Ages 6 and older can participate in Grandstaff Library’s free STEAM Makerspace program with science, technology, engineering, arts and math. We meet 4–5 p.m. the first Thursday of the month. Join us for Ozobots Feb. 6!

Participants can uncover interests by making, producing, solving, creating, collaborating and thinking with projects.

Read ‘Books with Bogan’

Kids can spend time reading their favorite book to a reading assistance dog at Book Patch Library’s “Books with Bogan.” Bogan’s visiting 3:30–4:30 p.m. Thursdays, Feb. 13 and 27.

By providing quiet comfort, the trained dog transforms into a supportive reading buddy and trusted friend in a safe and welcoming space.

Dream in STEAM

Calling youth who want to explore the world of science, technology, engineering, art and mathematics! Join McChord Library’s Dream in STEAM and learn how to design, build, problem-solve, create and expand your knowledge in engaging activities every other month!

This month, we meet Friday, Feb. 21 starting at 4 p.m. and enter into a world of unlimited imagination. The program is geared toward ages 8 and older (ages 6–7 also can participate with a parent or guardian).

‘Gamers Guild’ for families

Want a night out for free fun? Visit Grandstaff Library the fourth Friday of each month to play board games, cards and video games!

This month, drop in Feb. 28, 4:30–6 p.m. for fun with retro video games. No registration is needed.

It’s Rainier Elementary Month

In honor of Rainier Elementary School, we’re displaying artwork created by their students at Book Patch Library! Families can stop by and see the fantastic creations these students have shared with us — tell other family members to come see the display! Thank you, Rainier Elementary, for sharing!

Teen Filmmakers Production Crew

Youth ages 11 and older can join the McChord Teen Film Production Crew at McChord Library!

We meet Mondays at 4 p.m. to learn the art of filmmaking and creating our own independent short films step by step. Just drop in!

Create at BYOU teen girls’ club

Spend a girl-fueled power hour of creativity and awesome nosh at the Be Your Own You teen girls’ club 4–5 p.m. the first Tuesday of each month at Book Patch Library. This month, we’ll meet Feb. 4 to paint conversation rock hearts!

Build at Lego clubs

Calling all master builders! Kids ages 3 and older can get creative at JBLM libraries Lego clubs at 4 p.m. the first Friday of the month at McChord Library (Feb. 7) and the second Friday of the month (this month, it’s Thursday, Feb. 13) at Book Patch Library. We provide the Lego sets, and you provide the imagination!

Registration is required for McChord Library at JBLMlibraries.com starting one week prior, or call 253-982-3454. No registration is needed at Book Patch.

Club activities for boys & girls

Book Patch Library invites you to monthly clubs with fun activities to help build confidence, creativity and friendships 4–5 p.m.:

• SuperGirls Club meets the second Tuesday of the month. Girls ages 7–11 can join us Feb. 11 for game night!

• Mudspots & Robots Boys Club is open to boys of all ages the third Tuesday of the month. Create and reinvent with our curiosity set cubelets Feb. 18!

• Help you better learn your software. Book a one-hour session with a tech expert at McChord Library to get started! Tech help is offered Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 2 p.m. Call 253-982-3454 for more information and to make an appointment.

See what Kids’ Book Club is all about

Youth in grades 3–5 can join us at McChord Library’s monthly Kids’ Book Club the third Wednesday of the month to read fun books and meet fun people!

We’ll meet Feb. 19 at 4 p.m. to discuss “Clara Lee and the Apple Pie Dream” by Jenny Han. Check out a copy from the front desk!

Music & movement storytime

Youngsters ages 3–5 can join McChord Library the last Friday of the month for a fullbody experience while building early literacy skills and healthy bodies! This month, we’ll meet Friday, Feb. 28 starting at 10:30 a.m.

Music and Movement Story Time includes stories, singing, dancing and fun (be sure to dress in comfortable clothes).

Enjoy storytimes at Book Patch

Book Patch Library offers two weekly reading events! Come join us for:

• Kinder-Ready Storytime that meets 10:30–11:30 a.m. every Tuesday, developing essential skills to prepare children ages 3–5 for kindergarten.

• An all-ages family storytime and craft thatmeets 3:30–4:30 p.m. each Wednesday.

Join adult book clubs

Take part in Novel Navigators book club

Join the Novel Navigators book discussion group for adults that meets the second Wednesday of every month at 4:30 p.m. at McChord Library.

This month’s meeting is Feb. 12 to discuss “The Shoemaker’s Wife,” by Adriana Trigiani. A limited number of copies are available; register in person to receive a copy.

Attend Afterthought book club

Come to Grandstaff Library on the third Monday of every month for our Afterthought adult book club. We’re exploring books from all genres and discovering new books to enjoy in this all-inclusive book club.

Check out your book (ask at the front desk) and plan to join us Feb. 17, 5:30–7 p.m. in the conference room to discuss “Eat, Pray, Love” by Elizabeth Gilbert.
