Whether visiting historical cities such as Vienna, Paris, Budapest, St Petersburg, Prague and Moscow; exploring UNESCO World Heritage Sites or sampling one of the local wines from the Rhine and Moselle regions, you will find that a river cruise offers a fantastic variety of experiences. Explore The Danube A river as magnificent as the Danube certainly demands something special from a river craft; one that emulates the classical lines, dimensions and facilities of a dazzling ocean liner but that allows passengers to experience the beauty of this part of Europe up close. In 1987, a group of designers rose to this challenge and presented MS Mozart to the world – the dream and concept of one man, driven to conjure perfection and harmony on the Danube.

E

IN XCU CL RS U IO D NS ED

The moment you step aboard the MS Mozart its affinity with a classical ocean liner is all apparent. You are immediately presented with spacious and sumptuous public areas, the most impressive of which being the sweeping staircase that steers guests upwards to the delightful lounges above, where you may gaze free from obstruction upon the magnificence of the passing scenery. This is no contemporary space – rather, one that was meant to endure through the ages, with generous use of classical hardwood finishes throughout. This vessel most definitely has the feel and atmosphere of a country house hotel rather than that of a river vessel. Take for example

the wood panelled library with its comfortable seating and the paintings that adorn its walls, which must have taken a lifetime to collect; elsewhere, perhaps hang out at the Don Giovanni Bar, the Cafe Amadeus or at the wellstocked Boutique. Alternatively, the swimming pool and spa might well beckon for the more energetic, whilst for those whose idea is to just unwind, relax and simply soak up the scenery, the Observation Deck is most certainly the place to be. Liveried stewards complete the ocean liner allusion; where in the delightful restaurant the team of onboard chefs perform to the peak of their profession, presenting cuisine that is as pleasing to the palette as it is to the eye. The generous dimensions of the Cabin accommodation aboard MS Mozart are most certainly the envy of most other vessels and are spread over two decks - each presenting guests with facilities that might ordinarily be expected in a five star hotel including: en suite facilities, mini-bar, satellite TV, radio, hairdryer and WiFi. The MS Mozart is magnificent indeed.

7 Night Cruise - MS Mozart

Day 1 – Passau

Day 5 – Bratislava

Arrive in Munich and transfer to the ship in Passau. The MS Mozart embarkation begins at 16:00 and is soon followed by the Captain’s Welcome Reception where there is ample opportunity to mingle and get to know one’s fellow guests before sailing towards Upper Austria and the marvels of the Wachau Valley. The welcome dinner is a chance to enjoy the first of many fantastic dinners all prepared using fresh, local ingredients.

The morning is at leisure as the MS Mozart meanders her way towards the Slovakian capital, Bratislava. In the afternoon visit St Martin’s Cathedral, the Grassalkovich Palace and Castle Hill with its wonderful views over the surrounding countryside. It is a must of any visit to Bratislava to partake in a little (famous) beer tasting which is also on offer following supper. Sail in the evening.

Day 2 – Krems

This morning enjoy our included city tour of Vienna. During the tour you will experience many of the main attractions of this venerable Danube metropolis. The trip along the ring road passes many magnificent buildings – the State Opera, Parliament, Burgtheatre, City Hall, the university and Votive Church – into the heart of the city to St Stephen’s Cathedral.

Join your included excursion, which starts after breakfast with a transfer to Dürnstein. Walk through the cobblestone streets of the most famous village of Wachau Valley. You will get to know the Wachau wines during a wine tasting in Dürnstein before driving to the Abbey of Göttweig, perched high on a hill overlooking the Danube. Visit the Abbey and transfer back to the ship.

Day 3 – Esztergom/Budapest Today provides you with the option of either remaining on board and continuing to cruise to Budapest or to disembark in Esztergom for our optional excursion along the banks of the Danube. Esztergom, the ancient residence of Hungarian kings and the seat of the archbishop, is one of the highlights of this excursion. After visiting the Basilica, the largest church in Hungary, drive along the Danube to the ruins of Visegrad, where you have a wonderful view over the Danube Bend. The next stop is the artist village of Szentendre. After a tour of this picturesque place the bus heads for Budapest when you will re-join the ship. After lunch, join our included city tour of Budapest. A city known as the “Queen of the Danube”, is one of the most beautiful cities in Europe. The Danube flows through the heart of the city and divides it into the cities of Buda and Pest. The tour takes you first through the Pest side, past splendid baroque buildings, the City Hall, the Parliament, to Heroes Square with monuments of many Hungarian kings and the famous Chain Bridge. Next are the hills of Buda Castle, where you visit the Matthias Church and the Fishermen’s Bastion before returning to the ship in the afternoon.

