Parts of the South Jacksonville Presbyterian Church campus could soon be removed as buyers of the property prepare to build the 133-unit The Hendricks at San Marco apartments. The city is reviewing a permit application for Realco Recycling Co. Inc. to demolish the fellowship hall and education building. Developers said in March they paid $2.66 million for 2.09 acres to build the apartments, renamed from Park Place at San Marco. They said they bought the site through Sanmarc LLC from The South Jacksonville Presbyterian Church Inc. The church owned 2.87 acres and maintains its sanctuary and services on a corner of the site. The property is at Hendricks and Mitchell avenues and Mango and Alford places, near the Publix-anchored East San Marco center under construction and the historic San Marco shopping district and neighborhoods. The apartment developer is San Marco-based Corner Lot Development Group, led by Andy Allen, and Birmingham, Alabama-based Harbert Realty Services. “We are scheduled to commence demolition mid-August,” said Bill Ware, vice president of development with Harbert Realty Services. Ware said previously it will take 17 months to build the four-story apartment project, comprising

Developer Alex Sifakis says work will begin this year on facade improvements at College Park, the former Town & Country Shopping Center in Arlington.

Developer Alex Sifakis says neighbors around College Park in Arlington told his group that they wanted more food options at the shopping center. So that’s what JWB Real Estate Capital intends to provide, including a supermarket, as it redevelops the 68-yearold retail plaza at northeast University Boulevard and Arlington Expressway. “We’re bringing a grocery store back to the center,” Alex Sifakis, JWB president, told the JAX Chamber Arlington Council on July 28. A property leasing brochure says the store will open in the second quarter of 2022. While Sifakis would not identify the company, it would lease space previously occupied by Winn-Dixie. For food options, Sifakis

also talked about the shipping container food court and entertainment complex that will be built on-site, next to new apartments. He said those food tenants are to be determined. JWB also wants to bring restaurants to the inline center.

City permits Waste Management CNG fuel facility The city issued a permit July 23 for a CNG fuel facility at Waste Management Inc. of Florida’s planned maintenance project at 6876 Greenland Industrial Blvd. in Greenland Business Park. Onsite Electrical Service Inc. of Davie will build the CNG fueling facility, including a compressor compound and time-fill fueling stalls, at a cost of $850,000. The city also has been reviewing permit applications for North Coast Construction Co. of St. Augustine to build an office and truck maintenance building at the site at a combined cost of $3.39 million. Including the CNG facility, the cost is $4.24 million.
