Discussion Questions
1. Put yourself in the shoes of an Israelite soldier, receiving a briefing from Joshua about God's instructions for taking Jericho (Joshua 6:3-5). How would you feel in that moment? What thoughts would be running through your mind?
2. In Joshua 6:2, God says, "I have delivered Jericho into your hands," even though the city had not yet been conquered. Why do you think God used past tense when referring to a future event? What does this reveal about God's faithfulness and certainty?
3. Besides having faith in God, what other characteristics do you believe were crucial for the Israelites to achieve victory at Jericho? How did these qualities contribute to their success?
4. God's plan for taking Jericho involved the repetition of the number "seven." Why do you think there was an emphasis on the number seven in God's instructions? What symbolic or spiritual significance might this hold?
5. Reflecting on your own life, what is a "Jericho" that you are currently facing? In other words, what challenge or obstacle do you recognize that requires God's intervention for you to experience victory? How can you seek God's help in overcoming it?