Day 4 – Budapest

Day 6 – Vienna

In the evening you have a choice to join two optional excursions. The first one ‘Vienna by night’ takes you through the Vienna woods to the Kahlenberg. Enjoy the view over the vineyards and the town before visiting the traditional wine village of Grinzing. Visit a typical “HeurigenPub” and enjoy two “Vierterln” wines, typical spreads and tavern music and learn about the Viennese “Gemütlichkeit”. The second optional excursion is “Vienna Hofburg Orchestra”. Transfer from the ship to the Vienna Hofburg Orchestra – where 40 musicians and international soloists from all the major orchestras of Vienna associations await you. The programme consists of the most famous melodies of waltz and operetta music by “Waltz King” Johann Strauss and opera arias by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Venues include the magnificent halls of the Hofburg Palace, the Vienna Konzerthaus and the Musikverein. Return to the ship after the concert.

Day 7 – Melk This morning join our included excursion to Melk. You will see Melk Abbey which has been the spiritual and cultural centre of the country for over 1000 years. The Benedictine Abbey was founded in 1089. During the tour you will visit many of the different rooms including the library and enjoy the magnificent views from the terrace. Return to the ship in time for lunch.

Day 8 – Passau After breakfast disembark for your transfer to the airport.

Morning sees an optional visit to the Parliament Buildings, St Stephen’s Basilica and the Market Hall in Budapest. In the afternoon there is an optional visit to a Hungarian Csarda accompanied by traditional musical renditions and folklore. As the MS Mozart slips her mooring in Budapest at supper time, see the wonderful silhouetted buildings that line the waterfront. Sail during the night.

Day 5 – Cruising day, Iron Gates

Our Danube voyage begins at the Bavarian city of Passau. The MS MOZART embarkation begins at 15:00 and is soon followed by the Captain’s Welcome Reception where there is ample opportunity to mingle and get to know one’s fellow guests before sailing towards Vienna, the capital of Austria. A welcome dinner is served in the restaurant. Sail during the night.

Enjoy a very popular excursion to the Puszta, a UNESCO World Heritage site, a centre of Hungarian traditional life. It is a characteristic landscape with its endless horizon of dry steppe, where ancient Hungarian flora and fauna live within national parks in harmony with the local people, their everyday life and traditions. You can also admire the outstanding skills of the horseman in an equestrian show presented by beautiful horses and horseman in traditional costumes. Hungarian wine tasting included. Rejoin the ship in Kalocsa.

The passage through the Iron Gates forms one of the highlights of this journey. One of Europe´s most impressive gorges stretches out over 110 kilometres. Up to 1,200 metre high cliff massifs mount up at the left and right side of the river. At the narrowest area, the “Kazan-Pass” it seems like the passage is not possible. At no other point is the Danube as spectacular as here.

Passau

£1687 pp

Day 1 – Nuremberg

Day 4 – Passau - Linz

Arrive in Nuremberg and board your ship. In the evening is a Welcome Dinner that will allow you to get to know your fellow passengers. The ship moors overnight in Nuremberg.

After breakfast you arrive in the picturesque Passau, where the Inn and Ilz rivers join the Danube. Look out for the Vester Niederhaus and Vester Oberhaus which is the lower part of Passau’s medieval fortress. There is a choice of two tours today, a Passau walking tour or an optional excursion to Salzburg. Passau is a 2,000 year old city noted for its Gothic and Italian Baroque architecture. The cobblestone streets of the old town take you past the old city fortifications and St Stephen’s Cathedral, home to the largest pipe organ in the world. If you choose the optional Salzburg excursion you will have the experience of walking through the historic centre, famous as the birthplace of Mozart and also as the setting of ‘The Sound of Music’. There will be free time in the city – don’t forget to buy the local chocolate delicacy Mozartkugel. The return to the ship will take you to Linz where the ship will be docked. After dinner you may wish to take the opportunity to walk through this beautiful city.

Day 2 – Nuremberg Continental Divide After a hearty breakfast, join the guided morning tour through this medieval city, encircled by the ancient city wall and overlooked by Kaiserberg Castle, which is believed to date back to the 12th Century. You will also see the Justice Palace where the famous trials of 1946 took place. Later the ship sails on to Regensburg.

Day 3 – Regensburg This morning’s scenic cruising passes through the final part of the Main-Danube Canal en route to Regensburg, a fine example of a medieval city that escaped lightly from the ravages of the Second World War. This means that it maintains the old street layouts and gives us an idea of how life was during medieval times. A guided walking tour will enable you to see the city’s highlights, including the old Town Hall and the Porta Praetoria, gates to an ancient Roman fort built in 179 A.D. In the afternoon there is an optional excursion to Weltenburg Abbey, considered the oldest Benedictine monastery in Bavaria, travelling via the dramatic scenery of the Danube Gorge (seasonal availability).

16

Day 5 – Melk - Vienna Early this morning you will cruise through the delightful and romantic Wachau Valley en route to Melk. Your guided tour takes you to the 900 year old Benedictine Abbey, one of the world’s most famous monastic sites. Return to the ship for lunch before cruising through the Wachau region. Arrive in Vienna after dinner and explore

the magnificent Austrian capital on your own or enjoy an optional Mozart and Strauss evening concert.

