01 RETAIL SPACE DESIGN Retail Store of a Knife 3rd year project Semester - VI Instructor - Hetal Shah
RETAIL STORE OF A KNIFE BRAND - Wüsthof SITE - United colors of Benetton, Centre Square mall, Vadodara.
ABOUT THE BRAND Wusthof is a knife-maker based company in Solingen, Germany, noted for its high quality products. It was founded in the year 1814 by the Wusthof family owning the company from seven generations. It is currently headed by Harald Wusthof and Viola Wusthof.
ABOUT THE SITE The arrival to the site can be possible through two main landmarks - Race Course circle and Genda Circle. The site has three main entries - Pedestrian Walk ways, Two wheeler’s entry and Four Wheeler’s entry. The people parking vehicles on the same level and the pedestrians tend to converge to a common entrance of the mall which has a strong axis. This axis then diverges to many secondary and tertiary axis and one of them leads to the main site - United Colours of Benetton.
CONCEPT
The mechanism of the product (knife) and its use is the underlying concept of the retail shop design. The movement of knife - VERTICAL AXIS The layers of vegetable getting cut - HORIZONTAL AXIS The intersection of two axis in all coordinates X-Y axis, Y-Z axis and X-Z axis The axis also refers to the human sensory perceptions. SIGHT - Visual Display TOUCH - Tangible Display Another criteria taken into consideration was the contrasting features of knife and vegetables - Sharpness of the blade and the softness of the vegetables and is displayed by the Mass and Void Layer. This layer mainly deals with the elements of the display system. A steel shaft and a steel frame in contrast to wooden planks were chosen to show the contrast and intersection of axis. The wooden members are the horizontal axis dealing with the tangible display and seating and the steel members acted as the vertical axis for visual display and digital screening.

DESIGNING THE KNIFE STAND The basic idea was to design a minimalist stand because of the small linear dimensions of the knife itself. The materials used are also the same materials used in the construction of the knife. Maintaining the linear axis of knife , there are three axis of the linear steel rods intersecting and projecting out which is framed with wooden holder and a rubber cap. The knife is placed in these two holders and the front elevation looks sleek and simple.

THEATRE DESIGN FOR A MARATHI PLAY
SITE STUDY
MOODS DETAILS CLUSTER
PLAY - Ghashiram Kotwaal INFLUENCES - Maratha style architecture SITE - Sarkar Wada site, Vadodara.
CONCEPT
The understanding of the primary and secondary grid of the structure and the elements or vice-versa is then translated into the basic grid on the site. The unfolding experienced in the plan causes the shift on the grid which creates visual accidents. The alignment of the elements with respect to its own primary grid also creates spatial accidents. Therefore, the site has the reflection of its own grid of elements and it is superimposed with the structural grid of the theatre. The unfolding character of the plans is then translated into the making of the seating of audience where it has those junctions where the entry for the stage artists are demarcated and the angle and the position of the seating of audience completely changes to 90 degrees according to the grid below. This also gives the possibility of primary and secondary spaces of the stage where certain acts can be performed which is primarily for a particular audience. Another set of events is performed on the other end. And the main stage being for the entire theatre even being primary, acts secondary during certain points. It is this relation of the stage and audience, elements and structure, movement and pause, spatiality and visual connections which causes the accidents within the theatre inspite of the incidental grid of the site.

ABSTRACT
The play Ghashiram Kotwal strikes to the major problems in the society of caste discrimination, politics, power, prostitution, corruption and ignorance. The writer Vijay Tendulkar talks about the The Unspoken Truth. The play is Timeless and talks about the Darker side of the society. There is a strong grid which connects all the characters and all are dependent on each other. The accidents occur due to the given positions, entry and exit where the character who aren’t related meet each other to give a gist that somewhere in the society one is going to become like the other one or the consequence will be of the later one. For example Gauri accidentally meets the Brahman’s wife. This doesn’t happen in the play but in the true sense of the society Gauri becomes the Brahman’s wife. There is a prominent interrelation and interconnection between all the characters irrespective of the fact that they don’t even meet each other during the play because everyone is playing each other’s role in an order at some point. Therefore, The entire play is Incidental yet Accidental.
03 CORPORATE OFFICE DESIGN Corporate office of LinkedIn 4th year project Semester - VII Instructor - Prof. Percy Pithawala
CORPORATE OFFICE OF LINKEDIN BRAND - Linkedin SITE - Printing Press, Vadodara.
LINKEDIN - LinkedIn is a business-oriented social networking service. Founded on December 14, 2002, and launched on May 5, 2003. It is mainly used for professional networking. WORK CULTURE - A Space to support a new way of working that would enhance the talents and diversity, which would support the variety, the natural rhythm of work and its balance with private life. VALUES - CONNECTION, TRANSFORMATION, DIGITALIZATION AND DYNAMISM.
PROGRAMME
The idea is to have a strong transformation of formality to informality as we go higher. The existing structural grid is to be broken with the introduction of few random diagonals which not only adds to the visual experience but are also the physical connecting elements. Splash of colours and the play of light will also add so much drama in that open plan space.
