BIOGR APHIES ADRIAN AGUILAR (Jon) is incredibly honored and excited to be a part of this amazing production. Ever since he first heard the soundtrack to tick, tick...BOOM! in high school he couldn’t wait until he was old enough to play this role. To be going on this journey with such a great theater and with this phenomenal creative team and cast is overwhelming. Recently Adrian was seen as “Berger” in Hair at the Paramount Theater, “Young Ben” in Follies at the Chicago Shakespeare Theater, and as “Danny Zuko” in The Original Grease at ATC. Prior to that he had various roles in Drowsy Chaperone, Pinocchio, A Chorus Line, Music Man, Guys and Dolls, and How Can You Run With a Shell On Your Back? at the Marriott Theatre. Adrian is also a personal trainer and is very passionate about health and wellness. So much love to his wife and hero, Brianna Borger. You may have previously seen him in the ensemble of Timeline Theatre’s production of Enron, as “Peter” in Court Theatre’s Porgy and Bess, as “Tom Collins” in Rent with Big Noise and Ouroborus Theatres, or in Porchlight’s own fundraiser By Popular Demand. A recent Northwestern University graduate, his college credits include Danny & The Deep Blue Sea, The Edge Of Peace, Assassins, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, 12 Angry Men, and Regina Taylor’s State(s) Of America. He recently appeared in Othello, La Ronde, and Love’s Labours Lost at Shakespeare Santa Cruz. Zach has also been a pianist at Howl At The Moon Minneapolis. Thanks to family. Kendra’s most recent roles have included “Roxie Hart” in Chicago and “Nikki” in Sweet Charity, both at the Greer Garson Theatre in Santa Fe. She spends a lot of her time writing and recording music which she plays all over Chicago with her band Felix and Lyons. Thanks to the cast and crew of tick, tick..BOOM!, and to the supporters in the audience, whom without, the wonderful world of performance would not be possible. BRIAN-ALWYN NEWLAND (Michael Understudy) a native of Guyana, South Africa, enjoys a variety of musical styles. Recent credits include: Porgy and Bess (Court Theatre), In Darfur (Timeline Theatre), Cats (Theo Ubique) Big River (Boho Theatre), Little Shop of Horrors (LaCosta Theatre), Rent (Nightblue), There and Back (CCPA), A Little Night Music (Light Opera Works), Three Sisters (CCPA). Brian-Alwyn holds a BM in voice performance from Appalachian State University and a Masters in voice from the Chicago College of Performing Arts. AUTHOR JONATHAN LARSON (Book, Music & Lyrics) was born to Allan and Nanette Larson in Mount Vernon, New York, on February 4, 1960. A talented actor and musician, he was offered a full scholarship to

Adelphi University on Long Island, where he met his idol (and later mentor) Stephen Sondheim. After graduating, he moved to the East Village neighborhood of Manhattan and, over a period of 12 years, wrote many plays and musicals, including the off-Broadway hit tick, tick...BOOM! It wasn’t until 1994, however, that he began work on what would be known as Rent. Finished in 1995, the musical was set to go into previews off-Broadway in early 1996. However, the night of the final dress rehearsal, Jonathan died of an aortic dissection as a result of later-to-be-known Marfan’s syndrome. ARTISTIC STAFF ADAM PELTY (Director/ Choreographer) is currently the Resident Choreographer for the National Touring Company of Billy Elliot. Directing and/or choreography credits include The Scarlet Pimpernel (original Broadway production), Five Course Love (Capital Rep), Syncopation (Merrimac Rep), The Wild Party and A New Brain (Ithaca), Hello Dolly and Sweet Charity (Interlochen). Recent Chicago area acting credits include 42nd Street and The Drowsy Chaperone (Jeff nomination) at the Marriott, as well as Spamalot at Drury Lane. Broadway acting credits include: The Scarlet Pimpernel (Elton) Cyrano – The Musical (Valvert), Steel Pier, Joseph (Simeon), A Christmas Carol (Fred), and Titanic (Fleet). Adam is the founder of Moveable Arts, a Broadway education company. He has served on the faculties of NYU, Ithaca College and Interlochen Center for the Arts, and can occasionally be found teaching dance classes for Hubbard Street. Adam also serves as artistic director of Summer Stars, a prestigious arts camp program in Rochester, New York. Adam is the son of legendary Chicago performer Lee Pelty. B I O G R A P H I E S ( c o n t .) DIANA LAWRENCE (Music Director/ Conductor) is a singer, songwriter, pianist and music director based in Chicago. She has performed at venues ranging from Symphony Center and the Auditorium Theatre to the Green Mill and the Double