M I C H A E L’ S C O R N E R Laughter is the best medicine… It’s that time again…Comedy Sportz is back at the OAC Little Theater. This season we have added two more performances by popular demand and have two different kinds of shows. January 5, February 2 and March 23 will each feature a family show at 5:00 pm and teen show at 7:30 pm. Food will be available at both shows featuring Rocky Rococo pizza and Cousins Subs. Special combo meal deals are available for both. Great for groups or clubs! Fun for the whole family! Cabaret Series… Pat McCurdy, Russian Folk and T’is round out this year’s cabaret series, all in the comfort and intimate setting of the Little Theater and featuring the Chef’s extraordinary menu. Get your tickets early, though, last year’s series sold out quickly and tickets for this year are going fast; group sales for parties available. Check out our web site at www.theoac.net for more information and menu options. The Bonsai People… Our final film series offering is The Bonsai People: the Vision of Muhammad Yunus on January 18 at 7:30 pm. This fascinating documentary focuses on the philosophies and social businesses of Nobel Peace Prize winner Muhammad Yunus and his Grameen Bank. This film is about empowerment, responsibility and social justice in some of the world’s poorest regions. Director/film maker Holly Mosher will be on hand to host a Q & A immediately following the film. The film will be presented in the Little Theater. Michael Duncan, Director Oconomowoc Arts Center Get on our email newsletter list or check out the web site at www.theoac.net for further information.

BIOGR APHY Joel has been performing professionally for over 25 years, proving that singing loudly can be a sought-after commodity. Joel is familiar to audiences having appeared in hundreds of performances of dozens of productions with the Milwaukee Symphony, First Stage, American Folklore Theatre, Door County’s Third Avenue Playhouse, Chicago Cabaret Professionals, Melody Top, Cudahy Carolers, Bunny Gumbo, Madison Opera, and Skylight Music Theatre where last December he appeared as Marcellus in The Music Man, one of two dozen shows he has performed in at Skylight over the years. He is a frequent singer of the National Anthem for Milwaukee Brewers games and sang for game 3 of the MLB NLCS playoffs in 2011. He has toured Europe and much of the United States singing everything from Gershwin to Mozart, everywhere from his mom’s Women’s Club to Paris and South Africa. In addition to live performance, he has been featured in radio and television commercials and jingles for several Fortune 500 companies across the nation. Joel recently appeared in the award-winning short film “The Bully” and has a cameo appearance in the award-winning feature film “Dead Weight”. As a songwriter, Kopischke has written and performed original tunes, with local composer Jamie Johns, in cabaret performances at the Skylight Opera Theatre. He wrote “The Gift” with award-winning composer David Friedman and “Taking The Leap” with Willy Porter. And he performed his original song “One World” at Milwaukee’s 1996 Olympic Torch Run ceremony with Senegalese drummer N’Dongo “Lucky” Diopp and WAMI-award winning bands Oasis and Leahy’s Luck. Joel has also written several original cabaret shows and revues that he has performed in and directed at places including Skylight, Broadway Baby Dinner Theatre, Davenport’s (Chicago) and Peninsula Players in Door County. He is currently writing a new musical with Alissa Rhode entitled “Dairy Heirs”. Tonight’s show features songs from Joel’s 2005 critically-acclaimed CD of original humorous holiday music entitled “I Got Yule Babe”. Joel wrote and performed the parodies and original tunes in a broad range of styles, including punk, polka, swing, country, blues, and klezmer. Selections have received airplay on a number of local radio stations, XM Radio and the Dr. Demento Show. Joel is currently planning a follow-up CD including a number of his new parodies from tonite’s set list. When not performing, Joel enjoys a busy career as a board development consultant, working with cooperative and non-profit boards through governance and leadership training and coaching. Thanks to Anne & Rose. www.JoelVoice.com 16
