Insect is a mixed-use structure that houses residences and social areas and that contributes to keeping the connection with the neighborhood. The formation of the building began by designing the gaps.First, the space outside the building was designed.Later the inside space was designed. There is a large gap at the center of the building, which is surrounded by glass. This gap is defined by red glass inside.
The wide clearance required to create this large gap was provided by steel carriers. Around the building, 30x30 steel columns with square profiles are used in the areas where no space is formed. At the inner sides, a carrier system has been created by using inclined round columns, which will be suitable for the slope of the void. The glass structure, which creates an amorphous shape inside, is able to turn into sitting surfaces.
The amorphous surface, that’s defined as a space inside the structure, is defined as occupancy when it goes outside the structure. These amorphous surfaces form the entrance on the front and the winter garden at the back. The gap also reaches two different points, leaving an opening on the roof. These openings create semi open space and provide air circulation inside.

Folding Glass Roof Thermal ınsulation Trapezoidal profile metal sheets
There is an opening on the roof that provides air circulation and gets sunlight for the interior. This opening is designed to be opened and closed in accordance with different weather conditions.Openable roof system is placed on the roof between the two beams and this system is able to be both opened and closed by being folded.Due to the fact that the part that is closed is glass, sunlight is got inside even when it is closed as well.

Electrochromic Glass A special glass was used for the glazed part that’s defining the gap. Electrochromic glass whose opacity level is adjusted thanks to its special system. A low voltage is required only briefly to switch the glass to and from opaque. The electrons react with the other chemicals in the layer thereby for making the glass opaque. So the users of the space can create their own space whenever they want. Polyner 1m
