L E T T E R F R O M T H E P R E S I D E N T A N D A R T I S T I C D I R E C TO R Dear Friends of CGMC, CGMC is spreading their music and mirth all over town! This holiday season CGMC has the potential of performing in front of nearly 5000 audience members across seven ticketed concerts, in four venues – more than ever before – and we are thrilled to have you with us tonight! Our unplugged voices will be heard in new venues like the First Congregational Church, UCC of Evanston and historic Rockefeller Chapel on the University of Chicago campus in addition to appearances on WGN television, at the Palmer House Hilton and the Kidney Foundation’s 2011 Gala. We are compelled to continue our commitment of expanding our outreach by touching the hearts, minds and ears of those who hear us, wherever it may be. That 80’s Show! Grab your leg warmers, give yourself some mall bangs and relive the decade that CGMC was founded in – the 80’s! We are pleased to announce that the spring show will be performed at two new venues: Francis Parker Auditorium and Elmhurst College. This all-80’s pop music program will be punctuated by compelling video clips and show-stopping choreography that reflects upon this transformational and complex decade of fun and tragedy, devastation and delight. It’s one you won’t want to miss! Go West, Young Man! On July 8th CGMC will open the 2012 GALA Festival in Denver, Colorado to crowds of more than 3000 attendees representing 178 other GALA choruses from across the world. Our goal is to send at minimum of 100 of our members to represent CGMC; please consider visiting our Giving Tree to find out how you can help sponsor one of our members and get them to Denver for this life-changing experience of transforming the world through song. Thank you again for being here and for making CGMC a part of your holiday season! Warm regards,
Quenten P. Schumacher II President Board of Directors

ABOUT THE CHORUS With more than 150 singing members backed by a small army of volunteers, the CGMC family covers a diverse cross-section of the Chicago metropolitan area. Under the visionary guidance and inspired direction of Artistic Director, Patrick Sinozich, CGMC delivers a distinctive brand of entertainment that keeps our audience coming back again and again. Our members log thousands of hours annually to accomplish an ambitious schedule of performances, fund-raisers and charitable appearances. We Entertain CGMC delivers a unique entertainment experience found nowhere else in the city. We produce professional-quality shows that combine the best elements of musical theater, cabaret and traditional choral performance. But only CGMC can add that special “twist of gaiety” that can make each show fun, moving and memorable. We Inspire Whether we’re representing the community while singing the national anthem at Wrigley Field or we’re providing rarely-seen GLBT-friendly entertainment in smaller cities downstate, CGMC serves as ambassadors and provides a positive image to countless thousands every year. We Motivate Sometimes the message to take action can be delivered more effectively through song than through speech. That’s why CGMC has been heard regularly in the dome of the state Capitol (supporting GLBT rights and domestic partner benefits) and at major fundraising events throughout the city (often supporting AIDS-related organizations). We Comfort CGMC is not only an integral part of the community, but we are a family. When asked to help, CGMC heeds the call. We’ve sung at at the Auditorium Theater honoring the victims of Sept. 11. We sing at smaller memorial services honoring local community leaders... and sometimes our own members. We’re humbled to realize that CGMC’s presence can bring comfort and healing to those around us. THE L ARRY E. BURKE MEMORIAL SCHOL ARSHIP FUND In addition to their many talents and their endless enthusiasm, Chicago Gay Men’s Chorus members are also required to contribute financially to the success of the organization – through annual dues and miscellaneous costs associated with weekend rehearsal retreats and traveling performances. Fortunately, CGMC members who are not able to meet these financial obligations can earn scholarships through the memorial fund left by Larry Burke, a longtime member and dear friend of the chorus who died in February 2005. Through Larry’s generosity, every CGMC member has the opportunity to enjoy all the benefits and experiences the Chicago Gay Men’s Chorus has to offer.
