A M E S S AG E F R O M W R I T E R & D I R E C TO R - DA L E G U T Z M A N This is not An Evening with Gilbert and Sullivan. Let’s get that out of the way. This is not an encore of that heart-warming enchanting music and comedy delight that thrilled so many several years ago. No, this is something entirely different. It’s a kind of a “Mad Mash up of my mind with the magnificent music of Gilbert and Sullivan.” That being said, it is a quite respectful and musically impressive celebration of their genius. But it’s more about what they do to us than about their lives. It’s about how they get under our skin and become an important part of our lives. It’s about how we recall certain memories with them, and about how we share the joys of love and laughter through them. It’s also unabashedly silly, as they often were. It’s got something old, something new, something borrowed and a little something blue. It’s almost like we’re married to Gilbert and Sullivan with all that implies! How good to be here, and how grand to have you with us.

A M E S S AG E F R O M A R T I S T I C D I R E C TO R - B I L L T H E I S E N No composer and librettist team is more beloved at Skylight than Gilbert and Sullivan. Over the past 54 years we have produced 55 different productions of their work, which makes bringing you a brand new G&S show all the more exciting and fulfilling. Add to the mix Dale Gutzman who has directed a great many shows in our company’s history as well as cast of true Skylight favorites- Niffer Clarke, Paul Helm, Ray Jivoff and Diane Lane- and we have the makings of a brand new Gilbert and Sullivan classic. I wish you could have been in the rehearsal hall as this brilliant group of artists brought the show to life. With Dale’s incredible wit and the casts many faceted talents it really was a joy to behold. And I think the show you are about to experience sincerely captures Skylight- the old, the new, the irreverent, and, most importantly, the future- as we shed new light on the brilliant collaboration of our two favorite gentlemen, W.S. Gilbert and Arthur Sullivan. Be sure to get your tickets now for our next Cabot theatre production featuring another Skylight legend, Leslie Fitzwater starring in Edith Piaf Onstage. The combination of this iconic French chanteuse, the incredible music that she brought to life, and the captivating, spellbinding performance of Leslie Fitzwater make this a must-see event.

A M E S S AG E F R O M T H E M A N AG I N G D I R E C TO R - A M Y S . J E N S E N Welcome to Here’s a Howdy Do – The Mischievous World of Gilbert & Sullivan! We are delighted to be ringing in the New Year with a brand new tribute to Skylight’s favorite duo. We had such a wonderful time with Dale Gutzman’s charming and inventive rewrite of An Evening with Gilbert & Sullivan back in 2010 that we knew exactly who to call when we wanted to include a little G&S fun this season. The first half of the 2012-13 season has brought the greatest box office success of any in our history – and we certainly have no plans to slow down the pace for the remainder of the year. Later this month, we bring the long awaited Edith Piaf Onstage featuring our dear friend and long-time Skylight talent, Leslie Fitzwater. In March, we cook up a little down home country fun with Pump Boys and Dinettes. During May we welcome spring with the talented team of Kay Stiefel and Jack Forbes Wilson in Sing Me a Story here in the Studio Theatre. And we have a truly remarkable end to this amazing season with The Gershwins’ Porgy and Bess. Our Artistic Director, Bill Theisen, is directing and has assembled an exceptional cast for this iconic American masterpiece. Thank you for supporting Skylight in so many ways. We wouldn’t be here without you! We look forward to seeing you throughout the remainder of our season for an engaging array of stories that sing! Best wishes for a happy and music-filled 2013. 2
