BIOGR APHIES Joel Amata (Salesman/ Dance Chorus) Joel became interested in auditioning for his first show with TOTH after meeting Lea Salonga! He has appeared on television for an interview discussing his experience on American Idol, and for performing a cultural dance at Navy Pier. Joel worked as an extra in the movies Ocean’s 11, Batman: the Dark Knight and the upcoming Contagion! He supports various charities such as Children International & Chicago Cares. Of all his accomplishments, Joel is most proud of his beautiful and supportive family, especially Angel, Amira & Jylan! He thanks Michael Fudala, Sharon Hand and KB Bowman for this great opportunity! They have been great mentors! Above all, he thanks God for all his blessings in life!

Matthew Bockus (Olin Britt) Matthew is very excited about being in this production of The Music Man. He was last seen on this stage in The Who’s Tommy as an officer, reporter and in the ensemble. Some of his credits are the Reverend David Lee in The Foreigner with the Joliet Drama Guild, Caiaphas in Jesus Christ Superstar and Pop in We Will Rock You. He would like to thank Michael for giving him the opportunity to continue to hone his theatrical skills by participating in the Barber Shop Quartet and KB for teaching him a few more dance steps and Sharon for her expertise in the vocals. Many thanks go out to his fellow cast members, especially his fellow quartet members, and a big thanks to his loving wife for all of her support and patience.

Maya Benziger (River City Kid) Maya is 11 years old and fresh out of elementary school. She enjoys reading, writing, singing and The Music Man rehearsals. She is a member of the Young Naperville Singers and has been in several choral performances. She also plays the baritone in the school band. In addition, she is a proud sponsor of all things zombie, pirate, and platypus.

KB Bowman (Choreographer) This is KB’s 6th production at TOTH and she has over 28 years of experience in the entertainment industry, appearing in and choreographing musicals, Worship arts, pageants, body-building competitions, show choirs, dinner theater, and the National auto show tour. She is member of Dance Masters of America, the Screen Actors Guild and the American Federation of Radio and Television Artists. KB has also appeared in numerous national & regional commercials, voiceover and printwork, including a recent Chevrolet Superbowl spot where she was a principle dancer. She is a Certified Exercise/Zumba instructor and Personal Trainer. She is currently on the Board for DESA, (Dance/Exercise Safety Assoc.) and won first place in the Sundance Fitness Challenge in Atlanta, second place in the Reebok National Aerobic Competitions and a finalist in the FIT-TV National Talent Search. KB currently resides in Aurora, is the proud mom of 2 college age boys, and has a wonderful bestfriend and fishing partner husband of 30 years. Special thanks to Michael and Sharon for the loving touch we share as artists in residence, my loving dancer mom and a special tribute to my dad who went home to be with the Lord; The Music Man was one his favorite musicals!!

Nicole Benziger (Pick-a-Little Lady/Dance Chorus) Nicole was born in Los Angeles, CA and grew up in Cajun Country in southern Louisiana. She received her degree in Art from Pomona College in California. Her passions include: her husband, Keith, her 3 children, Maya, Zachary and Danika, graphic design, making books by hand, Zumba and getting her hands dirty in the garden. This is her first performance in a theater production. Clarence J. Blake (River City Kid) I’m a thirteen year old 7th grade Honor student at Hubert Humphrey Middle School in Bolingbrook, IL. I run track and I play the French horn. In my spare time I enjoy playing video games, playing soccer with my friends and being on the computer or just having fun with my family. When I grow up I want to attend MIT and major in computer programming. I’ve always had a love for computers. I love to laugh, I’m very energetic and fun-loving. Life is good.

6 Theatre-on-the-Hill

Bonnie Bovaird (Mrs. Squires/Dance Chorus) Although Bonnie spends countless hours on and around the stage supporting her children’s acting endeavors, this is the first time that she has been able to sing and dance in a play since high school. She is having a great time, learning a great deal, and is thrilled to be a part of this production.

