It’s that time of the year again when we can all look forward to Heritage Open Days and a chance to discover the history right on our doorstep, all for free. This year sees the welcome return of some festival favourites in addition to events which are brand new. Many of them you can just turn up to, but some events require booking in advance. Look out for the Astounding Invention events celebrating this year’s national theme.

Join us again as we journey behind closed doors and share tales of the past through walks, talks, exhibitions, performances, workshops and tours. Now in its seventh year, Winchester Heritage Open Days is shaping up to be fantastic festival, with over eighty events taking place in Winchester and the surrounding area.

Many events you will be able to just turn up to on the day, but others will need to be booked in advance through our online box office.

The Romsey Show is back with an action packed day– Saturday 10th September!

The Romsey Show organisers, The Romsey Agricultural and Horse Show Society, are pleased to announce that the Romsey Show is back this year on Saturday 10th September at Broadlands Park in Romsey. The Show has a new location within the park, with easier access for visitors from Romsey. Run by a large team of dedicated volunteers, it is a fantastic day out for all the family!

The Sheep Show will be at the Show with their humorous live display, introducing us to nine different breeds of sheep, each with their own story to tell! Attractions across the Showground also include the popular Countryside Area with ‘have a go’ opportunities, livestock and equine classes, vintage machinery and the interactive mobile farm. Stroke a goat, learn more about reptiles and bring your dog to take part in the family dog show. The Food Zone offers a range of local produce as well as the Kids Kitchen, Honey tent and Skills Kitchen. Enjoy your picnic in the area whilst listening to live performances from Beggars Fair acts. The show is open from 8am to 6pm, and tickets are on sale now at www.romseyshow.co.uk with discounted rates. Children 11 years and under are free and there is also plenty of free parking.
