A TRADITION OF SUCCESS

Coach Robin Krapfl continues to emphasize the principles of achieving excellence on and off the course in her 32nd season as Nebraska's head coach. It shows. Since Krapfl took the reins in 1987, the Huskers have: Earned a nation-leading 74 WGCA Scholastic All-America honors. In 1992, all five of Krapfl’s starters were honored with this distinction. It was the first time in women’s college golf history that a team had accomplished such a feat. Again in 2003, five Nebraska starters earned Scholastic All-America honors. Won 126 academic all-conference awards. Produced two NCAA All-Americans, two conference champions, the 1990 Edith Munson Award winner, a twotime TrueTemper Scholastic Award honoree, one Big 12 Golfer of the Year, one Nebraska Student-Athlete-of-theYear and 23 all-conference (16 Big Eight, 6 All-Big 12, 1 All-Big Ten) awards. Qualified for 11 NCAA Regionals. Participated in the first three NCAA Tournaments in school history with trips in 2000, 2003 and 2006. Posted a team GPA of 3.71 in 2006-07, the fifth-highest team GPA in the nation.

HUSKERS AIM FOR 12TH NCAA REGIONAL

In their first season of Big Ten Conference competition in 2011-12, the Huskers just missed an NCAA Regional berth while finishing sixth at the Big Ten Tournament. Madeleine Sheils earned All-Big Ten honors while tying for third at the Big Ten Championships. She also earned a spot in the NCAA Central Regional as an individual. Nebraska had its streak of three consecutive NCAA Regional bids end in 2009, but the Huskers will focus on earning their 12th regional bid since 1994 in 2018-19. NU advanced to its third consecutive regional in 2008, qualifying as the No. 17 seed in the NCAA Central Regional in Austin, Texas. The Huskers missed a berth to their fourth NCAA Championships by just one stroke, finishing in a tie for 10th with a score of 903 on the University of Texas Golf Course. NU qualified for regionals on the heels of a solid sixthplace finish at the Big 12 Championships in Stillwater, Okla. Along with their strong play on the course, all five starters in Nebraska’s lineup earned academic All-Big 12 recognition. In 2007, NU earned a second straight NCAA Regional bid with a fourth-place Big 12 finish. NU claimed three team tournament titles, led by All-Big 12 performer Elli Brown. NU also led the conference with five academic All-Big 12 selections. The Huskers produced one of the best seasons in school history in 2006, with a 20th-place finish at the NCAA Championships in Columbus, Ohio. Nebraska also posted its

best-ever score at the NCAA Championships by firing a 1,221 over four rounds, 18 strokes better than the 1,239 NU shot at the 2000 NCAA Championships. The final-round 299 was NU’s best NCAA Championships mark in history. The 2006 Huskers finished eighth at the NCAA Central Regional after entering as the No. 15 seed in the 21-team field. The Huskers also tied for fourth at the Big 12 Championships at the Country Club of Lincoln. NU also produced the then-best team stroke average in school history (304.88). Stephanie Ruiz earned second-team All-Big 12 honors and finished in a tie for 38th at the 2006 NCAA Championships. In 2003, the Huskers played host to the NCAA Central Regional, held at Lincoln's Firethorn Golf Club. Nebraska was ranked 19th going into the tournament, but ascended to fifth place to qualify for the NCAA Championships in West Lafayette, Ind. The Huskers closed the season strong by finishing 22nd at the NCAA Championships. NU finished with a four-round total of 1,281 led by Sarah Sasse’s 40thplace showing. Krapfl, a native of West Point, Neb., has been associated with the Husker program since 1979 when she played collegiate golf for Nebraska (1979-82). A three-year letterwinner, she graduated from Nebraska with a bachelor's degree in business administration in 1984. Krapfl went on to become a PGA Professional at The Country Club of Lincoln, where she worked as an assistant under head professional and former Husker coach Jerry Fisher. Krapfl also worked under Fisher as an assistant for the Huskers from 1984 to 1987. As head coach, Krapfl has guided the Huskers to 30 tournament titles. She is only the third coach in Nebraska women's golf history, following former men's coach Larry Romjue and Fisher. She is married to Richard Krapfl and the couple has two sons, Robert and Ryan.

Arizona (2016)

Kolton Lapa was named the first full-time assistant coach for Nebraska women’s golf on May 17, 2018, and officially began his role for the Huskers on June 1. Lapa, who spent the 2012-13 season as a freshman on the Nebraska men’s golf team, before returning to his home state of Arizona to compete for the Wildcats, returned to Nebraska after spending two seasons as an assistant coach at Denver. In his first season at Denver, Lapa helped the Pioneers claim the Summit League title before adding a runner-up finish at the Summit League Championship in 2018. “I’m extremely excited to add Kolton Lapa as our first fulltime assistant coach for the women’s golf program,” Nebraska Head Coach Robin Krapfl said. “Kolton is an outstanding recruiter, great at building relationships, and is a very good on-course coach. Kolton’s positive and enthusiastic attitude and his skill set will be key components of moving our team forward and getting Nebraska back where it belongs. I believe he is on the fast track to being one of the great coaches in our profession, and I look forward to him coaching at Nebraska.” Lapa helped the Pioneers to NCAA Regional play each of the last two years, including a tie for 12th in an 18-team field at Tallahassee, Fla., in 2018. In 2017-18, Denver set the school record for team stroke average at 296.06. Denver also finished 12th at the 2017 NCAA Regional in Albuquerque, N.M. He served in the role of interim head coach at Denver from September to November of 2017, including victories at the GolfWeek Invitational and the Ron Moore Invitational. The Pioneers also opened the season by defeating four top-25 teams at the Dick McGuire Invitational before finishing fourth at the Maryb S. Kauth Invitational in San Antonio. “I am very excited to return to Nebraska to coach with Robin,” Lapa said. “Lincoln has always had a special place in my heart, and I believe with the resources that the University of Nebraska has to offer that the sky is the limit. I could not be more excited to see where this program can go from here. I am looking forward to coaching the talented young women

