THE BRAMBLETT MEMORIAL CHAMBER SERIES The Bramblett Memorial Chamber Series was created in 1998 to honor the memory of our dear friend and colleague Jerry Earl Bramblett who served on the music department faculty from 1973-1994, the year he passed away. He was a vital force in the Music Department, not only throughout his many performances, but also in the musical excellence he expected from this students and from the department in general. As a solo pianist and chamber music collaborator, he presented over 300 recitals on campus, as well as throughout Wisconsin and elsewhere in the U.S. A dedicated teacher, he was greatly respected by his students. To those of us who knew and heard Jerry perform, it was when he was performing in the chamber music setting that his true genius as an artist was realized. With Jerry’s dedication and artistry as our inspiration, the series seeks to actively promote and bring high-level chamber music to the campus to enrich the cultural environment of the University and the community. Former chancellor Greenhill wrote: “He was a vigorous performer, teacher and scholar whose energies and musicianship provided a model of professionalism for his students.” BR AMBLET T CHAMBER MUSIC SERIES DONORS 12-13 Samaritan John & Sandra Heyer Advocate Robert & Marion Burrows Ed & Kay Drexler Ann Bramblett Fowler David & Kathy Granum H. Most recently, she is working with Ann Ellsworth performing a series of Baroque concertos for two soprano horns. Along with her busy performing schedule, she also enjoys managing NYC’s Salchow & Sons Bowmaking shop. Leelanee Sterrett, aka Cosmic Barbie, is a Northern Michigan native and grew up in a musically enthusiastic family. After attending Interlochen Arts Academy, she earned degrees from the University of WisconsinMadison, as a student of Douglas Hill, and the Yale School of Music, with William Purvis. In June 2013, Leelanee joined the New York Philharmonic as Assistant Principal and Utility Horn. She has also been a member of the New New Haven Symphony and the La Crosse and Fox Valley Symphonies in Wisconsin, and has spent summers at the Tanglewood Music Center, the Pacific and Sarasota Music festivals, and the National Orchestral Institute. From 2010 to 2012, Leelanee was a fellow of The Academy—a program of Carnegie Hall, The Juilliard School, and the Weill Music Institute in partnership with the New York City Department of Education. During her time as a fellow, Leelanee performed regularly on the stages of Carnegie Hall and at venues such as (Le) Poisson Rouge and

The Greene Space, but also in numerous public school auditoriums and community centers throughout the five boroughs. She also worked closely with elementary school students in Queens, bringing professionallevel performance and pedagogy to young audiences beyond the traditional concert hall. Leelanee enjoys life in Brooklyn with her husband Joe, an electric bassist, tuba player and all-around rockstar. Laura Weiner, aka Alpine Barbie, is an enthusiastic performer, teacher, and artistic ambassador committed to sharing her music with any and all. As the horn player for The Academy/ Ensemble ACJW, she performs regularly at Carnegie Hall, the Juilliard School, and neighborhood locales all across New York City. She was a featured soloist in Messaien’s Des canyons aux étoiles... last season at Zankel Hall for which she received rave reviews. Laura has performed with musical groups as diverse as the New World Symphony, Argento Chamber Ensemble, and Madison Bach Musicians. She has been a member of the LaCrosse and Beloit symphony orchestras in Wisconsin, and has been awarded fellowships at the Norfolk Chamber Festival, Colorado College Summer Festival, Texas Music Festival, and American Institute of Musical Studies in Austria. She received her bachelor’s degree summa cum laude from Northwestern University and her master’s degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison on a University Fellowship. Her principal teachers include Gail Williams, Douglas Hill, Daniel Grabois, and William Barnewitz. Laura is also a teaching artist at a high school in Queens and performs with the New York Philharmonic Teaching Artists as part of their School Partnership Program. In her free time, she climbs mountains (obviously) and practices Tae Kwon Do.
