SONI A MANGAT
S M
Following her strong values and positive approach, television and lifestyle personality Sonia M angat lives life to the fullest every day. She leverages her sizable digital platform to highlight several causes near her heart, to share workplace behind-the-scenes moments, and offer a peak into her longstanding passion for flower arranging through her beautiful ?side hustle?
Fleurs J?adore.
Early in 2020, this Vancouver early morning media darling shifted gears from the laid-back west coast to the bustling east coast by joining the award-winning etalk team There she quickly found a Canada-wide audience who fell in love with her positive, fun-loving, quirky and humble way of shining in the spotlight.
She recently joined CP24 Breakfast, Toronto?s most-watched morning show, which has an audience of over four million viewers!
From her modest beginnings as a freelance reporter for Warner, then Global and Bell M edia, Sonia has crafted her journey
?I believe in creating a vision board; if you don? t know where you?re headed, you?ll get distracted and lose focus When I say that, I?m not referring to the actual journey but the destination. Although it?s good to have goals, the journey to achieving them can not be planned because that?s where the real growth happens, and most of the time, the best moments occur when they are not planned. So I always know what I want, but I?m also always open to how I get there.?
?I no longer believe in the word balance because if you look at my day-to-day life, there is no balance. But, I make sure Mariah is a big part of everything I do Sometimes she screens movies with me; sometimes, she comes to the red carpet with me and holds my bag or a restaurant opening. I take my daughter with me as much as I can because I want her to see that her mother is hardworking and receive the type of learning that no school will teach you, the art of talking to people ?
Being prepared for the future involves setting a course for success and making it happen through planning and perseverance.
Being a full-time single mom with a demanding career in broadcasting has its challenges, as Sonia shares, ?My daughter, Mariah, is my why However, my life is also the life that she came into. What I do is not just for her but also for myself. It?s for my joy and fulfillment. My purpose has many facets, Mariah being one, but my service to others is also important.
?One of my goals was to work with Aveda hair. I?ve used their products for more than a decade now, and hair is a big part of my brand, so I knew I wanted to educate others about this brand. Well, it?s been two years in the making, and I?m now an ambassador for Aveda Canada.
?Another goal I?ve set for myself is to be present. Everyone is always asking ?what is next?for me - well, I?ve got two shows, two non-profit organizations I?m a part of, and a daughter to raise - that?s what?s next. I?m truly living in the present and appreciating each day for all the ups and downs it brings.?
As a woman of colour, Sonia realizes how lucky she is when presented with the opportunity to be involved in opportunities that share actions and values that resonate with her. ?There was a time, not too long ago, when the opportunities were few and far, and now we?re in this beautiful revolution of growth and inclusivity. As much as I feel valued around my community, that, unfortunately, is not the reality for many girls in many countries
?Girls are not given the same opportunities as boys, and studies have shown that when girls are educated and go on to work, they always give back to their community. So when one girl succeeds, everyone around her benefits.
?This is why I?m so passionate about organizations like One Girl Can, The Invisible Girl project (my daughter and I have been sponsoring a beautiful girl for years through them) and Days For Girls (helping end the stigma associated with menstruation).?
As anyone who follows Sonia can see, she has a passion for fashion and food! She loves cooking at home, is 80%plant-based and prides herself on making ?killer barbeque cauliflower and bean tacos.?
On her occasional visits to Vancouver, you may get a glimpse of her dining at Yaletown?s much-awarded Blue Water Cafe, Main Street?s Anh and Chi, and hitting up Coast downtown for a lively Happy Hour.
?I?ve always loved playing around with fashion. Recently I discovered Australia?s L?IDEE. They create dresses that are so silky and flow beautifully, all the while giving you a sexy vibe Obsessed! Also, I know you will be hearing much about a Toronto designer, Dorian Who. She creates avant-garde streetwear using deadstock materials. You put her pieces on and instantly feel like you belong at Paris Fashion Week Shout-out to my stylist Simone Faloona - she knows my fit so well and always pulls the most gorgeous pieces - she knows I like quality!?
During the pandemic, Sonia lived with her daughter and her father. Living with an aging parent and caring for a child is a situation some might typically find trying, but she found it to be a bonding experience for them all.
?I once heard someone say this is the worst age because you?re looking after your old parents while raising little humans. I see it in the most opposite way? what a beautiful place to be where you can connect your child to the people who raised you. The love my dad has for my daughter is beyond this world They wrestle, they fight, they laugh at each other, it?s such a blessing.?
With the trying times far behind, Sonia and her family, including recent addition fur-baby Blue, continue to grow and thrive.