currently on the team to give them the best student-athlete experience possible. Fall can’t come soon enough.” Lapa continued the development of junior Sophie Newlove, who captured the Summit League individual title at Arbor Links in Nebraska City in 2018. In just two seasons at Denver, Lapa helped coach Pioneer golfers to seven All-Summit League honors, including four first-team awards. On the recruiting front, Lapa assisted in the signing of a Minnesota High School state champion and a transfer who earned All-Summit League honors in her first season at DU. Denver’s 2018-19 freshman class included a pair of California golfers ranked among the top 50 nationally in the GolfWeek recruiting rankings. He also found international success on the recruiting trail for the Pioneers. Lapa completed his collegiate playing career at the University of Arizona in 2015-16, where he produced four top20 finishes including a pair of top-10 efforts on his way to a 74.81 stroke average for the Wildcats. Lapa was a team captain at Arizona as a junior and senior and was also a member of Arizona’s Student-Athlete Advisory Committee in 2015-16. He was chosen to play in the PGA Tour Northern Trust Collegiate Challenge, representing Arizona while partnering with PGA Tour player Ricky Barnes. Lapa earned his bachelor’s degree from Arizona in 2016 as an economy and industry major. Lapa opened his college career at Nebraska, where he set the school’s 54-hole scoring record by a freshman (211) at the Herb Wimberly Intercollegiate (Oct. 22-23, 2012). He captured Big Ten Golfer-of-the-Week honors on Oct. 24, 2012 and again on Feb. 27, 2013, after tying for fifth at the Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate. He also tied for 22nd individually at the 2013 Big Ten Championships. He led Nebraska with a 74.27 stroke average over 33 rounds as a freshman. He also competed in 15 rounds during the fall of 2013 before transferring to Arizona. Lapa graduated from Red Mountain High School in Mesa, where he led his team to a 2010 state title. He was a first-team all-state golfer in both 2010 and 2011. In 2012, Lapa won the 2012 Tucson City Junior Championship and tied for third at the Arizona Stroke Play Championship.

Washington State, B.A. (History) 1973 Family: Kendra (wife); Bo, Benjamin (sons); Christa, Brittany and Kati (daughters) Honor the past. Live the present. Create the future. Nine simple words that carry impressive significance and undeniable responsibility. Words that Nebraska’s new athletic director uses to lead his programs and set the tone for building champions in competition and in life. William H. (Bill) Moos was named Nebraska’s Athletic Director on Oct. 15, 2017, and fully assumed those responsibilities on Oct. 23. Moos, who became the 15th athletic director in the history of the storied Cornhusker program, brings nearly 25 years of experience as an athletic director at three Division I schools (Washington State, Oregon, Montana) with him to Nebraska. More importantly, he brings an impressive track record of success in building outstanding programs, developing longterm relationships, and for doing what is best for his schools, its fans and most importantly, its student-athletes. “When you name the top three, four, five athletic programs in the great positions as an athletic director, Nebraska is in that same breath,” Moos said at his introductory press conference at Memorial Stadium. “I want you to know that my motto has always been, in the 25 years I have been a Division I athletic director and it will be here too is very simple - honor the past, live the present, create the future.”

In his first six months at Nebraska, Moos made three coaching hires. He drew universal praise for hiring Scott Frost, the 2017 consensus national coach of the year, as Nebraska’s head football coach in December. Following the spring semester, Moos also hired Mark Hankins to coach the men’s golf team and Sean Maymi to lead the men’s tennis program. Moos also oversaw several team successes in his first six months in Lincoln. He watched the volleyball team win its fifth national title and second in three seasons in December. In 2018, both the men’s and women’s gymnastics teams finished in the top six at the NCAA Championships, while bowling finished third and rifle finished eighth. Nebraska also continued its excellence in the classroom, producing four CoSIDA Academic All-Americans, including three first-team selections. The awards increased Nebraska’s nation-leading total to 333 all-time CoSIDA Academic All-Americans across all sports. Moos came to Lincoln after spending seven-plus years at Washington State (2010-17). He previously served 12 highly successful seasons as the athletic director at Oregon (1995-2007). During his time at his alma mater, Moos wasted little time in making his impact felt in Cougar Athletics, spearheading a department-wide rebranding effort with Nike while securing a 10-year, $35 million marketing rights agreement with IMG College. In addition, the 2004 WSU Alumni Achievement Award winner gained Regents approval for a $130 million addition and remodel of Martin Stadium, featuring a remodeled press box with luxury seating, including suites, loge boxes and club room. Also included in the project was a state-of-the-art video board and an 80,000-square-foot football operations building that served as the stadium’s showpiece and opened in May 2014. As the dean of Pac-12 athletic directors, Moos was at the forefront of the conference’s procurement of a 12-year, $3 billion television contract with FOX and ESPN, a landmark agreement in college athletics. Under Moos’ direction, the Cougar Athletic Fund’s Annual Giving program saw an 81 percent increase in gifts while CAF donor members rose from nearly 4,000 to more than 7,500. Additional facility enhancements under Moos included a center-hung video board in Beasley Coliseum that was installed prior to the 2011-12 season, giving Cougar basketball one of the premier fan experiences in the conference. An indoor golf hitting facility was also completed in early 2013, and Lower Soccer Field underwent a major renovation making the venue TV-ready while also providing one of the best playing surfaces on the West Coast, along with the addition of lights and a new scoreboard. Other enhancements were made to the Moobery track facility, Bailey-Brayton Field, the basketball practice gym, Gibb Pool and the Simmelink Indoor tennis courts. In Moos’ seven years at WSU, Cougar student-athletes and coaches accounted for 805 academic all-conference selections, 130 all-conference accolades, 45 All-America honors and three Pac-12 Coach-of-the-Year honors. Moos served as Oregon’s director of athletics from July of 1995 to 2007. While at Oregon he oversaw a 17-sport athletic department that grew to national prominence during his tenure.Oregon’s annual athletic department budget grew from $18.5 million in his first year to more than $40 million by 2007, becoming 100 percent self-sufficient during that time. Under his direction the Duck Athletic Fund donor base increased from 4,930 to 12,290, resulting in an annual gifts increase from $4.1 million to $15.3 million. Moos initiated more than $160 million in facility improvements while at Oregon. Included in that was the $90 million Autzen