Door. Diana has become known for her ability to work in a wide variety of musical styles and with performers of all kinds. As a pianist, Diana has accompanied singers, instrumentalists and choirs, from young students to seasoned professionals. She also works regularly as an improvising pianist for theatre, dance, comedy, and performance poetry. Diana has been a professional musical director since her teens, and has worked with a wide variety of Chicago theatres including The Second City and Apple Tree Theatre. A classically-trained vocalist, Diana also gigs regularly with jazz combos and pop bands in Chicago. As a singer/songwriter, Diana has been compared to Ben Folds, Fiona Apple and Regina Spektor, and her band, Diana & the Dishes, released their debut album, Take A Picture, in August 2010. Originally from Ann Arbor, Michigan, Diana holds a Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Michigan, as well as an ongoing degree in professional music-making from the School of Hard Knocks in lovely Chicago, IL. ANN DAVIS (Set Designer) has worked In Chicago, as a designer, painter and builder at many theatres and some films shot in the area. In 2001, she was awarded best non union scenic design of the year in Colorado for the set design for the play Terra Nova. She has had the special opportunity to be able to teach at UIC and work with children and community groups in Chicago and Indiana. She has also done decorative as well as ordinary masonry and paint restoration on historic homes in Chicago and Oak Park. She holds a B.S. in road and building 6 Porchlight

construction (industrial technology) with a minor in Fine Art and an M.F.A. in theatre design. Thanks to my family and David. JOSEPH FOSCO (Sound Designer) is a Chicago-based composer and sound designer. He has been nominated for a New York Drama Desk award, and nine Jeff awards. He has received three Jeff Awards, two After Dark awards and an Orgie Theatre Award. Joseph is a company member of A Red Orchid Theatre in Chicago. He has also designed shows at The Goodman Theatre, Steppenwolf Theatre, Victory Gardens Theatre, The Museum Of Contemporary Art in Chicago, Northlight Theatre, Marriott’s Theatre in Lincolnshire, Noble Fool Theatricals/ Fox Valley Rep., Theater Wit, Porchlight Theatre and many others. Regionally he has composed music and designed sound at Barrow Street Theatre (NY), 29th Street Rep. (NY) and theatres in Seattle, Madison, and Milwaukee. GREG HOFMANN (Lighting Designer) Recent productions include Enron, Timeline Theatre Company, Passing Strange, Bailiwick Chicago, American Girls’ Revue, Most Valuable Player, Children’s Theatre of Madison, Permanent Collection: Madison Repertory Theatre, and over 20 productions for Cedar Fair Amusement Parks across the country. B I O G R A P H I E S ( c o n t .) JESUS PEREZ (Costume Designer) is an award-winning freelance costume designer. In 2005 he received the Denver Post Ovation Award for Best Costume Design of the year for his work on Disney’s Beauty and the Beast and the received the Joseph Jefferson Citation for his work on Mack and Mabel at Circle Theatre in Oak Park where he was Jeff Nominated for his costume designs of Gentlemen Prefer Blondes and Can-Can. He was the 2010 winner of the Broadwayworld.com Award for The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas. His most recent work was seen in the well-received productions of Urinetown and The Ritz also at Circle Theatre. Perez is the resident costume designer at Rocky Mountain Repertory Theatre where this season he will design Jekyll and Hyde, The Drowsy Chaperone and The Marvelous Wonderettes. He is cofounder and full time Artistic Director of Chicago Kids Company – Theatre for Children now in its 20th season. ANNA HENSON (Co-Projection Designer) is an artist working in projection design, video installation, experimental performance, and filmmaking. A recent Chicago transplant, her work has been seen in various states across the USA, England, Germany, Denmark, and Scotland, where she received her MFA in video and live performance from the Glasgow School of Art. She is pleased to be working with Porchlight for the first time. Previous Chicago credits include The MASSIVE’s Faust (Co-Projection Design), Chicago Dramatists’ Jeff Recommended Blizzard ’67 (Projection Design), and the first stage adaptation of Ralph Ellison’s Invisible Man, premiering at Court Theatre (Associate Video Editor for Projection Designer Alex Koch). Other credits include Cornell College’s Sophocles’ Electra (Artist-inResidence and Projection Design), and Copenhagen ‘human-specific’ theatre company Cantabile2’s installation-