As someone who once hosted traffic, weather, and news segments locally, Sonia has grown exponentially in Toronto. She is now interviewing cherished Canadian personalities like Ryan Reynolds, Jim Carrey, Catherine O?Hara, and powerful women like Hillary and Chelsea Clinton, Priyanka Chopra, and Katy Perry,
STEVI E CROWNE AW23
PHOENI X
S C
Over a decade ago, a young designer started making waves in the Vancouver fashion scene.
Armed with a bag of thrifted garments, scissors, spray paint, glue, thread, needles and pins, Stevie Crowne was preparing for a pop-up in TheClosetYVR, a short-lived luxury vintage reseller in Gastown A little shy but filled with dreams, Crowne won over those who came to shop with his vision of creating and selling one-off pieces of repurposed luxury designs.
As with many who seek to create fashion in Canada successfully, the limitations and expectations become obstacles; ultimately, reality requires relocation. Whether it is to Italy like North Vancouver's Christopher Bates or to the fashion capitals of Europe like Toronto's M ikhael Kale, the desire to find a place that feels like 'home' where creativity is supported and lauded, becomes a survival necessity
During a self-made career that has spanned over ten years, Crowne began producing and showcasing collections first in Canada, later expanding his company to the United Kingdom, Asia, and France, and curating an international audience by shipping worldwide
In London, he became a member of the British Fashion Council, showed collections at London Fashion Week, and dreamed of more.
Paris beckoned, and now his demi- couture brand is based in France, manufacturing apparel by reinventing deadstock clothing and fabrics into seasonal collections, on-demand styles, and collaborative bespoke wear. His ethos is driven by inclusivity and accessibility via sustainable design, and his aesthetic is socially fueled.
His work has been featured in Vogue and W M agazine As a member of the British Fashion Council, he aims to re-configure solutions to the fashion industries' monumental excess while re-framing manufacturing landscapes and consumer mindsets.
Notable people to wear the Stevie Crowne brand include Daniel Lismore, Jodie Harsh, Lil Peep, Laganja Estranja, Scarlett Bobo, BTSmember V (Kim Tae- hyung), and Kristian Nairn
Crowne presented his latest collection and statement to Folio.YVR, and we are pleased to share it and facilitate your entry into his world.
?AW23 PHOENIX is a collection that delves into the powerful concept of rebirth. Just like the mythical creature that rises from its own ashes, our latest offering embodies the spirit of transformation, renewal, and resilience. It is a story intertwined with my own journey as a self-made brand with a career that spans over 10 years across Canada, Europe, and Asia, working with a worldwide client base. As usual, it features innovative and sustainable materials, reflecting our commitment to environmental consciousness and ethical fashion. I believe that true rebirth encompasses not only personal transformation but also a positive impact on the world around us.
Phoenix was methodically designed to evoke a sense of chronological metamorphosis and renewal. Through carefully curated deadstock garments, recycled with luxury French fabrics, textures, and silhouettes, we aim to capture the essence of sustainable rebirth in each piece of clothing. Our colour palette is reminiscent of the darkest night as the base of each piece, merged with contrasted shades + textures such as pearls with opulent glitter mesh, gunmetal hardware with monochromatic embossed leather, rose gold foiled stretch denim, reflective, fiery reds embellished with jewel tones and barbed wire, and lastly, French beaded demi-couture fabrics. These hues + texture contrasts symbolize the new beginnings that come after the darkness, representing the dawn of a fresh start and the resilience it takes to realize one's vision, to signify the beauty and the darkness together holistically.
Each garment is meticulously crafted with attention to detail, showcasing the artistry and craftsmanship that we are known for The silhouettes in our collection are both structured and fluid, symbolizing the balance between strength and grace that comes with embracing change.
Asymmetrical cuts, layering, and draping techniques represent the evolving nature of life and the beauty found in imperfections. From flowing gowns, striking plays on corsets, tailored blazers, reclaimed leathers and denims, our collection offers versatility for different occasions, allowing individuals to express their unique style as they embark on their own personal journey of rebirth. Through our collection, we aim to inspire individuals to embrace change, overcome challenges, and rise stronger, just like the mythology of the Phoenix.?
What does the future hold? Crowne shares "it would be great to work with luxury retailers and stockists, tour wardrobe and music video costumes, alongside continuing my demi-couture looks for my already existing client base."