B I O G R A P H I E S ( c o n t .) Campbell Bovaird (River City Kid) Campbell will be an eighth grader at Humphrey Middle School in Bolingbrook. This year at Humphrey, he has appeared as Marcellus Washburn in The Music Man, Jr., and Clayhorn the Butler in And Then There Was One. While at Humphrey, he has also appeared in Charleston: The Musical, and Murder at the Banquet. Outside of school, Campbell has appeared in TOTH’s productions of The Wizard of Oz and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, and in the Hinsdale Community House Players’ production of Oliver! Joseph Bovaird (Winthrop) Joseph will be in fifth grade this fall at Jonas Salk Elementary School in Bolingbrook. This year, Joseph appeared as Winthrop in Humphrey Middle School ’s production of The Music Man, Jr. Joseph also appeared in TOTH’s production of The Wizard of Oz. Joe takes piano lessons and is thrilled that the weather has finally warmed up so that he can ride his bicycle. Scott Bovaird (Harold Hill) This is Scott’s first time on the stage with TOTH, though he has logged several hours in the concession stand while his kids were performing. Scott is delighted to be taking part in this musical with the whole family. In his distant past, Scott played Harold Hill in The Music Man, and Albert Peterson in Bye Bye Birdie. Spencer Bovaird (River City Kid) Spencer will be an eighth grader at Humphrey Middle School in Bolingbrook. This year at Humphrey, he has appeared as Harold Hill in The Music Man, Jr., and Matthew Charisma (the handsome man) in And Then There Was One. While at Humphrey, he has also appeared in Charleston: The Musical, and Murder at the Banquet. Outside of school, Spencer has appeared in TOTH’s productions of The Wizard of Oz, and Charlie and The Chocolate Factory, and in the Hinsdale Community House Players’ production of Oliver!

Linda Brown (Pick A Little Lady) This is Linda’s eighth show with TOTH. She loves working with her fellow TOTH veterans, with Michael, Sharon and KB and meeting new friends with each production. But she honestly feels like this one was the most fun to rehearse and stage of any show so far. Outside the theatre, Linda is busy with 8 children and 19 grandchildren. Our families are the source of true joy! Michael Brown (Ewart Dunlop) Michael, ever one to live on the edge and avoid the conventional – and ever a fount of wild, new, bold ideas, went door to door (as a youngster) selling painted rocks and later scraps of colored aluminum foil. These dismal failures inspired him to become the entrepreneur’s entrepreneur that he is today. After a long string of cottage businesses including hubcap mural-painting, rodent whispering, mailbox upholstering, and reselling Skittles under various names at www.Placebo. com, he finally decided he wanted to be a success. “A starving young actor? I could do that!” Well, the young he may have timed wrongly, and actor is so subjective. But starving! Now he comes to you a meteoric success at last! All seriousness aside, this is Michael’s 15th performance here, and he learns new things and makes new friends in each production. To be part of the Quartet in The Music Man is something he’s wanted to do for a long time. Cassie Buckley (Epworth League/Dance Chorus) Cassie is a recent graduate from Jane Addams Middle School. She enjoys anything that involves musical theatre. The Music Man is Cassie’s first show at TOTH. Cassie has been Jasmine in Aladdin and His Wonderful, Magical Lamp, and Edwina in Dear Edwina Jr. She is very excited to be in the dance chorus to perform for all of you. Emily Coronado (Epworth League/Dance Chorus) Emily is thrilled to be in her first ever musical. Before making her entrance on the TOTH stage, she was a part of her former school’s Shakespearean productions of The Merchant of Venice and Hamlet. Emily is a self proclaimed “band geek,” aspiring author, and a semi-perfectionist. She enjoys reading, writing, listening to music, and quoting her favorite books and movies such as The Lord of the Rings (yes, she has read the whole trilogy), Harry Potter, Pride and Prejudice and the Princess Bride. Now because Emily is now Theatre-on-the-Hill 7

