Omni Jacksonville to become a Marriott The hotel chain’s website indicates the transition of the Downtown hotel will be completed in December.

It appears that the Omni Jacksonville Hotel will become part of the Marriott brand later this year. Dallas-based Prism Hotels & Resorts, which took over management of the hotel after the Omni was sold in February, did not respond to a request for comment. Marriott’s website features the Marriott Jacksonville Downtown at 245 Water St. and indicates the “new hotel” will open in December. A note on the Omnihotels. com website says “This hotel will no longer be an Omni property as of 8/25/21.” Marriott.com includes a description of the property: “Situated in the heart of downtown, our luxury hotel connects you with Jacksonville’s most popular cultural and business districts. The financial services company is renovating and adding offices in Jacksonville.

TD Bank is renovating two branches, including the former Synovus Bank office on the Downtown Southbank. The city is reviewing a permit application for TD Bank to renovate the former Synovus branch building, with drive-thru lanes, at 1326 Prudential Drive at an estimated $400,000. The city issued permits July 28 for Atlas Sign Holdings Inc. to put up six signs there for TD, including the drivethru and ATM, at a cost of $24,170. TD Bank closed its branch in the nearby former Stein Mart building at 1200 Riverplace Blvd. in April. The city also is reviewing a permit to renovate the TD Bank branch at its Jacksonville leadership offices building at 9715 Gate Parkway N. in Deerwood

Safaritopia buys Westside Industrial Park warehouse Educational toy manufacturer and distributor Safari Programs Inc., through an associated company, paid $8.75 million June 25 to buy the Westside Industrial Park warehouse it has been leasing. Safaritopia LLC bought the 130,688-square-foot building on 7.15 acres, plus some vacant land, at 8010 Westside Industrial Drive. Pattillo Industrial Real Estate and Stone Mountain Industrial Park Inc. sold the structure, built in 1992, through WS8010 LLC. Safari moved its headquarters to Westside Industrial Park in August 2020 from Miami Lakes.
