800-253-PENS | 10 Warren Street New York, NY 10007 | www.FountainPenHospital.com

On the cover A Homage

to Rudyard Kipling

Writers Limited Edition

Rudyard Kipling (1865–1936) was an English journalist, short-story writer, poet, and novelist. He is most famous for “The Jungle Book” (1894), “If” (1895) and “Kim” (1901). He is regarded as a major innovator in the art of the short story. Kipling was one of the most popular writers in the United Kingdom in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The overall color is inspired by the cover of the first US edition of “The Jungle Book.” The engraving on the cap top ring and cone ring are quotes from Rudyard Kipling’s autobiography “Something of Myself” (1937). The clip top is in the shape of a wolf, inspired by the wolf pack from “The Jungle Book”. The overall shape is inspired by the Ankus of “The King’s Ankus” story from the second Jungle book. The nib reminds one of the globe which Kipling collected in his office and symbolizes Kipling as a globetrotter. The Fountain Pen is 146 size, piston fill, with an 18kt gold nib, rhodium coated. The cap and barrel are in “jungle” green precious resin with fittings in platinum coating. The 18kt solid gold nib, with special engraving, is available in M or F widths. The piston-filled fountain pen is limited to 9,800 pieces; the ballpoint pen to 10,300; the capless rollerball is limited to 8,600 pieces and the set with the fountain pen, ballpoint pen and mechanical pencil, 0.7mm, is limited to 1,300 sets.

149 Flex

The renown Meisterstück Yellow Gold 149 carries the new Flex nib made exclusively from gold with special flexible features that allow a variety of writing styles and delivers a remarkable writing sensation. Due to the slenderness of the tines and the special geometry of the nib point, a high level of precision can be achieved whilst writing. The Flex nib wings close rapidly when writing pressure is reduced, an important characteristic for many calligraphy styles. Variation of line breadth is achieved by exerting pressure, with varying breadths producing different hues of color on paper. Piston Fill. 149 Flex Fountain Pen

A Tulip for Team Fox Solidarity Edition for Parkinson’s Research Around the world, an estimated six million people live with the effects of Parkinson’s disease – a degenerative neurological disorder with no known cure. Now Montegrappa is joining the effort to end Parkinson’s disease by partnering with the Michael J. Fox Foundation, whom Bloomberg recently labelled “the fulcrum on which Parkinson’s research pivots.” The sculpted pocket clip of the Tulip for Team Fox is inspired by the global symbol of Parkinson’s disease awareness and designed by Australian fine artist, Timothy John, who was himself diagnosed with the condition in 2017. John felt that a prestige pen could provide a poignant, lasting way to draw attention to Parkinson’s, while also raising funds for the cause. The red tulip was formally adopted as the global symbol of Parkinson’s consciousness in 2005. Few figures have worked harder to highlight Parkinson’s disease than Michael J. Fox. Since revealing his own diagnosis in 1998, the foundation he founded has raised more than $800 million for Parkinson’s research.

B

A portion of proceeds from all purchases benefit The Michael J. Fox Foundation’s efforts to foster cooperation in the scientific community and accelerate a cure for Parkinson’s disease. The collection’s duotone coloring and a distinctive profile offer an innovative way for pen owners and gift seekers to show empathy for Parkinson’s patients and contribute to the search for a cure. The Michael J. Fox Foundation’s signature orange livery provides the color reference for the pen’s barrel, section and a Montegrappa insignia set into a cap of tulip red. The fountain pen is available with a stainless-steel nib available in EF, F, M, B, and Stub widths. Cartridge/ converter fill with the converter included.

Montegrappa Fortuna Caduceus Collection Particular for its eye-catching signature clip, showing a short staff embraced by two intertwined serpents surmounted by wings, the Caduceus symbol is nowadays mostly known as the symbol of physicians, pharmacists, the US Army Medical Corps and medicine in general. It does possess, however, a more poetic meaning, to be found in its ancient Greek and Roman origins. Mythological lore tells that the metal rod was that of Hermes, messenger of the gods, who bore it as a symbol of peace and inviolability with the spread of wings representing the process of holistic healing. Montegrappa’s offering comes with this very wish for peace and good health. The fountain pen nib is in stainless steel, etched with the classic Montegrappa filigree pattern, and is available in M, F, and B widths. Cartridge/ converter (included) fill.

