It’s Hillside Huskies Month

In honor of the Hillside Huskies, we’ll display artwork created by Hillside Elementary School students at Book Patch Library! Families can stop by and see the fantastic creations these students have shared with us — tell other Family members to come see the display! Thank you, Huskies, for sharing!

Hour of Code is easy learning

Come join McChord Library the third Friday of every other month for Hour of Code™! Kids ages 8 and older learn beginner coding concepts to create their own unique projects that will stretch the imagination and provide hours of fun!

Computers will be provided Jan. 17, 4–5 p.m. No experience is necessary.

Book sale offers variety of used books

Build your home library with items from McChord Library’s used book sale! This three-day event is Jan. 21–23 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. We’ll offer books for adults, kids and teens, as well as DVDs, music CDs and more. Most items for sale will be $2 or less. Thursday is the close-out — you can buy one and get one free! Cash and credit cards are accepted.

‘Gamers Guild’ for Families

Want a night out of free fun? Visit Grandstaff Library the fourth Friday of each month to play board games, cards and video games!

This month, drop in Jan. 24, 4:30–6 p.m. for an afternoon of fun with Family games, crafts and activities. No registration is needed.

Build a birdhouse

Winter months are cold for everyone, including our feathered friends! Come to Book Patch Library Friday, Jan. 31, 4–6 p.m. to spend a fun afternoon making free birdhouse craft, helping provide a safe place for birds to build their nests, protected from the cold and predators!

Attend clubs for fun

Teen Filmmakers Production Crew

Youth ages 11 and older can join the McChord Teen Film Production Crew at McChord Library!

We meet Mondays at 4 p.m. to learn the art of filmmaking and creating our own independent short films step by step. Just drop in!

New music & movement storytime

Youngsters ages 3–5 can join McChord Library for a full-body experience while building early literacy skills and healthy bodies! We’ll meet Friday, Jan. 31 starting at 10:30 a.m.

Music and Movement Story Time meets the last Friday of the month and includes stories, singing, dancing and fun (be sure to dress in comfortable clothes).

Space is limited; registration is required and begins one week prior at JBLMlibraries.com.

Enjoy storytimes at Book Patch

Book Patch Library offers two weekly reading events! Come join us for: Kinder-Ready Storytime that meets 10:30–11:30 a.m. every Tuesday, developing essential skills to prepare children ages 3–5 for kindergarten. Also join us for an all-ages family storytime and craft that meets 3:30–4:30 p.m. each Wednesday.

Bring kiddos to McChord Library storytime

Join adult book clubs

Attend Afterthought book club

Come to Grandstaff Library the third Monday of every month for our Afterthought adult book club. We’re exploring books from all genres and discovering new books to enjoy in this allinclusive book club.

Since we’re closed Jan. 20, plan to join us Jan. 27, 5:30–7 p.m. to discuss “Legend” by Marie Lu. We’ll provide refreshments!