Day 6 – Vienna This morning enjoy our included city tour of Vienna. The tour will introduce the highlights of the impressive Imperial city seeing the world famous Opera House, the Ringstrasse, St Stephen’s Cathedral and more. The tour is followed by free time in the city centre to shop for souvenirs or enjoy the local coffee and cake. Alternatively, join an optional excursion to the imperial Schönbrunn Palace, the former summer residence of the Habsburg emperors and a fine example of Baroque architecture.

Day 8 – Budapest This morning, a sightseeing tour takes you to historic Buda Castle, where you can enjoy a splendid view of the twin cities of Buda and Pest. Budapest

Belgrade

Day 1 – Budapest Embark upon your river cruise ship, docked in the city centre. This evening, meet your fellow passengers at the Welcome Dinner as the ship cruises past Budapest’s illuminated riverfront.

Day 2 – Mohács - Pécs - Villany Arrive in Mohács during breakfast, then depart for your excursion to Pécs, the 2010 European Union Cultural Capital. Founded more than 2,000 years ago by the Romans, Pécs was an important cultural base during many centuries of Ottoman rule. You will visit the Mosque Church, the largest structure surviving from the Ottoman period, as well as the underground burial chambers that date back to the 4th century. You will also see St Peter’s Basilica, the city’s main Catholic cathedral, as well as the restored Synagogue, before returning to the ship in Mohács. After lunch, enjoy a wine-tasting excursion to sample aromatic, spicy wines from the vineyards of Villány.

Day 3 – Vukovar - Novi Sad This morning, enjoy a “Yugoslav Civil War” tour of Vukovar in Croatia that will show you the Ovcara Memorial, the monumental cross that serves as a memorial to those who lost their lives during Croatia’s struggle for independence. Enjoy lunch on board as you cruise to Novi Sad, Serbia, one of Europe’s greatest historical treasures. On your afternoon walking tour of the city, you will see the Petrovaradin fortress, a mighty stronghold no enemy has ever breached,

20

now home to a hotel, museum and artists’ studios. Some guests will also see the Novi Sad Synagogue, a beautiful structure located in the Old Town District.

Day 4 – Belgrade Wake up in Belgrade, the capital of Serbia and enjoy a panoramic tour of the city that includes the Kalemegdan Fortress and the Serbian Orthodox Temple of St Sava. As an alternative, take the “Tito’s Memorial” tour, which includes a visit to the House of Flowers where the tomb of Josip Tito is located. You will also see some of the many gifts Tito received during his presidency. After your tour, you will have free time in the city centre to stroll along Prince Michael Street, the city’s main shopping area.

Day 5 – Cruising Through The Iron Gates Today, enjoy a full day of cruising through one of Europe’s most awe-inspiring natural wonders, the Iron Gates. Here the Danube narrows as it winds through a series of magnificent gorges between Serbia and Romania. The banks of the river along this natural border are lined with sheer-faced rocks that stretch high overhead, a sight that will be an unforgettable highlight of your Black Sea adventure.

Day 6 – Vidin Today you will visit the Baba Vida Fortress, the only entirely preserved medieval castle in the country. Standing guard over the Danube at the Bulgarian frontier town of Vidin, this massive medieval castle has thick walls and four imposing towers, a stark contrast to the peaceful park that surrounds it. Inside, you’ll be treated to a fascinating historical re-enactment, a performance held exclusively for the guests of the cruise. Continue on to Belogradchik, a beautifully restored castle dating back to the Dark Ages, located in a stunning landscape of unusual rock formations. The ship departs early afternoon.

Day 7 – Giurgiu - Bucharest Rousse Enjoy a full day excursion to Bucharest, the “Paris of the East.” Begin your day with a city tour that features a visit to the Palace of the Parliament or the Open Air Museum, dedicated to preserving the traditional architecture of rural Romania. After lunch, all guests will have a guided tour of the newly renovated Lipscani district, the historical city centre of Bucharest. The evening is yours to spend however you wish.

Day 8 – Rousse After breakfast disembark for your transfer to the airport.

Cruise Only from

£1499 pp

Niederwald Monument, Rüdesheim

Day 1 – Amsterdam

Day 4 – Rüdesheim

Day 6 – Koblenz - Cochem

Arrive in vibrant Amsterdam and board your luxurious river cruise ship, moored near the city centre. Meet your fellow travellers tonight at the Welcome Dinner.

This morning, admire the stunning beauty of the Rhine’s numerous fairytale castles and legendary Lorelei Rock as you cruise through the Rhine Gorge. After lunch, arrive in Rüdesheim, where you will enjoy an afternoon wine tasting with a local vintner. Explore the Drosselgasse, a narrow alley lined with wine taverns and restaurants during your free time. In the evening, visit Siegfried’s Mechanical Musical Instrument Museum, which houses a fantastic collection of robotic and self-playing musical instruments from the 18th-20th centuries. The ship overnights here.

This afternoon, arrive in picturesque Cochem, located amidst the steep vineyards and wine villages of the Moselle. You then have the option to take a walking tour. The town is dominated by the castle which was originally built in the 11th Century but destroyed by French soldiers in 1869. The present castle was built in the 19th Century.