Pen

Fruit of appreciation to those who give so much to shape our children’s futures

D

The Teachers Pen by Montegrappa delivers an appreciative embrace and a message of optimism and unity. ONE child, ONE Teacher, ONE book and ONE pen can change the world. For those who give so much to our children’s futures, gestures of appreciation should be more than token. Inside a book-shaped case, a message of hope and a symbol of gratitude are ingrained into a professionalclass writing instrument designed to perform lasting work. A gift that keeps on giving, addressed to the best teacher in the world, in a gift case with the air of a handbound book. A new, Italian-made pen uses classroom ambience and apple motifs to give teachers a meaningful and lasting token of thanks. Although the tradition of giving apples to teachers may have subsided, the fruit remains a popular motif for all kinds of trinkets given at occasions like end-of-term, graduation and National Teachers Day. The pen not only offers the writing pleasure expected from Venetian handcrafting, it even uses a silhouette that was popular in classrooms across Italy for more than 80 years. The fountain pen is available with a stainless-steel nib available in EF, F, M, B, and Stub widths. Cartridge/converter fill with the converter included. Fountain Pen Rollerball Ball Pen

Limited Edition

Blue Moon and Rainbow

D

Visconti continues to use and to perfect the skeleton technique for its most precious pens. The iconic Watermark Demo Silver, which won the best pen design of 2017 by “Le Stylographe,” is enriched by two new models, the Blue Moon and Rainbow. A dynamic pattern of a stylized V, the company’s logo, is perforated in a sterling silver tube as the beginning of a process that requires several phases of manufacturing until obtaining the final process. The Watermark is a pen that demonstrates one of Visconti’s greatest skills, the artisanal craftsmanship of the cut-out filigree, an ability to achieve intricate details with absolute precision. This new creation recalls the Visconti logo like paper filigree, repeating the logo along the body and cap of the pen. The design of the pen identifies strongly with the Visconti brand, much like a watermark serves as an identification pattern in paper. The Watermark Demonstrator is available in rollerball or fountain pen and limited to 888 pieces. The fountain pen features the patented Visconti Double Reservoir Power Filler, a unique filling system that allows a greater ink capacity and safe usage during air flights. The fountain pen is further enhanced with Visconti’s large, flexible “perfect touch” 18kt gold nib, available in M, F, and 1.3mm Stub, and the XF and B is offered in the 23kt Palladium Dreamtouch nib.

Visconti Voyager 30

Limited Edition Only 300 of each Worldwide

In celebration of Visconti’s 30th anniversary, Visconti has revived one of their most iconic models, the Voyager. First launched in 1993. Visconti has modernized the Voyager by adding the Ponte Vecchio bridge clip, and keeping with tradition, reinstated some classic Visconti elements to this relaunch. The pen is turned from high quality ebonite, a material commonly used for many vintage Visconti pens. A Visconti travelling inkwell made from the same ebonite is packaged with each pen. The result is the Voyager 30, the perfect synthesis of tradition, grace, and originality. Ebonite is one of the first materials ever to be used to create fountain pens. The material is strong, yet soft to the touch and is perfect for daily use and long writing sessions. The Voyager 30 is available in two editions of 300 fountain pens each: Reddish/ Black Ebonite with Palladium Plated sterling silver trim, and Orange/Brown Ebonite in yellow gold plating over sterling silver trim (vermeil). The fountain pen features Visconti’s double reservoir power filler system, and is further enhanced with Visconti’s large 18kt gold, flexible “perfect touch” nib, available in F, M, and 1.3mm Stub widths, and Visconti’s large 23kt Palladium Dreamtouch nib in XF and B widths.

A Atelier Lacquer Collection A

The Atelier Natural Lacquer collection is among the finest that La Maison S.T. Dupont has to offer. Dupont was inspired to recreate its classic designs – its master lacquerers use authentic Chinese lacquer that is hand-gathered and blended like wine. Hand-applied in layers using an age-old technique called “Popoté,” the lacquer has a sheen and depth that no synthetic can equal, a silky pearl-like feel, and a high resistance to scratches and heat. For the Atelier collection, Dupont engraved its vintage script logo on the pens’ band. The date 1953 and the Dupont ‘winged wheel’ symbol is finely etched on each piece to note the founding date of the Faverges workshop. All Dupont Chinese lacquer products carry an engraved tree leaf symbol. The numbered collection is offered in beautiful blue or warm brown Chinese lacquer with gleaming gold-plated accents. Dupont now offers the Line D Atelier writing instruments in a large size in all modes: fountain pen with Dupont’s finest 14kt gold nib available in M, F, XF, and B. Cartridge/converter fill, with the converter included, the collection is completed with a matching convertible rollerball and twist ball pen.

