M I C H A E L’ S C O R N E R The OAC will be forming a new support organization called the Friends of the OAC. The idea is to develop an all-volunteer community support auxiliary for the OAC. An information meeting is scheduled for Saturday, January 19 from 9:30-11:00 am in the OAC Little Theater. The meeting is open to the public. Drop in and have a cup of coffee. We’d love to have your input. Season Updates… A mid-term report shows OAC ticket sales to all events are up, more than double last year’s sales as of January 1 a year ago. Some events such as John McGivern and I Got Yule Babe not only sold out but were slightly over-sold. The Nutcracker presented by Main Stage Academy of Dance far exceeded attendance totals from 2011. Audiences were absolutely awed by this beautiful holiday classic. The OAC looks forward to their return next December. Other events, especially the cabaret series and Comedy Sportz are selling fast. Don’t be left out in the cold. Come join us at the OAC and thank you for your support. Two documentary films coming to the OAC… Our final OAC film series offering is The Bonsai People: the Vision of Muhammad Yunus on January 18 at 7:30 pm. This fascinating documentary focuses on the philosophies and social businesses of Nobel Peace Prize winner Muhammad Yunus and his Grameen Bank. This film is about empowerment, responsibility and social justice in some of the world’s poorest regions. Director/film maker Holly Mosher will be on hand to host a Q & A immediately following the film. The film will be presented in the Little Theater. Also, on Thursday, February 7 at 7:00 pm in the Little Theater, the Tall Pines Conservancy will sponsor a public showing of the documentary film Green Fire. The film is free and open to the public, but there’s limited seating. Information about the film and seating can be found at www.tallpinesconservancy.org. Known locally, regionally and nationally, this singer-songwriter has an unusual off-beat sense of humor and is a crowd favorite. He is well known for his comic lyrics and hilarious observations on life, love and “vacation with mom and dad.”

BIOGR APHY McCurdy is a cabaret singer/songwriter from Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He regularly tours the upper Midwestern part of the United States with regular stops in Milwaukee, Madison, Chicago, Green Bay, and Minneapolis. His shows usually consist of just him and his guitar and include improvised interaction with the audience. While the majority of his audience is made up of a college-age crowd, McCurdy appeals to a large number of people of all ages. Performing well over 300 shows a year, his large catalog of original songs (over 600 and growing) covers a variety of topics such as lost loves, politics, family vacations, and how the world can’t live without Sex & Beer. Pat writes all his own songs, in a variety of styles. Only a small portion of his songs are on albums. If he took every song he ever wrote and recorded them, he’d have enough material for at least 7 or 8 more albums. Plus, he’s writing new songs all the time. One of the reasons to attend a performance is to hear these songs that aren’t on the albums. Also, he often changes a few lyrics on songs, or does reggae or polka versions of them; you think of it, he’ll do it.
Dinner Package includes show tickets and dinner:
Menu
Gourmet 7” Personal Pizza
Varieties will include margarita, house-made sausage and cheese.
Side includes chicken wings or a salad. Dessert will be a choice of chocolate covered pretzels or chocolate cake with an oatmeal stout frosting. All items will be available the evening of the show, a la carte, for those without the dinner package ticket.
