The city issued a permit Dec 4 for Rise: A Real Estate Company to build the parking deck for The Doro Downtown. Rise will build a seven-level, 284-space parking garage with rooftop amenities. It is part of the $46 million in construction costs for the apartment and retail project and the garage at 960 E. Adams St., at A. Philip Randolph Blvd. in the Downtown Sports & Entertainment District. Rise General Contractors LLC is the contractor for the almost $10.4 million parking structure. The city issued a permit Nov. 16 for site clearing and horizontal development for the project. The city continues to review the permit for the apartments and applications for demolition of the warehouses on the site. The project is on 1.77 acres at 102 A. Philip Randolph Blvd. where the George Doro Fixture Co. fabricated architectural woodwork, casework and millwork.

Fleming Island-based Crazy Beans Coffee is planning a breakfast and lunch cafe on the ground floor of the Jacksonville Regional Transportation Center in LaVilla. The shop would be the chain’s second in Northeast Florida. The first is at 1545 County Road 220 in Fleming Island. Erika Cline, former owner of Bleu Chocolat Cafe in Springfield, is the shop’s general manager. She could not be reached for comment. The city issued a permit Dec. 3 for the $42,000 build-out for Crazy Beans Coffee at 100 LaVilla Center Drive. Masline Construction LLC is the contractor. Jacksonville Transportation Authority Director of Communications David Cawton II said Crazy Beans is planning to open in early 2021. It will be near the customer waiting area. Crazy Beans will serve hot and iced coffee drinks, teas and blended beverages along with breakfast and lunch.

Hangar approved for ManTech Advanced Systems The Jacksonville Aviation Authority board voted 6-0 Nov. 30 to approve a $12 million hangar and office facility at Cecil Airport to support ManTech Advanced Systems International Inc.’s U.S. Navy contract. According to a news release, JAA intends to complete construction of the 39,000-squarefoot hangar by the first quarter of 2022. ManTech will lease the hangar for about $4.9 million over five years. The Fairfax, Virginia-based government defense contractor works with the U.S. Navy Maritime Patrol and Reconnaissance Airport Program to support and maintain P-8A Poseidon aircraft.