Stadium renovation in 2002, which added 12,000 new seats, 32 new suites, a new Club at Autzen and a new press box to the stadium. In his 12 years, the Ducks ranked first in Pac-10 football attendance 11 times, reaching 100 percent capacity in each of those seasons. During Moos’ tenure, Oregon athletics captured 13 Pac10 championships across six different sports. He increased opportunities for women by adding two intercollegiate programs, soccer and lacrosse, and negotiated an all-inclusive shoe and apparel contract with Nike, one of only 14 in the country at the time. From an academic standpoint during Moos’ tenure, Oregon student-athletes collected 722 academic allconference selections, 34 Academic All-America selections, nine NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship recipients and one NCAA Top Ten Award. During his first stint as a collegiate athletic director at Montana (1990-95), Moos created an academic support program and hired its first athletic academic coordinator, developed a facility enhancement plan that created more than $4 million in improvements, and lifted the school’s fund-raising efforts to show a 300 percent increase in private and corporate gifts. Academically, Montana student-athletes were equally successful as the athletic department achieved a graduation rate 20 percent higher than the general university enrollment. Under Moos’ watch Montana garnered 269 academic allconference selections, five Academic All-Americans and two NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship recipients. Moos began his athletic career as an athletic administrator in 1982 as assistant athletic director at Washington State. He also served as the school’s associate athletic director (1988-90). At Washington State, he was director of development for more than five years and associate director for nearly two years, supervising all external operations. Prior to that, he managed and owned private businesses in Washington and Oregon for eight years. He was a student assistant football coach at Washington State for the 1973 season, then spent part of 1974 in Washington, D.C., serving as a government intern. Raised on a wheat and cattle ranch in eastern Washington, Moos attended high school in Olympia when his father served in the governor’s cabinet. Moos earned his bachelor’s degree in history from WSU and was a three-year letterman in football before concluding his collegiate career by representing Washington State in the 1972 East-West Shrine All-Star Game in San Francisco. He served as co-captain on the Cougars’ 1972 squad and garnered first-team All-Pac-8 Conference honors. Moos and his wife Kendra have three daughters: Christa, Brittany and Kaiti; and two sons, Bo and Benjamin.

HANK M. BOUNDS, PH.D

UNIVERSITY BOARD OF REGENTS

University of Nebraska President Fourth Year Southern Mississippi (1991)

The Board of Regents consists of eight voting members elected by district for six-year terms, and four non-voting student Regents, one from each campus, who serve during their tenure as student body president. The board supervises the general operations of the university, and the control and direction of all expenditures. The board also includes a corporation secretary who manages all records including agendas, minutes, notices, policies and bylaws. Those documents can be found on the web at nebraska.edu/board/. The board meets regularly, primarily in Lincoln but also in Omaha and greater Nebraska. Persons wishing to provide information to the board or to appear before it should contact: Corporation Secretary, University of Nebraska, Varner Hall, 3835 Holdrege, Lincoln, NE 68583.

On Jan. 12, 2015, the Board of Regents appointed lifelong educator Hank M. Bounds, Ph.D., as the seventh president of the University of Nebraska. Bounds began his tenure as president on April 13, 2015, bringing with him a demonstrated record of expanding opportunities for students, improving higher education outcomes and efficiencies, and building successful partnerships with policymakers, donors and business leaders. He has continued working to improve educational outcomes and build partnerships since his arrival in Nebraska. Bounds has connected with leaders within the university, in the private sector, in government and in the military to increase collaboration and innovation. In late 2015, he worked with the University of Nebraska Foundation to launch a two-year, $200 million fundraising initiative to increase access and create success for current and future students. In 2015, Bounds also launched a university-wide Food for Health Initiative - the first of several programs designed to increase collaborations across NU and incentivize new research that addresses critical issues important to Nebraskans and result in greater research funding opportunities. Supporting quality teaching is an important focus for Bounds, and in the spring of 2016, he made a $3.5 million strategic investment to hire additional faculty and expand NU’s online course offerings. Bounds also announced late in 2015 that NU’s enrollment had grown to its highest level in 22 years - marking progress toward the Board of Regents’ goals to expand educational access to Nebraskans and attract more talent to the state to meet workforce needs. Bounds grew up in Mississippi. His service in the Army National Guard helped him pay for college, and he earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Southern Mississippi and a doctorate from the University of Mississippi. Bounds has devoted his 25-year career to helping change students’ lives in the same way education opened doors in his own life. He began as a high school teacher, then rose to principal, superintendent and state superintendent before becoming Mississippi’s commissioner of higher education in 2009. In that role, he oversaw a complex system of eight public universities. Today, under his leadership, the University of Nebraska enrolls nearly 52,000 students, employes over 13,000 faculty and staff, and operates with an annual budget of $2.5 billion including $235 million in research expenditures. He has identified four cornerstones that will separate NU from the rest of higher education and define a new era in university history: (1) The University of Nebraska will be the best university in the nation to be a student. (2) The University of Nebraska will transform lives through research and innovation. (3) The University of Nebraska will work hand in hand with our partners to achieve our goals. (4) The University of Nebraska will win with people. Bounds holds a faculty appointment in the College of Education and Human Sciences at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and courtesy faculty appointments in the Colleges of Education at the University of Nebraska at Omaha and the University of Nebraska at Kearney. He serves on the board of directors for several organizations, including the National Association of System Heads (NASH), the Robert B. Daugherty Water for Food Institute, the Nebraska Innovation Campus Development Corporation, the Nebraska Advanced Manufacturing Coalition and the Consultation Committee for U.S. Strategic Command (USSTRATCOM). He is also on the Board of Governors for the Knights of AKSARBEN. He and his wife, Susie, are the parents of a son, Will, and a daughter, Caroline. They reside in Lincoln.

2018-19 NEBRASKA WOMEN'S GOLF

HUSKERS AIM FOR RIGHT MIX IN PUSH FOR POSTSEASON

Junior Kate Smith, sophomore Noor Ahmed and freshman Kirsten Baete will try to help the Huskers find the right mixture of talent, experience and youth in 2018-19. A young Nebraska women’s golf team that does not feature a senior on its roster will look for the right mix of youth and experience to propel the Huskers to postseason play in 2018-19. “I’m extremely excited for the season,” Nebraska Coach Robin Krapfl said. “We have a great blend of experience and young talent, and it is without a doubt our longest hitting team. The potential is there to field a team of at least four players with above average length, plus a team of players who are capable of playing under par.” Nebraska’s potential for success in 2018-19 starts with Kate Smith. The junior from Detroit Lakes, Minn., set the Husker season record with her 73.66 stroke average as a sophomore in 2017-18. It followed a freshman season when she set the previous Husker record with a 73.90 stroke average. Last season, Smith led the Huskers with her tie for 19th individually at the Big Ten Championships, but she just missed her second straight bid as an individual to the NCAA Regional Championships. A three-time Big Ten Golfer-of-the-Week with nine individual top-10 tournament finishes in her first two seasons at Nebraska, Smith is also hungry for her first career collegiate tournament victory. “It is only a matter of time before Kate wins a college tournament,” Krapfl said. “She has the innate talent it takes to compete at the highest level. As her game has matured her low scores and her consistency have really improved. She is our rock and someone we will count on to help lead us to the postseason.” While Smith is poised to lead the Huskers, fellow junior Haley Thiele is ready to reclaim the form that led her to one of the top junior golf careers and freshman seasons in Nebraska history. As a sophomore in 2017-18, Thiele battled the lingering effects of a wrist injury that forced her to redshirt in 2016-17. As a true freshman in 2015-16, Thiele produced one of the best freshman seasons in Husker history with a then-record 75.63 stroke average that included a then-freshman record 67 at the UNLV Collegiate Showdown. A two-time WGCA Scholastic All-American, Thiele battled her way to a 78.85 stroke average last season, but has regained health and confidence during the offseason. She also has made adjustments to her swing that could help propel her to new heights in her fourth year in the Husker program. “I am so proud of Haley. She made a very hard decision to try another swing coach, and then put the work in it takes to make changes,” Krapfl said. “If there was a picture for hard

