Throughout our lives, we cross paths with one-of-a-kind individuals who leave a lasting impression. The nostalgia of your time spent together often lingers – regardless of how long ago those initial memories were made. These individuals possess certain qualities that you want to emulate. They’re kind, supportive, passionate about their work, and have inspired you in some way.

The Stehno-Slattery Education Leadership Scholarship

Ed Stehno and Mike Slattery have been those one-of-a-kind individuals for many past students who have stepped foot on our campus. The pair was recently surprised to learn that a group of former students had created a scholarship at Fort Hays State in their honor. Four FHSU alums, Sandy Almos, Marcy Aycock, Tiffany Boxum, and Kathleen Moorman, were greatly impacted by the two former Fort Hays State professors and could think of no better way to thank them. The Stehno-Slattery Education Leadership Scholarship is an annual scholarship that will be awarded to a student pursuing a major or concentrationin FHSU’s College of Education Advanced Education program. Ed taught at FHSU from 1971 to 2014. Mikeretired in 2011 after teaching at FHSU since 1989.