Line D Windsor Collection The new Windsor Collection draws its design from the Georgian and Palladian styles popular in 18th Century Britain, establishing cleaner lines and a more symmetric look. The name of the collection is a tribute to the Line 2 lighter’s decor, inspired by an original lighter specifically made for the Duke of Windsor in a special travel case in the 1940s. The new S.T. Dupont Line D Windsor is characterized by a strong brand symbol – the blazon on the clip. It signifies 145 years of pride and family history of S.T. Dupont and acts as the corporate seal. The blazon also highlights the legendary lacquering know-how of the brand. The top of the cap features the ‘D’ of S.T. Dupont for immediate recognition. To echo the famous ‘ping’ of the S.T. Dupont lighter, the distinctive sound of the cap clicking when opening or closing the pen is now a unique brand element. Line D’s curved shape and soft lines provide a simple, timeless elegance. Its perfect proportions and well- balanced design provide excellent writing comfort in the hand. Of course, each Line D pen is 100% handcrafted in France with precious materials – the natural black lacquer finish is adorned with palladium-plated fittings and the Blue Windsor is adorned with gold-plated fittings. The Line D writing instruments are available in a fountain pen with 14kt gold nib, available in M, F, XF, and B widths, and the collection is available with a twist-action ball pen and convertible capped rollerball.

Duo Cart Collection The original 1950s era DUO CART is famous for being the first pen with the dual cartridge and the hooded nib. Streamlining characterized the design of that era, so the Aurora Design Department, reinterpreting the style of that period, designed a fountain pen with the typical 50s tapered shape design in an elegant package supplied with a customized ink, a converter and two cartridges. Outside a vintage illustration. The fountain pen features a gold or chrome plated cap enhanced with a Medium width gold-plated or chrome steel hooded nib. Bellezza Mystery Filler Forged Carbon

Limited Edition of 888 fountain pens and 888 rollerballs

Cooperation between Pineider and Carbon Dream led to the making of the first pen ever made in Forged Carbon. Pineider has produced the mold and perfected the technology required to adapt Forged Carbon for writing implements. What is traditionally known as carbon fiber is, in actual fact, a fabric of thin fibers held together by a resin. It is lightweight and resistant but it has many limitations, especially if it is used for writing implements. For example, difficulty in creating complex curves or in creating different inner and outer profiles. Forged carbon resolves these problems and many others experienced by carbon fiber. Forged composite material forgoes weaving, using casually arranged fibers mixed with resin instead, which it forms in a heated press at high pressure. The resulting compound is strong in every direction without the additional cost or complexity of having to add more than one layer of material the way you need to do with woven carbon fibers. If an indiscriminate composition of fibers gives you cause for concern regarding its reliability, relax: a large part of the work in developing Forged Composite material has involved making sure that the end product is extremely strong. A further aesthetic bonus of casual fibers is that every end product is as unique as a snowflake.

B

Mystery Filler: Pineider has enriched the plunger with a mechanism that allows the user to conceal the activation case back inside the barrel after filling the pen in order to prevent the filling system from opening accidentally. The mysterious filler! The 14kt gold nib is ultra-flexible and available in XF, F, M, B, and Stub widths. Pineider has also invented a new pen closure system capable of combining the pleasure of the screw cap with the immediacy and security of the magnetic closure. Fountain Pen Rollerball