work it would be Haley. She deserves every success she has because she has put in the time to be great.” While Smith and Thiele will be looked to for leadership on and off the course at the top of the Husker lineup, fellow junior Jessica Haraden could battle to step into a greater role this season. The third-year golfer from Thousand Oaks, Calif., played 18 rounds for the Huskers as a sophomore and produced a 78.06 stroke average. Haraden carries a calm and humble approach to her game that has allowed her to trim her stroke average and could have her poised for greater gains in 2018-19. “Jess is one of those players that just kind of does her own thing and no single part of her game really stands out. She is just solid at everything,” Krapfl said. “She has steadily gotten better and will be right in the hunt to help this team accomplish our goals.” Another Californian, Noor Ahmed will be looked to for consistent scores in the heart of the Husker lineup. The sophomore from Folsom, Calif., improved throughout her freshman season while competing in all 29 rounds for the Big Red. Her 76.45 stroke average ranked fourth among the Huskers, but she was Nebraska’s No. 2 finisher at the 2018 Big Ten Championships when she tied for 40th. “Noor was a pleasant surprise last season. You never know how freshmen will handle that first collegiate season, but she was awesome,” Krapfl said. “She possesses a maturity in her personality and game that really helps those around her. She definitely has the ability to step up her game to another level and have a solid season.” While those four returning golfers expect to be in the mix for lineup spots throughout the season, Nebraska’s other sophomore, Hannah Thiele, could be a wildcard to the Huskers’ success. Thiele battled a back injury throughout her freshman season to compete in 22 rounds, but struggled with her strength and consistency. She got off to a solid start to the summer of 2018 before suffering a setback, which could affect her ability to contribute during the season. “So much depends on how her back holds up, and whether she can regain the confidence and distance she had before the injury,” Krapfl said. “She was making great progress in both areas before a setback this summer. We are not going to rush things, but we also know what she is capable of doing when she is on top of her game.” Nebraska’s five returning contributors from 2017-18 will be joined by five freshmen hoping to compete in their first

collegiate rounds in 2018-19. Redshirt freshmen Kirsten Baete (Beatrice, Neb.) and Brooke Newell (Anita, Iowa) used their first years at Nebraska to expand their games and hone their skills, and both could be ready to make impacts this season. “Kirsten is coming off a redshirt season where she made big strides in her game,” Krapfl said. “It will be exciting to see what she can accomplish. She has the length to really put herself in great scoring situations. The next step is staying committed and confident under par. She can really help us this year when she starts seeing herself as the great talent we think she is.” While Baete’s strength is off the tee, Newell’s greatest assets are in her short game. “Brooke has a wonderful short game with an excellent touch around the greens that is among the best on our team,” Krapfl said. “Her long game continues to improve, and she could be right in the mix for a spot in the starting lineup.” The Husker hopes will be bolstered by three true freshmen who are looking to make contributions in 2018-19. Vanessa Bouvet brings an extensive international background to the Big Red. Bouvet, who currently lists her home as Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei, has lived and competed internationally in Syria, Venezuela, New Zealand and in the United States, making her home as a youngster in Houston, Texas. She has also competed in Australia, Malaysia, Singapore, Belgium, and in the World Amateur Golf Rankings her home country is listed as France. “Vanessa is a power player with the length to be comfortable on any golf course,” Krapfl said. “We also expect her to be an outstanding student and teammate who will have a chance to come in and compete for a spot in our lineup as a freshman. Her experience in growing up and playing golf around the world will be an added benefit to our entire team.” NCAA rules have prevented Bouvet from actively competing for the past nine months, so she is hungry to get back on the course and compete. While Bouvet brings an international flavor to the roster, fellow freshman Megan Whittaker carries undeniable Cornhusker connections. Whittaker is one of the most accomplished Nebraska high school golfers in recent memory. A two-time Class A state champion at Elkhorn South, Whittaker won 35 individual championships during her high school career. She also helped Elkhorn South to four consecutive Class A state team titles. In addition to her impressive high school credentials, Whittaker kept winning in state and national competitions.