B I O G R A P H I E S ( c o n t .) suffering a bout of writers block (ugh! I hate when that happens!), she is only left with one more thing to say. Sit back, Relax, and Enjoy the show! Zachary Coronado (Tommy’s Gang/ Dance Chorus) Zach is thirteen years old, soon to be an eighth grader and attends school at Kingswood Academy in Darien. Past plays are Malice in the Palace: The Story of Esther, Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, and school version of Macbeth. Hobbies are theatre, tae kwon do, and baseball. Bryan Croce (Boy/River City Kid) I am 10 1/2 years old and will be going into the 5th grade in the fall at Hermansen Elementary in Romeoville. I play basketball during the fall/winter and then love to be on stage for the summer. This will be my second play at TOTH. In 2009 I played a munchkin and lollipop guild in the production of The Wizard of Oz. I am so excited to be part of this theatre family. I have met so many really great people through TOTH and have learned so much. Thank you to my TOTH family and to my mom and dad for supporting me and allowing me to find myself on stage. Jim Dougherty (Charlie Cowell/Townsperson) Jim is excited to return to performing after being away from it for over 20 years to help raise his kids Nikki & Ryan with his wife Alda. Jim is an 18 year Bolingbrook resident who has coached and officiated local baseball and basketball for many of those years. He would like to thank all past and present friends, teachers and family for all their support. Bill Everitt (Train Conductor/Townsperson) I’ve been in community theatre for 19 years now. I was in Tommy last summer. I’ve also done Cactus Flower, The Music Man, Godspell, The Sound of Music, My Fair Lady, Fiddler on the Roof, Oklahoma!, Annie, Oliver!, Beauty and the Beast, We Will Rock You, The Wizard of Oz, Bleacher Bums and Our Town. I want to thank my family and friends for their support and especially Barb. Barb, I love you. I want the cast to break a leg and have a great show! Thank you!

Shane has performed the National Anthem for the T-Ball Championship playoffs. He has won first place prizes and scholarships from Parents magazine, Flintstones vitamins, and Wat-Aah drink company, and he has appeared in Wondertime magazine. He was one of the finalists in last year’s “Tomorrow’s Top Talent” competition. An honors student in Bolingbrook, Shane loves to solve the rubiks cube, play the harmonica and the piano. He and his “thithter” Brynn would like to thank Michael and Sharon for giving them this incredible opportunity! Michael A. Fudala (Producer/Director) The Music Man marks Michael’s 45th theatrical production since 1992. Over the years he has been involved as music director, performer, technician, producer and director, most recently for the 2010 production “The Who’s TOMMY” at Theatre-on-the-Hill. As owner of Mere Image Productions, Michael provides professional graphic, photographic and A/V services to the art, educational and corporate communities as well as musical orchestrations, sound, set and light design for theatres throughout the Chicago land area. He is incredibly grateful for once again having the opportunity to work with such talented cast and staff. “Hey, Marcellus...give it to ‘em sideways!” (LCBC333)

He becomes obsessed with collecting things and has a huge collection of Pokémon cards and Beyblades. Erika Enigk Grotto (Assistant Director/Ethel Toffelmeier) Erika is excited to be back on the TOTH stage as Ethel Toffelmeier and to make her backstage debut as assistant director. In her native state of Pennsylvania, Erika performed in Camelot (Guenevere), Cat on a Hot Tin Roof (Maggie), Tartuffe (Elmire), SubUrbia (Erica), and other plays as well as the Pennsylvania Renaissance Faire. Since moving to Illinois in 2002, she has performed in a handful of productions, including Fairways at Steel Beam Theatre and Perfect Wedding with Palos Village Players. She made her TOTH debut last summer as Mrs. Walker in The Who’s Tommy and was featured in the one-act comedies presented this winter. Backstage, she’s done various technical duties, including masterful sound board button pushing for two TOTH productions. In the real world, Erika lives with her husband, Matt, and Boston Terrier, Stella, and makes her living correcting people’s grammar. Erika thanks Michael for being brave enough to put her on the production staff, KB and Sharon for welcoming her into the fold, and the cast and crew for its enthusiasm. Mariangela Guglielmo (Pick-a-Little Lady/ Dance Chorus) Mariangela is excited to be in her first summer show at TOTH. She was last seen in Oliver! with the Downers Grove Players. Mariangela wants to thank Michael for this opportunity and her parents and friends for their love and support.