Pineider FIRENZE 1774 Avatar UR Demonstrator Collection After revolutionizing the world of writing with the Avatar UR, which has resolved the problem of accidental breakage with a material instantly conjuring up an image of celluloid, Pineider now proudly presents the transparent version which uses an even more advanced formula of Ultra Resin. Transparent pens were known as “demonstrators” in the 1940s because they were used to illustrate the pen’s internal mechanism from salesmen to pen dealers and the public. Manufacturing transparent pens is costly because it is fairly difficult to polish a pen on the inside, so even the smallest flaw tends to be visible. Transparency allows one not only to see the pen’s mechanism but also to monitor its ink level. Pineider fitted the pens with a simple “word gauge” that allows you to monitor the ink level and thus avoid being left... high and dry! UltraResin is extremely firm and its outstanding specifications mean that it is superior even to celluloid, the writing industry’s traditional material. Not only is it virtually as hard as metal, it is also so unbelievably shock-resistant that one might almost call it unbreakable and it is resistant to oil, ink, electricity, high and low temperatures, ultraviolet rays and the elements. Pineider’s engineers have also worked hard on the aesthetic aspect, producing a luxury product with a gleaming, polished surface and a deep mother-of-pearl effect, with marbled colors, with deep and equally transparent single colors. And last but not least, we should not forget its resistance to heat, celluloid’s weak spot, which makes Ultra Resin a material for all seasons and for any kind of climate, be it tropical or near-Arctic. The fountain pen is fitted with a large, semi-flexible N6 nib, available in M and F widths, while the rollerball and the ballpoint are also transparent with gel technology and ink level monitor. Cartridge/converter fill with the converter included.

Loclen Electa Collection Based in Venice, Italy, Loclen’s goal is to satisfy anyone who is passionate about pens by focusing on creating extraordinary writing instruments that feature both innovative designs and exceptional quality in a distinctive, functional pen for everyday usage. The Electa Collection represents Loclen’s most technologically advanced writing instrument, each Fountain Pen being machine turned from a solid block of industrial grade brass, available in three distinct finishes: Ruthenium, Solid Raw Brass and Brushed Chrome. The Electa’s innovative design includes an ink view window cut out on each side of the barrel so the ink level can be revealed as well as a brass ring on top of the barrel that operates the Piston converter. The highlight of the pen is the ingenious Vibration Absorbing System (VAS) created by Loclen engineers to block the vibrations of the nib, when writing, from being transferred to the barrel and the writer’s hand. The writer won’t feel these vibrations because they are stopped by the three rubber rings that divide the barrel from the front section which make the front section more flexible than any other pen on the market. Each fountain pen is enhanced with a #5 Iridium Steel JOWO nib in five widths: EF, F, M, B, and 1.1mm Stub and features a captured converter filling system.

Conklin Duragraph Collection The Conklin Pen Company is recognized as being one of the first companies to add the feature of true mobility to daily writing. In 1923, the Duragraph model was launched, and shortly afterwards was considered by many to be the “definitive” pen. The model was named by combining the words “durable” and “graph”—“Duragraph”—created to last as an heirloom to serve many generations. The new Duragraph collection brings a fresh, modern style to this timeless oversized flat top design. Crafted from quality, handmade resin, the Duragraph is substantial in size, yet not so large to be unwieldy in the hand. Offered in a choice of seven classic finishes. The Duragraph pays tribute to the classic designs of yesteryear. The cap top is embellished with the “Conklin Est. 1898” logo and the cap band is engraved with the famous Duragraph model script font with three Conklin Crescent logos on either side of the model name. The stainless steel nib, which is available in a choice of Fine, Medium, Stub, and Omniflex widths, offers the ideal choice for your individual handwriting style. The cap top mounted clip allows the pen to sit low in the pocket, making this model a more practical choice for everyday use. The fountain pen fills via cartridge or the included converter.

Esterbrook Franklin D. Roosevelt

Limited Edition

FDR is the third installment in the Esterbrook Presidential Series that pays homage to some of the greatest U.S. Presidents, many of whom also wrote with an Esterbrook pen while in office. Franklin Delano Roosevelt served as Commander-in-Chief from March 1933 to April 1945, the longest presidential tenure in American history. During his 12 years in office, Roosevelt accomplished perhaps more than any resident of the White House before or since. Leading the country out of the Great Depression and responding to the rise of Japan and Germany during WW II made President Roosevelt a defining figure in American history. The pens are solid brass layered in rich navy-blue lacquer and engraved with Roosevelt’s famous signature. A silver-plated central band features the same F.D.R. logo used on original campaign buttons from the period. The cap top holds a facsimile coin embossed with the Presidential Seal from 1933, the year FDR took office.
