These include beer festivals in Germany and the Czech Republic such as the Oktoberfest, the Hamburg DOM and other lesser-known but equally fantastic festivals; Christmas Markets, offering the best of festive treats and magical experiences for families, friends and couples alike; European theme parks for families seeking thrilling rides and shows and NEW for 2015, a selection of F1 Grand Prix Holidays!

F1 Grand Prix Holidays Sporting fans will love our selection of exhilarating short breaks to Germany, Belgium, Austria and Hungary. Each featuring three night stays in the heart of the city, including flights and airport transfers; our F1 Grand Prix holidays also include seated tickets for Race Day. We can also add on additional nights and extend your tickets to include practice and qualifying days too – just ask at the time of booking.

With the majority of our hotel stays including bed & breakfast as standard we have packaged these to include flights or rail (2nd Class) from London. Alternative departure airports or stations can be arrange on request. Our ‘lead-in’ price, highlighted at the top of each page, is based on our ‘best value’ 3* hotel, however we also feature a selection of 4* and 5* hotels at the bottom of the page in order to tailor your perfect holiday. Pricing and Availability

Public Transport

The prices shown should be used as a guideline only and are subject to change and availability. These are usually affected by flight prices rather than the hotel stay itself. By booking early you will have a wider choice of available flights, rail services and hotels to choose from. We will advise you of the price at the time of booking and can guarantee that there will be no hidden extras.

If you do wish to make your way to your hotel via public transport, you will be glad to know that many European airports and Rail stations are served by city-link train or bus services, where often, you can be in the heart of the city within an hour of stepping off the plane.

Transfers Local transfers from the airport are not usually included within our holidays however we can offer a private transfer from the airport to your hotel and vice-versa. These are usually more expensive than a local taxi however offer the advantage of not having to wait for public transport and, as the cost is pre-determined, there is no need to negotiate with local taxi drivers or worry about any additional supplements that could occur. If you do decide to book a private transfer, you would be met at the airport by the taxi driver holding a sign with your name and then transferred directly to your hotel. As an idea of cost, a one way private transfer from Rome (Fiumicino) currently costs approximately £50 per car, or £37 per car from Vienna. If a city does not have an airport we would normally include a rail transfer to the city centre from the nearest main airport e.g. Heidelberg. If this applies to you we will advise at the time of booking.

Flights & Rail & Road The popularity and close proximity of Europe to the UK means that there is more choice than ever before regarding how to get to your destination, with both direct and in-direct flights; rail routes and excellent road connections meaning you wonâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;t have long to wait to start your holiday!

Fred.\ Holidays is ATOL bonded and can offer both scheduled and low cost carriers at the best possible price, with the guarantee that you are financially protected. At the time of booking, we will advise as to whether we need to issue the air ticket in order to get the best price - this will be part of the deposit paid. We will also advise you of your baggage allowance for the flight. Scheduled services normally offer a free snack and a free drink. Most carriers will charge an additional fee for a preferred seat reservation. Most airlines operate an e-ticket system where your reservation number is sufficient to check in (low cost carriers usually require a printed boarding pass). We do, however, print out your airline documentation for you if we have all your necessary passport details.

Continental Europe offers an unrivalled network of railways with awe-inspiring scenic routes, a number of steam and cog railways and a variety of rail cards that offer national or regional travel at a reasonable rate. A fast and efficient alternative to air travel, Rail also allows you to relax and enjoy the passing countryside along the way!

Flight Schedules Airline schedules are subject to change, but we will advise you of any changes to your itinerary of over one hour. We would recommend that due to heightened security measures that you check in at least two hours prior to your departure.

Eurostar offers great connections from the UK to cities such as Brussels, Lille or Paris. Thalys trains, ICE and TGV offer a very comfortable service to continue on your journey to your final destination. We will reserve seats wherever possible and are happy to tailor-make any holiday with rail requirements.

Eurostar For anybody living within easy reach of London St. Pancras, Ebbsfleet or Ashford in Kent, the Eurostar is the fastest and most efficient alternative to air travel travelling at speeds of up to 300 km/h (186mph). Eurostar does offer seat selection at the time of booking. Standard class passengers can purchase a variety of food and drinks from the on board buffet. Standard premier passengers have extra-spacious comfortable seats and are served a light meal and drink at their seat. Complimentary magazines are also available on board. Travellers electing Business Premier have access to the Exclusive lounge and full at-seat meal service and drinks. Prices are available on request. First class rail normally means wider seats, more legroom and more spacious travel. We can quote the supplement just for one segment or for the whole journey.

Multi-destination trips Rail holidays including accommodation can be tailor-made to match your specific requirements and they are not solely limited to destinations in the brochure. For example, we can offer a trip to Bordeaux or Amsterdam and onto Madrid or Sylt, as well as many other European destinations. We can also offer stopover hotels near to the railway stations enabling a quick and easy connection from train to hotel. Fred.\ Says: Please contact us for your personalised rail tailor-made quote. We can also quote for National Rail Passes if you are spending a number of days in the country!

Sleeping Cars If you cannot reach your destination comfortably within a day we would recommend either a break in your journey or using one of the many Night Sleepers that operate in Europe. Sleeper types vary but usually your compartment is made up of comfortable beds, washbasin and room service. These compartments are segregated by sex unless your group take the whole compartment. Couchettes offer a cheaper alternative. These are usually made of six bunks and are provided with sheet, blanket and pillow. Washing and toilet facilities are found at the end of each carriage. City Night Line trains are usually air conditioned and offer a relaxing way to start your holiday.

Reservations We reserve seats where possible and will try to ensure that your specific requests are fulfilled although this cannot be guaranteed. Certain local trains cannot be reserved. On certain trains the reservation and the ticket is on the same coupon and these must be reserved before travel, e.g Thalys. It is essential to have reservations on the special scenic Swiss trains e.g the GoldenPass Line or Glacier Express. Please note, rail holidays may not be suitable for people with mobility difficulties. Getting on and off trains with luggage, often in a short time, can sometimes be a problem due to steep steps between the platform and the train. If you are considering a rail holiday and have any mobility issues, please call our Reservations Team for advice.