HEDY CHAN SOPRANO
H C
Award-winning Hong Kong-based Soprano Hedy Chan is a champion of nurturing and encouraging all to follow their passion. From a young age, she dedicated her life to achieving the most incredible heights in vocal performance and is constantly pushing herself to fulfill her grandiose dreams
During her childhood, Chan possessed an unwavering passion for captivating stories, whether found in books, theatres, or movies. However, nothing could compare to the raw power of a story presented by real-life performers accompanied by a live orchestra. She shares, ?Opera, with its amalgamation of human expression and symphonic harmony, eternally holds a special place in my heart. Nevertheless, as I matured, my dreams took a slight turn. At present, all I desire is the opportunity to sing and act for as long as my heart beats It is what breathes life into my existence ?
At 13, she attained Distinction for ABRSM Grade 8 Piano and Grade 8 Vocal Singing. A year later, she won the 1st prize in the 11th Asia Pacific Piano Competition (intermediate class). Through the years, Chan also clinched First Place more than ten times at the annual Hong Kong Schools Music Festival! This accomplishment resulted in her being awarded the prestigious Barbara Fei Open Class Vocal and Barbara Fei Female Voice Scholarships, and in 2021she was also awarded The Hong Kong Jockey Club Music and Dance Fund 2021-22 Full Scholarship.
Chan holds a Master of Performance degree from the Royal College of M usic in London and a Bachelor of Music (Honours) from the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts She studied and trained under the tutelage of renowned Soprano Nancy Yuen and Mezzo-soprano Sally Burgess and has received numerous additional scholarships.
For opera scenes, she has performed as Musetta from La Bohème by Puccini, Fiordiligi from Così fan tutte by Mozart, Micaella from Carmen by Bizet, Donna Anna from Don Giovanni by Mozart and Adina from L?elisir d?amore by Donizetti.
Chan?s first operatic role was the title role of Sister Angelica in Suor Angelica by Puccini. She has also performed other full opera roles, such as Giulietta in Les Contes d?Hoffmann by Offenbach and Pamina in Die Zauberflöte by M ozart.
Chan has also performed in the prestigious Renée Fleming Masterclass. She has also worked with other great musicians such as Eduardo Chama, Nelly M iricioiu, M ichael Chance, and Joy M ammen Opera, to Chan, is akin to the original superhero movie but with the added brilliance of extraordinary music. It encompasses epic narratives, larger-than-life characters, and sweeping orchestral compositions that make the audience believe they can conquer anything. Moreover, the dramatic sets with colossal chandeliers and elaborate costumes with exaggerated feathered hats evoke a sense of wonder However, on a more profound level, Chan feels ?Opera possesses an unparalleled ability to delve beneath your skin and stir your deepest emotions. It serves as the ultimate emotional roller-coaster, leaving audiences yearning for more ?
For a professional opera singer, maintaining strength and purity of voice is crucial to success. Chan is very conscious of caring for her vocal cords and acknowledges ?adequate hydration, sufficient rest, and employing correct vocal techniques all play a vital role in maintaining vocal health and strength,? and advises others in or aspiring to be an opera singer, to ?avoid imitating others? voices or adhering to preconceived notions of what our own voices should sound like.?She continues with sage advice. "While it may be tempting to emulate the richness of M aria Callas or other great vocalists, each of our voices possesses its own unique beauty. Therefore, taking pride in and cherishing our individual vocal instruments is of the utmost importance.?
From an early age, Chan knew who she was and who she wanted to be, and she is grateful for her parents nurturing her passion by encouraging her to explore. She has this advice for parents with a budding talent in the family.
?Singing can be an incredibly joyful and fulfilling pursuit, extending far beyond merely hitting the right notes It involves storytelling and self-expression through the medium of one?s voice. Thus, allow your child to experiment and revel in the experience while ensuring they receive proper training and guidance.
?Personally, my parents could never have anticipated my chosen path in Opera, yet here I am. Allowing your child to flourish uniquely and supporting their ambitions are invaluable ingredients for their growth and happiness.?
At the invitation of M anuel Bernaschek (Showcase Pianos, Stefano Ricci), Chan experienced our city's breathtaking scenery, hospitality, savoured delectable cuisine, and developed a genuine fondness for the relaxing atmosphere, especially at the Rosewood Hotel Georgia.
?The experience they offer is simply exceptional, making it challenging to articulate in words. Everything seamlessly comes together in perfect harmony, and I felt a profound sense of belonging and comfort during my time there. I am immensely grateful for this incredible opportunity, which has allowed me to meet extraordinary individuals and, most notably, collaborate with the beautiful Fazioli Pianos,?shared Chan.
