Title of talk: “LEEding Tiny & Clara White Mission: Building a Community for Veterans” Description of Talk: The tiny house community would serve once-homeless veterans, with the goal of accommodating more women with children. The homes are sustainable, eco-friendly and largely built out of repurposed materials. Veterans themselves would have an opportunity to help build them, and would learn concepts such as solar design and energy measurement and management. After 15 plus years of non-stop travel working in the software industry, Annie Murphy and her husband started Eco Relics in 2013, hoping to find a more sustainable lifestyle. Eco Relics was founded on Annie’s strong beliefs of sustainability and being kind to the planet, as well as her husband’s love of architecture and wood crafts. Housed in a 50,000 sq ft warehouse built in 1927, their business is dedicated to keeping building materials out of landfills. The goal is to provide an eco-friendly alternative to buying new while preserving and reclaiming historic architectural salvage from Northeast Florida.
