This past April, according to Corey Miller aka C-Murder’s Publicist ‘Tammy Ty Page, Miller has been safely transferred from Angola Prison to Hunt Prison in Louisiana, the same facility which houses McKinley “Mac” Phipps, another artist from Master P‘s No Limit Records. Although a good sign, Miller remains incarcerated with no release date in sight, although he has always stated he was innocent of all charges and to this day maintains his innocence. According to sources close to the case, the real killer recorded a confession to the murder of which Miller was convicted in the presence of his own legal counsel and this confession had been offered up to the authorities in Louisiana on multiple occasions but fell on deaf ears for quite some time apparently. Word has it that the confession COMPLETELY EXONORATES Miller in conjunction with the crime. Miller was sentenced to life in prison, with what amounted to no conclusive evidence according to previous stories. Statements on his conviction include one from a juror in the case who provided a thirteen-page hand-written affidavit describing the bullying and coercive tactics used in the deliberation room to obtain the guilty verdict, which landed Miller his life sentence. (See the documents in this article provided exclusively to Hype Magazine). Eyewitness testimony was a key piece of Miller’s trial, with both witnesses changing their stories years later to no avail. Kenneth Jordan and Darnell Jordan, no relation, now say they were coerced and threatened into testifying that Corey Miller was the gunman. Both men have since submitted affidavits over the past two weeks accusing authorities of coercing the identifications and forcing them to testify despite knowing the men hadn’t been truthful. Kenneth Jordan said he felt pressured to name Miller as the gunman because JPSO detectives threatened to arrest him on a felony carnal knowledge charge involving his underage girlfriend. Kenneth Jordan agreed to testify, and authorities, including the Jefferson Parish district attorney’s office, agreed not to move forward with the charge, court records said.