Over the next year, Chan has no plans to slow down and has designed an intense schedule! She shares, ?I am filled with tremendous excitement as I look ahead to the upcoming year. A highlight on my calendar is a visit to the Fazioli factory in Venice, an opportunity that promises to be truly remarkable. Additionally, I have performances in the UK and Hong Kong. Although it involves quite a bit of travelling, I feel incredibly blessed to pursue my passion, connect with extraordinary individuals, and embark on adventures that allow me to explore the wonders of our world.?

VANCOUVER ART GALLERY

Fashion Fictions is an ambitious exhibition at the Vancouver Art Gallery that explores experimental design practices at the intersection of fashion and other modes of cultural production.
Featuring more than 50 designers from around the world, the exhibition explores the influence of research-based, materially driven practices on the global fashion scene while acknowledging the proliferation of creative practices that challenge the aesthetic, material, and technological conventions of fashion.
?Fashion Fictions has been many years in the making, and this timely exhibition reveals how fashion can be used to understand, describe and shape the world around us, as well as to envision modes of living very different than our own,?said exhibition curator, Stephanie Rebick, the Gallery?s Director of Publishing and Content Strategy
The exhibition explores three thematic sections:
M aterial Futures explores the relationship between technological and scientific innovations in material research to create fabrics
Aesthetic Prophesies highlights the fusion of cultural traditions with speculative creations and designers that push the boundaries of wearability with extreme fashion.
Responsible Visions explores the importance of sustainable discourse in fashion culture, with designers incorporating adaptive reuse, upcycling, and digital design into their explorations.
?Fashion Fictions is a timely and urgent exploration of the intersection of design, art and personal agency, in the tradition of numerous Vancouver Art Gallery exhibitions that broaden the public?s understanding of visual culture,?states Vancouver Art Gallery CEO & Director Anthony Kiendl.
?Fashion Fictions is more than mannequins and dresses; it?s an exploration of creativity drawing on cultural traditions, science fiction, technology and an interest in the natural world and sustainability The curatorial approach favours the unexpected: established and celebrated brands are juxtaposed with emerging designers; couture is exhibited alongside streetwear, and objects that blur the boundaries between design and contemporary art are peppered throughout Contributing curator Amber-Dawn Bear Robe selected work by several Indigenous designers and artists addressing social and environmental issues through designs.? Featured designers and artists include Balenciaga, Balmain, Comme des Garçons, Iris van Herpen, M aison M argiela, Alexander M cQueen, Issey M iyake, M oncler, Off- White, Pyer M oss, M arine Serre, Valentino Garavani, Vetements, Junya Watanabe, and many more.
Throughout the exhibition, there are spotlights on fashion innovation and trends. Some highlights include Iris van Herpen?s couture gowns that integrate new technologies in unconventional ways; Craig Green?s alien and sculptural puffer looks for his M oncler Genius collections; the premiere of Montréal-based Ying Gao?s robotic garment 2 5 2 6; Alice Potts?bio-design that creates crystal embellishments from human sweat; and Comme des Garçons? radical reconfiguration of conventional silhouettes
?I am thrilled for Indigenous fashion to be integrated into the larger conversation of global fashion with this exhibition,?said Amber- Dawn Bear Robe, Contributing Curator.
?The Indigenous designers curated into the show represent such a tiny fraction of the extraordinary work being fashioned by Indigenous designers across Native North America Many more fashion stories of the original designers of this land need to be shared.?
Fashion Fictions is accompanied by a magazine-style publication available online and in the Gallery Store. This exhibition is a must-see for anyone interested in the future of fashion, design, and cultural production.

GUERLAI N
ARI STI DE NAJEAN
A N
Created in 1853, the famous so-called ?bee bottle?is celebrating its 170th birthday this year! A testament to Guerlain?s exceptional heritage, this piece fashioned from the very outset by the glassmaker Pochet du Courval has established itself as a real sliver of history.
Set off in gold, the sixty- nine bees gathering nectar on the bottle were initially offered to Empress Eugenie as the ultimate symbol of the Empire and Place Vendôme to celebrate her marriage to Napoleon III.
On this 170th anniversary, the iconic Bee Bottle is again taking over the realm of the Exceptional Pieces, offering an invitation to artistic craftsmanship.
In 2023, the Bee Bottle is continuing its spectacular journey and bringing its foraging bees to rest on the banks of the island of Murano. Here, at the heart of the Venetian lagoon, Guerlain has called on the talent of artistic glassmaker Aristide Najean for this 170th-anniversary bottle.
A fashioner of molten material, the French sculptor and artist trained by the greatest master glassmakers has built his reputation on his picto- sculptural inspirations and incomparably rich colour palette.
