F R O M T H E OAC D I R E C TO R ... The holiday season is here again and the OAC stages are brimming with an outstanding array of seasonal events that are sure to appeal to everyone. The Oconomowoc School District will present A Winter Jazz Concert, A Community Sing-along of Holiday Classics, The Annual Holiday Family Film Night Fund-raiser, OHS Orchestra Concert, and The OHS Winter Band Concert. Two outstanding community performances include “Replay,” an instrumental jazz group in the Cabaret Theater featuring specialty desserts and coffees, December 14 and The Nutcracker, in a beautifully staged production by MainStage Academy of Dance, December 20-22. The OAC special events series presented the popular Lorie Line in “Born in Bethlehem,” December 4 and the OAC main stage series features the return of humorist, John McGivern in Home for the Holidays, this evening. Contact the box office at 262.560.3172 or our website at www.theoac.net for specific times and ticket prices. Many of the events are free to the public and you can save money on your ticket purchases by getting your tickets at the box office, in person, prior to the event date. Be a Part of the Process… The OAC Programming Committee is hard at work considering a variety of programs for the 2014-15 season of professional series events and we would like to hear from you, our loyal patrons, on what types of events you would most like to experience. A survey is available in your program or distributed by our ushers for you to fill out and return to the box office. Please take a moment to let us know what you think. We want to hear from you. Gift Certificates… There are many wonderful events still to come in the 2013-14 season. Consider a gift certificate from the OAC to fill out your holiday gift-giving. You can either purchase tickets for a specific show or for any dollar amount and let your special someone redeem it for the event of their choice. Thank you for your continued support of the Oconomowoc Arts Center and have a joyous and safe holiday season! BIOGR APHY John McGivern (born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin) is an actor and writer. He has won numerous awards, including “Best Writer of a New Work” and the “After Dark Award.” He also played the role of Bruce McIntosh in the Disney film The Princess Diaries, and many commercials for companies such as Kohls Department Store, Sears, and Philadelphia Cream Cheese. John is a graduate of St. Lawrence Seminary, in Mount Calvary, WI. In 2010, he received an “Emmy® Award” for Outstanding Achievement for Individual Excellence On Camera: Programming Performer in the Chicago/Midwest region. McGivern is well-known for his “Emmy® Award” winning work on Wisconsin PBS. His one-man live stage and TV shows, “The Early Stories of John McGivern,” “Midsummer Night McGivern,” “John McGivern’s Home for the Holidays,” and “Summer Stories with John McGivern” weave nostalgic tales of being the third born of six kids in a working-class Irish Catholic family in the Midwest. McGivern frequently shows up on local morning news and other TV programs and can be heard during his regular radio segments on WKLH 96.5 FM in Milwaukee. His newest venture, “Around the Corner with John McGivern” is a new Milwaukee Public Television series that takes McGivern to different towns and neighborhoods around Southeastern Wisconsin. From Sheboygan to Racine and Burlington to Brady Street, McGivern capitalizes on his light-hearted demeanor to convey the delights he discovers while exploring these John McGivern’s hometowns and neighborhoods. Stayed tuned for the Oconomowoc “Around the Corner” sneak preview, March 24th at 7:00 p.m. at the OAC. Details are forthcoming and will be posted on the OAC website- www.theoac.net