She was the 2016 Nebraska Girls State Match Play champion and claimed the individual title at the 2016 NJGT Tour Championship. She was also a national finalist in the 2016 National Drive, Chip and Putt competition. Whittaker’s ties to Nebraska women’s golf are very strong, as her mother Kim (Lefler) lettered as a golfer for Krapfl from 1991 to 1994, helping the Huskers advance to the 1994 NCAA West Regional as a senior. “Megan has the ability to shoot low numbers and she knows how to win,” Krapfl said. “She is a quality teammate and a strong student. She is also a very cerebral player, a great ball striker and has a solid overall game. Megan has the talent to be in our lineup as a freshman and the potential for a great career at Nebraska. I am excited to see her compete with and learn from our upperclassmen.” Nicole Hansen rounds out the Husker freshman class. The walk-on from Illinois earned a high-level academic scholarship to Nebraska and brings an impressive list of credentials as an all-around athlete. A three-time Illinois Division 2A High School Championship qualifier at Lake Park High School, Hansen began to focus her attention to golf late in her high school career after also competing in pole vault and hurdles as a freshman and sophomore. Hansen, who carried a 5.0 GPA in high school, earned a Ruth Leverton academic scholarship to attend Nebraska. “We are excited about Nicole’s potential. She is a great athlete with the strength to generate a lot of clubhead speed,” Krapfl said. “She has been working with some outstanding golf professionals to prepare herself for college golf. It will be fun to see how quickly she can develop now that her athletic focus is just on golf.” While the Huskers could put five newcomers on the course, Nebraska also has a newcomer in Associate Head Coach Kolton Lapa in 2018-19. The first full-time assistant coach in Nebraska women’s golf history, Lapa began his collegiate career as a member of the Husker men’s golf team. The young, energetic Lapa got his collegiate coaching career off to an outstanding start in two seasons at Denver, where he helped the Pioneers to a pair of NCAA Regional appearances and the 2017 Summit League Championship. In his two years at Denver, he helped Pioneers capture seven individual Summit League Conference honors. “I’m extremely excited to add Kolton Lapa as our first fulltime assistant coach for the women’s golf program,” Krapfl said. “Kolton is an outstanding recruiter, great at building relationships, and is a very good on-course coach. Kolton’s positive and enthusiastic attitude and his skill set will be key components of moving our team forward and getting Nebraska back where it belongs. I believe he is on the fast track to being one of the great coaches in our profession, and I look forward to him coaching at Nebraska.” The Huskers face another strong schedule in 2018-19, beginning with the Ptarmigan Ram Fall Classic in Fort Collins, Colo., Sept. 17-19. Nebraska continues play in Colorado the following week at the Golfweek Conference Challenge in Vail, Colo., Sept. 24-26, before wrapping up a three-tournament Colorado road trip at the Ron Moore Invitational in Highlands Ranch, Colo., Oct. 5-7. The Huskers head to the UNLV Collegiate Showdown in Boulder City, Nev., Oct. 21-23, before concluding the fall campaign with a visit to the Rainbow Wahine Invitational in Kapolei, Hawaii, Oct. 29-31. The Big Red open the spring portion of their campaign at the Lady Puerto Rico Classic in Rio Grande, P.R., Feb. 10-12, before heading to the Westbrook Spring Invitational in Peoria, Ariz., Feb. 24-25. The Huskers return to Arizona for the Clover Cup in Mesa, Ariz., March 15-17, before closing the regular season at the Lady Buckeye Spring Invitational in Columbus, Ohio, April 13-14. Nebraska returns to Maineville, Ohio, to compete at the Big Ten Championships, April 19-21, 2019. The Huskers will compete for the conference crown on the Arnold Palmerdesigned Tournament Players Club River’s Bend Course, which will serve as the host to the conference tournament for the third straight season. NCAA Regional competitions will be held in Auburn, Ala., Cle Elum, Wash., East Lansing, Mich., and Norman, Okla., May 6-8, before the NCAA Championships are held at The Blessings Golf Club in Fayetteville, Ark., May 17-22.

Junior (Two Letters) Detroit Lakes, Minnesota (Detroit Lakes) OUTLOOK (2018-19)

The top player for the Huskers in her first two seasons at Nebraska, Kate Smith is focused on earning an NCAA Regional bid while helping the Huskers to new heights as a team. Smith, a junior from Detroit Lakes, Minn., has set Nebraska’s single-season stroke average record each of the past two seasons and continues to show she is capable of producing even better scores. “It is only a matter of time before Kate wins a college tournament. HALEY THIELE Junior (Two Letters)

Wahoo, Nebraska (Bishop Neumann)

OUTLOOK (2018-19)

Haley Thiele (pronounced TEEL) is hoping for a strong and healthy fourth season with the Huskers in 2018-19. The junior from Wahoo, Neb., produced one of the best freshman seasons in school history in 2015-16, before suffering a wrist injury that forced her to redshirt in 2016-17. Thiele returned from the injury in 2017-18, but it continued to affect her play. During the offseason, Thiele has made adjustments to her swing and is hoping to see better results in 2018-19. “I am so proud of Haley. She made a very hard decision to try another swing coach, and then put the work in it takes to make changes,” Nebraska Coach Robin Krapfl said. “If there was a picture for hard work it would be Haley. She deserves every success she has because she has put in the time to be great.”

She earned a spot on the Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll in the fall of 2017. She was also a member of the 2018 Tom Osborne Citizenship Team. She chose Nebraska over Sacramento State, San Jose State, Dominican and UNC Greensboro because of the overall support provided to Husker student-athletes. “I chose Nebraska because of high academic standards, the support student-athletes receive to succeed in both athletics and academics, and the commitment, care and belief Coach Krapfl showed in me.”

Ahmed made immediate contributions to the Nebraska lineup in 2017-18. The true freshman from Folsom was one of the top golfers in Northern California while competing for Vista del Lago High School, and she closed her first collegiate campaign with Nebraska’s No. 4 individual stroke average (76.45) on the season. Ahmed was also Nebraska’s No. 2 individual finisher at the 2018 Big Ten Championships, tying for 40th at 225 (72-77-76) at TPC River’s Bend in Maineville, Ohio, April 20-22. Her solid high school and amateur experience in California, along with her intelligence and work ethic allowed her to elevate her game quickly at the collegiate level. Although she did not earn a lineup spot for the Huskers at the season-opening UNO Invitational at ArborLinks in Nebraska City, Sept. 1-2, Ahmed posted Nebraska’s No. 5 finish by tying for 17th with a 231 (76-79-76) while playing as an individual outside Nebraska’s lineup. She earned the first lineup appearance of her career at the East & West Match Play Challenge in Madison, Wis., Sept. 17-19. In 36 holes of stroke play competition on Sept. 17, Ahmed tied for 36th (76-78-154) in a loaded field, as her scores in both rounds counted toward Nebraska’s team total. Ahmed played as an individual outside the lineup at Nebraska’s Chip-N Club Invitational, Oct. 1-3. She managed a tie for 35th

(82-79-82-242) in challenging scoring conditions over three days at Wilderness Ridge Golf Course in Lincoln. She competed in her fourth tournament, again as an individual outside the NU lineup, at the Pinehurst Challenge in North Carolina, Oct. 9-10. Ahmed produced a breakthrough effort in North Carolina, firing three consecutive rounds of even-par-72 to finish with a career-best 216 and tie for 22nd in a 19-team field. Ahmed’s performance at Pinehurst helped her secure the second lineup spot of her young career in Nebraska’s fall finale at the UNLV Collegiate Showdown, Oct. 22-24. She played solid golf again in Las Vegas, closing with a three-round score of 227 (76-73-78) to tie for 63rd in a 96-player field. All three of Ahmed’s rounds counted toward Nebraska’s team score at UNLV. She opened the spring as Nebraska’s No. 3 finisher at the Lady Puerto Rico Classic (Feb. 11-13). Ahmed managed a three-round total of 240 to tie for 55th. She performed well with a 222 (79-73-70), including a career-best final-round 70 at the Westbrook Spring Invitational, Feb. 25-26. HANNAH THIELE Sophomore (One Letter)

Wahoo, Nebraska (Bishop Neumann)

OUTLOOK (2018-19)

A regular contributor to Nebraska’s lineup as a true freshman, Hannah Thiele (pronounced TEEL) battled back pain throughout the 2017-18 season to compete in 22 rounds. The sophomore from Wahoo, Neb., suffered a setback during the summer and her status is uncertain entering the season. “Hannah is kind of a wildcard,” Nebraska Coach Robin Krapfl said. “So much depends on how her back holds up, and whether she can regain the confidence and distance she had before the injury. She was making great progress in both areas before a setback this summer. We are not going to rush things, but we also know what she is capable of doing when she is on top of her game.”