Travel Europe by car – the ultimate freedom holiday If you fancy full flexibility why not take a motoring holiday or rent a car from the airport? We can offer all major ferry/tunnel crossings and all our holidays can be booked as a self-drive. Fred.\ Says: Our car hire offers any day travel using the excellent road and motorway network and we offer very competitive car hire rates covering third party or comprehensive rates. Driving in Europe is a breeze; fantastic road networks, excellent signage and fewer cars on the road than here in the UK means that getting to your destination by car, or embarking on a self-drive tour of the continent is a real possibility. There are several ways to get across to the Continent. The Eurotunnel between Folkestone and Calais is the quickest route. A frequent service, with a transit time of only 35 minutes, allows a quick and easy getaway to mainland Europe. P&O Ferries offer Dover to Calais with numerous crossings, and with a journey time of around 75 minutes it allows a more leisurely way of channel crossing. P&O Ferries also offer the Hull to Rotterdam and Hull to Zeebrugge sailings. The ‘Northern Gateway’ is more than just a means of transportation but an integral part of the holiday offering comfortable cabins, restaurants, bars and live entertainment. Stena Line offer Superferries on the Harwich to Hook of Holland line. Fred.\ Tip: For an especially picturesque holiday, make use of the scenic routes in the mountains or at the side of the rivers.

24 hours in Salzburg Enjoy an early morning start with breakfast at the Café Bazar to take in the views of Salzburg while it’s quiet. Then, embark on the fantastic ‘Sound of Music’ tour – it was 50 years ago that the film set in the mountains of Austria was released. The tour will last four hours and offers some amazing views as you would expect. On your return to Salzburg have a coffee and cake in Café Tomaselli, before heading up to Hohensalzburg Fortress. History The Croats arrived in what is today called Croatia during the 7th century. Croatia was first declared a kingdom in the 10th century and from the 12th century it was still ruled by parliament, but took orders from Hungary and Austria. The reign of King Robert was followed by that of Louis the Great (13421382) a time that was considered the ‘golden age’ of Croatian medieval history. The 15th century marked the start of bitter struggles with the Ottoman Empire that raged until the 17th century. By the end of the First World War, Croatia and Slavonia (a region of Croatia) became a part of the ‘State of Slovenes’, with a transitional government based in Zagreb. In 1945 the country went through massive changes. Its ability and desire to embrace industrialisation and build its economy was the basis for the development of its tourist industry. In 1992 Croatia regained independence from Yugoslavia and on November 6th 1996, became a member of the Council of Europe. It was granted EU applicant status on June 18th, 2004. It became the 28th member of the EU in 2013.

Food and Drink Olive oil is an integral part of Croatian cooking. For generations it has been used to roast and grill fish. A cooking method using Dalmatian olive oil is traditionally known as Gradelavanje, which generates a unique flavour. Roasted lamb and grilled pork are also common. The reputation of Croatian wine is growing rapidly. Their special flavours are a result of the warm conditions in the south of the country. Ploce Gate: The eastern entrance to the Old Town, this gate stems from the 15th century.

Dubrovnik truly is a stunning city with its amazing Old Town, which became a UNESCO World Hertage site in 1979 and is the setting for Kings Landing on popular cult TV show ‘Game of Thrones’. But whatever we and others say, our words will never be able to do this fantastic destination justice, so you will have to come and see it for yourself!

Franciscan Monastery: The monastery contains what is thought to be the oldest pharmacy/apothecary in Europe, from 1316/7. Cathedral: Designed by Roman architect Andrea Buffalini, the current cathedral was built to replace the original 12th century cathedral which was destroyed by an earthquake. Another earthquake in 1979 resulted in the need to dig drains beneath the cathedral; these excavations uncovered a Romanesque cathedral beneath the current one. Further digging, uncovered another church underneath this one, dating from about the 6th century!

Walk the City Walls: Originally constructed in the 10th century, although fortified considerably in 1453, the walls are 3m thick along the sea wall, and 6m thick inland. Walk the 1.9km distance around the Old Town to enjoy Dubrovnik from all angles – from the crystal clear Adriatic Sea on one side, to the terracotta rooftops on the other. Dubrovnik Cable Car: Take the cable car, which rises up to the top of Mount Srd above the city, giving you some spectacular views of the Old Town and the shoreline. The cable car was completely destroyed during the war in the early 1990s and was only repaired in 2010! Also at the top of Mount Srd, and also newly opened, is the Museum of the Croatian War of Independence which, through its various exhibits, shows how Dubrovnik defended itself during the 1991-95 war.

The Old Town with its many sights, including the wellpreserved city walls along which you can walk, is without a doubt the main attraction. However there is plenty to do both inside and outside the city walls. The clear-blue seas surrounding Dubrovnik are perfect for a spot of Kayaking or a trip on a day boat to view the city from a different perspective. Slightly further afield, you can sample some local wines on a vineyard tour, and if you are visiting in the summer, do not miss the world-renowned Dubrovnik Summer Festival. When it comes to shopping, the Old Town once again is the place to be; though most of it is firmly geared towards the bountiful tourist trade with prices to match. A number of small shops hug the Stradun, but the warren of streets that break north and south from this thoroughfare offer more variety, and often cheaper prices.

Gunduličeva Poljana: Visit the daily open-air market which mainly stocks fresh fruits and vegetables, but sometimes handmade lace and other unique souvenirs such as gold and silver jewellery, homemade honey and wooden handicrafts.

Where to eat and drink Kamenice Restaurant: Restaurants in Dubrovnik don't come any more cheap and cheerful than this busy little place on Gunduličeva Poljana. The name means 'oyster' and oysters here are very good value, while the seafood risotto comes in generous portions. Lokanda Peskarija: Outside tables overlooking the old harbour make Lokanda Peskarija one of the most popular restaurants in Dubrovnik.

