SPEAKER FOR TODAY

Rev Dr Andrew Peh is a lecturer in mission and world religions at Trinity Theological College (TTC).

He is an alumnus of TTC as well as Asbury Theological Seminary in Wilmore Kentucky, USA. He is ordained as a diaconal minister in the Chinese Annual Conference of the Methodist Church in Singapore and is attached to Bukit Panjang Methodist Church.

His research interests are in colonial missions history of Southeast Asia (Singapore) and the missions history of East Asia (particularly Japanese Christianity).

PRAYER REQUESTS FROM FMC MISSIONARIES - AUGUST 2023

Tan Yiwei

1. Thank God for the mums in my WOW MUM (Women of Worth, Moms on Mission) group. We have been learning and helping each other grow in this mothering journey. Praying for God’s grace, joy and strength to be upon us.

2. Thank God for the mission trip to Penang (June 2023) . Thankful my 7 years old son Jingen, could join me. He made new friends and went witnessing with me. Thank God for the 54 children and 24 adults who came for the two events. Praying for the spiritual seeds sown to grow and bear fruit in God’s perfect timing.

3. Thankful for the 3 pre-believing mothers whom I’ve befriended. Praying they will be interested in spiritual conversations with me.

4. I have a greater desire to know God deeper. God’s word be my source of strength and guide. My soul find rest in Him in the midst of busyness.

David Lang

1. Pray for Strength and Health to take care of Titus. David and Loo Geok are the strain of long-term care for Titus. Titus continues to need roundthe-clock care. Loo Geok is the main caregiver to care for him when he sleeps.

2. Pray for us to be channels of grace to extend God’s grace to those he brings to our care: people in our neighbourhood and the several who got to know us through our stories.

3. Pray for wisdom and effectiveness in David’s teaching and at SBC and various churches.

Ps Simon Neo

1. All praise and glory to our Lord! SLA has handed the new site to us on 1 July 2023, exactly 40 years since Breakthrough Missions (BTM) was formed on 1 July 1983. We give thanks for the Lord’s amazing grace for the 40 years of journey in this life-transformation journey. We pray for the Lord’s continued guidance and wisdom to be upon us as we plan and move into the Promised Land “Breakthrough Village”.

2. Pray for the Lord’s anointing on all the leaders and staff of BTM as we prepare ourselves to embark on our journey to the new home. That we will be united as one in the Spirit.

3. Pray for all leaders, committee members, staff and residents that the Lord will grant them good health, strength to overcome all challenges in Breakthrough Village.

4. Our café at People’s park Centre will cease operations on 26 Aug 2023. We will be relocating to our new café at Changi Village which will open sometime in Nov 2023. Pray for the Lord to grant us smooth handover of the café back to the landlord and minimal reinstatement is required. Pray for the renovation of the new café to be completed in time for the opening in Nov 2023.

Kwok Siew Hwee

1. Pray for good use of time as I do my part time studies at TTC on top of my fulltime work.

2. University has just begun, pray that more students will come to learn of and join the Christian Fellowships (CF) in the various universities.

3. The Chinese CF in NTU is planning to extend hospitality to Chinesespeaking international students by introducing them to the country through fun activities. Pray that friendships can be forged in the process.

Poh Siok Ching

1. Pray for strength for my husband. To perform his duties at work and also to take care of me.

2. Pray for good blood results and heart scan results so that I can start my chemo.

3. Pray that the efficacies of the chemo, pray that with God’s healing power, it will eliminate all the cancer cells.

4. Pray for protection against the side effects of the chemo, and any other form of protection.

5. Pray for my son Jaden. Pray that he is able to remain focus and remember all that he has studied during N level exams.

John Amalraj

1. First phase travel from the 2nd week of August.

2. Focus group discussions and interviews in 4 cities.

3. Successful launching of survey questionnaires.

4. Funds for the remaining field research budget, Field research travels, interviews, and speaking engagements.

5. Pray for my son Jason as he waits for God to open new doors for career prospects. Pray for spiritual protection and good health.

Kuek Chung Lee

1. Pray that pastors and leaders of POCC will have wisdom and courage to come up with needful processes to bring about culture change that aligns more and more with the Lord’s desire for the church.

2. Please pray for the Lord's guidance in using the Online Disciple Making Community resources to develop disciple making learning communities among those working in the marketplaces and in the church.

3. Covet prayers for each of my pre-believing siblings and their family members to experience spiritual birth as each comes to know Jesus personally as their Saviour and Lord.

Chin Kheng Boon

1. Praise God for the post-surgery recovery as Qingwen is recovering very well and is now eating normally. Pray for full recovery for the swelling of the cheeks to subside and the nerves in the jaws and chin areas will resume sensory function to bite and chew harder food properly.

2. This is my final year studying in Singapore Bible College. Pray for stamina and mental strength to finish the last two semesters.

3. Pray for my daughter’s scoliosis condition. We thank God that her scoliosis is not serious at the moment and still under observation. Pray that her scoliosis’s condition will be stabilised with the necessary swimming and pilates exercises.

4. Pray for Qingwen’s family members (mother and sister) who have not come to know the Lord. Pray for my father to come back to the church community to worship God as he’s been busy working on weekends.