Day 2 – Amsterdam After a sumptuous breakfast your tour begins with a scenic canal cruise through the city known as the “Venice of the North.” See the fabled Skinny Bridge, elegant narrow townhouses and the famous house where Anne Frank once spent years in hiding during World War II. Afterwards, enjoy a panoramic coach tour of Amsterdam that will take you past numerous iconic landmarks and includes a photo stop at the Rembrandt Windmill. You will also have free time to explore and shop for souvenirs.

Day 3 – Cologne This morning, enjoy a scenic cruise on the Rhine River to Cologne. After arriving early afternoon, you will have your choice of two tours. The first is a walking tour of Cologne, which includes the Old Town, Cathedral Square, and the spectacular 13th-century Gothic cathedral whose twin spires are amongst the tallest in Europe. Afterwards, you will have free time to linger in the cathedral, browse the many nearby shops or perhaps enjoy a glass of Kölsch, Cologne’s famous beer. As an alternative, enjoy a guided bike tour of Cologne (capacity controlled).

30

Day 5 – Rüdesheim - Mainz Koblenz Arrive in Mainz after breakfast and choose between two different excursions; a walking tour of beautiful Mainz that includes the famous Gutenberg Museum, home of the world’s first printed bible; or an excursion to Heidelberg, Germany’s oldest university town, where you will see the red-walled Heidelberg Castle and its Great Vat and take a walking tour of Old Heidelberg. Tonight, the ship cruises to Koblenz.

Day 7 – Bernkastel Luxembourg This morning, arrive in charming Bernkastel, where you will enjoy a winery visit and walking tour. Strategically located in the heart of the Moselle, the town boasts over 500 years of documented wine history and has a medieval marketplace, steeply gabled half-timbered homes, and beautiful town squares with centuries-old fountains. Above the town stand the ruins of Castle Landshut, the former summer home of the Archbishop of Trier, which was destroyed by a fire in the 17th-century. Later in the afternoon, your ship cruises to Remich, Luxembourg.

Day 8 – Luxembourg After breakfast, it is time to disembark your ship and prepare for your homeward journey.

Places of Interest

Bamberg The Domplatz is one of the most beautiful squares in Germany and contains the Cathedral as well as the old bishop’s palace. Bamberg is full of historic hoses and half-timbered structures that make it a delight to walk around. The Cathedral dominates the skyline and is a mixture of late Romanesque and early Gothic styles.

Bernkastel

The Main River flows through some of the most scenic parts of Germany covering the holiday regions of Bavaria, Baden-Württemberg and Hesse. The river passes through important cities of the past and present – Frankfurt with its modernistic skyline, Würzburg with the Festung Marienberg on the skyline and Bamberg, a beautiful UNESCO World Heritage site. The Main-Danube Canal is a feat of modern engineering, connecting the two rivers through a series of locks – some of these are very narrow. We offer a cruise highlighting Europe’s rivers and castles taking in the manmade Main-Danube Canal. The cruise starts in Remich and cruises via Trier, the oldest city in Germany before continuing through the meandering Moselle river valley. The cruise visits story book German villages and offers dramatic scenery in the Rhine River Gorge. The numerous fortresses and castles add to the dramatic effect of the river. The journey continues on the Main River and allows visits to beautiful medieval towns before cruising through the Main-Danube Canal to historical Nuremberg.

Is situated on the Moselle and is a delightful place to visit as it contains many well preserved halftimbered houses. From the colourful market square to the delights of the Spitzhäuschen (a house that looks very fragile) you will find the town a photographer’s delight. Some of the best wine of the region is found here.

Heidelberg It is not unusual that Heidelberg is one of the most visited destinations in Germany. Undoubtedly it is one of the most picturesque cities. Narrow streets, historic University buildings and Heidelberg castle looking down on to the old town all add to the special ambience.

Trier Germany’s oldest city which had settlements as early as the third Century BC. It is a city that features many interesting Roman buildings including the Porta Nigra, Germany’s oldest defensive structure. The ‘Aula Palatina’ served as the throne hall for the Roman Emperor and the nearby Kaiserthermen acted as the imperial baths.

Würzburg The Residenz Palace features the beautiful ‘Treppenhaus’ where the largest fresco in the world can be viewed from the impressive staircase. The Festung Marienberg towers above the town and was the original defence system to protect the town. The Alte Mainbrücke is a beautiful bridge that connects the two sides of the river and is the oldest bridge on the Main river.

Life On board and Ashore For your convenience and to offer you complete peace of mind before your river cruise holiday, we have prepared some useful information and answers to some frequently asked questions about life on board and ashore.

Dress Codes

Medical Services

Clothing can be casual and comfortable during the day on board and for shore excursions. In the evening, the dress code is usually smart casual. At Captain receptions and other formal evenings a suit is recommended for gentlemen and elegant eveningwear for ladies. Clothing standards on cruises may vary as each ship offers an individual dress code.

On many cruises there is a fully qualified doctor on board, especially on journeys to more remote regions where medical services may not be easily accessible.