Cathedral of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary: The grace and beauty of this Herman Bollé masterpiece shines as a symbol of Zagreb, but don’t be alarmed if its twin spires are covered in scaffolding at the time you visit, it is continuously being restored.

Golden Gate: The Golden Gate was once the starting point for the road to Solin. From the fragments that remain, it's possible to visualise the statues, columns and arches that once decorated the gate.

Trg Jelacica: The boundary between the Upper and Lower towns, pronounced yell-atch-itsa, is Zagreb's central square and meeting place. All roads and trams seem to lead there so you are sure to end up there at one point – it is dominated by a statue of Croat hero Josip Jelacic in the centre.

Arheološki Muzej (Archaeological Museum): North of the town centre, the Archaeological Museum is well worth a visit. Exhibits are devoted to burial sculpture and excavations at Salona, with an emphasis on the Roman and early Christian period.

This 2,000+ year old city manages to combine the modern and ancient with ease. The Roman Theatres at Fourvière, first started in 43BC, are symbolic of the history of the city. The Oktoberfest is one of the most famous festivals in the world. With a massive funfair surrounding the festival a splendid time is guaranteed for all. It was commissioned by the Free State of Bavaria and explores the use of the Obersalzberg mountain retreat by the Nazi party. Mount Jenner cable car: Travel up to the highest gateway of the Berchtesgaden National Park where you will find over a dozen hiking trails with the most stunning views over the German Alps. Salt Mines: Berchtesgaden was once a major producer of the ‘white gold’ and now you can visit the salt mines. The highlights include the crossing of a 100m-long illuminated lake and the special train taking you into the depths of the mine.

Day 1 - London to Königswinter: Travel from London to Königswinter via Brussels and Cologne as you relax in your carriage. Look out for the magnificent Cathedral as you pass by Cologne! Day 2 and Day 3 – Königswinter: Königswinter is an ideal location to explore the Rhine as it is served by rail, buses, and ships for day trips along the Rhine. The Drachenfels Railway in town will take you via cog railway to the top of the mountain where you can enjoy spectacular views over the river. Then, walk back down the mountain and enjoy the Schloss Drachenfells, a beautiful neo-gothic building, and the nearby reptile zoo. There is now a cable car that will take you to the fortress where you can enjoy great views of the Town. Day 4 – Königswinter to Trier: Following the Rhine and Moselle, your next port of call takes you to Trier, Germany’s oldest city. There were settlements in the Trier valley as early as the 3rd century BC and Trier was the first ‘town’ north of the Alps to bear that label with justification. It is a fascinating travel destination with historical monuments, churches and Roman backdrops which will make any visit to this romantic Moselle city an unforgettable experience.

Mountains are peaceful vineyards, where the Celts and Romans cultivated their vines 2,000 years ago, and the beautiful Moselle Valley is a particularly desirable travel destination for those seeking rest and relaxation. Days 5 & 6 – Trier: Spend the day at leisure in Trier. If you fancy a day trip, Cochem is only 40 minutes away. Gewandhaus concert hall: With its world famous orchestra, the concert hall has been a symbol of the city for over 250 years. The Gewandhaus Music Director is the internationally renowned Italian conductor Riccardo Chailly.

Bach, Mendelssohn, Schumann, Goethe or Schiller – the names of innumerable great personalities are closely linked with Leipzig. Thousands of music lovers travel to the city every year to walk in the footsteps of famous composers. The concerts of the Gewandhaus Orchestra or the St. Thomas Boys’ Choir are musical highlights and veritable magnets for visitors. Yet Leipzig has even more to offer: a multifaceted cultural life, diverse museums and galleries, and a high density of pubs and history at every turn. After all this Saxon city, rich in tradition, can look back on a long history of 1,000 years during which much has taken place, including the Peaceful Revolution in the autumn of 1989 an important milestone on the way to the fall of the Berlin Wall and the German reunification.

St. Nicholas Church: This contains Saxony’s biggest church organ. None other than Johann Sebastian Bach was inducted into his post as the Leipzig’s director of music at St. Nicholas Church. The church became famous due to the prayers for peace which have taken place here every Monday since 1982, and which were the starting point for the Peaceful Revolution of 1989. The church is a symbol of the German Reunification, and is now well-known around the world.

Things to do St Thomas Boys’ Choir: Every Friday evening and Saturday afternoon you can listen to the famous Boys’ Choir at St Thomas’ Church. Leipzig Zoo: Within easy reach of the city centre this is one of the best zoos in Europe. ‘Gondwanaland’ allows you to see 90 exotic animal species and 500 different plant and animal species.

Where to eat and drink Coffeehouses: Leipzig and coffee go hand in hand. The city’s medieval old town is enclosed by an ancient city wall and overlooked by the towering Kaiserburg Castle. One of the most fortified imperial palaces of the Holy Roman Empire, a large part of its thousand year history can be seen and experienced. Gothic churches, splendid patricians’ houses, historic sights and some of Germany’s most important museums are situated throughout the town. Nuremberg boasts a unique atmosphere created by a blend of medieval and modern elements with the Documentation Centre (Dokuzentrum), the Court Rooms and the rally grounds providing a reminder of a darker age. St Lorenz Church: See the ‘Angelic Salutation’ dating back to the sixteenth century, at St Lorenz, a medieval church badly damaged during the war and later restored. Schöner Brunnen (The Beautiful Fountain): The figures on the fountain represent the world-view of the Holy Roman Empire. The two brass rings embedded surrounding fence are said to bring good luck to those who spin them. Albrecht Dürer House: A massive half-timbered house built in 1420. It was the living and working quarters of this famous painter.

Things to do Museums: Nuremberg is the ‘city of museums’ with the most famous being the Toy Museum and the Documentation Centre. Others are of a more unusual nature such as the Amber Museum, Hospital Museum, Fire Brigade Museum, Brömme Hat Museum, Wheat Beer Glass Museum and the Pigeon Museum (containing over 4,000 pigeon-related porcelain figures!).

First settled in the Iron Age, the Balaton region has been a recreation spot since at least Roman times. From the 18th century onward, the upper classes erected spas and villas along the shoreline of the Lake yet not until the post-World War II Communist era did the lake open up to a wider tourist base.