Najean says that he remains fascinated by the whirring of the glass kilns in the evening on the Italian island. For over 20 years, the artist has been turning his bags of sand and quartz into delicate creations in the most crystalline element imaginable. ?Every day, I?m surprised by the magic of this material,?confesses Najean, who studied its composition before working with it ?to get to know it better.?
Made of 70%silica sand, to which minerals are added to tint it, the heated powdered glass turns into a liquid. As it cools down, it recovers a consistency that allows it to be shaped. Murano glass and its beauty born of a ?mineral and cosmic radiance?will never cease to amaze Najean.
It has to be said that the French artist offers ?a little bit of himself, in addition to what the glass already reveals?in each of his creations A painter and sculptor, Nejean was trained at a very early age in the Murano technique under a master glassmaker and found an extension of his work as a painter in this sculptural activity.
Murano Glass tells the story of an ancient art born in Antiquity and officially established on the island from the 13th century onwards. In the greatest secrecy, the legendary manufacturing techniques accumulated over the centuries are passed down from master to pupil. As clear as the water of the canals surrounding it, the glass is melted to 1,400°C, according to an alchemical process in traditional refractory stone kilns.
Currently, he is the only French artist on the island with a glassmaking workshop. Najean reveals all his pictorial experience, colours and sense of light and shade in the crystalline material. His unique pieces, in which painting and sculpture come together in an original and poetic symphony, have always been more than mere heirs of the Murano tradition and are celebrated worldwide for having brought an artistic breath of fresh air to the world of contemporary glass craftsmanship.
Today, Najean?s know-how naturally dialogues with the richness of Guerlain?s heritage to give body to an exceptional bottle from which an armful of opaline flowers bursts forth.
?Before the drawing process, there was a key meeting with Ann Caroline Prazan, Director of Heritage and Artistic Relations,?recalls the master glassmaker. ?She suggested that I work on the idea of the bridal bouquet. I very quickly saw how the flowers could be arranged on an adornment, breaking free from or entering into the bottle in graceful ripples. Then it had to be created. And there is nothing more beautiful than an additional artistic exercise.?
A clear echo of its imperial birth on 30th of January 1853, this exceptional bottle delivers a realistic interpretation of the bridal bouquet while a veil of everlasting flowers delicately tinted in gold unfolds on its shoulders. This precious composition, a masterpiece of Venetian craftsmanship, creates a subtle play of opacity and transparency true to the sculptural dimension of the artist?s work Its structure is formed around a leaf of blown glass, from which bursts a wave of white flowers, symbolizing eternal union and purity.
This incredibly refined and skillful work takes seven hours, incorporating transparency and a 24- carat inlay, sixty-nine bees hand-painted at Pochet du Courval by dedicated artisans, elegantly foraging among the golden pistils. ?Only the glass and the heat count; we bring a new, timeless form back to life. If we add a little 24-carat gold to the composition, we boost the aura of this already extremely powerful material. By adding this gold to this transparent glass characteristic of Murano, we irradiate the piece; we give it what should be an adornment or a unique moment.?
On this 170th anniversary, this everlasting bouquet is limited to 10 pieces with another ode to love: the perfume Bouquet de la M ariée accompanies the bottle also expresses the language of love.
There are ten unique pieces worldwide; each bottle can be customized and may be engraved as desired by its owner for 25,000?
JEAN
SCHLUMBERGER
TI FFANY & CO
One of the 20th century?s most gifted artists, Jean Schlumberger, created objects of unparalleled beauty. He was a man of refined taste? an artist who conceived spectacular jewelled statements with an incredible sense of dimension and life.
Schlumberger was uninhibited in his conceptualizations of flora and fauna, at once representing and creating a unique fusion of natural forms to create his distinctive designs.
Born in 1907 into a prominent family of textile manufacturers in Alsace, France, Schlumberger demonstrated a talent for drawing from a young age In his early 20s, he moved to Paris, where he could hone his creative impulses and love for the arts. He revelled in Paris?vibrant and eccentric zeitgeist, drawn to the originality and novelty that saturated 1930s Parisian culture
By the end of the 1940s, Schlumberger had become a success story in his own right and after serving in the French Army during World War II, Schlumberger moved on to the city of dreams - New York
Creating new jewelry designs inspired by his discoveries gleaned from the legendary Paris Flea M arket, Schlumberger soon opened an atelier on rue de la Boetie. In 1937, fashion designer Elsa Schiaparelli enlisted Schlumberger to lead design for her buttons and costume jewelry collections. It was while designing his fantasy buttons for Schiaparelli?s suits, legendary Vogue editor Diana Vreeland discovered him impressed by his creative vision.
