Gail Rastorfer (Natasha Navratilova) is pleased to return to First Folio Theatre. She was last seen on the First Folio stage in boy’s clothing as Viola in Twelfth Night in 2002. René Ruelas (Alex Gal) couldn’t be happier to be appearing in his 12th First Folio production. Among that dirty dozen, favorite roles include Tom Snout/Wall in A Midsummer Night’s Dream (1998), Conrade in Much Ado About Nothing (2000), the Porter in Macbeth (2001), the Gravedigger in Hamlet (2004), and Clarence in Richard III (2007). His versatile nature has allowed him to work INDOORS as well, most notably as Ernest Friedman in Design for Living, then as Dr. Bradman in Blithe Spirit, both by Noel Coward. When not over-staying his welcome, Rene performs with the comic improvisation troupe Count Spatula at the LOL Theatre in Schaumburg. He sends much love to his “Spatulites”.
Kat Evans (Ensemble, Understudy Natasha) is delighted to be making her debut with First Folio’s mainstage after working on Trickster for their Outreach & Education department. Favorite projects include playing Lucy Brown in The Threepenny Opera (The Hypocrites) and Princess Jasmine in Disney’s Aladdin Jr. (Emerald City). She has also worked with Metropolis in Arlington Heights, The Copley in Aurora, Jedlicka in Cicero, and Bailiwick and Greatworks in Chicago. Kat’s voiceover work is regularly featured on Our Fair City and was nominated for Best Supporting Actress in a Podcast by the Audioverse Awards 2013 for the character of Dora. Last summer she played the leadinlerole in shoia by the Audioverse awards for the character of Dora in 2013. ntraditional last summer with Salog role in an independent feature film titled Nontraditional.
Alex Weisman (Adam Adám) returns to First Folio where he previously appeared this season in The Rainmaker. Mark Hespen (Ensemble, Understudy Gal/Turai) holds his BFA in Acting from Northern Illinois University, and he is very excited to be working on his second show here at First Folio. He was previously seen in their production of Searching for Peabody’s Tomb as the Miner. Some of his other credits include Demetrius in Midsummer Nights Dream, Polonious in Hamlet, and Birdboot in The Real Inspector Hound. P R O D U C T I O N S TA F F Sir Tom Stoppard (Playwright) is a Czechborn writer. He began his career in England in 1954 as a journalist, moving to London in 1960 to start work as a playwright. He has won Tony Awards for Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead (1964) Travesties (1976), The Real Thing (1982), and The Coast of Utopia (2007). In 1998 he co-wrote the Academy Award winning screenplay for the film Shakespeare in Love. Alison C. Vesely (Artistic Director) is the Artistic Director and Co-Founder (with her husband David Rice) of First Folio Theatre where she most recently directed The Rainmaker, Underneath the Lintel, Jeeves Takes a Bow, The Merchant of Venice and Shylock and His Daughter. Other First Folio credits include the world premieres of The Madness of Edgar Allan Poe, Will Rogers: An American Original and The Castle of Otranto, as well as the Chicago premieres of Jeeves in Bloom, Jeeves Intervenes, and The Passion of Dracula. Before founding First Folio, Alison was the Classics Project Director for Footsteps Theatre, a women’s theater company specializing in all-female productions of Shakespeare’s plays. Alison worked as the Folio Director and Dramaturge on many productions at Footsteps, including Romeo and Juliet, A Midsommer Night’s Dreame, and Macbeth. She also performed in these productions, earning an After Dark Award for the title 8

role in their production of Macbeth. Other directing credits include Twelfth Night (Wayne State Univ.), Richard III (Hilberry Theatre, Detroit), Richard III (Footsteps and Shakespeare’s Herd at the Chicago Cultural Center), Real Human Dialogue, Riders to the Sea, Kiss Me Kate, and Scrooge. Alison has been an adjudicator for the Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival and the Irene Ryan Awards as well as serving a three-year term on the Theater Program Grants Panel for the Illinois Arts Council. She is a proud graduate of Illinois Wesleyan University and a member of the Society for Directors and Choreographers. Angela Weber Miller (Scenic Design) Depending upon your method of accounting, Rough Crossing is either the twenty-fifth or twenty-sixth or twentyseventh show Angie has designed at First Folio, where she is an Artistic Associate. She graduated last year from North Central College with a BA in Theatre and Small Business Management & Entrepreneurship. Last season, Lydia played Lisa in Collected Stories, as well as originating the role of Vivienne in their world premier of Jeeves Takes a Bow at Artists’ Ensemble. More recently she was seen at ShawChicago as Eliza Doolittle in Pygmalion. Kate Danziger most recently stage managed Cymbeline: A Folk Tale with Music at First Folio. Currently she is working for the Skokie Chamber of Commerce, coordinating events and communications. Kyle Gettelman is busy with his duties as technical director at North Central College, but will return to his First Folio family for Salvage!
Christian Gray – See Cast Biography Elsa Hiltner is looking forward to returning to First Folio to design costumes for Salvage. In the mean time she is designing for A Tale of Two Cities (Lifeline Theatre), Not A Cure For Cancer (Collaboraction), and is styling wardrobe for various photographers and commercials around town. Shelley Holland returns to First Folio to light Salvage this coming spring. Christopher Jensen is kept busy as the Technical Director for Maine West High School and building projects for his children Nadia and Donovan.
Michael Keefe most recently won a Jeff Awards for the music for First Folio’s proMichael F. Goldberg recently directed First duction of Cymbeline. Angela Weber Miller – See Staff Biography. Hayley L. Rice was last seen by First Folio audiences as Lizzie in last summer’s production of The Rainmaker. She will appear next season in a First Folio production… which has not officially been announced yet. Watch this space! René Ruelas – See Cast Biography Nick Sandys is the Producing Artistic Director at Remy Bumppo Theatre and recently appeared in the hit show An Inspector Calls, as well as performing his one-man adaptation of Dickens’ New Year novella, The Chimes. He is currently choreographing fights for Prince Igor at The Metropolitan Opera in New York, but will be returning to direct Our Class at Remy Bumppo and then The Merry Wives of Windsor for First Folio.