Check-in & Check-out Check-in and check-out times are according to the vessel’s individual schedule and may vary from cruise to cruise. All packages include flights that are selected according to the appropriate departure and arrival times. For cruise only bookings we advise you at time of booking about your embarking and disembarking times and are happy to assist you with any travel or transfer enquiries you may have.

Currency & Credit Cards In most European countries included in the itineraries, as well as on board, the accepted currency is Euros. Most ships also accept major credit cards.

Dining Most cruises offer a full board cruise holiday package. However, drinks are usually not included. Please consult the detailed information on the particular cruise pages. With prior notice, every effort will be made to accommodate special requests such as birthday and anniversary celebrations and any special dietary requirements, including your favourite dish.

Laundry On some cruises, the ship provides a laundry service for a charge.

Electricity Onboard electricity is mostly 220v. For European power sockets a 2-pin adapter is required. If you plan on taking any electric appliances with you, please remember to also take an adapter.

Language The crews are multilingual and English is spoken on all selected river cruises.

Leisure & Recreation Each vessel provides you with a wide choice of leisure activities for a complete ‘feel good’ experience. Enjoy calming massages, indulgent beauty treatments, invigorating exercise, a friendly game of mini-golf or simply relax on the sundeck with a drink and a good book. The recreational facilities on board each ship differ; full details are shown in the ship information pages, or as us at the time of booking.

64

Pets Animals are not allowed on the cruise ships.

Valuables Most ships offer in-room safes or safety deposit boxes for you to store any valuables in.

Safety All ships are constantly checked and the crews are well trained. All safety regulations and requirements have been met and fulfilled.

Shore Excursions All of the river cruises provide you with the chance to discover the rich culture and historical sights at each port of call. Special guided tours and shore excursions are already included in most of the cruise packages. Additionally, optional tours can be booked on board. Please consult the detailed information on the cruise pages.

Smoking In general, smoking is not permitted indoors on any ship. On some ships you are allowed to smoke in designated smoking areas.

Tipping Tips for staff members are not included in the price of the cruise. According to international standards, it is common to tip staff for their services. Tipping is at the passenger’s discretion.

Telephones Most ships provide a telephone as standard in all cabins. If necessary a telephone can be used at the reception desk or in the foyer.

Typical Cruise Day Usually your cruise has daily ports of call where you have the option to join a shore excursion or spend some time at leisure. If you wish to stay on board you can take advantage of the many leisure activities or just relax and enjoy some time to yourself. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are served on board. Usually there is an entertainment programme in the evenings.

Wellness & Relaxation Some vessels provide luxury spa and beauty facilities. Please consult the ship information pages for details or ask us at time of booking.

Fred.\ Booking Conditions These Booking Conditions, together with any other written information we bring to your attention before confirming your booking, form the basis of your contract with Fred.\ a trading name of Fred. Olsen Travel Ltd whose address is Olympus House, 2 Olympus Close, Ipswich, Suffolk, IP1 5LN. Please read them carefully as they set out our respective rights and obligations. These Booking Conditions apply generally whether you have booked one of our Packages (Inclusive Price Combinations) or our single component items, e.g. accommodation or transport only. Please note however that where you have purchased a single component, there is a different condition as to liability. Please see ‘Our Responsibilities’ clause below. By making a booking, the lead named person on the booking agrees on behalf of all persons detailed on the booking that: a) b) c)

He/she has read these terms and conditions and has the authority to and agrees to be bound by them; He/she consents to our use of information in accordance with our Privacy Policy; He/she is over 18 years of age and resident in the United Kingdom

Booking and Paying For Your Arrangements A booking is made with Fred.\ when a) you tell us that you would like to accept our written or verbal quotation and b) you pay us a deposit of £250 per person unless advised differently at the time of booking. For river cruises and airline bookings you will be advised of the deposit amount at the time of booking. When we issue you with a confirmation invoice, a binding contract will come into existence. Upon receipt, if you believe that any details on the confirmation or any other documents are wrong you must advise us immediately as changes may not be possible later. The balance of the cost of your arrangements (including any applicable surcharge) is due 12 weeks prior to scheduled departure. If we do not receive this balance in full and on time, we reserve the right to treat your booking as cancelled by you in which case the cancellation charges set out below will become payable. All credit card bookings will be subject to a 2% handling fee (American Express 2.5%). Your Financial Protection All the package and Flight-Plus holidays we sell come with protection for your money. If you buy a single travel service then this might not apply. Package holidays are protected by the package organiser and we will provide you with their confirmation. Our Flight-Plus holidays are ATOL- protected (our ATOL number is 0944). A Flight-Plus is where you purchase through us, at the same time or within a day of each other, a flight plus overseas accommodation and/or car hire from separate suppliers (i.e. not a package holiday). When you buy an ATOL protected flight or flight inclusive holiday from us you will receive an ATOL Certificate. This lists what is financially protected, where you can get information on what this means for you and who to contact if things go wrong. On all Flight Plus holiday arrangements, your money is ATOL protected meaning that you will be able to continue with your holiday or receive a refund of the amount paid to us in the unlikely event of our insolvency or the insolvency of your service providers. Please note however that we have no liability beyond that for insolvency as set out in the ATOL scheme, because we act as agent of the suppliers. In respect of our Flight-Plus holidays, we are obliged to tell you: • We or the suppliers of the services you have bought will provide you with the services you have bought (or a suitable alternative). In some cases, where neither we nor the supplier are able to do so for reasons of insolvency, an alternative ATOL holder may provide you with the services you have bought or a suitable alternative (at no extra cost to you). You agree to accept that in those circumstances, the alternative ATOL holder will perform those obligations and you agree to pay any money outstanding to be paid by you under your contract to that alternative ATOL holder. However, you also agree that in some cases it will not

