“It’s very exciting,” says Tim, who has a very busy book publishing schedule ahead. “Carolyn, who was told about me by a friend who lives in England, then contacted me. We both agreed it was too good an opportunity to miss. Carolyn is a hugely talented writer and I have thoroughly enjoyed reading and editing her short stories.” What If? by Carolyn Thrum from Sydney has been published by Tim Saunders Publications and features a lively and engaging collection of 14 of Carolyn’s best short stories. They cover various subjects from sentimentality to loyalty and the challenges presented by old age. But Carolyn also considers darker aspects of human nature; fear and greed while also bravely exploring the damage caused by abuse and how it can tear a family apart. Born in the beautiful Blue Mountains, two hours west of Sydney, Carolyn has lived in the city most of her life. She is a member of Writers NSW. Separately, one of Carolyn’s stories will also be published in Hope for Ukraine, scheduled for publication later in the year by Tim Saunders Publications. “For this exciting book I am looking for writing that celebrates freedom and hope and 100 per cent of the royalties will go to the Sunflower of Peace Foundation (sunflowerofpeace.com.), a non-profit organization committed to helping Ukrainians affected by the Russian military invasion,” says Tim.
Readers are invited to submit their unpublished poetry (no more than 30 lines) and short stories (no more than 1,000 words) on the subjects of freedom and hope to tsaunderspubs@gmail.com. The deadline is June 1.
What If? by Carolyn Thrum is available as an ebook and paperback from amazon.com.au. For more information about Tim Saunders Publications visit: http://tasaunders.weebly.com/tim-saunderspublications.html
Hampshire Astronomical Group welcome you!
The Hampshire Astronomical Group operating from its Clanfield Observatory base on the borders of the villages of Horndean and Clanfield is reputed to be one of the best equipped amateur observatories in the UK. Our observatory is situated on the edge of beautiful South Downs National Park. Like so many other organisations over the past 18 months we too have had to curtail our activities. However, as the lockdown nationally is easing so we are beginning to open the observatory to more activities.
We are hoping that we can begin resuming our very popular Open Evenings for the general public in the autumn and also take private visits for Guides, Scouts U3A and other interested groups etc.. Please keep an eye on this website for further information regarding these open events. The very popular astronomy course will resume as from September this year – more details can be found on our website under ‘Astronomy courses’ and then click ‘Astronomy for Beginners Course’. If the September course is oversubscribed (as is often the case) there will be another course starting in January of 2022.
We are hoping to have access to the Clanfield Memorial Hall later this year and our monthly public speakers’ session can be given ‘live’. Currently all speakers both Group members talks and the monthly main public lectures are given via Zoom. For access to these talks, please contact Lindy Bryant at lindy.bryant@hantsastro.org.uk
If you have any queries, please do not hesitate to contact us via the ‘Contact Information’ page on our website: www.hantsastro.org.uk

We will welcome guest speakers and Titanic experts on board. On our return to berth get close to the departing cruise ships Celebrity Silhouette and MSC Magnifica, always the cue to sound our whistle and play the 'Shieldhall Organ'! Hat Fair is the UK’s longest continually running festival of outdoor arts. Founded in 1974 by Jonathan Kay, Hat Fair inspires and is inspired by the people, heritage and public spaces within the city of Winchester. The aim is to shine a light on the city, transforming the everyday into the extraordinary Initially conceived as a busking festival, Hat Fair takes its name from the tradition of the audience showing their appreciation by putting money in the hat at the end of the show. This year's Hat Fair runs from Friday 2nd to Sunday 4th July 2021. Three days of entertainment featuring theatre, dance and circus events!
Friday & Saturday the festival takes place throughout Winchester city centre.
In a change to previous years the Hat Fair Festival will be a ticketed event! For more info and to see what's on at this year's festival see the festival website.