It was in M anhattan in 1956 that the legendary partnership with Tiffany & Co. began. As the company?s new vice president, Schlumberger had access to vibrant rare coloured gemstones and diamonds and quickly created some of Tiffany?s most iconic designs, including the Bird on a Rock clip we are celebrating today.
One of his first grandiose and artistic moves was to mount the famous Tiffany Diamond on a high jewelry design. Tiffany entrusted the young designer with setting the 128.54- carat Fancy Yellow diamond? the largest and finest yellow diamond in the world then? a bold move that solidified Schlumberger?s artistic role at Tiffany & Co.
Later the same year, Schlumberger unveiled a rather unusual creation for Tiffany & Co. Famed for his naturalistic designs; the brooch had a small-eyed, crested bird in 18- karat gold and platinum. The bird was set with brilliant-cut diamonds and a pink- sapphire eye atop an impressive topaz.
In the limited editions that have followed, Bird on a Rock has proven itself by being continuously in demand, and the whimsical bird has been set on an array of stones including tourmaline, morganite, and aquamarine.
The worlds of art and fashion have celebrated Schlumberger?s brilliant career with numerous honours and awards, and he amassed an impressive client roster, including royal families and international socialites.
Earlier this year, Tiffany & Co. unveiled Bird on a Pearl, an exclusive high jewelry capsule collection that reimagines the iconic Bird on a Rock brooch with the world?s rarest saltwater pearls
The collection was unveiled at a brand event in Doha, Qatar All the pearls in the collection were sourced in the Gulf region and purchased from the personal collection of Hussain Al Fardan ? a Qatari business magnate who grew up in the pearl trade.
Jean Schlumberger died in France in 1987 at 80, leaving a legacy that will persist as an ode to his brilliance. Almost 70 years after starting at Tiffany & Co., style arbiters, tastemakers and celebrities like Jay- Z and M ichael B Jordan continue to revere his high jewelry designs? both on and off the red carpet.

Hublot and Takashi M urakami have continued their creative dialogue with an exciting fourth collaboration. This collaboration has thirteen new timepieces, each paired with an NFT, fuse watchmaking innovation and contemporary art. The watches feature the artist?s iconic smiling flower perfectly harmoniously with Hublot?s renowned expertise
?When I visited the Hublot manufacturer in Switzerland for the first time, I realized to what extent the traditional know-how, precision, futuristic technology and craftsmanship were all intertwined in creating a watch. Bringing my art into the creativity of these watchmakers represents a unique adventure for me,?said Murakami.
Last in Vancouver for his 2018 retrospective exhibition at the Vancouver Art Gallery titled ?The Octopus Eats Its Own Leg,?where Murakami displayed over fifty paintings and sculptures, the ?superflat?artist is a phenomenon that has no plans to stop creating. He is an international star in contemporary art circles and with the general public and masterfully achieves this result by combining leading-edge multimedia tools with traditional Japanese techniques. Murakami?s visually very modern style subtly reflects Japanese tradition and pop culture and has inspired generations.
For this chapter in their collaborative story, Hublot and Murakami salute the owners and collectors of previous editions of their NFTs and watches. Access to the online sale of the Classic Fusion watches is reserved for owners of at least one of the NFTs created as part of the third collaboration, taking the art of high-quality watchmaking and digital art into a new realm
?Our partnership with Takashi Murakami allows us to create a story that interlinks all the works we have released with Takashi, both digital pieces and the watches themselves. Faithful to its history, Hublot is once again first, unique and different in how it rewards its collectors, providing them with privileged access to both ownership of and trade in unique artistic pieces. Hublot Loves Art!?enthuses Hublot CEO Ricardo Guadalupe
The twelve watches, referencing the 12 hours on the dial, are each paired with a different colour and linked to an NFT The NFTs are inspired by Japanese video games and television from the 1970s and the Classic Fusion Takashi M urakami All Black, the first collaboration between the Swiss watchmaker and the artist, released in January 2021
Collectors have one year to acquire the 12 unique NFTs, after this period, in April 2024, only the collector who has successfully purchased the 12 NFTs will be eligible to purchase the 13th and most sought-after watch, the Classic Fusion Takashi M urakami Black Ceramic Rainbow.
A veritable masterpiece, the watch reinterprets Takashi Murakami?s emblematic smiling flower with 12 petals forming a perfect gradient of rubies, sapphires, amethysts, tsavorites, and topaz.