The daughter of Kevin and Lisa Thiele, Hannah has four sisters Haley, Lindsey, Lauren and Brooke. She has not declared a major, but did earn WGCA Scholastic All-America honors in 2018. She also claimed spots on the Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll in the fall and spring semesters of 2017-18. She was a member of the 2018 Tom Osborne Citizenship Team and earned Nebraska’s 2018 Big Ten Sportsmanship Award.

One of the top young amateur golfers in Nebraska history, Thiele battled through a back injury throughout her freshman season at Nebraska in 2017-18. A two-time state girls player of the year and the youngest Nebraska Golf Association Women’s Amateur Champion in state history, Thiele competed in 22 rounds throughout the season and represented the Huskers at the Big Ten Championships. Thiele battled a back injury over the summer of 2017 and did not compete in any amateur tournaments. Her injury slowly improved throughout the summer and she competed in the first collegiate tournament of her career at the East & West Match Play Challenge in Madison, Wis., Sept. 17-19. Playing as an individual outside the Husker lineup in two rounds of stroke play in Wisconsin, Thiele produced a 36-hole score of 160 (76-84). She earned her first career lineup spot at Nebraska’s Chip-N Club Invitational, Oct. 1-3. Thiele settled for a three-round score of 243 (78-79-86) in challenging scoring conditions at Wilderness Ridge Golf Course over the tournament’s three days. Her second-round score contributed to Nebraska’s team total on the tournament’s second day, while her first-round score matched her sister’s for NU’s No. 4 score of the round. Thiele added another lineup appearance at the Pinehurst Challenge in North Carolina, Oct. 9-10, where she tied for 72nd in a 19-team field. She managed a career-best 229 (7873-78) including a career-best 73 in the second round. Her performance at Pinehurst helped her earn a third lineup spot at the UNLV Collegiate Showdown (Oct. 22-24) to close the fall season. At UNLV she opened with a solid 75, but struggled to an 82 in the second round and withdrew from the final round of

competition. She closed the fall with a 78.90 stroke average over 10 rounds, with eight of those coming in the Husker lineup. She opened the spring with a 251 over three rounds to finish 64th at the Lady Puerto Rico Classic (Feb. 11-13). Thiele managed a 244 (83-75-86) to finish 72nd while playing as an individual outside the Husker lineup at the Clover Cup in Mesa, Ariz., March 16-18. Thiele played as an individual outside the Husker lineup in the final regular-season tournament of the season at the Mountain View Invitational in Tucson, Ariz., March 23-25. She put together her best performance of the season by tying for 37th with a career-best 228 (74-76-78). She made her fifth and final lineup appearance of the season for Nebraska at the 2018 Big Ten Championships at TPC River’s Bend in Maineville, Ohio, April 20-22. She finished 83rd with a 254 (83-88-83) over three rounds to finish the season with an 80.27 stroke average on the year.

HIGH SCHOOL/AMATEUR

One of the best players the state of Nebraska has ever produced, Thiele swept the 2016 Nebraska women’s stroke play and match play titles. The 2015 and 2016 Nebraska Golf Association Girls Amateur of the Year, Thiele became the youngest player (18) in the history of the Nebraska Women’s Stroke Play and Match Play tournaments to sweep the titles in 2016. She defeated 19-time stroke (11) and match-play (8) state champion Susan Marchese for the 2016 match-play crown in Oakland. Thiele won the Nebraska Women’s Amateur Championship with a nine-over-par 225 over three rounds at Norfolk’s Eldorado Hills Golf Course in June of 2016. She won the state stroke play crown by nine strokes in Norfolk. In addition to her women’s state titles in 2016, Thiele finished fourth at the Optimist International Junior Championship in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla. She fired a four-over-par 292 over four rounds. She also won the Nebraska Junior PGA Championship. Thiele captured back-to-back Nebraska Girls Amateur championships in 2014 and 2015 and was the girls state runner-up in 2016. Hannah defeated her older sister, Haley, a three-time Nebraska Golf Association Girls Amateur of the Year (2013, 2014, 2015), for the 2015 title by carding a two-over-par 146 over two rounds at Four Winds Golf Course in Kimball. Hannah also defeated Haley for the Nebraska Junior PGA Championship on the Huskers’ home course at Wilderness Ridge in Lincoln in July of 2014. Hannah finished with a twounder-par total of 140 at the 2014 Nebraska Junior PGA, defeating Haley by five strokes. Hannah was also a member of Nebraska’s Four State Team alongside Haley in 2014. Hannah and Haley teamed to help the Bishop Neumann boys’ golf team to a runner-up finish at the Nebraska Class C state team championship when Hannah tied for 11th individually as a sophomore in the spring of 2015. During Hannah’s freshman season in 2014, the sisters helped Bishop Neumann to a third-place finish at the boys’ state tournament. Hannah tied for 18th individually. As a junior in 2016, Hannah finished 12th individually at the boys’ state high school tournament. She did not compete in high school boys golf during the spring of 2017 after sustaining a back injury during her senior basketball season at Wahoo Bishop Neumann High School. An outstanding all-around athlete, Hannah was one of the top shooters in the state of Nebraska for her high school basketball team. As a junior in 2016, she knocked down 63 three-pointers and led Bishop Neumann in scoring with nearly 12 points per game on her way to honorable-mention Class C-1 all-state accolades. She also helped Bishop Neumann to a state tournament berth. Her back injury greatly limited her contributions as a senior on the basketball court. An outside hitter on the volleyball team, she also led Bishop Neumann to the 2015 Nebraska state tournament by registering 236 kills as a junior in 2015 before leading them to a third-place finish at the 2016 state tournament. Thiele had a double-double in the third-place game to help Neumann finish with a 29-4 record.

A strong all-around athlete and academic performer, Nicole Hansen will look to add depth to the Huskers while making the adjustment to college golf as a freshman in 2018-19. Hansen, who carried a 5.0 GPA in high school, earned a Ruth Leverton academic scholarship to attend Nebraska. Nebraska Coach Robin Krapfl said Hansen will bring outstanding potential to the Husker program. “We are excited about Nicole’s potential. She is a great athlete with the strength to generate a lot of clubhead speed,” Krapfl said. “She has been working with some outstanding golf professionals to prepare herself for college golf. It will be fun to see how quickly she can develop now that her athletic focus is just on golf.”