Pecs Another Hungarian city well worth a visit. A neo-romantic cathedral, the Mosque of Pascha Gázi Kassim (a souvenir from the Turkish occupation) and the City Walls are points of interest. The theatre and the post office are also must-sees. The world famous painter Victor Vasarely, born in Pécs, donated many of his paintings to the city, which can be seen in the Vasarely Museum.

As the highest mountain railway in the Alps, the Bernina Express connects the towering glaciers of the mountains to the palm-shaded towns of sunny Italy. Spanning from the Swiss region of Graubunden to Tirano in the Italian Veltlin, this spectacular railway line co-exists in perfect harmony with its majestic mountain setting. Running for 122km, passing through 55 tunnels and crossing 196 bridges and viaducts, the Bernina Express line is a masterpiece of engineering. It is little wonder that its unity with the surrounding landscape was listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2008.

Day 1 - Zurich: Fly from London to Zurich for your onward rail journey to Davos. Days 2 & 3 - Davos: The famous Alpine resort of Davos is both a natural paradise and a cosmopolitan holiday town. The area around Davos is superb walking country and the many mountain railways which travel to the top of the surrounding peaks make it a fantastic destination for lovers of the ‘great outdoors’. Day 1 - Zurich: Fly from London to Zurich for your onward journey to Lucerne by train.

This attractive route with breath-taking panoramic views takes you from Central Switzerland to Lake Geneva. Your journey starts in the historic Lucerne region on to the beautiful alpine scenery of the Bernese Oberland. Past green meadows, crystal clear lakes and typical chalet style mountain villages you will reach the famous holiday resort of Gstaad. From here, you travel over the 'Golden Pass’ before the journey takes you down to the idyllic shores of Lake Geneva with its beautiful terraced vineyards.

Day 2 - Lucerne: The beautiful city of Lucerne offers a stunning lakeside location and mountain scenery with a diverse choice of attractions and activities. Day 4 - Zweisimmen & Montreux: After leaving Interlaken, the train line runs along Lake Thun before heading into the mountains. After passing through a narrow gorge, the journey continues through the Simmen Valley before stopping at Zweisimmen where you will change trains. After a short stop, you will head towards the chalet-style village of Gstaad, a popular resort for the rich and famous. The train then continues to Saanen and Chateau-d’Oeux before descending through a tunnel. Shortly after emerging from the tunnel, the fabulous view opens up onto Lake Geneva before arriving at your final destination, Montreux. The Škocjan Caves, 50 minutes south west of the city, have been carved out of limestone by the underground Reka River over thousands of years. The city itself is reminiscent of an open-air museum, showcasing architecture and design from various stages of its history. Its oldest architecture has been preserved from the Roman period, however its old town was shaped in the Middle Ages. Many of its downtown buildings were destroyed in an earthquake in 1511, and were rebuilt in the Baroque style, as was common in Italy, particularly Venice, at that time. Another earthquake in 1895, meant that Ljubljana was partially rebuilt once again, this time in Vienna Secession style which you can see contrasting with the former baroque buildings that still remain today.

German Grand Prix – 17th to 19th July 2015 Hockenheim

The story of the Austrian Grand Prix begins, as with most Grand Prixs, with a local group of motor racing enthusiasts creating an L-shaped circuit with cones and hay bales in the town of Zeltweg. The first race held for international sports cars was in 1958 and was won by Wolfgang von Trips in a Porsche. Moving forward 2014 saw Nico Rosberg take the chequered flag for Mercedes.

Germany has a long history of hosting motor racing events, with the first sports car race held in 1926. The country joined the F1 World Championship in its second year,1951 after a period following WWII when Germany was banned from hosting international events. The race has a bit of a chequered past with track changes, accidents and disputes over the name ‘German Grand Prix’ marring its success over the years. From 2007 the race calendar stabilised somewhat and now, the annual race is one of the most hotly-anticipated of the F1 calendar.

Belgium's Spa-Francorchamps circuit is among the most historic on the Formula One calendar, having hosted a (non-championship) Grand Prix as long ago as 1924. Oktoberfest 2015 Dates: 19th September – 4th October The first so-called ‘Oktoberfest’ took place in 1810 for the wedding of Crown Prince Ludwig and Princess Therese who decided to hold a big horse race in a meadow just outside the city-walls for the town’s inhabitants. The event was such a success that the next year, the royal court decided to repeat the festival - much to the great delight of Munich’s residents. From year to year the Oktoberfest grew bigger and bigger and eventually became the spectacular event that it is today. The festivities take place in vast marquees hosted by various Munich breweries, each seating several thousand people. Enjoy the colour and excitement of the giant funfair outside the tents, which combines traditional attractions such as big dippers, Ferris wheels and roller-coasters with the very latest high-tech white-knuckle rides. The Cannstatter Wasen is the second largest beer festival in Germany after the Munich Beer Festival. Its popularity increases every year as more people from all over the world come to visit. On the first weekend in August the longest beer garden in the world opens its doors in the heart of Germany’s capital. 2015 sees it welcome visitors for the 19th time. More than 300 breweries from 86 countries will offer around 2,000 beer specialities in all their diversity. Organisers now offer a mini-stein so that you can taste a bigger selection of the many beers available.

At the Schützenfest visitors can expect a colourful assortment of shooting sports, fairground rides, lots of tasty delicacies from a range of around 80 various gastronomic facilities, and a fantastic line-up of lively entertainment events. The highlight of this funfair is the ‘Marksmen’s Parade’ with more than 10,000 participants from Germany and all over the world.

Freimarkt - Bremen Festival 2015 Dates: 16th October - 1st November ‘Ischa Freimarkt!’ (It is Freimarkt) say the Bremer inhabitants when their ‘fifth season’ starts in Autumn. The third largest folk festival, Bremen is one of Germany’s oldest festivals and regularly draws over four million people to the Bürgerweide, just minutes from the historic city centre. The Freimarkt claims to have more rides than any other festival. Whilst not a beer festival in the true sense, there is enough German beer here to justify its inclusion. Traditional foods are also served, with fish been one of the main dishes.

