DECEMBER UPDATE 2011 Now that the semester is over, the team members have pulled their socks up and are ready to begin serious work. The first session started with a team meeting in which the goals for the upcoming season were decided. The idea of a perfect team and a perfect car was formulated and now all the members have a vivid vision in their minds.

ENGINE

VEHICLE DYNAMICS

Each subsystem is heading towards its goal for the upcoming season. All the sub teams are going through an intensive technical research phase. To begin with, the engine team is targeting on designing the exhaust system, cooling system, intake system, fuelling and the lubrication system. They hope to have a drysump lubrication system.

On the vehicle dynamics front, the preliminary design of the suspension was made. The team wants to eliminate the wheel wobble and have a light weight suspension. They are focusing on making changes in the brake lines, efficient steering and data acquisition for vehicle dynamics.

STRUCTURE

The primary concern of the structure team is to reduce the chassis weight by proper design optimization of chassis. In comparison to the last year's chassis, the team wants to reduce the weight at least by 5 kilos while meeting the technical requirements. The structure team is also looking into space optimization and better packaging of all components on the chassis.

ELECTRONICS The Electronics team aims at building a reliable electronic system, electropneumatic shifter, running display system and proper engine tuning. They are working on making an onboard data acquisition system with the help of the LABView software

MANAGEMENT

TRANSMISSION

The Transmission team is accomplishing the task of making a reliable pneumatic gear shifting, hydraulic clutch, chain tensioning mechanism and also designing of the rear axle. The team members are doing research on the half shaft manufacture and hydraulic clutch while sourcing Drexler differential and different parts.

The management team worked on designing of the Sponsorship brochure while taking care of finance as well. The team has launched its new website, www.formulamanipal.in, for updating its followers. Planning for approaching the sponsors was done, without whom the project will never reach its completion. It is bliss for Formula Manipal that the new team members are enjoying their work. We hope for a very eventful season ahead. Formula Manipal wishes all its benefactors Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year!