10 Theatre-on-the-Hill

Andrew Guida (Tommy’s Gang) Andrew (12) is an honor student going into 7th grade at Jane Addams Middle School. He is in Boy Scout Troop 131, plays clarinet in JAMS band, plays acoustic and electric guitar, runs on the track and cross country teams, is learning how to break dance from You Tube videos, and takes karate classes. The Music Man is Andrew’s first opportunity to perform in a musical, and his role as River City Kid/Gang Member showcases his outgoing personality. Dominick Guida (Salesman/ Constable Locke) Hello my name is Dom. I am playing Salesman #3 in the opening number and then Constable Loch. This is my first time doing a play, and it is has been great fun. I am absorbing everything like a sponge. I can’t wait to experience a live performance in front of the audience. My biggest fear is forgetting a line or a cue. I

B I O G R A P H I E S ( c o n t .) don’t know how the lead performers do it! I hope you enjoy the show. Julie Guida (Mrs. Locke) Last summer, Julie performed as an ensemble member and as Mrs. Simpson in the TOTH production of The Who’s Tommy. In the fall, she was Teresa Salieri in Amadeus. The Music Man was a family favorite when she was growing up. Julie is thrilled to be in a live performance of this musical as a Pickled Lily and townsperson, and looks forward to marching in “The Big Parade.” She is especially pleased to have her husband and her youngest son join her on the stage this summer. Julie has three boys, and works as a Regional Account Manager. Caleb Hand (Newspaper Reader/Albert/ Dance Chorus) Caleb has been performing on stage since 2005. His most recent credits include Annie (Drake), Noises Off (Tim), and The Who’s Tommy (Young Cousin Kevin). In May 2011, Caleb was inducted into Thespian Society Troupe 3413 and received the Most Promising Actor Award. This fall, Caleb is looking forward to auditioning for Father of the Bride, the fall play at BHS, where he is also a member of Concert Band, Raider Marching Band, Sunrise Singers, Madrigal Singers and Vocal Jazz Ensemble. Caleb’s favorite thing about doing music and theater is that he is able to make friends and be a part of an ever-growing extended family. Grace Hand (Gracie Shinn) Gracie’s been working (and rolling down the hill) at TOTH for over six years. Her first play was Charlie and the Chocolate Factory with the Bolingbrook Arts Council. With TOTH, she’s been in Oklahoma!, The Wizard of Oz, and The Who’s Tommy. Now she is 11, a student at Bluestone Academy of Dance and Music, and a recent recipient of the Outstanding Music Student Award at Wood View Elementary School in Bolingbrook. Gracie is very excited about starting sixth grade at Brooks Middle School where she will join the drama club and play clarinet in the BMS band. Sharon Hand (Vocal Director) This is Sharon’s sixth summer vocal directing with TOTH, and she is honored once again to be working alongside the talents of KB and Michael. Sharon is very proud of the singers for having put so much hard work into this show. Everyone on stage has risen to

meet the challenge of maintaining the harmony, melody and precision that The Music Man demands. Sharon loves Mom, Dad, Patty, Jim, Caleb, Gracie, Eileen, Robin, Alex, Kathy, Chris, Kelsey, Troy, Tess, Kate, Mary and Michael who have each played an integral part in making The Music Man a success, and her heart full! Audrey Hansa (Epworth League) This is Audrey’s first production at TOTH. She has been involved with theatre at her school by doing the lighting for the fall play and spring musical. Jess Henry (Pick-a-Little Lady/Dance Chorus) This is Jess’ fourth show with TOTH, but only the third she’s made it to opening night. After appearing in Oklahoma! and The Wizard of Oz, she tore her ACL during the run of The Who’s Tommy, and could not complete the production. After a successful surgery she has returned and is ready to get back on stage. She is very grateful to her family here at TOTH who supported her during her recovery, especially Deana, Bobby, Kathleen, Rebecca and Gail. She would also like to thank Michael and Sharon for casting her, and KB for having faith that she could dance again. Lastly she would like to thank her family and Dan Westlund for always having faith in her abilities, she could have never done it without them. Since it is the 99th Birthday of The Music Man, she is very glad she could be a part of this production. Enjoy the show! Lauren Jagiel (River City Kid) This is Lauren’s fourth performance with TOTH. She has also been in two school plays at Brooks Middle School. Lauren loves to sing and dance, especially performing with all her friends and neighbors. What a great way to spend the summer! Dan Jagodzinski (Salesman/Townsperson) This is Dan’s debut with TOTH. He has been in such shows as Guys and Dolls, Moon Over Buffalo, Footlight Frenzy, and many, many more. The big irony of his acting career was always wanting to do The Odd Couple, and when he did, it was the female version. He would like to thank TOTH for the chance to perform with them. -

