Cleaned – A perfect target, in which the shooter hits a 10 on each of the 10 targets on the sheet for a score of 100. Can also be used to refer to a perfect match. Front sight – The sight attached to the end of the barrel of the rifle, holding the front aperture. Electronic targets – A target system that uses microphones and sound waves from the bullet or pellet going through the paper to send to a monitor on each point. Iron sights – Sights that employ no magnification. Kneeling – Shooting from a kneeling position with a sling and kneeling roll to support the position. Off hand – The unsupported standing position. Perfect match score – In air rifle and smallbore, 600 is perfect. Prone – Shooting from a lying position. Record shots – Also known as “shots for record,” those shots that are counted toward the match score, with “sighters” not included. Relay – One group of shooters firing the match at the same time. 2018-19 NEBRASKA RIFLE
NU RIFLE TEAM POISED FOR NCAA TITLE RUN Nebraska rifle Head Coach Ashley MacAllister enters her fifth year as the team begins the 2018-19 season. Rick Johnson joins her as assistant coach in his fourth season at Nebraska. MacAllister and Johnson led the Huskers in breaking the school record for most consecutive trips to the NCAA Championships in 2017-18 and will look to secure a seventh consecutive top-eight finish in 2018-19. “This year I want the team to be more competitive,” MacAllister said. “We have very competitive athletes in our program, and I don’t feel like we have been able to fully show that to everyone.” Seniors Nina Radulovic, Hannah Virga and Rachel Yager will be relied upon as the primary sources of leadership for Nebraska this season. All three saw significant action in 2017-18 and will be expected to lead the Huskers both on and off the range. The Huskers retain a solid junior class in addition to the three seniors, including AllAmerican Samantha Peterson. She is joined by Kayla Gadeken, Maddie Korthas, Sarah Sutton and transfer Bailey Powell. All five will seek to step into leadership roles on and off the range following the graduation of All-American Dacotah Faught. “We lost Dacotah (Faught) last year, which we will never be able to replace what she brought to the team, but losing one still means that we have the core of our team still intact,” MacAllister said. “My upperclassmen have done a fabulous job stepping up and leading us in the right direction during preseason.” Radulovic enters her senior season as an established leader of the Nebraska rifle team. Radulovic has been a source of consistency on the range for the past two seasons, competing in 28 out of 29 matches that included two appearances in both the GARC and NCAA Championships. Radulovic has earned Big Ten Distinguished Scholar and academic All-Big Ten honors, while also claiming a Sam Foltz Hero 27 Leadership Award. Virga looks to cement her status as a leader for the team following a breakout junior season. Virga was a squadded team member in 11 matches last season including the GARC Championships. Virga will be counted on for leadership off the range as well as a two-time member of the Tom Osborne Citizenship Team. Yager will try to shoulder more weight this season after seeing moderate action in 201718. Yager will be relied on for leadership in the classroom as a two-time Big Ten Distinguished Scholar and a two-time academic All-Big Ten choice.
Nina Radulovic will lead the Huskers on and off the range in 2018-19. The senior from Belgrade, Serbia will be relied on as the Huskers pursue their seventh consecutive NCAA Championships appearance. Peterson was a squadded member for both disciplines in every match last season, including both the GARC and NCAA Championships. Peterson will be relied on for leadership both on and off the range as a two-time member of the Tom Osborne Citizenship Team. Gadeken looks to shoulder more weight in her junior season after seeing significant action in 2017-18. She was a squadded member for five matches last season, including the GARC and NCAA Championships. Korthas saw considerable action during 201718 and will look to build upon her success. She competed in both disciplines for all but two matches last season and will be counted on for leadership on and off the range. Sutton hopes to compete for regular action in the Nebraska rotation in both disciplines as a junior. Despite seeing limited action in 2017-18, Sutton hopes to play a part in Nebraska’s pursuit of a seventh consecutive NCAA Championships appearance. Powell plans to make an immediate impact for the Huskers. Her career-high air rifle score (597) matches Virga’s current school record. Powell will also look to provide leadership off the range.