Nuremberg

Cologne Cologne has eight themed markets. The Christmas market at the cathedral is perhaps the most beautiful with stalls arranged under a sparkling star-lit tent in front of this historic backdrop. The rustic Christmas market ‘Heimat der Heinzel’, Cologne’s largest and most traditional Christmas market, is located in the heart of the old town. On the Rudolfplatz you can discover Santa’s Village and just a few metres away, you’ll encounter the gay and lesbian 'Christmas Avenue'. On the Neumarkt you will find the captivating ‘Angel’s Market’ and right in front of the Chocolate museum you can browse through the “Harbour Christmas market”. Nuremberg remains one of the most popular and authentic Christmas markets. More than 180 festivelydecorated market stands invite you to enjoy traditional Christmas ornaments of all shapes and sizes including the local gold-foil angel, “Zwetschgenmännle” made of prunes; toys and games; and delicious holiday treats to eat and drink. Is my holiday safe and covered? Fred.\ Holidays is ATOL protected by the Civil Aviation Authority. Our ATOL number is 0944. Fred.\ Holidays is also a member of the ABTA Travel Association, which means assurance, choice, value, and high levels of service.

Who do I contact for general enquiries about my booking? For general enquiries, including seating, baggage and meal requests, cancellations and amendment queries, please email sales@ fredholidays.co.uk clearly stating your booking reference, name and your date of departure in the subject line or call us on 0808 115 6278.

When will I get my documentation? Tickets will be sent approximately 10 days prior to departure by either email or post. If you have not received your documentation 7 days prior to travel, please e-mail admin@fredholidays.co.uk clearly stating your booking reference, name and date of departure in the subject line.

What is the baggage allowance for my flight? Your allowance will usually be shown on your e-ticket or/and your itinerary. If you are unsure about baggage allowance please email us on sales@fredholidays.co.uk clearly stating your booking reference, name and your date of departure in the subject line or call us. Please note some airlines do not include any free baggage allowance and may charge for hold baggage at check-in (this usually applies to low cost carriers).

What happens if there is a schedule change? If an airline advises us of a schedule change we will notify you of any changes over 1 hour. Depending on your chosen method of communication this will be either by e-mail, post or phone. For changes between 1-4 hours we will send you a new confirmation showing the new flight details. For changes between 4-8 hours we will send you a new confirmation showing the new flight details and will request that you contact us within 14 days of notification if you require further assistance. If we do not hear from you within 14 days we will consider this as an acceptance and any further changes will be classed as a voluntary amendment and charges will apply. For changes over 8 hours we will send you a new confirmation showing the new flight details and will require you to contact us to discuss further details. We will not re-confirm your ticket until you have instructed us to do so. If you wish to accept a schedule change you can do so by e-mailing us at sales@fredholidays.co.uk. Tickets Most tickets are electronic (e-tickets), with the exception of rail tickets, with data being stored electronically on suppliers’ systems. You may access your flight booking online by logging into the airline’s website. You will be able to retrieve your booking by entering the airline reference number (alphanumeric and six digits), which is shown on your ticket and the lead passenger name. Please reconfirm onward flights with the airline locally to ensure that your departure times are correct. Airlines may from time to time change their flight schedule and it may not be possible to advise you once you have departed the UK. How do I cancel my booking? We require all cancellations in writing by e-mail or post. Please check our booking terms and conditions for cancellation charges, but please note that it will not generally be possible to cancel your holiday without losing a percentage of your holiday (see our Terms and Conditions). We therefore strongly recommend you take out suitable insurance to cover you for possible eventualities that would require you to cancel your holiday. Can I change my flight booking? Most flight tickets are non-refundable or non-changeable. If your flight ticket states ‘non-refundable’, you may still be able to make a change subject to the airline’s terms and conditions. If your flight states “non-changeable and non-refundable”, then it will not be possible to make any changes to your flight booking.

Does my flight baggage allowance include hand luggage? No it doesn’t. Always check the exact hand luggage allowance with your airline prior to packing. A general guide is that hand luggage should not exceed height 450mm x width 350mm x depth 200mm. Most airlines have a hand luggage measurement gauge at check in. If you are taking hand luggage please remember that rules regarding liquids remain in place. Liquids, gels and cosmetics exceeding 100ml are not permitted in hand luggage, and smaller containers must be taken in a transparent plastic bag. Can I make rail reservations? We would normally reserve you a seat as requested. The majority of rail tickets can be used on any train on that route (not Thalys/ Eurostar). Please contact us if you require any further details. Vouchers Please note all documentation should be taken with you on your trip. Although some suppliers do not require the voucher to be presented on arrival, the majority will require this as form of payment. For customers with pre-arranged tours or transfers it is advisable that you reconfirm pick-up/drop-off times with the supplier locally. Credit Cards Please note that credit card use is not as widespread as it is in the UK. We would advise you to check in hotels, restaurants and shops that your credit card can be used (useful phrase: ‘Kann ich hier mit Kreditkarte bezahlen? – do you accept credit cards?) Are there different styles of beds in Germany, Austria and Switzerland? Yes there are. Twin-bedded rooms may consist of two mattresses and one frame or two separate beds. The majority of twin rooms are usually two mattresses and one bed-head; however we are always more than happy to request separate beds but won’t be able to guarantee any requests. Single rooms may not always offer the same facilities as twin rooms. Double rooms are standard-sized rooms with one king-or queen sized mattress and one frame. Are there any extra charges for hotels? Your confirmation invoice will list your hotel booking and its components. Some towns require the payment of a local Kurtaxe usually around 2 Euros per person per day. We will make every effort to advise you of this at the time booking.

Can I pre-book my seats on my flights? Many flights offer a chance to pre-book seats before departure. This can be done by selecting the ‘online-check in’ option on airlines’ homepages and is usually available within 23 hours of the flight departure. Low cost carriers offer a chance to utilise ‘Priority boarding’ for a fee. We can book this for you but usually charge a handling fee for the service. We, unlike many websites, always try to book one item of hold baggage per person for each section of the flight.

