A Meeting for the Architects of Solidarity

At the conclusion of the European Forum Alpbach 2015, 100 mayors looked for common solutions to the asylum accommodation crisis. In a participative and moderated process, they exchanged know-how and ideas about the admission of refugees. The aim was and is to convince more communities to provide those seeking protection with accommodation and to gather the relevant information together.

Participative Process Stimulates Knowledge and Ideas

The European Forum Alpbach organised the room and agenda of the meeting. The interactive atmosphere, initiated by a moderation team and continued by the mayors, together with the input of successful communities and a series of experts, brought an abundance of relevant knowledge to light.

Open Handbook for Communities and Interested Parties

The collected knowledge and information as well as the experiences of successful communities can be read and shared online in a 60-page “Handbook for Communities as an open Word document (in English soon): www.alpbach.org/buergermeister

Specialist Knowledge from Experts

Numerous experts from various NGOs and organisations dealing intensively with the admission of refugees contributed their specialist knowledge. Their input is also available in the Handbook at www.alpbach.org/buergermeister

Constructive Storytelling: Refugees in Communities

Several mayors recounted in their own words how they succeeded in admitting refugees in their communities. The extensive video interviews can be found online at www.alpbach.org/buergermeister
