WELCOME Through all of the work that the Community Foundation does, we strive for one outcome—IMPACT.

efforts in 2020; and this is just the beginning! Stay tuned for more community-wide engagement with our first ever Community Giving Day set to take place in 2022! We are grounded by our vision—a vibrant region with opportunity for all—and it’s a statement that’s much more than just a hope for the community’s future. It’s a vision that our nonprofit partners, donors and collaborators have embraced as well.

The last few years have challenged us to thoroughly reassess the needs of this community and how we can best bring about positive change. We are fortunate to be engaged with so many donors, partners and residents who want to make a great community even better—it’s a continuing process that will help the Community Foundation and its nonprofit partners have lasting impact in countless ways that benefit all those we serve. From a $10 million, 10-year commitment to equity to our continued

In the following pages, we share a report that showcases the breadth of Community Foundation investments in the community, and how we work with others to meet needs in ways that bring the entire community together for the good of all. Please take a moment to explore the numbers—and give some thought to the many stories behind them. I think you’ll see how the community’s continuing support has helped build lasting impact through our collective work.

In March 2020, the Community Foundation and United Way of the Mohawk Valley launched the Mohawk Valley COVID-19 Response Fund, a single community-wide fund to support organizations responding to human services needs in Herkimer and Oneida counties. These numbers tell the story of a community coming together to lift up those nonprofits whose work during this crisis was essential.

INSPIRING GIVING

During a time of unthinkable need, those people we call heroes step up to help those around them. Throughout the course of the pandemic, we witnessed the heart, generosity, and empathy of heroes in our community and elsewhere who were willing to help those in greatest need.

FINDING SOLUTIONS

In 2020, our organization took on one of its most significant and important initiatives to date, racial equity and social justice. Like all of the Community Foundation’s initiatives, this is a long-term commitment to address a longstanding community challenge. We will do our part to ensure that all investments in the community are viewed through an equity lens and benefit all.

It’s work to date has set the stage for the next phase of the initiative, with the Community Foundation engaging with residents and nonprofit partners to ensure that their voices and needs are reflected. Long term, the initiative will collectively advance equity and justice for all and make sure resources are available to those who need them most.
