The importance of self-awareness 1.19.19 is more than just a date to designer Danae, of Charlotte, NC… It’s the birth of her much anticipated ONE.NINE.COLLECTION. This collection is the beginning of a new feel for 2019. The brand from Dette (D-Yet) is perfect for all women from size x-small to x-large. Expect rich looking colors, bold detail and versatility with each piece. Danae sketches and designs each piece so the quality in her words is “unmatched” “The collection is comfortable, but can also be spiced up. It’s a change for the fashion forward female.” Danae describes herself as a creative and detailed individual with a vision and mission to build her brand. Dette (which is her middle name) is a brand that symbolizes who she is as a creative female and reflects her personal style. Growing up, Danae would tell her mother that she wanted to be a designer, and today her dreams is reality. She has officially been a designer for 14 months, a

Before you can GLOW you have to GROW.. and in order to grow you must be properly rooted and watered… in YOURSELF. Which brings us to this week’s topic.. SELF AWARENESS Self-awareness can be defined as our ability to be conscious of our own character, feelings, motives, and desires. It gets deeper than merely learning more about yourself though.. It is also about paying attention to our inner state with an open heart and mind.

www.PrettyHustlaz.com In a sense, self-awareness is simply self-control. Have you ever been having a conversation with a friend and you see their mouth moving but you aren’t hearing a word coming out of their mouth because you’re lost in your own thoughts? Or maybe you have thoughts moving through your head so often and so fast that you can’t even sleep at night. Both signs of limited self-awareness and I am SOOOO guilty of this. Believe it or not, many psychologists found that almost half of the time we operate on “autopilot”. Which means that we are unconscious of what we are doing and how we feel and our mind is constantly wandering. We aren’t living in the present moment because we are too worried about the future. But, In order to glow up the REAL, YOU has to show up… and by that, I mean you in this PRESENT MOMENT with your current thoughts and feelings. If you don’t know who you are and you aren’t learning, who are you imitating? God created us all with UNIQUE traits, talents, and characteristics that set us apart. If you want to fulfill your purpose in life you must first connect with YOURSELF. Becoming more self-aware is very important because it allows us to live in the present moment and be conscious of our needs while monitoring our thoughts, emotions, and behaviors from moment to moment. It is can be viewed as an evaluation of yourself conducted by yourself that compares our current behavior with our internal values.

How do you know if you’re self-aware you ask? People who are self-aware tend to act more consciously than passively and have a positive outlook on life. They have better life experiences and are compassionate to themselves and others. By acknowledging how we feel on the inside we recognize and accept our emotions as normal HUMAN behavior as opposed to beating ourselves up about it and placing ourselves in bad psychological health. EVERYBODY HAS FEELINGS. PERIOD. As humans, we may never understand ourselves but the journey of learning, understanding and exploring ourselves makes it all worth it. I’m glad that you asked. Before you can become more self-aware you have to know how self-aware you are at this PRESENT MOMENT. I would love to hear from my audience so, consider these questions: Are you self-aware? Do you acknowledge self-awareness in your personal and professional life? Be sure to follow me on Instagram for the latest and greatest TEA from @TheNuesstand. 4 benefits of drinking a gallon of water everyday By Amina Monik

of water, hydration is essential to glowing, wrinkle free, and supple skin. Not drinking enough water will cause dehydration to the skin becoming tight, dry, and flaky.

Toxic Flush Out

Water intake helps the body perform a natural detox through urination and sweat. Inadequate water intake will cause kidneys to overwork in trying to flush out toxins from the body. Drinking a gallon water daily ensures that water will effortlessly carry nutrients to our cells, flush out waste, and aid in digestion.

Brain Power

Yes! Water can improve our brain function. Drinking water on a daily basis can improve abilities like thinking and concentration, as well boosting energy levels! Our brains are made up of 73% water so it’s no secret that “feeding” our brain water would provide the brain and body a significant boost!

Weight Loss & Regulation

Of course there would be no Water Challenge around the fitness topic unless it actually helped in losing weight. Drinking a gallon of water a day provides a natural suppressant to “trick” the body in feeling fuller longer ultimately As the new year goes on there are many challenges helping reducing the amount a person’s food consumption. For some, this is easier said than done, @AmianaMonik The Water Challenge has raised a couple of questions for those that are new to the daily gallon. Drinking a gallon of water everyday does make you frequent the bathroom quite often but committing to one gallon of water daily provides many “pros” that outweigh the “cons”.

Are Situationships Replacing Relationships?

By Kei Ross

www.PrettyHustlaz.com I am sure we can all agree that the dating game has changed tremendously. Do we even date anymore or is the foundation of dating based on Netflex and Chill? Honestly I just want to throw the entire dating scene away. So lets talk about what a situationship is! According to the Urban dictionary, a situationship is a relationship that has no title. Its like a more than a friendship but less than a relationship. It’s the awkward space in between. A situationship will having you losing sleep and stalking your significant others social media trying to figure them out. Most people don’t even realize that they are in a situationship, because they have become so accustom to just going with the flow.