Sophomores Mari Butler, Emily Cheramie and Elizabeth Ewert round out the list of returners. Cheramie saw the most action in 2017-18 as a squadded member of the smallbore team for every match including the GARC and NCAA Championships. Butler and Ewert saw limited action in 2017-18 but will look to be regular contributors in 2018-19. Three incoming freshmen join the returners. Kinga Aletto (Sarasota, Fla.), Elena Flake (Brunswick, Maine) and Elizabeth Lorentz (Seely Lake, Mont.) will look to be regular contributors to the team in their debut season. “We have three incoming freshmen and a junior transfer that we have added to the team this year,” MacAllister said. “So though we lost one last year we have plenty who will be able to make an impact on the team. Bailey comes from UTEP where she has had two great years. Ibby (Elizabeth Lorentz), Kinga, and Elena this far into the year have already shot personal bests and continue to get better every day.” Nebraska will open the 2018-19 season with a home match against defending national champion Kentucky on Oct. 6. The next weekend NU will travel to Fairbanks, Alaska, to face Ohio State on Oct. 13 and Alaska the following day. McAllister, Johnson and the Huskers will round out October with a trip to Morgantown to face West Virginia on Oct. 21. Following a bye week, Nebraska will travel to Ohio to face Akron on Nov. 3 and Morehead State on Nov. 4. In the last match of the fall season, the Huskers will make a trip to Alabama to face Jacksonville State on Nov. 10. Nebraska will begin 2019 in New York with a match against Army West Point on Jan. 12 and Coast Guard the following day on Jan. 13. The following week the Huskers will host Navy on Jan. 18, and N.C. State on Jan. 20 at the Nebraska Rifle Range. The match against N.C. State will serve as Nebraska’s Senior Day. Two weeks later, NU will travel to Oxford to face Ole Miss on Feb. 2. The next day Nebraska will face Memphis in Tennessee on Feb. 3. Following a bye week the Huskers will compete in their NCAA Qualifier match in Murray, Ky., on Feb. 17. The GARC Championships will take place Feb. 22-23 in Akron, Ohio. The NCAA Championships will be hosted by West Virginia on March 8-9.

GREAT AMERICA RIFLE CONFERENCE Nebraska joined the Great America Rifle Conference in 2004-05 after seven years as an independent program. The conference, which enters its 22nd year of operation, includes Nebraska, Army West Point, Kentucky, Memphis, Mississippi, West Virginia, Navy, Akron and North Carolina State. Before joining the organization, the Huskers faced nearly a month-long break between qualifiers and the NCAA Championships. As a member of the GARC, Nebraska can compete for the conference championship in the interim, allowing it to gauge its performance before heading to nationals. Since joining the GARC, Nebraska has finished as high as a programbest second place at the ensuing NCAA Championships. For more information visit the conference web site at GARCRifle.com.

BILL MOOS
Athletic Director (Second Year) Washington (1973)
ADMINISTRATIVE/ LEADERSHIP EXPERIENCE
• Athletic Director (Nebraska, 2017-Present) • Athletic Director (Washington State, 2010-17) • Athletic Director (Oregon, 1995-2007) • Athletic Director (Montana, 1990-95) • Associate Athletic Director (Washington State (1987-90) • Assistant Athletic Director (Washington State, 1982-87) • NCAA Division I Football Oversight Committee • NCAA Division I Football Competition Committee • NCAA Division I Football Recruiting Ad Hoc Working Group (Co-Chair) • NCAA Division I Football Oversight Camps/ Clinics Subcommittee (Chair) • Rose Bowl Management Committee • Big Ten Program and Budget Review Committee Honor the past. Live the present. Create the future. Nine simple words that carry impressive significance and undeniable responsibility. Words that Nebraska’s new athletic director uses to lead his programs and set the tone for building champions in competition and in life. William H. (Bill) Moos was named Nebraska’s Athletic Director on Oct. 15, 2017, and fully assumed those responsibilities on Oct. 23. Moos, who became the 15th athletic director in the history of the storied Cornhusker program, brings nearly 25 years of experience as an athletic director at three Division I schools (Washington State, Oregon, Montana) with him to Nebraska. More importantly, he brings an impressive track record of success in building outstanding programs, developing long-term relationships, and for doing what is best for his schools, its fans and most importantly, its student-athletes. “When you name the top three, four, five athletic programs in the great positions as an athletic director, Nebraska is in that same breath,” Moos said at his introductory press conference at Memorial Stadium. “I want you to know that my motto has always been, in the 25 years I have been a Division I athletic director and it will be here too is very simple - honor the past, live the present, create the future.” In his first six months at Nebraska, Moos made three coaching hires. He drew universal praise for hiring Scott Frost, the 2017 consensus national coach of the year, as Nebraska’s head football coach in December. Following the spring semester, Moos also hired Mark Hankins to coach the men’s golf team and Sean Maymi to lead the men’s tennis program.