and Hello Kitty socks. Hope you enjoy the show, I’ll be the one smiling super huge.:D Chelsie Kolarik (Epworth League) At 14 years old, this is Chelsie’s first time in a TOTH performance. The Music Man is my very first show with TOTH and my counterpart, Lilac Edelweiss, and I are delighted to be here. Thanks to my family for putting up with slapdash dinners or no dinners at all so I can sing and “dance my socks off”. I am delighted to be sharing this experience with my

B I O G R A P H I E S ( c o n t .) granddaughter, Chelsie, who is also a part of The Music Man magic. Welcome all to our parade! Ashley Lapidus (River City Kid) Ashley makes her TOTH debut as a River City Kid in The Music Man! Ashley is always supporting her siblings in their theatrical endeavors, and is very excited to be able to be in a production with them. Ashley has made some wonderful friends during rehearsals and is thankful she could participate in such a wonderful show. Ashley, who is only entering 4th grade this fall, is looking forward to many TOTH productions in the future. Hannah Lapidus (River City Kid) Hannah is very glad to be working with such wonderful people at TOTH. You may remember seeing Hannah previously on this stage as Violet Beauregard in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. During the school year you can find Hannah on the Brooks Middle School stage or in the band room practicing clarinet and saxophone. Hannah is excited to be back and hopes she can continue to participate in the fantastic TOTH productions. Rachel Lapidus (Pick-a-Little Lady/ Dance Chorus) Rachel loves to do theater, choir, and math and is thrilled to be part of this wonderful summer production, The Music Man, such a fun show! Though this is her first performance at TOTH, Rachel is no stranger to theater. When she was younger she spent her time on the Brooks Middle School stage. Now that she is in high school, she spends her time in either the BHS auditorium, the choir room or helping someone with math. Rachel aspires to become a math teacher (with a minor in theater of course!). Rachel would like to thank Michael, KB, and Erika for putting up with her crazy schedule and the entire cast for the wonderful energy they bring every day. Dave Lichty (Jacey Squires) The Music Man is Dave’s seventh show with TOTH, and he deeply appreciates the fact that, in spite of everything, they keep taking him back. Dave’s recent work includes 1776 (Hopkins), The Parrot and the Prince(Parrot), Amadeus (Von Strack), The Elephant Man (Carr Gomm), Working (Rex/Mason/Joe), Rent (Paul), The Last Days of Judas Iscariot (Caiaphias), and City of Angels (Buddy/Irwin). Dave reserves his greatest appreciation for wife Robin and daughter Katy for allowing 14 Theatre-on-the-Hill

