Letter from the editor: Issue 41. I don’t even want to call them by the Month and Year of release anymore. Issue 41!! I can’t name anything else I’ve done 41 times. But we’ve dropped an issue 41 times now and you’ve been rocking with us throughout our journey. Preciate you. It’s so fitting that this issue has a couple of articles speaking about friendships. I’ve learned a lot in regards to friendships this year. Made me realize, I got some real ones on my teams and some not so solid. Speaking of friends, shout out to this one new friend I made, never met anyone as cool as he...anyways, Love yall. - Ladychelle

Teenear TakeOver

Slip n Slide introduced one of their newest artists, Teenear, in style at the Dademall in Miami. Ford Entertainment Magazine was on hand to witness the captivating unveiling. Teenear first got on stage to tell the audience about her favorite beauty items, which included Better than Sex Mascara, NYC Matte Eyeliner and Clinique Chubby Stick. Dressed in a shirt dress branded with LOVE ME in the front and LEAVE ME on the back, the title of her new single, and rocking the most interesting pairs of heels we’ve seen this year, the veteran record label’s newest voice also introduced us to her style. With a stage presence to rival the greats, Teenear wowed the audience with a 2 track performance. Along with her with talented backup dancers, add in a captivated, engaged audience, this show was definately one to remember. And as we all know, after the show is the after party. As soon as she performed her last song, Teenear headed to the second floor of Macy’s where fans lined up for pictures and autographs with the starlett. Her set design made you feel as though you took a step in her bedroom and took a peek in her closet. That feeling of familiarity the experience left you with matched the songress and her easy going, humble, talented personality. We showed up at the show wondering if food was going to be served, but walked out a major fan of Teenear. We are excited tofollow along her journey and ready to enjoy the ride. zOMBIE I’ll be the first one to say I HATE ZOMBIES. I have a very real fear of Zombies and would most likely die in a state of shock if there was ever news of a Zombie Apocalypse. But the best way to fight fear is preparation, right? Failing to plan is planning to fail after all. Here’s LadyChelle’s personal Zombie Apocalypse Survival Guide featuring Body Painter Tena Mo’nique, owner of Razzle Dazzle Picasso and Models Brie-Like the Cheese, Lush and Jasmine Eleonor.

Being a Miami Native what was it just gave you a picture of the struggle And I feel like now I’m in the league. like to join a label you have known I’ve been going through and I’ve been Anything I did prior to now, it doesn’t gradually, every week, every month, matter. I feel like I’m a new artist all about your whole life? It felt right. I was excited about it. When Trick Daddy called and said they were interested in sitting down with me, I was excited from there. This label and its artists, it’s like they really raised me with their music and really made me want to do music. I came up at the time when we didn’t have internet so we only knew the music from our neighborhood, what we heard from our radio stations and what everybody around us was playing. In the 90s, Slip n Slide, they were the biggest thing in Miami. It was a big influence on my life and my music.I feel like it was a perfect fit. Because it molded me, and my swag, and how I think and do things. It’s a label that can understand the direction I’m tryna go with my music.

Being signed, did that take you by surprise or is that something you were working towards?

I really didn’t have any expectations. I just really was grinding, and creating a demand for my brand, and for my music. I was just out there hustling, I didn’t have any expectations as far as labels. With music the way it is now, it’s the time of entrepreneurship, and independent artists are winning more than ever so I was cool with that. Just rolling the dice on myself. Not that I was opposed to signing with somebody if it made sense. We sat down with a a lot people, from athletes to record labelsmajor labels to independent labels. We sat down with many people that just didn’t make sense. As far as my operation and the direction they were trying to go in, it all just didn’t make sense. But when Slip n Slide came and sat down, they made a lot of sense. They understood my vision.

every year, getting better and getting further and just believing in myself and putting every dime I had into my music. It paid off in the long run.

I feel like now, I’m in the league. Anything I did prior to now, it doesn’t matter. I feel like I’m a new artist all over again and I got a lot to prove to the world, to my city, and to the people who believe in me.

Have you ever wanted to give up?

I never laid down, there were times where I would think I need to chill on it, but those times didn’t last 15 minutes. I don’t know how to do anything else, I don’t know how to fix a car, cut hair, or anything else. I only know music. So I had no other options but to keep working and to keep grinding. Especially when you’re seeing results.

over again and I got a lot to prove to the world, to my city, and to the people who believe in me.

How did you celebrate the new deal?

I bought my girlfriend a car, gave my mom some money, bought some clothes and shoes, and moved into a new crib. I put myself in a situation to where I can 100% focus on music and ain’t gotta worry about how I’m gonna pay my bills and how I’m gonna get around. I set the stage for me to really put my mouthpiece in, put my chin strap on and really get in the mud. Put my hard hat on, my boots, and really get out here and really get it in. I didn’t really celebrate. I’m just really focused. I’ve been wanting this my whole life.