66

be possible to appoint an alternative ATOL holder, in which case you will be entitled to make a claim under the ATOL scheme (or your credit card issuer where applicable). • If we, or the suppliers identified on your ATOL certificate, are unable to provide the services listed (or a suitable alternative, through an alternative ATOL holder or otherwise) for reasons of insolvency, the Trustees of the Air Travel Trust may make a payment to (or confer a benefit on) you under the ATOL scheme. You agree that in return for such a payment or benefit you assign absolutely to those Trustees any claims which you have or may have arising out of or relating to the non-provision of the services, including any claim against us, the travel agent (or your credit card issuer where applicable). You also agree that any such claims may be re-assigned to another body, if that other body has paid sums you have claimed under the ATOL scheme. We provide full financial protection for our package holidays that do not include a flight and accommodation only bookings, by way of a bond held by ABTA The Travel Association. Pricing We reserve the right to amend the price of unsold holidays at any time and correct errors in the prices of confirmed holidays within 7 days of the booking. The price of your holiday is subject at all times to changes in transport costs such as fuel, scheduled airfares and any other airline cost changes which are part of our contracts with airlines (and their agents), cruise ship operators and any other transport provider; to cost changes arising from government action such as changes in VAT or any other government imposed changes; and to changes in currency exchange rates and to dues, taxes or fees chargeable for services such as landing taxes or embarkation or disembarkation fees at ports and airports any or all of which may result in a variation of your holiday price. For changes to pricing after booking, we will absorb and you will not be charged for any increase equivalent to 2% of the price of your travel arrangements, which excludes insurance premiums and any amendment charges and/or additional services or travel arrangements. You will be charged for the amount over and above that, plus an administration charge of £1.00 per person together with an amount to cover agents’ commission. If this means that you have to pay an increase of more than 10% of the price of your travel arrangements (excluding any amendment charges and/or additional services or travel arrangements), you will have the option of accepting a change to another holiday if we are able to offer one (if this is of equivalent or higher quality you will not have to pay more but if it is of lower quality you will be refunded the difference in price), or cancelling and receiving a full refund of all monies paid to us, any amendment charges and/or additional services or travel arrangements. Should you decide to cancel for this reason, you must exercise your right to do so within 14 days from the issue date printed on your final invoice. There will be no change made to the price of your holiday within 30 days of your departure. Should the price of your holiday go down due to the changes mentioned above, by more than 2% of your holiday cost, then any refund due will be paid to you. However, please note that travel arrangements are not always purchased in local currency and some apparent changes have no impact on the price of your travel due to contractual and other protection in place. Travel Insurance We reserve the right to refuse or cancel a booking if you do not have personal travel insurance. We will treat any cancellation for this reason as a cancellation by you and the cancellation charges will be payable as set out below. Please read your policy details carefully and take them with you on holiday. It is your responsibility to ensure that the insurance you purchase is adequate and appropriate for your particular needs. We reserve the right to request full details of your insurance

policy however please note that we do not check insurance policies for suitability. You are responsible for indemnifying us in full in the event that we incur any losses or expenses arising out of your failure to take out adequate insurance cover. You are strongly advised to take out insurance which will cover any damage which may occur to property which belongs to other people and which may get damaged. Cancellation by You If you or any other member of your party decides to cancel your confirmed booking you must notify us in writing. Your notice of cancellation will only take effect when it is received in writing by us at our offices at Fred.\. Please note proof of postage (whether Royal Mail or e-mail) is not proof of receipt. You will be responsible for applicable cancellation charges up to the maximum shown below, unless otherwise advised. The cancellation charge detailed is calculated on the basis of the total cost payable by the person(s) cancelling excluding amendment charges which are not refundable in the event of the person(s) to whom they apply cancelling. :For River Cruises: 70 days or more 69 - 43 days 42 - 29 days 28 - 08 days 07 - 00 days