At the age of 16, Taymor Travon McIntyre aka Tay-K, was charged with the murder of 21-year-old Ethan Walker, stemming from what police believe to be a premeditated robbery turned homicide. Ethan Miller was shot and killed at his home on the 1500 block in Mansfield, Texas. Police believe Tay-K along with six other people, including Megan Holt and Ariana Bharrat, planned and carried the robbery of the 21-year-old drug dealer. Holt and Bharrat are said to have gone to Walker’s home with the plan being to distract him with their advances. One of the women then let Tay-K and more assailants into the home, where a struggle broke out and Walker was murdered before
the crew fled. One man, Zachary Beloate, was also shot but survived his injuries. Tay-K was apprehended and charged with capital murder. He was ordered to be placed on house arrest. With a pending certification hearing to determine whether or not he will be tried as an adult, Tay-K cut off his ankle monitor and went on the run and announced his plan to the world on Twitter. “Fuck dis house arrest shit fuck 12 they gn hav 2 catch me on hood,” the tweet read. After three months on the run, Tay-K announced the release of his new song and video, “The Race,” on Twitter. “Feds can’t hold me back here it go Tay-K - The Race Music Video,” the post read.
The video showed the rapper bragging about his escape between menacing shots while toting multiple firearms. “Fuck a beat, I was trying to beat a case/But I ain’t beat that case, bitch I did the race,” he rapped. “I woke up too moody, who gon’ die today.” The video went viral. The same day “The Race” was released, U.S. marshals arrested Tay-K at a friend’s home in Elizabeth, N.J. They credited the arrest with “dozens of tips” that “poured in from the entire country.” He was also charged with two more major crimes. While on the run, authorities believe Tay-K robbed, shot and killed 23-year-old Mark Saldiva at a Chic-Fil-A in San Antonio, Texas. According to witnesses, multiple men were seen arguing in a black SUV. Police say the group robbed Saldivar before he exited the vehicle and began screaming for help. He ended up jumping on top of the car, before one of the passengers, believed to be Tay-K, got out and shot him. The group then fled the scene, leaving Saldivar to die. Police also claim Tay-K assaulted a 65-year-old man in an Arlington, Texas park and tack on an aggravated assault charge. Though he is 17 (and was 16 at the time the crimes were committed), a judge ruled that Tay-K should be
tried as an adult on capital murder charges. “The judge ruled that his case should [b]e moved to the adult court based on his age (and the fact that the juvenile court will lack jurisdiction soon),” read a statement from one of Tay-K’s lawyers, M. Trent Loftin. “The judge was very clear to tell Mr. McIntyre on the record that this decision has no bearing whatsoever of his guilt/innocence in this case...” One of Tay-K’s accomplices in the home robbery and murder of 21-year-old Ethan Walker was sentenced to 20 years in prison and found guilty of delinquent charges of capital murder and aggravated robbery. Prosecutors claim that the unnamed girl (she was only 17 at the time of the incident) masterminded the invasion. Citing the rapper’s disdain for the law displayed specifically on the track “The Race,” a judge denied a bond for Tay-K. “I don’t know how many people are supposed to die and I don’t know why we... as a country seem to glorify bad acts by putting out records and videos and people are following in this,” State District Judge Wayne Salvant said. “It’s my understanding that people throughout this country have ‘Free Tay-K’ signs up or ‘goto’ funds to fund his defense and this court has a problem with that,” he added. “I don’t know what this country has become when people can go out and allegedly commit heinous crimes and be glorified for it.” While awaiting trial in Tarrant County Jail, Tay-K caught yet another charge, this time for felony posses-
sion of a prohibited substance. The charge stemmed from a cell phone that was discovered tucked into a pair of the rapper’s socks during a search. Tay-K was then transferred from the Tarrant County Jail in Texas to the maximum-security Lon Evans Corrections Center. There, he was placed on solitary confinement for 23 hours a day and allowed an hour in the gym. The relocation was due partly to an altercation Tay-K got into with another inmate. Tay-K got a minor victory in court when Texas’ Second Court of Appeals rules that State District Judge Wayne Salvant was wrong in refusing to set a bail for Tay-K concerning his aggravated robbery case. However, due to no bail being set for his capital murder cases, the rapper remained in jail while he awaits trial. Things got worse for Tay-K when an accomplice believed to have taken part in the home invasion and murder of Ethan Miller entered a plea deal and agreed to testify against her three co-defendants, including the rapper. Prosecutors waived the capital murder charge against Ariana Bharrat, as she
agreed to plead guilty to aggravated robbery in exchange for a 25-year prison sentence. Despite his circumstances, Tay-K remains in good spirits according to a Twitter and Instagram post from inside Lon Evans Corrections Center. In late August of this year, the rapper uploaded a photo of himself in his cell, writing “Live From the Gates of Hell #FreeMe.” It’s unclear when the photo was taken or if it will have any implications following his charge for possession of a cell phone from earlier in August.
Rapper Kodak Black, whose real name is Dieuson Octave’s most current rap sheet starts back in October 2015. Kodak was arrested in Florida and charged with assault, robbery, kidnapping, driving with a suspended license and possession of weed after he was pulled over in his vehicle by authorities on suspicion of robbery and assault. Kodak, who was found to be in possession of marijuana and was driving on a suspended license, was garnering a significant amount of buzz from his hit single “Skrt” at the time of his arrest. He was later released on bond. On Christmas 2015, Kodak Black was pulled over by police in St. Lucie County, Fla., and charged with possession of 20 grams or less of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. Kodak was also arrested and charged with possession of a weapon or ammo by a convicted felon, possession of marijuana and multiple traffic violations. Kodak, who was allegedly spotted purchasing marijuana from two men in front of a known drug-dwelling spot, fled from police and ran a red light before pulling over. Police claimed to have seen Kodak toss a gun into a dumpster and later recovered a loaded Glock 23 .40 caliber pistol. Kodak was