RASEAN DAVONTE JOHNSON (Co-Projection Designer) is an experimental film and theatre artist with a deep interest in the application of video for live performance and experimentation with form and process. He is delighted to work with Porchlight again, this time as a designer. Currently you can see his work at Court Theatre with Angels in America. Previous theatre credits include, The Original Grease, and Welcome to Arroyo’s with American Theater Company, Momma’s Boyz with Teatro Vista, Faust with The MASSIVE, Powerless: Issues 1-3 with SYS, Sketchbook: Evolution with Collaboraction, Iphigenia Crash Land Falls...with Halcyon Theatre, and The Oxford Roof Climbers Rebellion, Brutal Imagination, and Wreckage with Caffeine Theatre where he is also an artistic associate. Upcoming projects include Joan’s Laughter with the side project, and The Ballad of Lula Del Ray 2.0 with Manual Cinema. ADRIAN JUAREZ (Properties Designer) is in the process of getting his BA in Theatre at Columbia College. Adrian has previously worked on props for A Bright New Bosie (LiveWire Chicago) and also worked on props for A Catered Affair (Porchlight Music Theatre) as the Properties Intern. Adrian’s other miscellaneous work/ shows include: Pippin (The Bohemian Theatre Ensemble), Titanic (Cock and Bull Theatre) and Tom Jones (The Polarity Ensemble). She is the resident dramaturg, outreach coordinator and ensemble member at American Blues Theater. Kelli is also the Regional Vice President of the Literary Managers and Dramaturgs of America— Chicago, and the proud coordinator of Chicago’s Joseph Jefferson Artistic and Technical Team. CHARLIE McGRATH (Assistant Director) is an associate member of the SDC and a graduate of AMDA and Northwestern University, where she directed All’s Well That Ends Well, I Hate Hamlet, and Taming of the Shrew. Professionally, she’s directed Minimalistic Men for Appetite, Chekhov’s Anyuta, and staged readings of Land Where My Fathers Died for Polarity and Aaron Mays’ Sticks and Stones. She has assistant directed Griffin’s No More Dead Dogs and Letters Home and Remy Bumppo’s Chesapeake. Next up she’ll be directing The Ruby Sunrise for Proud Kate Theatre Project and assistant directing The Vortex for Dead Writer’s Theater Collective and Assassins for The GoForth. Most importantly, she is thrilled to be working on tick, tick...BOOM! MICHAEL WEBER (Artistic Director) completes his first season as Porchlight’s company’s new Artistic Director. Weber has won two Jeff Awards and has been nominated for seven. He directed the past six Joseph

Jefferson Awards ceremonies and previously served as Artistic Director for the inaugural season of Drury Lane Theatre Water Tower Place (2005) and Theatre at the Center (1998-2004). He has also been a successful actor at venues including Ravinia, Chicago Shakespeare and Marriott Theatre, where he most recently appeared in For the Boys and White Christmas. Weber’s directing credits include Fifth of July and Talley’s Folly at the Oak Park Festival Theatre, The Petrified Forest at Theatre at the Center, Over the River and Through the Woods at The Mercury Theater, A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum at Pheasant Run Theatre, and Cirque du Symphony at Sears Center Arena. His productions of Assassins at Porchlight Music Theatre, Grand Hotel at Drury Lane Theatre Water Tower Place and She Loves Me at Theatre at the Center were each nominated for a Jeff Award for Best Production-Musical. Weber’s regional acting credits include Annie Get Your Gun and Gypsy (starring Patti LuPone) at Ravinia, Disney’s My Son, Pinocchio at First Stage Milwaukee, Around the World in 80 Days at Cleveland Playhouse, The Winter’s Tale and Henry V at Chicago Shakespeare Theatre, It Had To Be You (starring Cindy Williams and Eddie Mekka) at Little Theatre on the Square, Angel Street at First Folio Shakespeare, and The Gifts of the Magi at Indiana Repertory. MIKE SCHUPPE (Managing Director) is the newest member of the team, joining the Porchlight staff in March. He has been an arts administrator and consultant for the past 20 years. Most recently Mike was the Managing Director of the award-winning Imagination Theater in Chicago and the business manager for Apple Tree Theatre in Highland Park. He has consulted with more than 70 arts organizations including Chicago Human Rhythm Project, Comedy Sportz, Mordine & Company Dance Theatre, Chicago Slam Works, and Theatre Hikes in the Chicago area. Mike also worked for 15 years in the corporate business world. He holds a Masters of Fine Arts in Directing from the Goodman School of Drama / DePaul University.
