CAST Melanie Keller (Sarah Smith) Is a proud Artistic Associate of First Folio. She has been seen as Portia in The Merchant of Venice, The Governess in The Turn of the Screw and Olivia in Twelfth Night, along with productions of Jeeves in Bloom, Design for Living, Angel Street, Private Lives and The Importance of Being Earnest. She is also a member of Signal Ensemble and won a Jeff Award for Best Actress for her work in East of Berlin and The Russian Play. She has appeared in Signal’s productions of The Weir (Jeff Nomination-Best Supporting Actress), She Stoops to Conquer, Landslide and Much Ado about Nothing. Most recently, she appeared in Tom Jones at Northlight Theatre and she spent this past summer at the Michigan Shakespeare Festival. She was a Chicago Fellow at the Stratford Festival of Canada, where she appeared in Caesar and Cleopatra, Love’s Labour’s Lost and Romeo and Juliet and was the winner of a Tyrone Guthrie award. Other credits include A Life at Northlight Theatre, Hamlet and King John (Chicago Shakespeare), Marathon ’33 (Strawdog), and productions with Peninsula Players, Shakespeare Project of Chicago, Next, Metropolis and BackStage, among others. Tyler Rich (Jason Byrnes) is thrilled to be returning for his third show at First Folio. Other First Folio credits include Polydore in Cymbeline: A Folk Tale with Music, and Mr, Birbeck in Design for Living. Other Chicago credits include Cyrano de Bergerac with Chicago Shakespeare Theatre, Sherlock Holmes and the case of the Christmas Goose with Raven, and multiple shows with Promethean Theatre Ensemble. Midsummer Night’s Dream, Julius Caesar, and Romeo and Juliet with Montana Shakespeare in the Parks/ Schools, and one season with American Players Theatre in Spring Green WI. Cassandra Schillo (Understudy Sarah) is thrilled to be joinning once again the supportive and talented First Folio family. You may have recently seen her here as Ruby in Searching for Peabody’s Tomb, sword fighting in her own company To the Point or as an actor combatant with REP’s By the Sword. Since graduating with a theatrical BFA from UWWhitewater, Cassandra has had the privilege of collaborating with theaters throughout the Midwest including BoHo Theatre, Light Opera Works, Piccolo, Milwaukee Chamber, Florentine Opera, Marriott at Lincolnshire, Remy Bummpo, Theater Wit, Drury Lane & Stage Left. Michael Dalberg (Understudy Jason) is thrilled to be working with First Folio for the first time. Regionally, Michael was last seen as Don in The Universal Language (In Tandem Theatre). Last summer, he served as an apprentice actor with Great River Shakespeare Festival, understudying for their 2013 summer production of Henry V, while also performing as Lennox in their Apprentice/ Intern project, Macbeth. Michael is a 2013 graduate from the University of Wisconsin—Parkside, where his performances included Frank in Melancholy Play, Sir Andrew Aguecheek in Twelfth Night, Father Jack in Dancing at Lughnasa, and George in Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?


