Come learn the fundamentals of chess as your child learns how to play chess and become a chess master. Kids love it because it's a fun game they can play with friends, and educators love it because it stimulates young minds to engage in mathematical thinking.

Intermediate level class. Dancers will focus on more complicated footwork and technique while developing control, strength & flexibility. This class will improve dancers’ body lines, turns, and leaps. The class will learn an intermediate-level routine. Previous dance experience is required. Pointe technique is a part of the classical and contemporary ballet techniques that requires extensive training and physical strength of the dancer. Students hoping to pursue pointe work must be enrolled in two ballet classes per week, at least 11 years old and approved by instructor. Location: Studio 1 Members: $55/ Program Participant: $110

This class will start with a short prayer and devotion encouraging the YMCA character qualities. In this class, we Beginner-Intermediate level class. Dancers will focus on more will focus on basic movement and learn to “praise His name with the dancing” as it states in Pslams 149:3. Must have complicated footwork and technique while developing control, strength & flexibility. This class will improve dancers’ completed Ballet 4. Instructor Approval is needed. All Parent/Child classes are held in the Therapy Pool unless otherwise noted. Class Length: 30 minutes

For children ages 6 months through 18 months, along with parent. The objective of this class is to get both the parent and child comfortable in the water. Introduces infants and toddlers to the aquatic environment.

Ages 19 months-3 years with parent. No experience necessary. Focuses on exploring body positions, blowing bubbles, and fundamental safety and aquatic skills.

All school age swim lessons are held in the main pool unless otherwise noted. Course Length: 30 minutes

No experience necessary (Main Pool) Increases comfort with underwater exploration and introduces basic self-rescue skills performed with assistance.

Must be able to swim, float, swim 10 feet. Encourages forward movement in water and basic self-rescue skills preformed independently.

Must be able to swim, float, swim assisted 10 feet. Encourages forward movement in water and basic self-rescue skills preformed independently.

Must successfully swim, float, swim, 25 yards and complete School-Age Swim Basics 3. Introduces basic stroke technique in front crawl and reinforces water safety through treading water and elementary backstroke.

PRESCHOOL SWIM BASICS 3

SCHOOL-AGE SWIM STROKES 5

Must successfully complete Preschool swim basics 2. Must be able to swim, float, swim 5 yards. Develops intermediate self-rescue skills performed at longer distances than in previous stages.

PRESCHOOL SWIM STROKES 4

3-5 year olds. Must be able to swim, float, swim 15 yards and successfully complete Preschool Swim Basics 3 to take this class.

Must successfully swim 25 yards multiple strokes and complete School-Age Swim Strokes 4. Introduces breaststroke and butterfly and reinforces water safety through treading water and sidestroke.

SCHOOL-AGE SWIM STROKES 6

Must successfully swim 100 yards multiple strokes and complete School-Age Swim Strokes 5. Refines stroke technique on all major competitive strokes and encourages swimming as part of a healthy lifestyle.

AQUATICS SPECIALITY CLASSES

50 OR 100 MILE CLUB

COMPETITIVE SWIM CLASS (AGES 11-14)

Program to reach 50 or 100 miles in a year. Log your miles in the binder located in the lap pool. Anyone who reaches 50 or 100 miles will receive a Gift.

Must complete School-Age Swim Strokes 6 and know all strokes. Work on refinement of skills in all strokes. Will also focus on turns, starts, sets, and endurance; Held in the main pool. Members: $50/ Program Participant: $110 Monday Saturday

LAP SWIM INTERMEDIATE LAP SWIMMING (AGES 16 +)

Designed for the previous beginning lap swimmer or anyone with the ability to swim at least a few lengths of the pool using some form of freestyle. The emphasis will be on perfecting freestyle and backstroke technique, including coordinating breathing and arm stroke timing. Endurance and cardiovascular strengthening will be achieved by the use of drills with limited interval training. NOT recommended for new or very weak swimmers. Members: $65 Tuesday/ Thursday

ADVANCED LAP SWIMMING

This class is designed for the previous intermediate lap swimmer or triathlete. Emphasis on swimming conditioning—building endurance using proper technique for multiple strokes. Interval training advanced swimming drills and some sprint work will be incorporated into the workout. (Main pool) Members: $65 Tuesday/ Thursday

BEGINNERS PICKLEBALL CLINIC (AGES 18+)

AGES 3-4: Practice/play format: players learn, develop and practice basic skills first, and then immediately afterward play and apply those skills in the second part of program during a game! Program will be at the Fort Meigs Y. Participants receive a YMCA t-shirt. 60-minute Saturday-only program.

Learn the paddleball sports that combines elements of tennis, badminton, and table tennis. Come develop the skills in an environment that emphasizes good sportsmanship, teamwork, cooperative play and a love of the game! This is a beginning pickleball class. We will focus on developing basic skills and implementing them into game situations. 8 week session.
