For the past half century, the Founders’ Building has been at the heart of Forsyth Country Day Thousands of students have entered its doors seeking knowledge and left as accomplished young men and women prepared for fulfilling and meaningful lives and careers
As we look ahead to the next 50 years at FCDS, we want this “heart of the school” like the school itself to evoke a sense of belonging in everyone who enters it Studies show that the feeling of belonging helps young learners succeed in school and in life, because when students feel like they belong and that they are appreciated, they know they are expected to do well. That expectation and belief in their abilities motivates them to grow their skills and manifest that belief through high achievement
Forbes reports that some of the most essential skills for the future are learnability, agility, collaboration, communication, negotiation, and leadership. These "power skills" also include adaptability, problem-solving, creativity, drive, and empathy. Potential employers and colleges both report difficulty in finding these crucial abilities in both college graduates and incoming college students.
FCDS believes these in-demand essential life skills need to be developed and cultivated in all students if we are truly going to prepare students for what’s ahead.