We know Slip n Slide to have produced legendary artists, you have some big shoes to fill. Do you feel like you’re equipped for it or do you feel like you’ll be playing catch up?

I feel like I got it, I never doubt myself with the talent. This business it’s 10% music and 90% business, so I’m just trying to get the business side part down right. But with the music, I’m ready. I’ve been doing that my whole life, I don’t know how to do anything else.

What advice would you give an artBeing signed, do you feel like “I’ve ist who’s been grinding for the last made it” or do you feel like “now 10 years, but ready to give up? the work really starts”? Don’t let anybody tell you what you

I feel like the work really starts. I feel like an athlete, who’ve been playing football his whole life. He done played peewee, played middle school, high school, then he goes to college and he balls out. He broke all kinds of records then he goes to the NFL. EvHow has this journey been for you? erything you did in high school and It’s been hard. It’s been 10 years since college doesn’t matter. Nobody cares I been grinding. When I first started about that. You’re gonna have to show grinding, I was living in my car. So that and prove when you get to the league.

can and you can’t do. A lot of people are not going to see your vision right now. If you’re not signed or not as big as some of the greats. If you truly believe in you, roll the dice on yourself and go hard. Continue to go hard. IG: MikeSmiff305 #ChaseDisMoney Available now.

Main Thug From a promise made to himself at the age of 12, to one day buy his mom a house, Main Thug has chosen music to accomplish this goal. “I felt like I was really good at expressing myself, so music made sense”. Even still, he didn’t take music seriously until about a year later, this year marking his 20th year in the game. Although he has taken breaks in between, Main is more determined than ever to see his promise fulfilled. Ford Ent Mag’s own Ladychelle sat down with the rapper, originally from Miami, FL, Little Haiti to be exact, to discuss his love for music, the passion behind his words and how he handles obstacles.

“Writing a song is the best feeling in the

world. Especially when you know you have a hit on your hands. It’s just a great feeling.” Explain your name, Main Thug. When I first heard of Bone Thugs & Harmony, I liked the whole group concept. So I formed a group, it was 4 of us, and since I was the main one, my name became Main Thug. But the group has since dismantled, leaving me as the only member left doing music. Do you listen to the beat first then write? It varies, because in the beginning when you’re an artists you don’t know producers, you just have ideas and concepts that comes to you. You just have to write them down and try to find producers as you go. But if I’m able to get a beat and write to it, it ’s even better. Because that same intensity that you have when you’re writing, you don’t lose it. There’s different aspects to music life, if you had to spend 6 months straight only doing one thing, what would you choose? Stuck in the studio for 6 months. Theres so much joy in creating. The other aspects just

comes as part of the game. And I don’t even know if I’d be able to handle all the fans because I feel like I’m just a regular dude. But the music aspect, writing a song, is the best feeling in the world. Especially when you know you have a hit on your hands.

a song about my mama.I try not to be a one dimentional artist who only talks about trap. I want to motivate people and stuff like that. I want to be versatile.

The grind is never easy, what do you do when faced with obstables?

Depends on the song. I have a song called “King of my City” that might fall under Meek Mill. I have another called “I need a Bond”, that could fall under Trick, Plies, or another Souther rapper.

It usually pauses me. For the most part, I haven’t gone over much hurdles. I’ve had a lot of obstables that ’s slowed me down. A lot of it self-inflicted. I’m a perfectionist, if I dont feel like it ’s really good then I’ma sit back and wait until the right time, which means it can take years. That means when you’re ready to come back out, its like you’re doubting yourself, thinking this is why I took a break in the first place. What is your music based off? It varies, it could be a song about the streets, could be a song about strippers, could be

If I’m listening to Pandora, who’s channel would I find you on?

Being that you started music because of a promise to buy your mom a house, once youve accomplished that, would that signify success to you? No, that ’ll be me completing a promise to my mom. Success to me, I don’t think I’ll ever meet it, because Im always gonna wanna top what I did last. www.MainThug.com

Exclusive interview of that saying “You have to spend money to make money”? Well, it is definitely true when owning your own company. When you start, you’re going to spend your own money before you actually start making money so the money isn’t a priority for me What made you want to get into the Hair because I know it’s going to come. My foSelling business? cus is building a phenomenal brand and Well, I always wanted to own my own expanding. business I knew this since I was a little girl. Food for Thought

If you had to put things in order from most important to least important with running a company what would it be? The most important to me would be having a great product to sell. No question. I know how it feels to spend your hard earned money on bad quality hair that doesn’t even last long. If your product isn’t good, your customers won’t come back and they’ll most likely tell a friend about your product so really you’re losing in the long run. The second will be customer service. Without customers, there is no business. Period. It’s been plenty of times where I’ve experienced bad customer service and that is something that people don’t forget. So when people shop with me I want them to remember my brand from the experience they’ve had. Third would be finding ways to keep low cost. The hair industry is a very competitive one. There’s a ton of people in my city (Orlando) alone that already sell hair, and I know everyone has bills, kids, and other responsibilities to take care of so I keep my prices very affordable to the average person compared to my competitors. And lastly, I would say getting a good cash flow. You ever heard

cause I know God got me.