booked the rapper and held on $5,000 bond until his release six months later. On May 18, 2016, Kodak was ordered into court and detained for open warrants stemming from his 2015 arrest on charges including armed robbery and false imprisonment. On Aug. 16, 2016, months after being detained in relation to his 2015 arrest on robbery and kidnapping charges, Kodak was sentenced to one year of house arrest and five years on probation during a hearing in a Fort Lauderdale, Fla., court. In addition to house arrest and probation, Kodak, who plead no contest on all charges, was also ordered to perform community service, anger management and community control supervision. After being sentenced to one year of house arrest and set to be released from prison, on Aug. 17, 2016, Kodak was held on a pair of warrants, halting his homecoming. The two warrants, one of which stemmed from Kodak’s 2015 arrest on possession of weed and possession or use of paraphernalia charges in St. Lucie County, Fla., and another out of Florence, S.C., for criminal sexual misconduct, resulted in the rapper being denied bond the following day (Aug.
18, 2016) and remaining in custody. Kodak was later accused by the Florence County Sheriff’s Office of sexual battery instead of criminal sexual misconduct, a crime punishable by up to 30 years in prison. On Sept. 19, 2016, Kodak was sentenced to 120 days in prison after pleading no contest to one charge of possession of 20 grams or less of marijuana and one charge of use or possession of marijuana paraphernalia stemming from a 2015 traffic stop in St. Lucie County, Fla. In addition to having to serve prison time, the rapper’s driver’s license was suspended for a year and he was ordered to pay about $298 in court fees. Finally, on Nov. 28, Kodak was released from St. Lucie County Jail and transferred to the custody of deputies in Florence, S.C., to face charges of criminal sexual misconduct. “According to investigators, on or about February 7, 2016, Octave is alleged to have engaged in the sexual battery of the victim at a hotel located at 2120 West Lucas Street, Florence, SC,” Major Michael M. Nunn, a spokesman for the Florence County Sheriff’s Office, said in a statement from August 2016 regarding Kodak’s charges. Kodak’s lawyers, Gary Kollin and Allan Zamren, denied all charges levied
against their client at the time, stating, “We are firmly convinced that he will be vindicated in that charge and shortly be set free.” Shortly after that statement, Kodak Black was freed on bond and released from prison, where he was serving time on criminal sexual conduct charges, after posting $100,000 bond. “I’m happy to finally be going home to my family and friends,” Kodak wrote in a post on Instagram. “I look forward to clearing my name in the very near future. I want to thank God, my family, my team (Vanessa, Phatboy and James McMillan), Atlantic Records, my lawyers and all of my fans for your continuous love and support. I can’t wait to get back to doing what I love most—working at being the illest rapper alive.” Kodak’s freedom was short lived as he was arrested on Feb. 28, 2017, during a court hearing after a judge determined that the rapper had violated the terms of his house arrest. The decision came in part as a result of Kodak’s alleged assault of a strip club employee in Miami on Feb. 4, during which the victim claimed the rapper punched her repeatedly following an argument. After being found guilty on five counts of violating house arrest on April 26, 2017, Kodak was sentenced to 364 days in prison on May 4, 2017, with the possibility of 180 days being shaved off of his sentence pending his completion of a life skills course. He completed the course and was released from jail on June 5, after serving 97 days of his 364day sentence, which the rapper announced with a post on his Instagram page celebrating his freedom. His troubles remaining not too far behind, On Oct. 9, 2017, a grand jury in Florence County, S.C., indicted Kodak for first-degree criminal sexual conduct in relation to an encounter the rapper had with a teenager at the Comfort Inn and Suites hotel in February 2016. On Jan. 18, 2018, Kodak was arrested at home in Florida on several charges,
including grand theft of a firearm, two charges of possession of a weapon or ammo by a Florida delinquent adult felon, possession of cannabis over 20 grams, child neglect without great bodily harm and two counts of parole violation. The arrest occurred after authorities were alerted of an Instagram Live video in which the rapper appeared to be surrounded by guns and marijuana while in the presence of his son. However, Kodak’s lawyers filed motions to dismiss the charges, claiming that the marijuana and guns shown in the video were merely props for creative use only. Kodak Black caught a big win when three of the charges he caught following a raid on his home were dropped in a Broward County court due to insufficient evidence. However, despite the dropped charges, Kodak faced four other charges, including marijuana possession and possession of ammunition, and was held without bail for violating his probation. On Aug. 18, of this year, Kodak was released from jail after serving seven months of a one-year sentence for possession of ammunition and possession of marijuana. Having his time reduced enabled the rapper to return to the streets sooner than expected, much to the delight of his fans. Roughly a week after his early release from jail, Kodak scored another victory when the Department of Justice recommended that the rapper be let off of the probation stemming from the drug possession charge he caught following the raid of his home in January 2018. In light of the recommendation, the court terminated Kodak probation immediately. Now 2019 is upon us and we truly wish Kodak the best in regards to his legal troubles. It’s suspect that the system started catching up with Kodak as he grew into the now international artist that he is, and its a sight to see his music being able to soar above it all. ts that Zee sh*t, that’s that Zee sh*t.

