EXCITING NEWS! John McGivern’s unique and successful portrayal of the narrator in last season’s production of Our Town, and the flattering Whitewater episode of his hit public TV show, Around the Corner, sparked the idea. Now it is a reality! John McGivern, the Emmy Awardwinning actor and comedian from Milwaukee, has signed on as Young Auditorium’s spokesperson. Here are a few words from John: “I’m thrilled to be the spokesperson for Young Auditorium. I have performed all over the country and extensively around this state and consider Young Auditorium a performing arts center that raises and sets the bar very high. Young Auditorium is a premier performing arts center in Wisconsin with amazing facilities, programming that respects its community and 4

audience, and a smart, involved staff with years of experience producing and presenting live performances.” And the season wouldn’t be complete without having him return to perform another of his productions, Summer Stories, on April 25, 2014. We have some additional exciting changes for the new season we want to share with you. The 2013-14 season brochure has been streamlined featuring the season’s highlights - and a full listing of all the season’s events. We are striving to move away from printed materials and communicate via the web. So please sign up for our ArtsENews email newsletter and join us on Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube.
YOUNG AUDITORIUM 2013-2014 SEASON We continue to upgrade our infrastructure and maintain state of the art technology in the auditorium. Internally, we’ve installed new lighting and sound boards. Externally, we invite you to enjoy the new courtyard between the Young Auditorium and the new Dance Studio. Another change is our new slogan – COME BE AMAZED. It seemed only fitting because we firmly believe you will be amazed by the variety and quality of the performances we have in store for you. Some of the season’s amazing events include: Memphis - 2010 Tony Award for Best Musical; Spank! The Fifty Shades Parody - a girls night out; Neil Berg’s Broadway Holiday - Broadway stars singing signature show tunes and holiday favorites; Close To You: The Music of The Carpenters -
on Valentine’s Day; the return of Trinity Academy of Irish Dance, and Church Basement Ladies’ new production - A Mighty Fortress is Our Basement. Find a full description of the season and check out our NEW website at uww.edu/youngauditorium. Here are a few closing words from our new spokesperson John McGivern: “When they say ‘Come Be Amazed,’ they mean it. This place and their mission to serve this community is amazing . . . the Whitewater community is blessed to have a performing arts center of this caliber in their backyard. They should be very proud.” Thank you John! We are proud to have you as part of our team.