him, yet again, to run off and play with the big kids. Nick Lucero (Tommy’s Gang/Dance Chorus) Nick is not only thrilled to be back performing with old friends but making new ones in his eighth production with TOTH. Second only to Lady Gaga, dance is Nick’s passion and he is excited about being selected to be a member of the 2011-2012 Senior Company of Bolingbrook’s nationally acclaimed performing dance company - Danceforce. Nick is 14 years old and will be in the 9th grade at Bolingbrook High School in the Fall. Nick would like to thank his Mom, Dad, family, 3 cats, and friends for their love and support they give him every day. Mike Manolakes (Mayor Shinn) Mike is making his debut on the TOTH stage, but in the early 1990’s, before there was a TOTH or even a hill behind Bolingbrook Village Hall, the Valley View Theatre Guild performed their summer shows in a tent here, and Mike was in their productions of Harvey and Butterflies are Free. The Music Man is the 75th production in which Mike has appeared in over thirty years of community theatre. Recently he played Juror #11 in Twelve Angry Jurors for the Joliet Drama Guild and the Curate in The Curate Shakespeare As You Like It at Geneva Underground Playhouse, and last summer he directed the Joliet Drama Guild production of The Mystery of Edwin Drood. Drew Markwell (Tommy Djilas) Drew is going to be a sophomore at Plainfield North High School. Drew plays tuba for the Concert Band, rings in his church’s handbell choir and sings bass with the Concert Choir, which was invited to sing at Carnegie Hall next year. Drew has been involved in Boy Scouts since his Kindergarten year, and was recently the youth leader of a newly formed Boy Scout troop in Plainfield. This is Drew’s first theater experience, but he is looking forward to many more. Kelly Markwell (Quartet Captain/Oliver Hix) Kelly is a computer analyst with a degree in music education, and directs a handbell choir in his hometown of Plainfield. His last stage production was as the Cowardly Lion in The Wizard of Oz in 2009. He is the father of two boys (Sam, 11 and Drew, 15) and spends his remaining spare time working with the Boy Scout program.

B I O G R A P H I E S ( c o n t .) Kelly has been married to his gorgeous wife Sherry for 21 years. Sam Markwell (River City Kid) Sam has just finished his fifth grade year at Walker’s Grove in Plainfield. His whole family has been involved in music. Since third grade, Sam has played in his church’s junior hand chime choir, and he has sung in Walker’s Grove choir. He has been involved with Boy Scouts since he was 5 years old. This is Sam’s first theatrical production. Tina Matriciano (Pick-a-Little Lady) Tina lives in Palos Hills and this is her second show with TOTH. She was last seen on this stage in City of Angels as Margaret the maid and a stand in. She has been working with a lot of shows with the Joliet Drama Guild for ten years. She is also working now with Spotlight Theater in Talk Radio. She is thrilled to be working again at TOTH with such a great director, assistant director, choreographer and talented cast. She is looking forward to this fun filled and exciting musical. Terry Michalak (Mrs. Paroo) Terry, also known as Eileen, is returning to the TOTH stage after portraying Auntie Em in The Wizard of Oz. In the past, she has enjoyed playing such roles as Sharon McLonergan in Finian’s Rainbow and Eliza Doolittle in My Fair Lady. She married her best friend in 1970, is mother to two beautiful daughters and is a grandmother as well. Maribeth Murray (River City Kid) Maribeth previously appeared in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and The Wizard of Oz. Before I auditioned for The Music Man, I was not familiar with the musical, and I was pleasantly surprised by the fun songs and the cool dance parts. I hope you enjoy the production as much as I do! Thanks TOTH for the opportunity! Kevin Nepomuceno (Harold Hill) At age 18, Kevin is very excited to be playing the part of Harold Hill. One may recognize Kevin from Bolingbrook High School productions such as Hello Dolly, Noises Off, Into the Woods, and more recently as Daddy Warbucks in

Annie. This is his first time performing at TOTH, and he is enjoying every minute of it. He says “From the people to the show itself, it’s been a blast!” He would like to thank his parents, friends and family for being ever supportive, Michael for giving him such a great opportunity, and of course God for all the blessings in his life. Also, if there’s anything he has learned from the show it is to always “make today worth remembering.” Marc Nodine (Rock Island Captain/Salesman/ Dance Chorus) This is Marc’s 4th production with TOTH. In 2005, he participated in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat as Napthali, then in the fall of the same year he participated in Dangerous Liaisons as Danceny. The following summer he danced in Jesus Christ Superstar. This is also his second production of The Music Man, having played the role of Harold in Bolingbrook High School’s production in Spring 2006. He is excited for you to view one of his favorite shows tonight and hopes you enjoy it. Kristina Parro (Marian) Kristina, a newly graduated senior of BHS, is thrilled to be back on the hill. Recently, you may have seen her in TOTH’s Wizard of Oz and Oklahoma!, or Bolingbrook High School’s Footloose (ensemble), Rehearsal for Murder (Sally Bean), Hello, Dolly! (Minnie Fay), M*A*S*H (Fritzi), Into the Woods (Cinderella’s Mother), Noises Off! (Belinda/ Flavia), and Annie (Grace). Kristina has also commentated for the Easter Seals’ American Girl Fashion Show and has modeled in local Wedding Boutique fashion shows. She would like to thank her family, her friends, Mr. Fisher, and Mr. J for always being there to support her, and Michael, Sharon, and the rest of the production staff for making this summer one to remember. Enjoy the show! Tiffany Prouty (Epworth League/Dance Chorus) Animals seem to be important to me but arguing seems more important. I love my pets Wrigley (golden retriever), Bandit (biting African grey timneh -yes that’s how you spell it- parrot) and our newest addition Snickers (7 month old guinea pig). The Music Man is the first play I’m doing at TOTH and I’m super excited about it. I’m not exactly the best dancer in town but that doesn’t mean I don’t dance. It took me a while to learn the dances but with a little hard work everything is possible. Keep your chin up and your eyes open, luck will always find its way to you. Theatre-on-the-Hill 15