deposit only 40% 60% 80% 100%

If the deposit amount is more than the cancellation amount we will retain the full deposit as the cancellation charge. We therefore strongly recommend you take out suitable insurance to cover you for possible eventualities that would require you to cancel your holiday. Changes by You If you wish to change any part of your booking you must inform us in writing. Whilst we will do our best to assist, we cannot guarantee that we will be able to meet your requested change. All changes will be subject to any applicable rate changes or extra costs incurred as well as any costs incurred by ourselves and any costs or charges incurred or imposed by any of our suppliers. You should be aware that these costs could increase the closer to the departure date that changes are made and you should contact us as soon as possible. Where we are unable to assist you and you do not wish to proceed with the original booking we will treat this as a cancellation by you. A cancellation fee may be payable. Please note that is important at the time of booking to advise the names of travellers that match the name given on their passport. Failure to do so will usually result in a name change charge by the airline. Accuracy We endeavour to ensure that all the information and prices both on our website and in our brochures are accurate; however occasionally changes and errors occur and we reserve the right to correct prices and other details in such circumstances. You must check the current price and all other details relating to the arrangements that you wish to book before your booking is confirmed. Changes or cancellations by us As we plan your holiday arrangements many months in advance we may occasionally have to make changes or cancel your booking and we reserve the right to do so at any time. If we make a major change to your holiday, we will inform you or your travel agent as soon as reasonably possible if there is time before your departure. You will have the choice of either accepting the change of arrangements, accepting an offer of alternative travel arrangements of comparable standard from us if available (we will refund any price difference if the alternative is of a lower value), or cancelling your holiday and receiving a full refund of all monies paid. In some cases we will also pay compensation. These options don’t apply for minor changes. Examples of minor changes include alteration of your outward/return flights by less than 12 hours, changes to aircraft type, change of accommodation to another of the same or higher standard, changes of carriers. Please note that carriers such as airlines used in the brochure may be subject to change.

We will not cancel your travel arrangements less than 8 weeks before your departure date (10 weeks for a cruise holiday), except for reasons of force majeure or failure by you to pay the final balance. We may cancel your holiday before this date if, for example, the minimum number of clients required for a particular travel arrangement is not reached. If your holiday is cancelled you can either have a refund of all monies paid or accept an offer of alternative travel arrangements of comparable standard from us, if available (we will refund any price difference if the alternative is of a lower value). In some cases we will pay compensation (see below). If we cancel or make a major change we will pay compensation as detailed below except where the major change or cancellation arises due to reasons of force majeure. The compensation that we offer does not exclude you from claiming more if you are entitled to do so. Period before departure in Amount you will which we notify you receive from us ______________________________________________ 43 – 70 days 27 – 42 days 15 – 26 days 00 – 14 days

£20 per person £30 per person £40 per person £50 per person

Force Majeure We will not pay you compensation if we have to cancel or change your travel arrangements in any way because of unusual or unforeseeable circumstances beyond our control. These can include, for example, war, riot, industrial dispute, terrorist activity and its consequences, natural or nuclear disaster, fire, adverse weather conditions, epidemics and pandemics, unavoidable technical problems with transport. Our Responsibilities We are a Member of ABTA, membership number Y0128. We are obliged to maintain a high standard of service to you by ABTA’s Code of Conduct. We can also offer you an arbitration scheme for the resolution of disputes arising out of this contract. The scheme is arranged by ABTA and administered independently. It is a simple and inexpensive method of arbitration on documents alone with restricted liability on you for costs. The upper limit on claims is £5,000 per person and £25,000 per booking form. The scheme doesn’t apply to claims which are solely in respect of physical injury or illness or their consequences. It can however deal with claims which include an element of minor injury or illness subject to a limit of £1,500 on the amount the arbitrator can award per person in respect of this element. Your request for arbitration must be received by ABTA within eighteen months of the date of return from holiday. For injury and illness claims, you can request the ABTA Mediation Procedure and we have the option to agree to mediation. Further information on the Code and ABTA’s assistance in resolving disputes can be found on www.abta.com. Single Components If you have purchased a ‘single component’ i.e. Accommodation or transportation only, we will accept responsibility only for our own negligence e.g. If we have negligently mis-described the accommodation etc, or if we have been negligent in our choice of supplier. We will not be responsible for the negligence of our suppliers, their employees, servants or agents. Package Holidays Subject to these booking conditions, your holiday arrangements will be made or performed using reasonable skill and care. We will be responsible if our employees, servants or agents fail to make or perform your holiday arrangements using reasonable skill and care as long as they were acting within the course of their employment or carrying out work which we had asked them to do. We will not be responsible or pay compensation for any injury, illness, death, loss, damage, expense, cost or other claim of any description which results from: (a) the act(s) and/or omission(s) of the person(s) affected; (b) the act(s) and/or omission(s) of a third party not connected with the provision of the services contracted for and which were unforeseeable or unavoidable;

(c) (d)

unusual or unforeseeable circumstances beyond our control, the consequences of which could not have been avoided even if all due care had been exercised; or an event which either ourselves, our employees, agents or suppliers and subcontractors could not, even with all due care, have foreseen or forestalled.

The services and facilities included in your holiday will be deemed to be provided with reasonable skill and care if they comply with any local regulations which apply, or, if there are no applicable local regulations, if they are reasonable when compared to the local standards in practice. We limit the amount of compensation we may have to pay you if we are found liable under this clause: (a)

Loss of and/or damage to any luggage or personal possessions and money, the maximum amount we will have to pay you is £25 per person in total because you are assumed to have adequate insurance in place to cover any losses of this kind.

