‘Shark Tank’ winner The Yard Milkshake Bar to The Strand The Yard Milkshake Bar, a “Shark Tank” TV show winner two years ago, intends to open in The Strand at St. Johns Town Center with its bowls, scoops, floats and $16 specialty ice cream concoctions that feature toppings like doughnuts, chocolate-dipped bacon and brownies. The specialty shakes and sundaes can be ordered with a souvenir jar. “It’s a family friendly milkshake bar that offers an exceptional variety of milkshakes and ice cream creations that will deliver happiness to all,” said franchise owner Charles Davall in an email Nov. 12. Davall owns the franchise with partners. He said they hope to open in early 2022 and will hire up to 30 employees. Davall says it will be a locally owned and operated franchise of the Gulf Shores, Alabamabased The Yard Milkshake Bar. “We fell in love the first time we went for a visit. The city is reviewing construction applications for the proposed 118-room AC Hotels by Marriott at St. Johns Town Center. Chris Lewis, development manager of OTO Development LLC in Spartanburg, South Carolina, said Nov. 9 construction is scheduled to start in the first quarter of 2022 and be completed in the second quarter of 2023. OTO Development wants to build the four-story, 71,700-square-foot project on 2.73 acres at 5353 Big Island Drive. The hotel is planned near the RH Jacksonville furniture gallery, formerly known as Restoration Hardware, under construction east of Tesla, Apple and J. Alexander’s. The site is Parcel 3 of Phase 4 of St. Johns Town Center, at northwest Butler Boulevard and Interstate 295. The location is at the southern end of the shopping center. Four permits for the building, site clearing, dumpster enclosure and pool house for an outdoor pool total almost $13 million. The project will include 1,400 square feet of meeting space. Lewis said a final cost has not been determined. Palmetto-RPT Owner II LLC, doing business as AC Hotel Jacksonville East and part of OTO Development, is the owner. Spinoff keeps Jacksonville vision care under J&J Johnson & Johnson announced Nov. 12 it will spin off its consumer health products division into a separate public company, while its Jacksonville-based vision care business remains under Johnson & Johnson. The vision care business, which produces contact lenses under the Acuvue brand, is part of the company’s medical device division. After spinning off the consumer division, New Jersey-based Johnson & Johnson will consist of its pharmaceutical and medical device businesses. The unnamed consumer health company’s brands will include products such as Tylenol, Listerine and Band-Aid. Those businesses are expected to produce about $15 billion in revenue this year. The pharmaceutical and medical device businesses are projected to have $77 billion in revenue in 2021.