B I O G R A P H I E S ( c o n t .) Alexis Reiter (Epworth League) Alexis is very excited to be a part of The Music Man this summer! This is her 3rd show here at TOTH, and she loves being a part of such a wonderful production! Huge thanks go out to her parents. She hopes you all enjoy the show! Laura Rice (Prop Mistress/ Pick-a-Little Lady) I would like to thank my family for always being there to support my TOTH life. Thanks also to my TOTH family for our special bond we share. This is my fifth TOTH musical and my second time as prop mistress. If I can put a smile on your face, then I did my job. Enjoy the show. Melaura Rice (Amaryllis) Melaura previously appeared in TOTH’s productions of Jesus Christ Superstar and The Wizard of Oz, and is sooo happy to be back at Theatre on the Hill! Everybody here is like family to me, figuratively and literally (with cousin Maribeth Murray and Grandma Laura “Prop Lady” Rice). I’ve got to go because, the Wells Fargo Wagon is a comin now!!!!!! Marie Salvaggione (Alma Hix) Marie is ecstatic to be spending another summer with TOTH. Ever since her first big role as Marilla in Anne of Green Gables in high school (a million years ago) she has enjoyed being in theater. Some of her past productions include The Who’s Tommy as the doctor and various other roles, The Wizard of Oz as a Tree and a beautician, and Laramie Project which was one of her favorites because it challenged her acting skills by being able to play several characters all with different accents. She has also directed, assistant directed and stage managed several productions. Kate Schaeflein (River City Kid) Kate plays the part of Emma Hix, the banker’s daughter. You may recognize her from The Wizard of Oz, where she was a munchkin in the Lollypop Guild. Kate enjoys listening to her music and singing along but acting is in her top two favorite things to do. She is excited about playing a character with parents. Kate would like to thank both of her real parents for driving her back and forth to practice and letting her stay out late and up past her bed time. 16 Theatre-on-the-Hill

Kelsey Schaeflein (Zaneeta Shinn) Kelsey is “Left side” Zaneeta Shinn and had a lot of fun hanging out with her “Right Side” counterpart at rehearsals for The Music Man. At Bolingbrook High School, she played Molly in Annie (Morphans forever!), Poppy in Noises Off, and Mitzi in M*A*S*H. She also performed in several productions at Brooks Middle School. She’d like to thank her Uncle Jim for helping her prepare for her audition and her best friends Suzanne, Sarah and Lydia for always being there for her. Tess Schaeflein (River City Kid) Tess is a rising 7th grader at Brooks Middle School where her favorite subject is math. She is proud to be moving to algebra next year. Her parents are so happy to get to see her on the stage again this summer with her brother and sisters. Tess would like to give a shout out to her kitty, Jenna, the best cat ever! Too bad there wasn’t a part in the show for a wonder cat! Troy Schaeflein (Newspaper Reader/ Tommy’s Gang) Troy is thrilled to be in The Music Man. He plays Jon Somble, one of the slower members of Tommy’s gang. When duty calls, he becomes faster than a speeding bullet, more powerful than a locomotive and able to leap tall buildings in a single bound, a stranger from the planet Krypton, the man of steel, Superman...just kidding. Troy would like to thank Michael, Sharon and KB for this great opportunity to be in this show. He would also like to thank his parents for never letting him give up. Sydney Schultz (Violet Shinn) Hi! I am playing the role of Violet Shinn and my sister’s name is Gracie Shinn. I hold six belts in Tae Kwon Do and I am very excited for my next play. Jonathan Slowik (Tommy Djilas) Jonathan is very excited to be returning to the TOTH stage as Tommy for their production of The Music Man. He is well versed with TOTH, having previously appeared in Oklahoma!, The Wizard of Oz and (ironically) The Who’s Tommy. Jonathan also appeared as a chorus member in BHS’s production of