(b)

Our liability, except in cases involving death, injury or illness, shall be limited to a maximum of two times the cost of your travel arrangements. This maximum amount will only be payable where everything has gone wrong and you or your party has not received any benefit at all from your booking.

(c) Claims in respect of international travel by air, sea and rail, or any stay in a hotel: i. ii.

The extent of our liability will in all cases be limited as if we were carriers under the appropriate Conventions, which include The Warsaw/Montreal Convention (international travel by air); The Athens Convention (with respect to sea travel); The Berne/Cotif Convention (with respect to rail travel); The Paris Convention (with respect to hotel arrangements); and The Strasbourg Convention (CNLI) (with respect to travel on inland waterways). You can ask for copies of these Conventions from our offices. In addition, you agree that the operating carrier or transport company’s own ‘Conditions of Carriage’ will apply to you on that journey. When arranging transportation for you, we rely on the terms and conditions contained within these international conventions and those ‘Conditions of Carriage’. You acknowledge that all of the terms and conditions contained in those ‘Conditions of Carriage’ form part of your contract with us, as well as with the transport company and that those ‘Conditions of Carriage’ shall be deemed to be included by reference into this contract. When making any payment, we are entitled to deduct any money which you have received or are entitled to receive from the transport provider or hotelier for the complaint or claim in question.

Complaints If a problem occurs whilst you are abroad, you must inform the relevant supplier immediately so that the matter can be put right. If the supplier cannot resolve the problem to your satisfaction at the time, you must also contact us immediately by telephoning our offices so that we are given the opportunity to help. In the event that a complaint cannot be resolved at the time, you must write to us within 28 days of return to the UK quoting the original booking reference and giving all relevant information. PLEASE NOTE: Failure to take these steps will hinder our ability to resolve the problem and/or investigate it fully and in consequence, your rights under the contract may be affected. We regret we cannot accept liability for any claims which are not notified to ourselves and/or our suppliers strictly in accordance with this clause. Special Requests Any special requests must be advised to us at the time of booking. You should then confirm your requests in writing. Whilst every effort will be made by us to try and arrange your reasonable special requests, we cannot guarantee that they will be fulfilled. Failure to meet any special request will not be a breach of contract on our part unless the request has been specifically confirmed.

Refunds Any amounts due to you will be paid upon request within 28 days. Disabilities and Medical Problems We are not a specialist disabled holiday company, but we will do our utmost to cater for any special requirements you may have. If you or any member of your party has any medical problem or disability which may affect your stay, please provide us with full details by writing or emailing us, before we confirm your booking so that we can advise as to the suitability of your chosen arrangements if possible. Excursions Excursions or other tours that you may choose to book or pay for whilst you are on holiday are not part of your package holiday provided by us. Passport, Visa and Immigration Requirements and Health Formalities It is your responsibility to check and fulfil the passport, visa, health and immigration requirements applicable to your itinerary. You must check requirements for your own specific circumstances with the relevant Embassies and/or Consulates and your own doctor as applicable. Most countries now require passports to be valid for at least 6 months after your return date. If your passport is in its final year, you should check with the Embassy of the country you are visiting. For further information please contact the Passport Office on 0870 5210410 or visit www.passport.gov.uk. Special conditions apply for travel to the USA and all passengers must have individual machine readable passports. Please check www.usembassy.org.uk. For European holidays you should obtain a completed and issued form EHIC prior to departure. Up to date travel advice can be obtained from the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, visit www.fco.gov.uk. We do not accept any responsibility if you cannot travel because you have not complied with any passport, visa or immigration requirements. Delays and other Travel Information We regret we are unable to offer you any assistance should a delay disrupt your itinerary. Any airline or other transport provider concerned may however provide refreshments and/ or appropriate accommodation. We cannot accept liability for any delay which is due to any of the reasons set out in Force Majeure of these booking conditions. The latest flight timings will be shown on your tickets which will be dispatched to you approximately two weeks before departure. You should check your tickets very carefully immediately on receipt to ensure you have the correct flight times. If flight times change after tickets have been dispatched we will contact you as soon as we can to let you know. Under EU Law, you have rights in some circumstances to refunds and/or compensation from the airline in cases of denied boarding, cancellation or delay to flights. Full details of these rights will be publicised at EU airports and will also be available from airlines. Reimbursement in such cases is the responsibility of the airline and will not automatically entitle you to a refund of your holiday price from us. Guest Behaviour We reserve the right to terminate your booking arrangements with us immediately, should you or your party fail to conduct yourselves in an orderly manner. In the event of such termination our liability to you and/or your party will cease and you and/or your party will be required to leave your accommodation or other service immediately. We will have no further obligations to you and/or your party. Jurisdiction When you make a booking you guarantee that you have the authority to accept and do accept on behalf of your party the terms of these booking conditions. A contract will exist as soon as we issue our confirmation invoice. This contract is made on the terms of these booking conditions, which are governed by English Law, and the jurisdiction of the English Courts. You may however, choose the law and jurisdiction of Scotland or Northern Ireland if you wish to do so. Data Protection Full details of our data protection policy are available upon request.