With so much legal trouble looming, it’s understandable that the 21-year-old rapper wishes the world would just focus on his music. So much so that when he made an appearance on New York’s Hot 97’s “Ebro in the Morning” to promote his upcoming album, Dying to Live. The interview went as these things typically go—amicably enough, with Kodak and the show’s hosts chopping it up about his single, “ZeZe” and, at one point, talking about XXXTentacion. Then Ebro broached Kodak’s sexual assault charge from 2016—a timely topic, considering Kodak recently received an April 2019 trial date for the case. The charges stem from an incident where the rapper allegedly pinned down, bit, and raped a teenage girl while in a hotel in Florence, S.C. Kodak refused to answer, calling out Ebro for using his troubles for entertainment, and ultimately walked out if the interview.

The 47-year-old rapper, known to law enforcement and the courts as Earl Simmons, has been incarcerated since his bail was revoked in January. Federal Judge Jed Rakoff ordering the rapper imprisoned for a year in a tax fraud case. DMX, the recording artist, performer, and actor whose real name is Earl Simmons, was charged last year with 14 counts of federal income tax evasion involving $1.7 million in alleged tax liabilities. The list of charges was very long, potentially entitling prosecutors to seek a whopping 44 years in prison. Facing that kind of potential punishment, and with the kind of evidence it appeared the government had, in December, DMX wisely pleaded guilty to just one count. That meant a maximum of 5 years. His sentencing is set for March 29, 2018. The one-count deal was surely a savvy one, and the potential five-year prison term could end up being much less. But now, the feds want it all.
According to Rolling Stone MagazineOn Monday, rapper Daniel “Tekashi 6ix9ine” Hernandez pleaded not guilty in a New York court for racketeering and firearm charges, his attorney Lance Lazzaro confirmed. Hernandez will remain in custody until his trial, now set for September 4, 2019. Lazzaro did not make a new request for bail after the judge denied his last offer, of $1 million, at Hernandez’ arraignment last week. Tekashi 6ix9ine is facing a mandatory minimum sentence of 32 years in prison, according to the prosecuting U.S. attorney at the rapper’s arraignment on Monday night. The rapper was arrested on Sunday night and faces federal charges including racketeering allegations stemming from Hernandez’s involvement with the Nine Trey Bloods, as well as a previously unreported armed robbery.

Back in March, Juelz was arrested for bringing a gun to an airport and then fleeing the scene before an arrest could be made. Juelz Santana took a plea and was sentenced to 27 months in federal prison and a subsequent 12 months of supervised released over his airport drug case. No date was set on when he will begin his sentence.
In April 2018, the Famerica Records rapper was placed in federal custody for charges of conspiracy to commit a felony. Authorities discovered nearly $1 million worth of marijuana in his Georgia home. Born Terrell Davis, he’s currently detained at Georgia’s Robert A. Deyton Detention Facility. His attempts to set a court appearance to
get a pre-trial release have been unsuccessful. According to news reports, he was arrested in April for conspiracy to distribute marijuana after authorities allegedly discovered him shuttling 444 pounds of marijuana (which holds a value of around $840,000) into an Atlanta airport on a private plane. An affidavit obtained by new outlets also reports that the “Can’t Lie” musician has a leadership role in a gang known as “Famerica,” which allegedly sells drugs through properties Davis rents in the city.

Music Manager Mendeecees Harris was sentenced to eight years in federal prison for drug trafficking. Mendeecees, 37, also agreed to forfeit the $171,000 he made from the television show Love & Hip Hop which chronicled his journey on his way to prison and the effects it had on his family, mainly his wife Yandy and his children as she struggled to keep the families intact and get along with his other baby mamas. Mendeecees also had to part ways with a 2011 Audi R8 sports car worth $111,000. Harris pleaded guilty in April to conspiracy to distribute and possess heroin and cocaine. Prosecutors said the 37-year-old music manager was involved in drug trafficking from 2005 until 2012, including from 2006 to 2008 when he was part of an operation that distributed drugs in the upstate city of Rochester, where he was prosecuted.

In October, Gucci pleaded no contest to the charges. He was found guilty of aggravated assault and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon for that incident and was sentenced to six months in prison. Since his release from prison, Gucci has been a completely transformed version of himself, so much so that rumors have it that he was cloned while incarcerated. Besides dropping new music, Guwop went on to have a fairytale wedding that was nationally televised and even became an author.

Event Recap
Ford Ent Mag’s second ever Listening Session went down in a major way this past December 16th in Ft Myers, FL. Featuring a handful of artists, a panel of 4 “Listeners”, and a captivated audience, The Listening Session was deemed by all, “a cultural necessity” for the music scene here in Ft Myers. Each artist was able to have 3 tracks played for the audience, after briefly getting interviewed by the panelists. Each artist was then given honest feedback in regards to each track and the panelists. Artists were also able to obtain valuable pieces of advice and information in regards to the music industry. Mainly about the importance of having a high quality sound. Another great piece of advice that night came from veteran artist “Frank Lini”, who also featured a track, in which he advised artists to choose a focus “either you’re in the streets or you’re doing music, you can’t do both. You have to choose one to focus on.” Our next Listening Session is coming up on January 6th. Any artists interested on participating can sign up online at www.Fordentmag.com