Moos also oversaw several team successes in his first six months in Lincoln. He watched the volleyball team win its fifth national title and second in three seasons in December. In 2018, both the men’s and women’s gymnastics teams finished in the top six at the NCAA Championships, while bowling finished third and rifle finished eighth. Nebraska also continued its excellence in the classroom, producing four CoSIDA Academic All-Americans, including three first-team selections. The awards increased Nebraska’s nation-leading total to 333 all-time CoSIDA Academic All-Americans across all sports. Moos came to Lincoln after spending seven-plus years at Washington State (2010-17). He previously served 12 highly successful seasons as the athletic director at Oregon (1995-2007). During his time at his alma mater, Moos wasted little time in making his impact felt in Cougar Athletics, spearheading a department-wide rebranding effort with Nike while securing a 10-year, $35 million marketing rights agreement with IMG College. In addition, the 2004 WSU Alumni Achievement Award winner gained Regents approval for a $130 million addition and remodel of Martin Stadium, featuring a remodeled press box with luxury seating, including suites, loge boxes and club room. Also included in the project was a state-of-the-art video board and an 80,000-square-foot football operations building that served as the stadium’s showpiece and opened in May 2014. As the dean of Pac-12 athletic directors, Moos was at the forefront of the conference’s procurement of a 12-year, $3 billion television contract with FOX and ESPN, a landmark agreement in college athletics. Under Moos’ direction, the Cougar Athletic Fund’s Annual Giving program saw an 81 percent increase in gifts while CAF donor members rose from nearly 4,000 to more than 7,500. Additional facility enhancements under Moos included a center-hung video board in Beasley Coliseum that was installed prior to the 2011-12 season, giving Cougar basketball one of the premier fan experiences in the conference. An indoor golf hitting facility was also completed in early 2013, and Lower Soccer Field underwent a major renovation making the venue TV-ready while also providing one of the best playing surfaces on the West Coast, along with the addition of lights and a new scoreboard. Other enhancements were made to the Moobery track facility, Bailey-Brayton Field, the basketball practice gym, Gibb Pool and the Simmelink Indoor tennis courts. In Moos’ seven years at WSU, Cougar student-athletes and coaches accounted for 805 academic all-conference selections, 130 allconference accolades, 45 All-America honors and three Pac-12 Coach-of-the-Year honors. Moos served as Oregon’s director of athletics from July of 1995 to 2007. While at Oregon he oversaw a 17-sport athletic department that grew to national prominence during his tenure.Oregon’s annual athletic department budget grew from $18.5 million in his first year to more than $40 million by 2007, becoming 100 percent self-sufficient during that time. Under his direction the Duck Athletic Fund donor base increased from 4,930 to 12,290, resulting in an annual gifts increase from $4.1 million to $15.3 million. Moos initiated more than $160 million in facility improvements while at Oregon. Included in that was the $90 million Autzen Stadium renovation in 2002, which added 12,000 new seats, 32 new suites, a new Club at Autzen and a new press box to the stadium. In his 12 years, the Ducks ranked first in Pac-10 football attendance 11 times, reaching 100 percent capacity in each of those seasons.