Thanks to an ingenious ball-bearing system developed by Hublot engineers, the petals offer a dizzying rainbow spectacle as they spin and create a striking effect against the 45mm black ceramic case.
?When my collaboration with Hublot was announced, we made it known that we would be adopting new forms of artistic expression. After creating all the timepieces together, as well as the digital works of art, we are now imagining new ways of accessing contemporary art,?notes Takashi Murakami.
Seeking something less substantial? A wide range of Takashi M urakami curios and books are available at the VAG Store Shop

Fans of the brand will note in the launch collection that the Ergo and Wavy Dinky bags have been reimagined using a range of different upcrafted techniques, including patchwork, weaving, appliqué, sequins, pressed leathers and scrap binding, that transform Coach waste? from leather cutting room scraps to zipper ends? into unique artisanal styles
?We love that the brand is exploring new ways to craft from what already exists Having a mission to avoid creating new materials and using virgin textiles in making Coachtopia products is commendable and necessary in an industry plagued with waste,?says Helen Siwak, EIC
Folio YVRThe leathers used in Coachtopia products are either ingeniously upcrafted from Coach production waste or made with at least 50% recycled leather scraps from tanneries. Other materials used across the range include 95%+ recycled cotton for hoodies and T-shirts, a colourful 70%+ recycled resin for bag straps and hardware, 100% recycled polyester for canvas totes and webbing on footwear, and a 40% bio- based renewable Sugarcane EVA for footwear soles.
From removable screw-back hardware, detachable handles and straps, binding or seam-out constructions and mono-material designs, Coachtopia design innovations aim to keep materials in use at their highest value? and out of the landfill.
Additionally, Coachtopia's at least 75% recycled packaging has been designed to be multi-functional to reduce material use and is printed with renewable Algae Ink.?
Harnessing over 80 years of Coach expertise, Coachtopia reimagines the product lifecycle from end to beginning? reducing the creation of new materials by crafting with waste and designing products that can be reimagined once again, remade and recycled to live multiple lives. In so doing, it is working to create beautiful things with a significantly reduced impact on the planet compared to conventional luxury products.
As part of its mission, Coachtopia invests in the next generation of talent through collaborative programs, harnessing and showcasing new talent to solve the problems facing fashion.
?We were inspired by our shared desire to do better for the planet by inventing new circular ways of dreaming, designing and creating," said Coach
Creative Director Stuart Vevers"It's a bigger, bolder step forward in realizing our vision for sustainability at Coach, where we prioritize experimenting and learning and ethical design intentions over cookie-cutter perfection. Coachtopia takes this to a new level by challenging us to ' design in reverse,' with the end goal of circularity top of mind, in collaboration with the next generation and their optimistic vision for tomorrow.?
Coachtopia is a world in progress - advancing iteratively towards a continually evolving vision of circularity It builds upon the investments that Coach is making to improve the end-to-end sustainability of its business, as well as the learnings and capabilities developed through the brand's Coach (Re)Loved program.
By giving a second life to more than 20,000 Coach products since its April 2021launch, Coach (Re)Loved takes up this challenge of innovating through rapid prototyping and forming a continuous feedback loop with Coach to drive mutual progress

Known in the 1980s for his flamboyant and often outrageous stage appearance, Cheung ventured into acting in the 1990s and quickly was recognized for his portrayal of queer characters in the then-conservative film industry. His career was praised and criticized by those who chose to focus on his sexual orientation and androgynous persona, rather than his talent
Many may have yet to learn that Cheung moved to Vancouver in 1990 and became a Canadian citizen by naturalization
Having achieved widespread recognition, Cheung as an actor in the 1990s played a womanizer in Days of Being Wild (1990) which saw his character pining for the return of his estranged mother A role that won him Best Actor at the 1991Hong Kong Film Awards. Then his role as a gay Peking opera actor in Farewell M y Concubine (1993) catapulted him to prominence in the Western world.
Cheung?s reputation as a queer celebrity was furthered with his role in Happy Together (1997), a dramatic film with a gay male relationship at its core. In 1996, he released the album Red, which was noted for its sonic experimentation and graphic imagery. CROSSROADS RESORTS WORLD LV
In March 2013, Chef Tal Ronnen partnered with the now-infamous Travis Barker to open the first Crossroads Kitchen at the corner of M elrose and Sweetzer in Los Angeles.
There his team offered up mouthwatering M editerranean meals in a refined environment making Crossroads unique and contrary to what people picture when they think of a vegan restaurant.