B I O G R A P H I E S ( c o n t .) Annie and is a sophomore at the same school. He spends probably more conscious hours there then he does anywhere else in the whole wide world. Jonathan also enjoys singing in the BHS Sunrise Singers and playing trombone in Wind Symphony. After high school, Jonathan plans to go to college to study music education. Bobbie Speer (Pick-a-Little Lady) A 44 year Bolingbrook resident (44yrs), Bobbie teaches in Valley View School District 365-U. She enjoys aerobics, reading, gardening and spending time at ballgames with her 3 sons (Josh, Jared, Justin) and husband (John). Justin Speer (Newspaper Reader/Tommy’s Gang) Justin is 14 years old, soon to be a Brooks graduate with honors, and has appeared in the Brooks Middle School production of Robin Hood Men in Tights (Little John). He enjoys baseball, football and plays in a local rock school band. He looks forward to playing football at Bolingbrook High School. Gail St. Aubin (Eulalie Mackecknie Shinn) Gail is proud to be performing in her seventh show at TOTH. Interestingly, The Music Man was the very first production presented on this stage when it was built in 1999, and Gail was part of the cast of that show, along with all three of her children who are now adults. Gail has also had the honor of actually meeting Meredith Willson in person, when he came to guest conduct the University of Michigan band (many long years ago!). Eulalie Mackecknie Shinn is Gail’s “dream role” (all actors have one!) and has been since she was about 12 years old, so she’d like to thank Michael, Sharon and KB for this wonderful opportunity and a dream come true! Enjoy the show! Jillian Stassus (Zaneeta Shinn) Bonjour! Jillian is a 15-year-old Sophomore at Plainfield North High School. Jillian has been involved with TOTH since third grade and she enjoys every second of it. She loves all of the people here, and they have practically become her family. vegetarian recipes and listening to music (especially the Beatles and the Hush Sound!) Enjoy the show! Michael Stassus (Marcellus Washburn) Michael has performed in many TOTH productions over the years. You may recognize him as The Cowardly Lion from The Wizard of Oz, Ali Hakim in Oklahoma! or maybe even Pontius Pilate in Jesus Christ Superstar. When he’s not “larger than life” on the stage, he’s “just the right size” as a husband and father of two daughters in Plainfield. Jim Steadman (Salesman/ Street Sweeper) A Bolingbrook resident since 1999, Jim holds a minor in Speech with concentrations in broadcasting and theater from the UW-Eau Claire. After moving to Wausau, WI in 1968, Jim became very active in the Wausau Community Theater, serving on the Board of Directors and performing in a variety of roles and capacities. He played Felix in The Odd Couple, Mordred in Camelot, Charlie in The Music Man (while serving as Stage Manager, Sound Technician and Producer), Buddy in Come Blow Your Horn as well as stints in various shows as director, lighting director, sound technician, stage manager and co-playwright of a three-act production. Jim’s last appearance on stage was in 1976 in One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest with the Drama Group in Chicago Heights, IL. Previous to these roles, Shirley did some acting in storybook roles and Shakespeare in grade school and was in the school chorus. Shirley has always loved theatre. Now, later in life she can fulfill some of her acting desires and abilities. Kesley Van Dahm (River City Kid) Kesley is 10 years old and is in fourth grade at Wood View Elementary in Bolingbrook. She loves to sing and dance. She has been involved with her church choir in cantatas that told the stories of Daniel, Jonah and Noah.
