FBI Director Christopher Wray announced the promotion Nov. 10 of FBI Special Agent in Charge of the Jacksonville Division Rachel Rojas to assistant director of the FBI’s Insider Threat Office in Washington, D.C. The Insider Threat Office is the FBI’s program to help companies protect their data and trade secrets from theft by people within the company. Rojas joined the FBI in 1996 as an investigative specialist for the Rojas New York Field Office. In 2005, Rojas was promoted to supervisory special agent and transferred to the Terrorism Financing Operations Section of the Counterterrorism Division at FBI headquarters. She was promoted to assistant special agent in charge of New York’s Criminal Division in 2012. In 2015 she was named as a section chief in the Security Division. In 2019, Rojas became the FBI’s first Latina special agent in charge when she was appointed to lead the Jacksonville Field Office. She led law enforcement investigations and operations including the search for Susan Mauldin, the FBI’s first discovery of human remains in a processed landfill; and the Naval Air Station Pensacola terrorism investigation, the first Al Qaeda-inspired attack on U.S. soil since 9/11.

Jacksonville Save A Lot stores sold to Yellow Banana Discount grocer Save A Lot said Nov. 2 it sold its four Jacksonville stores as part of plan to convert corporate-owned stores to local ownership. The Missouri-based company sold the four stores and two in Dallas to Yellow Banana LLC, which is owned by Cleveland-based investment company 127 Wall Holdings LLC. The four Jacksonville stores are at 762 Edgewood Ave. N.; 5276 Blanding Blvd.; 8000 Lem Turner Road; and 5995 University Blvd. Yellow Banana said it will keep all employees and the stores will undergo “a significant remodel in 2022 to fully reflect Save A Lot’s updated brand image.”