Terms & Conditions These Booking Conditions, together with any other written information we bring to your attention before confirming your booking, form the basis of your contract with Fred.\ Holidays a trading name of Fred. Olsen Travel Ltd whose address is Olympus House, 2 Olympus Close, Ipswich, Suffolk, IP1 5LN. Please read them carefully as they set out our respective rights and obligations. These Booking Conditions apply generally whether you have booked one of our Packages (Inclusive Price Combinations) or our single component items, e.g. accommodation or transport only. Please note however that where you have purchased a single component, there is a different condition as to liability. Please see ‘Our Responsibilities’ clause below. By making a booking, the lead named person on the booking agrees on behalf of all persons detailed on the booking that: a) He/she has read these terms and conditions and has the authority to and agrees to be bound by them; b) He/she consents to our use of information in accordance with our Privacy Policy; c) He/she is over 18 years of age and resident in the United Kingdom Booking and Paying For Your Arrangements A booking is made with Fred.\ Holidays when a) you tell us that you would like to accept our written or verbal quotation and b) you pay us a deposit of £150 per person unless advised differently at the time of booking. For cruise holidays including expeditions and airline bookings you will be advised of the deposit amount at the time of booking. When we issue you with a confirmation invoice, a binding contract will come into existence. Upon receipt, if you believe that any details on the confirmation or any other documents are wrong you must advise us immediately as changes may not be possible later. The balance of the cost of your arrangements (including any applicable surcharge) is due 10 weeks prior to scheduled departure but on some products we require payment 90 days prior. If we do not receive this balance in full and on time, we reserve the right to treat your booking as cancelled by you in which case the cancellation charges set out below will become payable. All credit card bookings will be subject to a 2% handling fee (American Express 2.5%). Your Financial Protection We provide full financial protection for our package holidays. If you buy a single travel service then this might not apply. For flight-based holidays this is through our Air Travel Organiser’s Licence number (0944). When you buy an ATOL protected flight or flight inclusive holiday from us you will receive an ATOL Certificate. This lists what is financially protected, where you can get information on what this means for you and who to contact if things go wrong. We will provide you with the services listed on the ATOL Certificate (or a suitable alternative). In some cases, where we aren’t able to do so for the unlikely reasons of insolvency, an alternative ATOL holder may provide you with the services you have bought or a suitable alternative (at no extra cost to you). You agree to accept that in those circumstances the alternative ATOL holder will perform those obligations and you agree to pay any money outstanding to be paid by you under your contract to that alternative ATOL holder. However, you also agree that in some cases it will not be possible to appoint an alternative ATOL holder, in which case you will be entitled to make a claim under the ATOL scheme (or your credit card issuer where applicable). If we are unable to provide the services listed (or a suitable alternative, through an alternative ATOL holder or otherwise) for the unlikely reasons of insolvency, the Trustees of the Air Travel Trust may make a payment to (or confer a benefit on) you under the ATOL scheme. You agree that in return for such a payment or benefit you assign absolutely to those Trustees any claims which you have or may have arising out of or relating to the non-provision of the services, including any claim against us, the travel agent (or your credit card issuer where applicable). You also agree that any such claims may be reassigned to another body, if that other body has paid sums you have claimed under the ATOL scheme. When you buy a package holiday that doesn’t include a flight, protection is provided by way of a bond held by ABTA The Travel Association. For further information please see www.abta.com.

Pricing We reserve the right to amend the price of unsold holidays at any time and correct errors in the prices of confirmed holidays within 7 days of the booking. The price of your holiday is subject at all times to changes in transport costs such as fuel, scheduled airfares and any other airline cost changes which are part of our contracts with airlines (and their agents), cruise ship operators and any other transport provider; to cost changes arising from government action such as changes in VAT or any other government imposed changes; and to changes in currency exchange rates and to dues, taxes or fees chargeable for services such as landing taxes or embarkation or disembarkation fees at ports and airports any or all of which may result in a variation of your holiday price. For changes to pricing after booking, we will absorb and you will not be charged for any increase equivalent to 2% of the price of your travel arrangements, which excludes insurance premiums and any amendment charges and/ or additional services or travel arrangements. You will be charged for the amount over and above that, plus an administration charge of £1.00 per person together with an amount to cover agents’ commission. If this means that you have to pay an increase of more than 10% of the price of your travel arrangements (excluding any amendment charges and/or additional services or travel arrangements), you will have the option of accepting a change to another holiday if we are able to offer one (if this is of equivalent or higher quality you will not have to pay more but if it is of lower quality you will be refunded the difference in price), or cancelling and receiving a full refund of all monies paid to us, any amendment charges and/or additional services or travel arrangements. Should you decide to cancel for this reason, you must exercise your right to do so within 14 days from the issue date printed on your final invoice. There will be no change made to the price of your holiday within 30 days of your departure. Should the price of your holiday go down due to the changes mentioned above, by more than 2% of your holiday cost, then any refund due will be paid to you. However, please note that travel arrangements are not always purchased in local currency and some apparent changes have no impact on the price of your travel due to contractual and other protection in place. When you buy a flight-based holiday, all monies you pay to the travel agent are held by him on behalf and for the benefit of the Trustees of the Air Travel Trust at all times. This is subject to the agent’s obligation to pay it to us for so long as we do not fail. If we fail, any money held at that time by the agent, or subsequently accepted from you by him, is and continues to be held on behalf of and for the benefit of the Trustees of the Air Travel Trust without any obligation to pay that money to us. When you buy a holiday not including a flight, all monies you pay to the travel agent are held by him on our behalf at all times. Travel Insurance We reserve the right to refuse or cancel a booking if you do not have personal travel insurance. We will treat any cancellation for this reason as a cancellation by you and the cancellation charges will be payable as set out below. Please read your policy details carefully and take them with you on holiday. It is your responsibility to ensure that the insurance you purchase is adequate and appropriate for your particular needs, and covers all travel, cancellation, medical and repatriation liabilities for the holiday. We reserve the right to request full details of your insurance policy however please note that we do not check insurance policies for suitability. You are responsible for indemnifying us in full in the event that we incur any losses or expenses arising out of your failure to take out adequate insurance cover. Cancellation by You If you or any other member of your party decides to cancel your confirmed booking you must notify us in writing. Your notice of cancellation will only take effect when it is received in writing by us at our offices at Fred.\ Holidays. Please note proof of postage (whether Royal Mail or e-mail) is not proof of receipt. You will be responsible for applicable cancellation charges up to the maximum shown below, unless otherwise advised. The cancellation charge detailed is calculated as all non-refundable items plus a percentage of the remaining total cost payable by the person(s) cancelling:

