Fee assistance for off-base child care

Fee assistance for off-base child care

If you’re a Service member family at JBLM, you may qualify for child care fee assistance if you aren’t able to find available slots in JBLM’s child care programs.

The military child care fee assistance was created to provide authorized reserve and active duty personnel assistance in locating, selecting and offsetting the cost of civilian child care when on-base child care isn’t available or a viable option for the Service member and their family.

The programs available through Child Care Aware® of America provide subsidies for eligible military families enrolled in quality commercial child care programs throughout the United States.

CCAoA authorizes subsidy amounts based on total family income for eligible Service members and supplies monthly payments directly to the prospective child care provider.

The military fee assistance subsidy is the difference between what the sponsor would pay for on-base child care and the communitybased child care provider’s rate, up to a provider rate cap of $1,500 per child per month.

How to apply for a subsidy

For Army personnel, before applying to the Army Fee Assistance Program with CCAoA, new families must contact CYS Parent Central Services to see if there are child care options available on base.

If on-base care is unavailable, a statement of non-availability must be completed and signed by a Parent Central staff member. Contact Parent Central at 253-966-2977 or make an appointment at JBLMcysRegistration.com.

For Air Force personnel, contact CCAoA directly at 1-800-424-2246.