In May 2022, Chef Ronnen introduced the glittery city of Las Vegas to that signature style and flavour.
?Our expansion within Resorts World Las Vegas points to the evolving mainstream appeal of plant-based cuisine. When Crossroads Kitchen first opened in 2013, it was a rarity, the first upscale, entirely plant-based restaurant with a full bar. Now, with our new locations, I?m excited to continue shaping the perception of plant-based dining with Resorts World and serve delicious, refined food that appeals to vegans and flexitarians alike.?
s p i r i t s
With upscale décor and lighting, the team created an elevated experience to continue their passion for plant-based dining with a full bar and inspired cocktail program. There are no obvious vegan cues, and most guests would be hard-pressed even to make the connection that the menu is plant-based.
By providing a comfortable and sophisticated restaurant where the food is satisfying and delicious, and the service impeccable, Crossroads becomes defined not by what is missing but by what it truly is - a wonderfully delightful surprise adjacent to the vibrant casino floor and across from the casual Dawg House Sport Bar.
At launch, Bart M ahoney, Vice President of Food & Beverage of Resorts World Las Vegas, stated: ?As we expand our dining portfolio, we continue to seek unique concepts that can appeal to food lovers and culinary novices alike, and Crossroads does just that We are thrilled to be working with Chef Tal and his talented team to offer an approachable yet refined take on plant-based cuisine to our guests and visitors.?
A graduate of the Natural Gourmet Institute, Ronnen also conducts master vegetarian workshops for students and staff at Le Cordon Bleu campuses nationwide.
Paul Zlatos is Crossroads Corporate Executive Chef who started his career as a prep cook and dishwasher in 1999 for a family-owned restaurant in Illinois. This experience inspired him to pursue cooking as a career and led him to the Scottsdale Culinary Institute in October 2001.

He made his culinary mark at several high-profile events, having catered Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi?s wedding, Arianna Huffington?s party at the DNC, and a USSenate dinner.
A move to Las Vegas brought him to the Wynn, where he honed his skills and began working at various restaurants, including Alex, Sirio Ristorante, Lakeside, and Tableau It is also where he met Tal Ronnen and gained an introduction to Oprah Winfrey.
Paul worked as her personal chef for two years and, since 2017, as the personal chef for Canadian hip-hop megastar and business mogul, Drake, who is a huge fan of Crossroads Kitchen.
The beautifully designed full dining room seats up to 160 guests or an impressive 250 for cocktails and canapes. Those with smaller groups are invited to use and reserve the semi-exclusive curved dining room.
The dining room stuns with signature red booths, luxurious chairs, dramatic lighting pieces, and a stunning wine column in the restaurant?s centre.
Walls are adorned with original framed photography featuring the entertainment industry?s most notable and notorious, by renowned photographer Neil Zlozlower. His decades-long career includes work with legendary artists and icons Elton John, David Bowie, KISS, Alice Cooper, Black Sabbath, and U2.

For the full experience, guests are invited to The Crossroads Experience 7 Course Tasting M enu with Wine Pairing.
Offered seasonally, the masterfully designed menu purports dish after dish of divine flavour and to take this experience to the next level, guests can meet and greet with the Chef as he shaves Summer Truffles, and receive a signed Crossroads Cookbook.
At our visit, the offered menu began with a chilled Asparagus Soup (Trinchero Sauvignon Blanc 2000, CA), then a Spring Pea & Radish salad (Nikolaihof Gruner Veltliner 2020, AU), Stuffed Zucchini Blossom with house-made herbed ricotta (Nascetta ?La Regina?2020, IT), and an unexpectedly delicious Chestnut Foie Gras with grilled sourdough (Flowers Pinot Noir 2019, CA) A gorgeous main of Sweet Pea Ravioli (Au Bon Climat 2020, CA), the freshness of which cannot be described, and an adventurous Eggplant Short Rib with whipped potatoes and foraged mushrooms (Hedges Cabernet Sauvignon 2018, WA).
In addition, we decided to go off-script and added the Impossible Cigars with spicy almond milk yogurt, a Cheese Plate with an exceptionally delicious Camembert-bleu, and very rich and satisfying
Rockefeller-style Baked Mushroom Scallops
Chef Zlatos was gracious and shared his love of Canada and the years he spent in Toronto in his early career. Our server Drew?s recommendations and timing were impeccable, and he handled requests with aplomb.
Crossroads Kitchen is aptly named as it represents an intersection where inclusive dining is front and centre. Everyone can cross paths to share a delicious meal and a good time, as everyone should enjoy great food, not be divided by it!