Changes by You If you wish to change any part of your booking you must inform us in writing. Whilst we will do our best to assist, we cannot guarantee that we will be able to meet your requested change. All changes will be subject to any applicable rate changes or extra costs incurred as well as any costs incurred by us and any costs or charges incurred or imposed by any of our suppliers. You should be aware that these costs could increase the closer to the departure date that changes are made and you should contact us as soon as possible. Where we are unable to assist you and you do not wish to proceed with the original booking we will treat this as a cancellation by you. A cancellation fee may be payable. Please note that is important at the time of booking to advise the names of travellers that match the name given on their passport. Failure to do so will usually result in a name change charge by the airline. Accuracy We endeavour to ensure that all the information and prices both on our website and in our brochures are accurate; however occasionally changes and errors occur and we reserve the right to correct prices and other details in such circumstances. You must check the current price and all other details relating to the arrangements that you wish to book before your booking is confirmed. Changes or cancellation by us As we plan your holiday arrangements many months in advance we may occasionally have to make changes or cancel your booking and we reserve the right to do so at any time. If we make a major change to your holiday, we will inform you or your travel agent as soon as reasonably possible if there is time before your departure. You will have the choice of either accepting the change of arrangements, accepting an offer of alternative travel arrangements of comparable standard from us if available (we will refund any price difference if the alternative is of a lower value), or cancelling your holiday and receiving a full refund of all monies paid. In some cases we will also pay compensation (see below). These options don’t apply for minor changes. Examples of minor changes include alteration of your outward/return flights by less than 12 hours, changes to aircraft type, change of accommodation to another of the same or higher standard, and changes of carriers. Please note that carriers such as airlines used in the brochure may be subject to change. We will not cancel your travel arrangements less than 10 weeks before your departure date (90 days for a cruise holiday), except for reasons of force majeure or failure by you to pay the final balance. We may cancel your holiday before this date if, for example, the minimum number of clients required for a particular travel arrangement is not reached. If your holiday is cancelled you can either have a refund of all monies paid or accept an offer of alternative travel arrangements of comparable standard from us, if available (we will refund any price difference if the alternative is of a lower value). In some cases we will pay compensation (see below). If we cancel or make a major change we will pay compensation as detailed below except where the major change or cancellation arises due to reasons of force majeure. The compensation that we offer does not exclude you from claiming more if you are entitled to do so.

We reserve the right in our absolute discretion to terminate without notice the holiday arrangements of any customer whose behaviour is such that it is in our opinion likely to cause distress, damage, danger, or annoyance to our customers, our/supplier employees, or to any third party, or to property. If you are prevented from travelling because, in our or our suppliers’ opinion, you appear to be unfit to travel or likely to cause discomfort or disturbance to others, our responsibility for your holiday ceases and we shall be under no obligation to pay any refund, compensation or costs to you. Please note that we have no control over the behaviour of other persons staying at or visiting your holiday accommodation and we are not responsible for any withdrawal or impairment of facilities or other loss or damage caused by them. Under no circumstances are you entitled to share or sub-let your accommodation with anyone other than those individuals shown on your booking. Force Majeure We will not pay you compensation if we have to cancel or change your travel arrangements in any way because of unusual or unforeseeable circumstances beyond our control. These can include but are not limited to war, riot, industrial dispute, terrorist activity and its consequences, natural or nuclear disaster, fire, adverse weather conditions, epidemics and pandemics, unavoidable technical problems with transport, and any other circumstances of any nature whatsoever. Our Responsibilities We are a Member of ABTA, membership number Y0128. We are obliged to maintain a high standard of service to you by ABTA’s Code of Conduct. We can also offer you an arbitration scheme for the resolution of disputes arising out of this contract. The scheme is arranged by ABTA and administered independently. It is a simple and inexpensive method of arbitration on documents alone with restricted liability on you for costs. The upper limit on claims is £5,000 per person and £25,000 per booking form. The scheme doesn’t apply to claims which are solely in respect of physical injury or illness or their consequences. It can however deal with claims which include an element of minor injury or illness subject to a limit of £1,500 on the amount the arbitrator can award per person in respect of this element. Your request for arbitration must be received by ABTA within eighteen months of the date of return from holiday. For injury and illness claims, you can request the ABTA Mediation Procedure and we have the option to agree to mediation. Further information on the Code and ABTA’s assistance in resolving disputes can be found on www.abta.com. 1) Single Components

If you have purchased a ‘single component’ i.e. accommodation or transportation only, we will accept responsibility only for our own negligence e.g. If we have negligently misdescribed the accommodation etc., or if we have been negligent in our choice of supplier. We will not be responsible for the negligence of our suppliers, their employees, servants or agents.

2) Package Holidays

Subject to these booking conditions, your holiday arrangements will be made or performed using reasonable skill and care. We will be responsible if our employees, servants or agents fail to make or perform your holiday arrangements using reasonable skill and care as long as they were acting within the course of their employment or carrying out work which we had asked them to do.