2018-19 NEBRASKA WOMEN'S GOLF

BIG TEN CONFERENCE Known as one of intercollegiate sports’ most successful undertakings, the Big Ten is home to a lineage of legendary names and an ongoing tradition of developing strong leaders. Even in its infancy, the conference established itself as the preeminent collection of institutions in the nation, where the pursuit of academic excellence prevailed as the definitive goal. The history of the Big Ten traces back 122 years to the Palmer House hotel in Chicago, where on Jan. 11, 1895, then-Purdue president James H. Smart and leaders from the universities of Chicago, Illinois, Michigan, Minnesota, Northwestern and Wisconsin set out to organize and develop principles for the regulation of intercollegiate athletics. At that meeting, a blueprint for the administration of college athletics James E. Delany under the direction of appointed faculty representatives was outlined. The Commissioner presidents’ first known action “restricted eligibility for athletics to bonafide, full-time students who were not delinquent in their studies.” That important legislation, along with other legislation that would follow in the coming years, served as the primary building block for intercollegiate athletics. On Feb. 8, 1896, one faculty member from each of those seven universities met at the same Palmer House and officially established the mechanics of the conference, which was officially incorporated as the “Intercollegiate Conference Athletic Association” in 1905. Indiana and Iowa became the eighth and ninth members in 1899. In 1908, Michigan briefly withdrew its membership, and in 1912 Ohio State joined the conference, bringing its membership total back to nine. Upon Michigan’s return in 1917, the conference was first referred to as the “Big Ten” by media members, and that name was eventually incorporated in 1987. As the 1900s opened, faculty representatives established rules for intercollegiate athletics that were novel for the time. As early as 1904, the faculty approved legislation that required eligible athletes to meet entrance requirements and to have completed a full year’s work, along with having one year of residence. In 1901, the first Big Ten Championship event was staged when the outdoor track and field championships were held at the University of Chicago. The debut event marked what is now a staple of conference competition. Today, the Big Ten sponsors 28 official sports, 14 for men and 14 for women, including the addition of men’s ice hockey and men’s and women’s lacrosse the last three years. Big Ten schools compete in a total of 42 sports, furthering the conference’s commitment to broad-based programming and providing more participation opportunities than any conference in the country. One of the conference’s proudest traditions began in 1902 when Michigan took on Stanford in the Rose Bowl, the nation’s first bowl game. Big Ten teams only appeared in Pasadena twice before the conference signed an exclusive contract with the Tournament of Roses in 1946, making it the first bowl game with permanent conference affiliations. But Michigan’s appearance in 1902 cultivated a relationship that has endured for more than a century. Coupling the academic goals set forth by the conference leaders and their steadfast commitment to athletics, the conference instituted the Big Ten Medal of Honor in 1915. It is awarded annually by each conference institution to a student of the graduating class who has attained the greatest proficiency in scholarship and athletics. It is the most prestigious honor a student competing in Big Ten athletics can receive. In 1922, Major John L. Griffith became the conference’s first “Commissioner of Athletics.” Griffith was the first of five men to assume the role of commissioner in the conference’s history, followed by Kenneth L. “Tug” Wilson in 1945, Bill Reed in 1961, Wayne Duke in 1971 and current commissioner James E. Delany in 1989. After nearly 30 years with 10 members, the conference consolidated to nine schools when Chicago formally withdrew its membership in 1946. Michigan State was added to the Big Ten three years later, bringing the number of affiliated conference schools to 10 once again. In 1955, the Big Ten formulated a revenue-sharing model designed to pool all football

television rights of its members and share those proceeds equally. The conference and its members continue to utilize a revenue-sharing model, dividing media rights, bowl payouts and other profits among all conference institutions. While academics have always played an integral role in the conference, presidents of the Big Ten member institutions formalized the primacy of academics with the establishment of the Big Ten Academic Alliance (formerly the Committee on Institutional Cooperation) in 1958. The Big Ten Academic Alliance is an academic consortium of all Big Ten universities. In 2014, the schools currently constituting the Big Ten Academic Alliance produced over $10 billion in funded research, $5 billion more than any other conference. In one of Duke’s first actions as commissioner, he oversaw the adoption of the Big Ten Advisory Commission in 1972, designed to study conference programs and make suggestions that would further Big Ten objectives. The Advisory Commission enlists former students that competed in Big Ten athletics to serve as liaisons to the NCAA’s Diversity and Inclusion Department, the Big Ten Student-Athlete Advisory Commission and other organizations. In 1981, the conference presidents and chancellors endorsed a proposal that enabled universities to affiliate their women’s intercollegiate programs with the conference, and the first conference championships for women were staged that fall. The Big Ten was the first conference to voluntarily adopt male and female participation goals after launching its Gender Equity Action Plan in 1992. In December of 1989, the conference agreed in principle to invite Penn State for membership. On June 4, 1990, the Council of Presidents officially voted to integrate Penn State into the conference, giving the Big Ten 11 members. On June 11, 2010, the Big Ten Council of Presidents/Chancellors (COP/C) approved a formal membership application by Nebraska, which officially joined the Big Ten Conference on July 1, 2011. The conference expanded to 14 programs when Maryland and Rutgers officially became Big Ten members on July 1, 2014, giving the conference almost 9,500 students participating in intercollegiate athletics and more than 11,000 participation opportunities on 350 teams. On June 3, 2013, the Big Ten announced that Johns Hopkins had been accepted as the conference’s first sport affiliate member. Johns Hopkins’ addition in men’s lacrosse gave the Big Ten six institutions sponsoring the sport, allowing the debut of men’s lacrosse as an official conference sport. On June 17, 2015, the conference announced that Johns Hopkins was accepted as a sport affiliate member for women’s lacrosse beginning in 2016-17. On March 23, 2016, the conference announced that Notre Dame will join the Big Ten for men’s ice hockey beginning in 2017-18. Since opening in the fall of 2013, the Big Ten Conference Center in Rosemont, Ill., has played host to more than 300 meetings annually for member institutions, Big Ten Academic Alliancerelated committees and coaching groups. The headquarters also feature an interactive digital museum - the Big Ten Experience - which opened to the public on June 7, 2014. For more information on the Big Ten Experience, visit bigten.org. In June 2014, the Big Ten opened a second office in New York City, featuring both office and meeting space in Midtown Manhattan. Three Big Ten staff members are based in the New York City office to provide expanded coverage and service. The conference manages 28 championships and tournaments, offers legislative and compliance services, oversees the production and distribution of nearly 1,400 events annually, provides staff services to coaching and administrative personnel and services media and fans interest for information on the Big Ten Conference. More than 120 years after its inception, the Big Ten remains a national leader in intercollegiate athletics on and off the field. Big Ten programs have combined to win more than 450 team and 1,800 individual national championships, consistently taking home individual honors for athletic and academic accomplishments and fulfilling the Big Ten’s mission of academic achievement and athletic success.