You have no title- SMH. In reality this one hit home for me personally. You been “talking” to this person forever and there is no title. Either because he is not ready, or how do you say it “what’s understood don’t have to be explained”.

You’re not dating or pursuing anyone else- No mat-

ter how long its been you have this false hope that you all are going to live happily ever after. That he is the one, even though he doesn’t take you out and you have no title. You put all your eggs in one basket, passing up good guy after I can assure you that someone is going to catch feelings good guy. Situationships will definitely have you delusional. while in a situationship. That’s when things turn ugly, or No future plans- You don’t talk about the future because when females start “acting all crazy”. I’m not sure who to blame, if its the men for not wanting to commit, or the women for making things so easy. Disappearing acts- He disappears for days, weeks sometimes even months at a time with no contact. You blowing So for all my Pretty Hustlaz I have compiled a list of top signs him up, cussing him out and fake deleting his number, all so that you are in a situationship. Don’t ignore these signs! Lets admit it, normally situationships are with Future types This “pull up” trend drives me crazy. Guys no longer even try (I still love you Future) and not Russell’s. Lets choose wisely to pursue dating because they have become comfortable in 2019. Lets get back to dating, courting, and marriages on with women allowing them to “pull up”. Ladies stop using our timelines in addition to our businesses. the excuse “I am not hard to please I am okay with a night in cooking for my boo”. The higher you go independently the higher the check raises. If the check ain’t big enough, we ain’t talking. You can’t offer me peanuts if I’m eating steak.

Elevate everything, not just one thing, not just your car not just your jewelry, but your mindset and your spirituality and every goddamn thing. Just elevate all the way around the board.

When we decided to do a cover featuring the hottest artist out of Central Florida, your name is the main that rang bells. Tell me a little about the work that you’ve put in to attain this level. I’ve been in the game for over 10 years, getting paid for shows for the past 7 8 years. And I got over 10 solo mixtapes out in this area right now.

I heard you barely do features, what’s up with that? It’s just a lot of the features be bullsh*t and that’s not how I’m trying to rock my music. I’m protecting my brand. When I charge for a feature, the price that you’re paying is not going to substitute what I have for my brand.

It that on purpose? Yall beefing? Nah we have beefed before. It’s just a closed door now.

Do you feel like your circle is positive enough that if you were going sideways that they’ll stop you or do you feel like you’re just going to do what you want to do? It’s like a double edge sword. I’m a man at the end of the day, I still have the final decision.

Who would you allow on a feature? When you say solo mixtapes, does that mean your other Ross. works were with a group? Yea, I was in a group with a few of my partners and we have There’s an internet rumor that you were offered to sign about 5 or 6 mixtapes also. Titus Boys. with Ross. How true is that? It was a major decision because we all started off as individual artists anyways, but some events occurred and it just Speaking of the entourage, in the rap game. Is there still support for each other? Nah. I won’t push them to do what they doing but I won’t stand in their way. I just don’t want to be bothered with the situation anymore. So you’re hard-headed? (laughs) Nah I ain’t hard-headed. I’ve just been through so much if ima crash Ima crash on my own.

And have no one else to blame for it. (laughs). And as an independent artist, you’re doing fairly well for yourself. What is the secret? Is the secret to chasing a deal or to remain independent? To remain independent and chase a bigger deal. Because if you have to climb that ladder anyways, the higher you go independently the higher the check raises. If the check ain’t big enough, we ain’t talking. Last time we spoke, you were dropping Mookaveli, which was so many different tapes ago. Can you catch me up on what you’ve been up to? Since Mookaveli we dropped the 8 Millimeter, we also dropped the Helicopter Handwriting and now we’re on the King Titus 3. We’ve just been working. Tell me about the name King Titus. That Title itself is heavy, I love it. It’s deep. Well, Titus is a prophet out of the Bible that came to spread the good news. And I’m King Titus, I came to spread the good news also. And what is your message that you’re spreading? What is the news that you need us the hear? Just the lost language that we’ve been missing, about morals, values mixed with the gansta shit. What is the one thing you want them to walk away with knowing? What’s your main message? Just to elevate. Elevate everything, not just one thing, not just your car not just your jewelry, but your mindset and your spirituality and every goddamn thing. Just elevate all the way around the board. What does it feel like being an independent artist and going this hard and making that much noise. Are you good with where you at or is there something beyond that, that you’re looking for? Of course it’s more that we’re chasing, but we’re feeling good right now about the level that we’re on and the progress that we’re making.