When you make your first million off of your company how will you spend that money? Geez, my first million!! Well for sure I would buy my dad a house I owe him everything. Then maybe look to open stores in other cities, not just Orlando. I don’t just want one business I need more. I’d like to open a beauty salon one day. And also invest in property. Of course, I would buy a lot of nice things for my family and myself. But I would definitely invest that money in

Do you sell anything for females with no edges? Lack of edges is a major problem in society nowadays. No, I don’t see edge control products but I do recommend that women take care of their real hair under their weaves. Soon I will be selling frontals for women who suffer from loss of edges. What makes the hair you sell different from everybody else? My hair is a lot cheaper than everyone else’s but still, has very good quality. I’m targeting the average working woman that has other responsibilities in her life and may not be able to spend $400+ just for some hair. Is it true women spend over $500 dollars on hair weave and getting it done?? If this is true I need me a baldhead chick! Yes, this is very true. I know because I’ve done it before. Some spend way more than $500 that is why I wanted my hair to be affordable. Long, short, bald, kinky, wavy or straight hair, all women are beautiful. What’s the difference between Remy weave and a Milky Way? Let me know chicks with Milky Way hair poor. Milky way is Remy hair. This hair is usually found in local hair store. My hair is %100 virgin hair that has not been processed and can be dyed, curled and straightened.

D ISTO RT ED F RIEN D S H I P S By Brie Like The Cheese

“How many of us have mistaken friends for lovers?” As a being who happens to be extremely in tune with my sexual energy, I could raise both hands. “Yes, I have.” Let’s be honest, and take a second to gain another perspective. Some of us, like myself, need to be more mindful of how we treat those we 1st meet -- listen, I’m talking to my freaks. We should definitely exercise more self-control and discernment towards our newfound friends and souls that we just “click with”. Time and time again, I’ve met a chick that my soul meshed with. As if we came together so naturally...as though our strong connection was just meant to be. Looking back to reflect on the past has brought me to my present reality. Which is that there’s no guarantee; just because we vibe mentally, spiritually, and verbally, doesn’t mean we have to escalate into a physical romance of any sort. I mean.....basically, I’m saying that everyone we come across that we FEEL in our spirit is meant to be there for us and with us, doesn’t necessarily need to become our lover. In fact, many times it does more damage to the relationship, trying to mold it into something that it was never meant to be. Platonic friendships are a blessing that some of us even overlook, because we’re so focused on getting a piece of the pussy to satisfy our own covetous

appetites. But when we step outside of ourselves to analyze a bigger canvas, we find (later than sooner) that certain people and mates are there for growth in both individuals. Its more so a matter of growth and learning, while enjoying each other. That doesn’t have to mean enjoying each other between the covers. It could simply mean supporting and helping one another. The sexual attraction that we feel towards a friend could be just their thoughts in sync about the wild adventures of vulnerability between 2 people who feel comfortable enough to admit how they don’t want to be alone. Those energies come together in such a distorted form because sometimes, deep down in their core, they want different things. Housing different dreams in their souls. And maybe, just maybe they thought they’d lose each other somewhere down the line if they didn’t “mate” with each other. The extremely sexually open beings that I’ve seen tend to want to share everything...including DNA.

go back to that common old proverb, “some people come into your life for a reason, a season, or a lifetime...so try not to hold on too tightly.” Shit, “some people come into your life just to teach you how to let go.”

The main point I’m trying to get across on this subject is that it wouldn’t be a bad idea for some of us to really slow down and look into why we feel so compelled to jump the bones of those that make us feel so at home in their presence. Everybody ain’t lonely, so there’s no generalizing on that reason. I used to think I was something like a nymphomaniac...or sex addict. Now I believe that its just a matter of better discipline in my own personal experiences. Come on, my people with big open hearts...who love sex and delight themselves in physically pleasing others and/or being pleased themselves. Let’s stop mistaking our lessons for blessings. Let’s stop thinking that just because we feel a strong, spiritual connection with a certain someone, we have to do everything we know how I guess what we have to realize at some to hold on to them. We don’t have to point is that what brings us together cuff ‘em. Let’s just let love flow freely... doesn’t always mean it will make us learning how to just BE, in the midst of stick together for the long haul. It can great company.
