Paul Hardwick Head of Commercial
Fred. Olsen Travel Fred. Olsen Travel have been in business since 1988 and have grown steadily over the years into a diverse and multi-faceted travel and cruise agency, tour operation and general sales agent. Our retail shops started in East Anglia and we now have nine locations, two of which are in Norfolk. We also have a further five locations down on the south coast of England. In Norfolk we have an in store branch within the Jarrold Department Store and we also have our Thorpe Travel shop on Plumstead Road in Norwich. Having grown to a number of locations, we now serve thousands of loyal customers in booking their travel and cruises and have gained an incredible reputation for our high service standards, industry knowledge and expertise from our fantastic staff.
Like everyone, this year has been incredibly hard for all in travel as the pandemic and lockdown temporarily closed our retail branches and still restricts holidays and cruises throughout the World. We have been managing our business through this crisis and we are confident and optimistic that when travel can resume normally that demand for travel and holidays will be bigger than ever. Earlier this year we were saddened by the news that Travel Norwich Airport had ceased trading, however, we are delighted to get the opportunity to revive the brand and once again provide a specialist service for people wanting to travel from Norwich Airport. Whilst we were already selling holidays from Norwich in both of our Norfolk Branches we are using this opportunity to create a specialist focus on travelling from your local airport which we are sure people will want more than ever when they are planning their holidays for 2021 and beyond. We have also managed to create new roles and recruit two members of the original Travel Norwich Airport staff - Karen Gowing and Mark Heffer who will be joining us during October.
Both Karen and Mark will be fantastic additions to our existing team in Norwich and to celebrate the re-launch of the brand we have put together this magazine of offers and information for you. Plus we have some great offers available when you book your next holiday with Travel Norwich Airport in store at Jarrold Department Store, Norwich or at Thorpe Travel, Norwich. For your convenience you can see them in both Norwich branches, either in the city or on the outskirts. The plan is that Karen and Mark will job share at the moment and will work the following pattern: Mondays Karen will be at Thorpe Travel Tuesdays Karen will be at Jarrold Wednesdays Mark will be at Thorpe Travel Thursdays Mark will be at Jarrold Fridays Karen will be at Jarrold every other Friday from 19th October Karen joins our team on Monday 12th October whilst Mark will join on Wednesday 28th October after getting back from some Wintersun in Cyprus, one of very few European destinations still open without quarantine restrictions.
We have some fantastic launch offers for you, so it is a great time to book yourself something to look forward to...
When you book any holiday departing from Norwich Airport at a minimum value of £750pp, for 2 adults or more you can choose either: FREE airport parking* or FREE airport taxi transfers** PLUS, if you book a holiday greater than £1500pp you can also benefit from a FREE airport lounge pass*** to start your holiday off in style Terms & Conditions *FREE Airport Parking at Norwich Airport is available when you book any holiday for 2 of £750pp or more **FREE Airport Taxi Transfers available if you live within a 15 mile radius of Norwich Airport (excess mileage charge may apply if you live further than 15 miles from the Airport) ***FREE Airport Lounge Pass is also available when booking any holiday greater than £1500pp Offer is subject to availability or change and may be withdrawn at any time.

Mark Heffer I am Mark Heffer and have a daughter Alice who I brought up on my own since she was 4 yrs old and has now turned 28, so a very proud Dad, and I met my fiancée Debbie 5 years ago. My career in the travel industry started in 1979 with Air Anglia based at Norwich Airport in reservations, during my 40 plus years in travel I have worked for Airlines, a luxury long haul tour operator but predominantly independent travel agents. I pride myself in offering a quality service to each and every client, building a special rapport to ensure repeat business, which has resulted in amazing friendships over the years. My favourite place is Cyprus and particularly love Asimina Suites, Athena Royal and the Annabelle, coupled with the lovely restaurants that Paphos has to offer. I have been very fortunate to visit : Greece, Spain, Morocco, Cyprus, Canary Islands, Innsbruck, Copenhagen, Venice, Prague, Antigua, Barbados, Mauritius, Bahamas, Jamaica, New York and Dubai... so far! My top travel tip would be always eat at your favourite restaurant on your first and last night, relax and soak up the sun you’re on your well deserved holiday and enjoy those cocktails ! My most memorable experience was on a surprise birthday trip for Debbie to Venice, and we had the most stunning trip on a private water taxi across the lagoon direct to our amazing hotel the Ai Reali. I love the fact that every holiday enquiry is different and I deal with clients from every walk of life, ensuring that each and every customer has the holiday of a lifetime and the opportunity to make special memories that last a lifetime. I still have many places that I would love to visit including The Maldives, Zanzibar and the Far East.
Karen Gowing I am Karen Gowing, a mum of 4 and nanny of 8 (costs me a fortune). I haven’t always worked in travel but I’ve always enjoyed travelling. One day I was booking our family holiday to Disney World Florida, and I thought to myself what a lovely job this would be, helping to make other peoples dreams a reality. So I decided that when my youngest daughter started middle school I would look into becoming a travel agent. In 2007, I enrolled in City College Norwich to study travel & tourism. It was the best decision I made. I achieved a Distinction Star. Student of the year, achieving the highest score in 7 years. It was not because I was older and wiser, I struggled like everyone with some of the tasks, it was because I was extremely passionate and wanted to achieve my goal so badly. I went on to get my first job in travel in 2009 at Thomas Cook in Norwich, and from there I moved to Travel Norwich Airport where I worked until May this year. I have travelled to many places over the years including Spain, Tenerife, Majorca, Halkadiki, Amsterdam, Jersey (War tunnels and war history is a must), Gibraltar (England in the sun. I adore Gibraltar), Iceland (didn’t see the Northern Lights), Lapland, Disneyland Paris, Bulgaria, Turkey, Belgium, Egypt, Florida, Memphis, Maderia, Jamaica (this was my last trip in February).
I love every trip I take all for different reasons. Florida, as it was a fun family holiday. Memphis was a dream of mine as I am a huge music fan, particularly Elvis. I stayed at the Heartbreak Hotel which is now known as The GuestHouse at Graceland. Just across the road from the mansion. The Sun Studios and Gibson Guitar Museum are definitely a must, all the Soul & Motown history is just amazing. You also do not want to miss the ducks at the Peabody Hotel. I found Jamaica magical as my first Caribbean Holiday, made extra special by my partner proposing to me whilst we were there. I said yes, obviously. Next on my bucket list is Las Vegas. My fiancé and I were booked to stay at the Bellagio in June this year for my 50th birthday. Unfortunately, due to COVID-19 this was cancelled, so will have to go back on my list. I’d also like to do Route 66 and visit Malta. More cruises are also on my list of must dos, I have been on a couple of cruise ships NCL & MSC and hope to see many more in the future. The best thing about my job is meeting people, getting to know them & helping to make their dream holiday a reality. I can’t wait to get started on this new venture with Fred. Olsen Travel and do the job I love again sending local people on holiday from our local airport.
Both Mark and Karen cannot wait to see you again soon and catch-up with you. See back page for the branch contact details. Also, don’t forget the special offer available for holidays departing from Norwich Airport.