We will not be responsible or pay compensation for any injury, illness, death, loss, damage, expense, cost or other claim of any description which results from: (a) the act(s) and/or omission(s) of the person(s) affected; (b) the act(s) and/or omission(s) of a third party not connected with the provision of the services contracted for and which were unforeseeable or unavoidable;

(c) unusual or unforeseeable circumstances beyond our control, the consequences of which could not have been avoided even if all due care had been exercised; or (d) an event which either ourselves, our employees, agents or suppliers and subcontractors could not, even with all due care, have foreseen or forestalled. The services and facilities included in your holiday will be deemed to be provided with reasonable skill and care if they comply with any local regulations which apply, or, if there are no applicable local regulations, if they are reasonable when compared to the local standards in practice. We limit the amount of compensation we may have to pay you if we are found liable under this clause: (a) Loss of and/or damage to any luggage or personal possessions and money, the maximum amount we will have to pay you is £25 per person in total because you are assumed to have adequate insurance in place to cover any losses of this kind. (b) Our liability, except in cases involving death, injury or illness, shall be limited to a maximum of two times the cost of your travel arrangements. This maximum amount will only be payable where everything has gone wrong and you or your party has not received any benefit at all from your booking. (c) Claims in respect of international travel by air, sea and rail, or any stay in a hotel: i. The extent of our liability will in all cases be limited as if we were carriers under the appropriate Conventions, which include The Warsaw/Montreal Convention (international travel by air); The Athens Convention (with respect to sea travel); The Berne/ Cotif Convention (with respect to rail travel); The Paris Convention (with respect to hotel arrangements); and The Strasbourg Convention (CNLI) (with respect to travel on inland waterways). You can ask for copies of these Conventions from our offices. In addition, you agree that the operating carrier or transport company’s own ‘Conditions of Carriage’ will apply to you on that journey. When arranging transportation for you, we rely on the terms and conditions contained within these international conventions and those ‘Conditions of Carriage’. You acknowledge that all of the terms and conditions contained in those ‘Conditions of Carriage’ form part of your contract with us, as well as with the transport company and that those ‘Conditions of Carriage’ shall be deemed to be included by reference into this contract. ii. When making any payment, we are entitled to deduct any money which you have received or are entitled to receive from the transport provider or hotelier for the complaint or claim in question. Complaints If a problem occurs whilst you are on holiday, you must inform the relevant supplier immediately so that the matter can be put right. If the supplier cannot resolve the problem to your satisfaction at the time, you must also contact us immediately by telephoning our offices so that we are given the opportunity to help. In the event that a complaint cannot be resolved at the time, you must write to us within 28 days of return to the UK quoting the original booking reference and giving all relevant information. PLEASE NOTE: Failure to take these steps will hinder our ability to resolve the problem and/or investigate it fully and in consequence, your rights under the contract may be affected. We regret we cannot accept liability for any claims which are not notified to ourselves and/or our suppliers strictly in accordance with this clause. Special Requests Any special requests must be advised to us at the time of booking. You should then confirm your requests in writing. Whilst every effort will be made by us to try and arrange your reasonable special requests, we cannot guarantee that they will be fulfilled. Failure to meet any special request will not be a breach of contract on our part unless the request has been specifically confirmed. Refunds Any amounts due to you will be paid upon request within 28 days. Disabilities and Medical Problems We are not a specialist disabled holiday company, but we

will do our utmost to cater for any special requirements you may have. If you or any member of your party has any medical problem or disability which may affect your stay, please provide us with full details by writing or emailing us, before we confirm your booking so that we can advise as to the suitability of your chosen arrangements if possible. Excursions Excursions or other tours that you may choose to book or pay for whilst you are on holiday are not part of your package holiday provided by us. For any excursion or other tour that you book, your contract will be with the operator of the excursion or tour and not with us. We are not responsible for the provision of the excursion or tour or for anything that happens during the course of its provision by the operator. Passport, Visa and Immigration Requirements and Health Formalities It is your responsibility to check and fulfil the passport, visa, health and immigration requirements applicable to your itinerary. You must check requirements for your own specific circumstances with the relevant Embassies and/ or Consulates and your own doctor as applicable. Most countries now require passports to be valid for at least 6 months after your return date. If your passport is in its final year, you should check with the Embassy of the country you are visiting. For further information please contact the Passport Office on 0870 5210410 or visit www. passport.gov.uk. Special conditions apply for travel to the USA and all passengers must have individual machine readable passports. Please check www.usembassy.org. uk. For European holidays you should obtain a completed and issued form EHIC prior to departure. Up to date travel advice can be obtained from the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, visit www.fco.gov.uk. We do not accept any responsibility if you cannot travel because you have not complied with any passport, visa or immigration requirements. Delays and other Travel Information We regret we are unable to offer you any assistance should a delay disrupt your itinerary. Any airline or other transport provider concerned may however provide refreshments and/or appropriate accommodation. We cannot accept liability for any delay which is due to re-scheduling times by the airline or airline authorities, or any of the reasons set out in Force Majeure of these booking conditions. The latest flight timings will be shown on your tickets which will be dispatched to you approximately two weeks before departure. You should check your tickets very carefully immediately on receipt to ensure you have the correct flight times. If flight times change after tickets have been dispatched we will contact you as soon as we can to let you know. Under EU Law, you have rights in some circumstances to refunds and/or compensation from the airline in cases of denied boarding, cancellation or delay to flights. Full details of these rights will be publicised at EU airports and will also be available from airlines. Reimbursement in such cases is the responsibility of the airline and will not automatically entitle you to a refund of your holiday price from us. Guest Behaviour We reserve the right to terminate your booking arrangements with us immediately, should you or your party fail to conduct yourselves in an orderly manner. In the event of such termination our liability to you and/or your party will cease and you and/or your party will be required to leave your accommodation or other service immediately. We will have no further obligations to you and/ or your party. Jurisdiction When you make a booking you guarantee that you have the authority to accept and do accept on behalf of your party the terms of these booking conditions. A contract will exist as soon as we issue our confirmation invoice. This contract is made on the terms of these booking conditions, which are governed by English Law, and the jurisdiction of the English Courts. You may however, choose the law and jurisdiction of Scotland or Northern Ireland if you wish to do so. Data Protection Full details of our data protection policy are available upon request.