During Moos’ tenure, Oregon athletics captured 13 Pac-10 championships across six different sports. He increased opportunities for women by adding two intercollegiate programs, soccer and lacrosse, and negotiated an all-inclusive shoe and apparel contract with Nike, one of only 14 in the country at the time. From an academic standpoint during Moos’ tenure, Oregon student-athletes collected 722 academic all-conference selections, 34 Academic All-America selections, nine NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship recipients and one NCAA Top Ten Award. During his first stint as a collegiate athletic director at Montana (1990-95), Moos created an academic support program and hired its first athletic academic coordinator, developed a facility enhancement plan that created more than $4 million in improvements, and lifted the school’s fund-raising efforts to show a 300 percent increase in private and corporate gifts. Academically, Montana student-athletes were equally successful as the athletic department achieved a graduation rate 20 percent higher than the general university enrollment. Under Moos’ watch Montana garnered 269 academic all-conference selections, five Academic All-Americans and two NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship recipients. Moos began his athletic career as an athletic administrator in 1982 as assistant athletic director at Washington State. He also served as the school’s associate athletic director (1988-90). At Washington State, he was director of development for more than five years and associate director for nearly two years, supervising all external operations. Prior to that, he managed and owned private businesses in Washington and Oregon for eight years. He was a student assistant football coach at Washington State for the 1973 season, then spent part of 1974 in Washington, D.C., serving as a government intern. Raised on a wheat and cattle ranch in eastern Washington, Moos attended high school in Olympia when his father served in the governor’s cabinet. Moos earned his bachelor’s degree in history from WSU and was a three-year letterman in football before concluding his collegiate career by representing Washington State in the 1972 East-West Shrine All-Star Game in San Francisco. He served as co-captain on the Cougars’ 1972 squad and garnered first-team All-Pac-8 Conference honors. Moos and his wife Kendra have three daughters: Christa, Brittany and Kaiti; and two sons, Bo and Benjamin.

2018-19 NEBRASKA RIFLE
HANK M. BOUNDS, PH.D
University of Nebraska President (Fourth Year) • Southern Mississippi (1991)
On January 12, 2015, the Board of Regents appointed lifelong educator Hank M. Bounds, Ph.D., as the seventh president of the University of Nebraska (NU). Bounds began his tenure on April 13, 2015, bringing a demonstrated record of expanding opportunities for students, improving higher education outcomes and efficiencies, and building successful partnerships with policymakers, donors and business leaders. He has continued working to improve educational outcomes and build partnerships since his arrival in Nebraska. Bounds has connected with leaders within the university, in the private sector, in government and in the military to increase collaboration and innovation. In late
2015, he worked with the University of Nebraska Foundation to launch a two-year, $200 million fundraising initiative to increase access and create success for current and future students. In 2015, Bounds also launched a university-wide Food for Health initiative—the first of several programs designed to increase collaborations across NU and incentivize new research that addresses critical issues important to Nebraskans and result in greater research funding opportunities. Supporting quality teaching is an important focus for Bounds, and in spring of 2016, he made a $3.5 million strategic investment to hire additional faculty and expand NU’s online course offerings. And, Bounds announced in late 2015 that NU’s enrollment has grown to its highest level in 22 years — marking progress toward the Board of Regents’ goals to expand educational access to Nebraskans and attract more talent to the state to meet workforce needs. Bounds grew up in Mississippi. His service in the Army National Guard helped him pay for college, and he earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Southern Mississippi and a doctorate from the University of Mississippi. Bounds has devoted his 25-year career to helping change students’ lives in the same way education opened doors in his own life. He began as a high school teacher, then rose to principal, superintendent and state superintendent before becoming Mississippi’s commissioner of higher education in 2009. In that role, he oversaw a complex system of eight public universities.
