The fast-food chain launched the new design in Oklahoma this summer.
Sonic Drive-In’s new prototype will debut in Northeast Florida at the Mayport location when the franchisee retrofits the 21-year-old building. “This location will be the first drive-in in the Jacksonville area with the new prototype design,” said Christi Woodworth, vice president of public relations with the Oklahoma City-based company, in an email Dec. 9. The city is reviewing a permit application for a $450,000 renovation of the Sonic Drive-In at 2565 Mayport Road. Plans show a 105-square-foot alteration to the open patio in the front of the 1,406-square-foot building, an exterior retrofit to the new brand look, new canopies and interior replacement of finishes. The property is owned by franchisee SDI Florida LLC in Orange Park. State corporate records show its president is Richard Ganson and manager is private equity firm HB Equity Associates LLC of New York City.
The new restaurant will feature wider drive-in stalls.

The range of contractors can include a host of sectors, including general, masonry, roofing, landscape, HVAC, electrical, road, pool, plumbing, demolition and more. Contractors whose headquarters are based in the five counties of Baker, Clay, Duval, Nassau and St. Johns are eligible to submit for the Top Contractors issue. Shelton McNally plans Novo Kendall Town apartments With the land bought and financing in place, Atlanta developer Shelton McNally Real Estate Partners LLC is preparing to build the 300-unit Novo Kendall Town apartments in the Regency area. GL National Inc. and Shaner Select Services Hotels VIII LLC sold almost 16.7 acres east of Southside Connector along Kendall Town Boulevard. Novo Jacksonville Owner LLC paid $4.5 million for the vacant land Dec. 10, financed with a $28.6 million mortgage from Synovus Bank in Columbus, Georgia. The city is reviewing permit applications for the project at 1290 Kendall Town Blvd.
