After our successful Cooking Holiday debut in Tuscany in September 2018, this time we are in The Dordogne with sensational food ingredients and lovely wines. We will be cooking all the meals and taking it in turns to be in the kitchen so it won't be all work and no play! You don't have to do any cooking if you would rather not. We intend to forage the area and take in any open markets nearby of which there are quite a few.

We shall be doing some research before we go. As far as the cooking goes, have a look at what we have suggested, but bear in mind that we might “stray from the script” because the area is rich with diversity of food ingredients. What is better than visiting a local market and planning the evening dinner based on what we have purchased?

French markets are usually peppered with local farmers with a trailer groaning with muddy veg and some live poultry as well as specialist producers. Some years back Mark and Annie were in Normandy at a market and there was a man selling two types of Creme Fraiche and nothing else. That's France for you!

Bordeaux makes an excellent day trip and has an elegant 18th century centre where the narrow streets are lined with grand mansions. The city’s many attractions include the eye-catching cathedral, a 15th century bell tower and a beautiful formal park.

The surrounding countryside produces Bordeaux wines, and is the largest quality wine district in the world.