Today, under his leadership, the University of Nebraska enrolls nearly 52,000 students, employs over 13,000 faculty and staff, and operates with an annual budget of 2.5 billion dollars—including $235 million in research expenditures. He has identified four cornerstones that will separate NU from the rest of higher education and define a new era in university history: 1) The University of Nebraska will be the best university in the nation to be a student. 2) The University of Nebraska will transform lives through research and innovation. 3) The University of Nebraska will work hand in hand with our partners to achieve our goals. 4) The University of Nebraska will win with people. Bounds holds a faculty appointment in the College of Education and Human Sciences at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and courtesy faculty appointments in the Colleges of Education at the University of Nebraska at Omaha and the University of Nebraska at Kearney. He serves on the board of directors for several organizations, including the National Association of System Heads (NASH), the Robert B. Daugherty Water for Food Institute, the Nebraska Innovation Campus Development Corporation, the Nebraska Advanced Manufacturing Coalition and the Consultation Committee for US Strategic Command (USSTRATCOM). He is also on the Board of Governors for the Knights of AKSARBEN. Bounds and his wife, Susie, are the parents of a son, Will, and a daughter, Caroline. They reside in Lincoln.

2018-19 NEBRASKA RIFLE
2017-18 BROUGHT NU RECORDS, ALL-AMERICANS
2017-18 Nebraska Rifle Team (from left): Hannah Virga, Dacotah Faught, Sarah Sutton, Rachel Yager, Emily Cheramie, Nina Radulovic, Elizabeth Ewert, Maddie Korthas, Samantha Peterson, Kayla Gadeken, Mari Butler, Katie Brown. The 2017-18 Nebraska rifle team concluded a record-breaking season under fourth-year head coach Ashley MacAllister and third-year assistant coach Rick Johnson. With their sixth consecutive selection to the 2018 NCAA Championships, the Huskers broke the school record for most consecutive appearances. The milestone is the most in Nebraska history since rifle became a varsity sport in 1998. By the conclusion of the season the Huskers had accumulated a school record, several personal records, three all-conference honorees and an All-American. Dacotah Faught finished her senior year on a high note, earning All-America honors from the NRA for her achievements. The award marked the second consecutive season that Faught earned second-team honors in air rifle. The accolade marks her third All-America award, after bringing home second-team honors in air rifle last season and second-team honors in smallbore in 2015 at UT Martin. Faught led the Huskers in air rifle over the course of the 2017-18 season, maintaining an average of 590.71 and posting the team’s highest individual air rifle score of the season when she fired 596 against Kentucky on Nov. 19. Nebraska journeyed to Charleston, S.C., March 9-10 to compete in the NCAA Championships in the final outing of the season. The record-breaking appearance began on March 9 as the Huskers finished the day in seventh at the conclusion of smallbore action. Emily Cheramie led the team with a score of 583, pushing NU to a team score of 2,310. The effort landed Nebraska in a tie for seventh with Ohio State. Another tie in the centershots tiebreaker (100 each) forced a second tiebreaker. Kayla Gadeken’s mark of 573 ultimately pushed Nebraska ahead as the scores deferred to the usually non-counted fifth squad member. The next day Nebraska, led by Faught (589), notched a team air rifle score of 2,345. An overall score of 4,655 put the Huskers behind Ohio State (4,664) to place eighth. An NCAA Qualifier match against Murray State preceded the Huskers’ trip to the Championships. A season-high team smallbore score (2,324) was not enough to push the Huskers past the Racers, with a final score of 4,672-4,710. Cheramie’s mark of 585 paced NU in smallbore, while Samantha Peterson led the way in air rifle with 591 to contribute to Nebraska’s team score of 2,343. The Huskers showed resolve and focus in a whirlwind season, particularly in the fall when Head Coach Ashley MacAllister went on maternity leave. “I am most impressed with the culture that we have created this year,” MacAllister said. “Everyone on this team has the ability to face the hard things that often in the past I have seen athletes try to avoid. I am so proud of the girls and how they were able to handle the craziness from the beginning of the season. It is hard when your head coach isn’t around fulltime for half of the season. I can’t thank [Assistant Coach Rick Johnson] enough for stepping up and taking the lead while I was out in the fall.”