Haley Thiele is a two-time WGCA Scholastic All-American for the Huskers.

2018-19 NEBRASKA WOMEN'S GOLF

SMITH, JUDD PUT UP RECORD NUMBERS IN 2018

Audrey Judd closed her career with a strong senior season that included sharing medalist honors at the 2017 Chip-N Club Invitational for the Huskers. Judd’s 73.88 stroke average as a senior was the second-best average in school history, trailing only teammate Kate Smith’s 73.66 in 2017-18. Kate Smith and Audrey Judd led an assault on the Nebraska women’s golf record book in 2017-18. Smith, a sophomore from Detroit Lakes, Minn., set the Nebraska single-season stroke average record for the second straight year, posting a 73.66 to break her previous record of 73.90 set as a freshman. Along the way, Smith also smashed Husker records with a second-round 64 on her way to 54-hole tournament record of 202 at the Westbrook Spring Invitational at the Vistas Golf Club in Peoria, Ariz., Feb. 25-26. Her 64 broke the previous school record by two strokes, while her 202 shattered the previous school tournament record by seven strokes. Smith finished the season with five top-10 individual tournament showings among her eight top-20 finishes, including a tie for 19th to lead the Huskers at the Big Ten Championships. Judd joined Smith as a record-breaker throughout the season, posting the best stroke average by a senior in school history with her 73.88 - which was second only to Smith’s 73.66 for the best overall stroke average in school history. Judd captured her second career tournament title by sharing medalist honors at Nebraska’s Chip-N Club Invitational at Wilderness Ridge, Oct. 1-3. She also tied Nebraska’s previous 54-hole tournament record with her 209 (70-68-71) at the Westbrook Spring Invitational - the same tournament Smith fired her school-record 202. Overall, Judd closed her outstanding four-year career with the fourth-best

rounds of even-par 72 while playing as an individual outside Nebraska’s lineup at the Pinehurst Challenge in North Carolina, Oct. 9-10. The Huskers also welcomed the return of sophomore Haley Thiele to the lineup. In 2016-17, Thiele took a redshirt season to recover from a wrist injury. Thiele got off to a strong start by tying for sixth at the UNO Invitational to open the season, but continued to struggle with the injury and her swing for much of the 2017-18 campaign. She managed a 78.85 stroke average over 26 rounds on the season, after producing a then-Nebraska freshman record 75.63 stroke average for the Huskers in 2015-16. The 2017-18 season was also a battle for Haley’s younger sister, Hannah, a true freshman for the Huskers. Hannah was challenged by a back injury that limited her strength and consistency during the season, but she still worked her way into five lineup appearances. Despite some tribulations on the course, the Thiele sisters thrived in the classroom and the community. Both Haley and Hannah were named WGCA Scholastic AllAmericans and both were also named to the Tom Osborne Citizenship Team. Hannah added a Big Ten Sportsmanship Award for the Huskers in 2018. The Thiele’s were joined on the WGCA Scholastic All-America squad by Annie Sritragul. The sophomore from Bangkok, Thailand, also produced Nebraska’s No. 3 individual stroke average (75.90) on the season while playing in all 29 rounds. Sophomore Jessica Haraden, who earned lineup appearances at the UNO Invitational, Lady Puerto Rico Classic and Mountain View Invitational, and senior Emily Gillman rounded Nebraska’s list of 2017-18 letterwinners. Gillman capped her Nebraska career by earning her bachelor’s degree in May of 2018. Along the way, she captured a Big Ten Distinguished Scholar award and her third consecutive Academic All-Big Ten accolade in 2018. She was one of five Huskers to earn spots on the 2018 Academic All-Big Ten team, joining Judd, Smith, Haley Thiele and Sritragul. Nebraska opened the 2017 fall campaign with a secondplace finish at the eight-team UNO Invitational (Sept. 1-2). The Huskers followed with a seventh-place showing at the East & West Match Play Challenge (Sept. 17-19), before a runner-up finish at the Chip-N Club Invitational at Wilderness Ridge (Oct. 1-3). Nebraska settled for 10th at the Pinehurst Challenge (Oct. 9-10), before closing the fall with a 12thplace finish at the 16-team UNLV Collegiate Showdown (Oct. 22-4). The Huskers opened the spring with an 11th-place finish at the Lady Puerto Rico Classic (Feb. 11-13), before producing one of the top efforts in school history with a record-setting three-round team total of 843 (283-273-287) to take third in a 15-team field at the Westbrook Spring Invitational in Peoria, Ariz. (Feb. 23-25). Nebraska played well again in Arizona at the Clover Cup in Mesa, finishing sixth in a 16-team field in Mesa (March 16-18). The Huskers closed the season with back-to-back 13thplace finishes at the Mountain View Invitational (March 23-25) and Big Ten Championships (April 20-22).

THE UNIVERSITY OF NEBRASKA

The University of Nebraska was chartered by the Nebraska Legislature in 1869 as the state’s public university and landgrant institution. Founded in Lincoln, the University of Nebraska was expanded in 1968 into a state educational system now comprising four campuses under the guidance of a Board of Regents and a central administration. Nebraska, which joined the Big Ten Conference in 2011, is a member of the Big Ten Academic Alliance, a consortium of Big Ten universities and the University of Chicago, which has generated unique opportunities for students and faculty by sharing expertise, leveraging resources and collaborating on programs.

BIG TEN ACADEMIC ALLIANCE

As a member of the Big Ten, the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (UNL) is a member of the Big Ten Academic Alliance (BTAA), formerly the Committee on Institutional Cooperation, which is the academic consortium of the universities in the Big Ten Conference. The consortium was renamed on June 29, 2016. The BTAA includes all 14 Big Ten Institutions and the University of Chicago. The Big Ten Academic Alliances and the institutions together have annual research expenditures topping $10.2 billion — more than the Ivy League and the University of California System combined — and they educate a total of nearly 600,000 students with approximately 50,000 full-time faculty members.