B The Big Dawg, can you tell me about your name? I’m Lil B The Big Dawg, or B The Big Dawg. Big Dawg is a mentality. So anything you do in life, you gotta do it big. You’re from Indiana? Tell me about your part of the world. I’m located, born and raised in Indianapolis, Indiana. It ain’t no different than the next city, the next ghetto. It’s rough and we just try to do what we do to come out the struggle with this music. I’m the oldest of 3. We came up in Brookside, a neighborhood in Indianapolis. One of the poorest neighborhoods actually, so that’s where I came up at. And I’m still here. That’s my history, my breakdown. How do you feel your upbringing has shaped your music? My mom and dad broke up when I was a kid, I was 13. After he left, that was my green light to jump off the

porch and hit the ghetto and run with the thugs. Years of running the streets, doing all types of spontaneous type of shit, you learn how to survive out here and we use what we learned in the streets and just apply it to our music. That’s the difference between a real street nigga that’s a rapper and a fake ass nigga that wanna rap. We spit our lives in these songs. When did you transition from street life, that survival type of life, to music? My music has always been my outlet. Like a basketball player shoots free throws, music has always been my thing. But the last 5 or 6 years I’ve been going hard, semi-pro, doing songs with major artists, marketing myself. The rap game is pretty much like the streets are. So it was an easy transition. I’ve heard that a lot. But what do you find to be more cutthroat? The rap game or the street game? I think the rap game is more cut throat than the street game. Reason why I say that is because you can’t play by your own rules in the rap game. If things aren’t going in your favor, you have to call entertainment lawyers, and you gotta do it the legal way. In the streets, there ain’t no rules. Shit gets taken care of.

So there’s more red tape and politics. Right, but the game ain’t no different. The niggas are fake, shit cutthroat, everybody wants your money. So it was an easy transition for me to go from the street mentality to the business. Tell me about your new projects you got going on. Right now I’m just dropping things. I have hot music and hot videos out. And the way the DJs are responding to me nationwide, and overseas, they really really love it. Which I can understand, but little do they know I got so much more shit coming out. Currently right now, I’m on house arrest. I signed a plea deal, I got into some trouble. One thing that I said was I wouldn’t let my house arrest situation negatively affect my progression and music. That’s really one of my motivating factors, by me being on lockdown and still working so hard. How does being on house arrest affect your grind? It has a major influence on it because there’s a big difference from where you can just hop up and just leave and take care of shit. Even though I get permission to do certain things, after a while you just get tired of asking to do shit. I can’t just up and do something, like studio, videos, photoshoots, shows, I gotta go through somebody. But I always remind myself the situation I was in, I could be in a way worse predicament. I be giving myself a reality check, shit could be worse than what it is.

“anything you do in life, you gotta do it big.”

This is it. Rock bottom. The feelings inside right now are telling you that you’ve hit it. The emptiness, the loneliness, the aching- that’s all part of it. And you look in the mirror and wonder who the fuck is staring back at you. Because at one point you knew that person, but you don’t anymore. Everything you said you would never do or be is everything you have done and become. You have become everything you once hated. And you can see it. In every mistake. In every breath. In every moment. You have slowly crept to a place where you don’t even recognize yourself anymore. And you’re embarrassed. Embarrassed that you have let it get to this point. That you’ve let yourself get to the rock bottom your friends warned you about for months. The miniscule part of love you once felt for things is gone. You’re just not sure who

this person is. To everyone else, you have everything. You’re smart, fun, successful and have done things many people dream of. But you’re not happy. Not happy because when you look in the mirror, you know the lies. The darkness and the twistedness that lies beneath. You see the pain, the hurt, the anger that you don’t show anyone else because that would be weak. And you’re definitely good at pretending you’re not weak. Even though you know you are. You don’t have control anymore. Control of your emotions, your body, your mind. Every good feeling you once had is gone. And now what’s left is the empty. The scary empty that you’ve heard about. You’re anxious. You’re cryptic. You’re good at putting up a face. Pretending to be happy and actually being happy are two different things. And there’s no reason to not be happy. You’re relatively healthy. You have things. But it always comes back to the lonely. The unfulfilling feeling of the mundane. The struggle to remember what is real and what’s not. What you’ve been filling your head with isfantasy, and what is actually happening is the real world.

You’ve lit your path on fire and slowly, you’re watching everything burn around it. This wasn’t the way it was supposed to be. Rock bottom was never supposed to come. Living a comfortable lie was always supposed to just work for you. And it did. Everything works for a while. And it’s easy to keep going with what you know rather than confronting things that you’ve pushed down. When you try to tell people, they shrug it off. They tell you your strengths. They tell you you’re good. They tell you everything they think you need to hear, instead of actually listening to what you’re saying. It’s scary to say things out loud. To admit that you’ve hit rock bottom, and aren’t very sure where to start to dig yourself out. Digging yourself out is going to be hard, and time consuming. The negativity at the back of your mind reminds you how worthless you are and how right now, good fucking luck seeing good in anything. But slowly, you will. You’ll start to see things with color again instead of black and white. There is beauty in rock bottom, as contradictory as it sounds. The thing that sucks is that the emotions you’re feeling right now-the helplessness, the

embarrassment, the pain- they aren’tjust something you can bottle up and spray on yourself to remind you how bad this feels. Life is a cycle. There’s bad, good and ugly. The good news is that you’ve gotten through it all. You’ve gotten through your worse days. But there are times when you don’t know how you’re going to get through those feelings that hold you back from fixing the broken. All I can tell you is this, you can fix you, but sometimes sitting at rock bottom will show you things you need to learn in order to work through the pain. Rock bottom can crush you if you let it. But please don’t let it
