Message from the CEO Welcome! The Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of Palm Beach County is proud to present the 2010/2011 Business Community Guide. Your Hispanic Chamber has been evolving over the last several years and now stands ready to serve you at a much higher level and wider range than ever before.
André Varona
We have always been a strong networking organization with our monthly Café con Leches and Program Luncheons, along with quarterly Power Networking and our Annual Signature Events, Triunfo! Gala Awards and “Annual Golf Classic”. Last year we also added New Member Orientation and Business Seminar Programs, plus our very first “Latin American Food & Wine Festival.” Each of these initiatives were designed to foster and enhance the economic interests and quality of life in Palm Beach County, as well as create an opportunity for business leaders to network, connect and strengthen relationships. The Hispanic Chamber has created a strategic plan to establish ourselves as not only the voice of the Hispanic business community, but as a gateway to connect Hispanic business with mainstream business in Palm Beach County and beyond. As our Hispanic influence continues to grow, we must strive to be a resource for information, advocacy, business and economic development, education and training and cost savings for all who seek opportunities in this vibrant, exciting and diverse area we know and love as Palm Beach County. Please join The Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of Palm Beach County on the path to a richer, multi-cultural journey. We hope the pages of our publication help to serve as a roadmap to your success! On behalf of the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of Palm Beach County, our Board of Directors and myself, I sincerely would like to thank Emma Velez and her team at Tres Communications and Roland Garcia and Ralph Jimenez of Original Impressions for their hard work, community support and passion that they have given to the vision, creative process and completion of this publication. Muchisimas gracias!

Message from the Chairs Juan Cocuy Chairman 2011
Laura Corry Past Chair 2010
Dear Members and Friends:
Estimados miembros y amigos:
On behalf of the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and the 2010-2011 Board of Directors we like to take this opportunity to thank and congratulate our members. Your choice to become a part of the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of Palm Beach County enhances our community as a whole, and will extend your market reach. Today, *15.8% of the U.S. population is Hispanic. +In sheer dollar power, the Hispanic economy has gone from $212 billion in 1990, to $489 billion in 2000, to $978 billion in 2009 and is expected to go to $1.3 trillion by 2010. The fact is that South Florida Hispanics are one of the highest per capita buying powers nationwide. The bottom line is that reaching and accessing the Hispanic community is big business! The Hispanic Chamber will continue to focus on promoting our membership. All of us can contribute to building our community. The next time you need to purchase goods or services, contact a fellow Hispanic Chamber member. The next time you are accepting contract bids, ask the Hispanic Chamber to notify the membership, and ask the vendors you conduct business with if they are members of the Hispanic Chamber. With your continued involvement, the Hispanic Chamber will continue to strive to be the best we can be. Please help us to improve the quality of our, and future generations’ lives. We look forward to working for you and with you in 2011.

Testimonials Susy Garcia-Burrowes
I relocated from Orlando, Florida about 2 years ago and opened my second Insurance Agency in Royal Palm Beach. I was very active in the Chamber in Orlando and wanted to do the same here. The first organization I joined was the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of Palm Beach County. I knew how crucial being a part of a Chamber is to growing my business while giving back to my community. I wanted to be actively involved, so I jumped right in and joined several Chamber committees; the Ambassador Group and Membership Committee. The Hispanic Chamber has also allowed me to meet friends/colleagues that I would not have met had I not joined. This Hispanic Chamber is one of the most “friendly and welcoming” Chambers I have been a part of.
Heather Black
We appreciate your enthusiasm and passion regarding health care in the community. It is my personal hope that those of you who have not yet joined the Hispanic Chamber see the value in this wonderful organization. The Chamber truly elevates awareness in Palm Beach County and we are proud to be members at Good Samaritan Hospital.
In good health,

Government The history of Palm Beach County like the state of Florida has always been tied to the Hispanic culture. Palm Beach owes its name to a shipwreck in 1878, when a cargo of coconuts came ashore from the Providencia, a Spanish vessel, and people planted them along the coastline. In the beginning Palm Beach County was part of Miami-Dade, but in 1909 the County was officially established. Palm Beach County territories extended to Broward, Martin and Okeechobee Counties, but in 1915 Broward County was established, Okeechobee in 1917 and Martin in 1925. Palm Beach County, the largest county in the state of Florida, is the third most populated in the state, with 38 incorporated municipalities.

Commissioners meetings are held every first and third Tuesday of the month. Robert Weissman, County Administrator since 1991, supervises the dayto-day work, overseeing over 7,000 employees, in more than thirty departments, division and offices. He is also responsible for managing the county’s annual budget. Palm Beach County diversity could be found within the growth of Hispanics in the area. Updates from the 2009 Census, shows that Hispanics

If this trend continues, it would mean Hispanics gaining influence not only in the voting process, but also representation in the various political seats. “All Palm Beach County residents should be treated equally and have equal opportunities to everyone’s benefit” said Jess R. Marketing Tools
Marketing Automation Is a Powerful Tool in a Marketer’s Toolbox. Today’s YouTube world offers a broader marketing toolset that cannot be ignored. It is a notion that has had marketers fine tuning their plans to ensure they have the right balance of the most effective media in which to reach their audiences. And, they, in turn, have had their agencies – not only thinking out of the box, but off the screen – to grab consumers’ attention like never before. Why? Because they cannot spend the proverbial ‘big bucks’ for marketing communications initiatives without clear agency accountability. As a result, service portfolios at agencies across the country have expanded. One such example is Original Impressions (OI), a long-established Florida-based company known for its vast printing capabilities, which over the past eight years has considerably evolved its marketing communications services. OI’s wide array of comprehensive, Web development services elegantly combine consumer insight, technology and creativity to provide flexibility, speed and user satisfaction.
Through their proven expertise with globally and nationally recognized companies, they help optimize business processes through a wide range of services and fully branded, data-driven customized Web sites that allow: • Real-time creative collaboration ensures seamless integration with client Web sites and collateral materials • Print on demand capabilities ensure less waste of excess materials • Proprietary Web-based inventory management system allows accurate reporting and management of product and budgets • Automated direct mailing and list-making capabilities make for efficient distribution and guarantee less than four percent bad returns • Customer reporting and tracking system makes it easy to measure for ROI The best part about it, by working with OI, clients eliminate the need for a major capital investment – by freeing up critical personnel and resources for more strategic tasks; maximizing resources and assets; reducing redundancy in multi-agency partnerships and expanding marketing activities within the scope of their budget.

The Convention and Visitor’s Bureau strategy includes pursuing National Hispanic organizations with renewed interest as well as reactivating a Latin American sales presence in 2011 and beyond. We are certain that our ties and collaboration with the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce in Palm Beach County will assist us in reaching our goals in this regard”, said Jorge Pesquera, President and CEO of the Palm Beach County Convention Center and Visitors Bureau.
