orocco M 2019
I thought I would take you all on a little journey of our trip to Morocco earlier this year. I had been wanting to shop in Marrakesh for quite some time, and as much as I love going on buying trips, I genuinely hate being away from Joel and the kids. So, when I asked them if they would want to spend their spring break in Morocco, they were all on board! Traveling is such a huge part of our lives, and we try to take the kids everywhere we go, they have almost as many stamps in their passports as we do... and I love that!! They are up for going anywhere, and love to explore just as much as Joel and I. Traveling and seeing the world together is one of the greatest joys in my life. I wanted to spend as much time with them as possible so I packed all of my shopping into 2 days... YUP! I was moving quick! I bought from local artisans, the glorious souks of Marrakesh, and the local flea market. It was probably one of my most challenging buying trips as there was not a lot of larger furniture that I was hoping to find... but I still managed to fill up an entire 40 ft container!! Unfortunately, it took almost 5 months to arrive to California... but it was well worth the wait! I am having so much fun designing with all of these new beauties and as I do, I am reminded of this amazing trip spent with my loves, and doing what I am so every passionate about: bringing unique pieces back to the Found inventory.
With love, Jeni
We stayed in a traditional
Riad [riyÄ á¸?] noun
a moroccan house or palace with an interior garden or courtyard
and loved every square inch of it!
I was so inspired by the architecture and the simplistic details everywhere... the texture of the walls, the tile work, the shadows cast by the lights... pure beauty.
On our first day we went to Rue Yves Saint Laurent and toured the The Majorelle Garden. A must see for sure! And then back to the Meddina and Gueliz where I officially fell in love with Marrakesh!
The tile work and architecture is breathtaking...
Joel and the kids headed to the coast and I hit the Souks. I had the most amazing translator join me and we hit the ground running!
I met the most amazing dealers, and made connections for buying even when I can’t take a trip over! Look at all of these beautiful rugs!!!
To now see these beauties fitting in so perfectly in California just makes me so happy!
Casa Romantica, San Clemente
just a few of the rugs I picked up...
The detail and beauty poured into the artisanal pieces sold in the souks of Marrakesh is definitely a site to see. One in which I will never forget.
My goal is entire shop And Yes, I
always to find the vintage pieces, but can you believe in this this Beni Ourain rug was the only vintage piece he had! I swooped it up!
And now here it is in action
Walking through the Jemaa el-Fnaa
This man! He might not love this part of our trips as much as I do...
but he’s always supportive....mentally and physically!!! This was one of so many heavy packages he schlepped!
I love seeing the things I bought and picturing the face of the artisan I bought them from !
They say it’s easy to get lost in the souks, but I can honestly say I never did! It was a world I felt very comfortable in, and never lost my way.
From Marrakesh to California...
I fell in love with these lanterns instantly...
Back to family time! We hiked the Atlas Mountains with a local guide...
And had the most delicious homemade lunch in the home of a Berber family. Whenever we travel we try to immerse ourselves in the culture as much as possible especially so the kids can learn and experience how other cultures live.
Hopefully they will remember these experiences their entire lives.
We made lots of new friends...
and brought back so many beautiful pieces!
We spent a beatuiful day at Scarabeo Camp exploring the grounds, visitng with the camels on property, and having a delicious lunch. We didn’t stay the night, but it’s a “must do” on our next trip, because sleeping in this dusty luxury sounds like heaven.
and back to shopping!

Did I mention how much I love these lights?
This father + son duo made for one of the best buying experiences I have ever had. They were so grateful for all of my purchases and how much I loved their beautiful pieces. We may not have spoken the same language but it did not stop us from communicating, laughing and understanding each other. They made me tea, they showed me all of their beautiful creations, and they smiled when I bought it all! They presented me with this beautiful rug at the end as a gift...I will cherish this experience forever.
If you made it this far...Thank You! I wan with all of the aftermath and logistics that go another, but let’s just say, it’s A LOT! I l my family, and I hope that my kids see me w greatest accomplishments in life are these face passion {found} with them is a blessing I d