P R O D U C T I O N S TA F F Josepeh Zettelmaier (Playwright) is a Michigan-based playwright and four-time nominee for the Steinberg/American Theatre Critics Association Award for best new play, first in 2006 for All Childish Things, then in 2007 for Language Lessons, in 2010 for It Came From Mars and in 2012 for Dead Man’s Shoes. Other plays include Ebenezer, And The Creek Don’t Rise, The All Childish Things Trilogy, Christmas Carol’d, Dr. Seward’s Dracula and The Stillness Between Breaths. The Stillness Between Breaths and It Came From Mars were selected to appear in the National New Play Network’s Festival of New Plays. It Came From Mars was a recipient of 2009’s Edgerton Foundation New American Play Award. Dead Man’s Shoes received the same award in 2011. In the 2013-14 season, he will see All Childish Things performed at the Aurora Theatre in Georgia, Ebenezer at Tipping Point Theatre, The Scullery Maid at the Jewish Ensemble Theatre and The Renaissance Man at the Performance Network. Joseph is an Associate Artist at Performance Network, an Artistic Ambassador to the National New Play Network and an adjunct lecturer at Eastern Michigan University, where he teaches Dramatic Composition. He was profiled in the March 2012 issue of American Theatre Magazine. all-female productions of Shakespeare’s plays. Alison worked as the Folio Director and Dramaturge on many productions at Footsteps, including Romeo and Juliet, A Midsommer Night’s Dreame, and Macbeth. She also performed in these productions, earning an After Dark Award for the title role in their production of Macbeth. Other directing credits include Twelfth Night (Wayne State Univ.), Richard III (Hilberry Theatre, Detroit), Richard III (Footsteps and Shakespeare’s Herd at the Chicago Cultural Center), Real Human Dialogue, Riders to the Sea, Kiss Me Kate, and Scrooge. Alison has been an adjudicator for the Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival and the Irene Ryan Awards as well as serving a three-year term on the Theater Program Grants Panel for the Illinois Arts Council. She is a proud graduate of Illinois Wesleyan University and a member of the Society for Directors and Choreographers. David Rice (Executive Director) is CoFounder of First Folio Theatre, where he has produced over 40 productions which have earned 27 Jeff Nominations and 5 Jeff Awards. He is also a playwright, whose works include Cymbeline: A Musical Folk Tale (Jeff Awards – Original Adaptation and Original Music); The Madness of Edgar Allan Poe: A Love Story (Jeff Nomination); and The Castle of Otranto. Onstage at First Folio he has recently been seen as Sandor Turai in Rough Crossing, as H.C. Curry in The Rainmaker, and as Knuckles McCann in Jeeves Takes a Bow. He has worked at numerous other Chicago theaters in the last 30 years, including the Paramount, Marriott’s Lincolnshire, Briar Street, and Candlelight. Trivia lovers may be interested to know that David was a four-time winner on Jeopardy! David is a proud member of both the Dramatists Guild and Actors Equity Association.

Sarah West (Asst. Stage Manager) is excited to return to First Folio, where she has also been the assistant stage manager for Rough Crossing, The Rainmaker, Unnecessary Farce, and the stage manager for Searching for Peabody’s Tomb (2011 and 2013) and the Illinois Arts Council intern for Macbeth. She graduated last year from North Central College with a BA in Theatre and Small Business Management & Entrepreneurship. There her credits include stage manager for A Story of Us, Kiss Me Kate, South Pacific, The Threepenny Opera, and Phèdre. She would like to thank her family for always being so supportive and involved in her career.

Last season, Lydia played Lisa in Collected Stories, as well as originating the role of Vivienne in their world premier of Jeeves Takes a Bow at Artists’ Ensemble. More recently she was seen at ShawChicago as Eliza Doolittle in Pygmalion. Kate Danziger most recently stage managed Cymbeline: A Folk Tale with Music at First Folio. Currently she is working for the Skokie Chamber of Commerce, coordinating events and communications.

Michael Keefe most recently won a Jeff Awards for the music for First Folio’s production of Cymbeline. When not composing for First Folio, Michael can be seen playMichael F. Kevin McKillip was most recently seen at First Folio in Rough Crossing and is currently spending time clowning for the Big Apple Circus. Michael McNamara has recently designed the lighting for Our Country’s Good at Shattered Globe Theatre and is in preparation for two productions of the opera L’Elisir D’Amour in San Diego and Washington, DC. Hayley L. Rice was last seen by First Folio audiences as Lizzie in last summer’s production of The Rainmaker. She will appear next season in a First Folio production… which has not officially been announced yet. Watch this space! René Ruelas will next be seen performing with his comic improvisation troupe Count Spatula. They’ll be a part of the Chicago Improv Festival, appearing at The Comedy Bar in Chicago on April 3rd. Tickets now on sale. Nick Sandys is the Producing Artistic Director at Remy Bumppo Theatre and recently appeared in the hit show An Inspector Calls, as well as performing his one-man adaptation of Dickens’ New Year novella, The Chimes. He is currently choreographing fights for Prince Igor at The Metropolitan Opera in New York, but will be returning to direct Our Class at Remy Bumppo and then The Merry Wives of Windsor for First Folio.
