“ WE ALREADY LIVE IN THE HEALTHIEST AND WEALTHIEST TIME OF HUMAN HISTORY, AND YET WE WANT MORE.” WILL BOWEN
INTERNATIONAL BEST-SELLING AUTHOR & FOUNDER, COMPLAINT FREE® MOVEMENT
One out of every ten employees quits their job because of complaining coworkers— and these are almost always your best people. Celebrity guest of Oprah, Dr. Oz, The Today Show and more, Will Bowen challenged us to break the habit of complaining by going 21 complaint-free days in a row. Given that 75% of employees spend 4.5 hours a week complaining, Bowen offered valuable lessons for leaders to take back to their teams to help increase productivity, improve communication, and raise morale.
“EVERYONE IN YOUR BUSINESS IS AN INVESTOR OF THEIR HUMAN CAPITAL. AND EVERYONE IS LOOKING FOR A RETURN ON THEIR INVESTMENT. YOUR ROLE AS A LEADER IS TO HELP DELIVER A RETURN.” GISELLE KOVARY GENERATIONAL EXPERT, PRESIDENT & CO-FOUNDER, N-GEN PEOPLE PERFORMANCE
Organizations today face not only the challenge of attracting and retaining employees, but also managing a workforce often comprised of five generational cohorts, all with differing priorities and values. Giselle Kovary conducted Canada’s firstever national Gen Z survey and shared her findings on what the industry’s youngest employees will bring to the table, what we should expect from emerging Millennial leaders, and how leaders can leverage these generational differences to build an impactful and collaborative team. Watch an exclusive interview with Giselle and Michael Graydon, CEO of FCPC.

“WE’RE JUST STARTING TO SCRATCH THE SURFACE OF WHAT’S GOING TO BE POSSIBLE WITH THESE PRODUCTS. AND THAT’S VERY EXCITING!” SÉBASTIEN ST-LOUIS CO-FOUNDER & CEO, HEXO CORP.
As we marked the first year of cannabis legalization in Canada and entered into the world of legalized edibles, Sébastien St-Louis offered insights on the state of the industry, perspective on the highly-regulated landscape under which it operates, and how edibles are poised to change the Canadian market. Industry leaders were encouraged to explore the exponential possibilities the legalization of edibles will create and get involved in a regulated, up-and-coming industry that is bound to change the Canadian marketplace for years to come.

“THE WAGE MECHANISM IS BROKEN. DESPITE THE FACT THAT THE UNEMPLOYMENT RATE IS AT A RECORD LOW, WAGES ARE NOT RISING.”
“IF YOU’RE NOT READY TO EMBRACE THE LATEST TECHNOLOGY, I’M HERE TODAY TO TELL YOU THAT THIS IS THE SLOWEST THINGS WILL EVER BE MOVING.”
BENJAMIN TAL DEPUTY CHIEF ECONOMIST, CIBC WORLD MARKETS
AMBER MAC DIGITAL MAVERICK & PRESIDENT, AMBERMAC MEDIA
Rated the #1 speaker at the CEO & Executive Leadership Conference for the third year in a row, Benjamin Tal returned to share his witty assessment on international trade, ever-changing labour and market dynamics, and where Canada is within the global economic cycle. Well known for his ability to translate economic forecast and analysis into information that can be used for business planning, Tal offered insight on the current populist movement, the impeding, trade-war induced fog, the increasingly inaccessible housing market, and the persistent gap between acquired skills and available jobs.
The average household with two teenage children will own roughly 50 connected devices by 2022; how do we seize this technology, keep it at home, and leverage it? Entrepreneur and digital maverick Amber Mac encouraged leaders to explore the practice of relentless adaptation and find the courage to take advantage of disruptive new technologies to avoid being disrupted by them. Much of the technology we’re seeing today is being driven by the next generation and how they want to access information. Therefore we must strive to stay open to crazy ideas—they will be important to your business success in the coming years.

“WITHOUT DEVIATION FROM THE NORM, PROGRESS IS NOT POSSIBLE. HAVE YOU LOOKED INTO THE MIRROR AND FIGURED OUT WHAT YOU’RE FIGHTING FOR AND WHAT YOU’RE FIGHTING AGAINST? ” JUSTIN KINGSLEY STORYTELLER, STRATEGIST, CREATIVE DIRECTOR
We are all deeply in tune with the history of our products. But do our consumers really care about the past of a product they’re looking to buy today? Justin Kingsley, former Press Secretary under Prime Minister Paul Martin and named one of Canada’s most creative people by Marketing Magazine, encouraged us to get to know our consumers better, using case studies from his personal archive to motivate us to think of new ways to make our brands stand out.
“YOU ARE THE LEADERS OF AN INDUSTRY THAT CREATES THE PRODUCTS, THE JOBS, AND THE WEALTH THAT OUR COUNTRY DEPENDS ON.” STEPHEN HARPER 22ND PRIME MINISTER OF CANADA
The Right Honourable Stephen Harper offered his unique insight as a trained economist with a decade of experience leading a G7 nation, sharing his perspective on the technological disruption of the current political arena and the growing imbalance of global trade relationships ahead of Canada’s 43rd general election. While stable and responsive politics are an essential ingredient to a strong society, the populous trend is not going to stop until the issues driving it are effectively addressed.