The Nebraska rifle team opened the 2017-18 season at the NCAA Test Event in Charleston, S.C., on Sept. 24, where a combined score of 4,631 placed the Huskers in third behind Ole Miss and N.C. State. Nina Radulovic paved the way for NU in smallbore with a second-place score of 580. Faught led the Huskers in air rifle, firing an impressive 591. The match served as an exhibition before NU hosted West Virginia in the first match of the regular season. The Huskers hosted top-ranked West Virginia on Oct. 14, falling to the Mountaineers 4,653-4,716 in the first home match of the season. Radulovic and Gadeken led the Huskers in smallbore, each notching 578. Dacotah Faught paved the way in air rifle with 592. The Huskers finished with scores of 2,304 in smallbore and 2,349 in air rifle. Army West Point journeyed to Lincoln on Oct. 21 in Nebraska’s second home match of the season. NU’s aggregate score of 4,631 was enough to overcome Army’s 4,630 after the Huskers hung on to a lead despite falling four points short in air rifle. A strong smallbore score (2,298), led by a pair of 578 scores from Faught and Radulovic, propelled the Huskers to a win. Peterson paved the way to Nebraska’s air rifle score of 2,333, notching a score of 588. The Huskers traveled to Fort Worth, Texas, Oct. 28-29 to face TCU and Memphis in their first road match of the season. Nebraska scored an overall score of 2,300 in smallbore, led by Peterson’s score of 579. Radulovic notched a mark of 589 to pace NU in air rifle, contributing to an aggregate score of 2,336. TCU and Memphis topped the Huskers’ overall score of 4,636, as TCU took first with 4,711 and Memphis brought in second with 4,663. Nebraska was not done yet, however. The Huskers defeated Memphis on the second day of match action in Fort Worth, 4,665-4,640. Virga’s career-high smallbore score (585) led NU’s smallbore effort, ending in an aggregate mark of 2,315. This ultimately decided the match as the two teams tied in air rifle, 2,350-2,350. Faught led the team in air rifle with a score of 592. The Huskers’ final appearance of 2017 came in Colorado Springs, Colo., as they faced the fifthranked Kentucky Wildcats on Nov. 19. Nebraska fell short (4,663-4,696) but fired its highest smallbore score of the season in the process, posting a mark of 2,320 as a team. NU was led by Cheramie’s career-high score of 585. Faught led the team in air rifle by tying her own career-high score of 596, contributing to an overall score of 2,343. The next day Nebraska competed against Kentucky, Air Force and Ohio State. The Huskers lost a tiebreaker with Air Force (Inner tens: 280-257) to place fourth with a score of 4,672. Kentucky took first with a mark of 4,687 and Ohio State grabbed second with 4,682. Nebraska fired its secondhighest smallbore score of the season (2,316), led by Virga’s career-high score of 587. Virga also led the team in air rifle with a score of 590, helping the Huskers to a season-high score of 2,356.
11 TOP-SIX NCAA TEAM FINISHES SINCE 2000
In the first match of 2018, the Huskers traveled to Columbus, Ohio, to take on the Ohio State Buckeyes on Jan. 13. Nebraska’s aggregate score of 4,667 was not enough to top Ohio State’s score of 4,690. Peterson’s smallbore score of 583 led the Huskers on their way to a team score of 2,317. A team score of 2,350 in air rifle, led by Faught’s mark of 592 was not enough to push NU past the Buckeyes. Nebraska’s second match in Ohio was against Ole Miss the next day. The Rebels topped the Huskers, 4,660-4,669. NU notched a mark of 2,311 in smallbore, led by Radulovic’s score of 580. Peterson paced the Huskers in air rifle with a score of 590, helping to push the Huskers to a team score of 2,349. In their next appearance, the Huskers traveled to Annapolis, Md., to compete against Navy on Jan. 19. A final score of 4,682-4,655 put Nebraska on top. NU’s smallbore score of 2,320 tied the team’s season high, fueled by Virga’s score of 586. Nebraska widened the gap in air rifle, producing a score of 2,362. Faught led the Huskers with her second-highest score of the season (595). The Huskers took on North Carolina State the next day (Jan. 20). Nebraska came out on top (4,670-6,655) to finish the weekend 2-0. Nebraska set a season-high smallbore score (2,321), led by a pair of 583 scores from Cheramie and Peterson. Faught fired a score of 593 to pace NU in air rifle, contributing to a team score of 2,349. The impressive smallbore effort was enough for the Huskers to survive being outscored in air rifle and win the match.
