Verolme 800H Modified®
Materials
Verolme®’s own material developed to prevent the occurrence of Stress Relaxation Cracking, which may occur in equipment operating in high temperature environments (550 - 750°C or 1.022 - 1.382°F). Development took place in close collaboration with research institutes as well as end customers. The Verolme 800H Modified® philosophy not only constitutes of additional material specifications, but also comprises additional requirements for handling, welding, heat treatment, etc. To date we have fabricated over 4.000 metric tons of Verolme 800H Modified® equipment to the full satisfaction of our customers.
Special equipment requires the best available materials. To have access to those materials Verolme® has teamed up with leading suppliers. Our procurement strategy is based on knowhow, quality, reliability and competitiveness. Materials that we regularly process are high-end carbon steels, low alloy steels, stainless steels, clad steels, nickel alloys, copper alloys, zirconium, titanium etc. Our Zirconium and Titanium projects, some with heavy wall thickness, are proof that we have the skills and capabilities to deal with the most exotic materials.
Welding
Engineering
Verolme® Special Equipment has invested in the most advanced welding equipment and welding techniques known in the industry. We comply with the highest welding-standards to ensure the quality of our products. Our high tech welding equipment is capable of welding thicknesses upto 250 mm. Various welding techniques for the fabrication of high-end pressure equipment are in house: ESW (electro slag welding), FCAW (flux cored arc welding), HWGTAW (hot wire TIG welding), etc. We have successfully welded heavy wall Titanium grade 5 as one of the few in the world, proving we take on any welding challenge. For the fabrication of heat exchangers we deploy high tech orbital welding equipment as well as state of the art hydraulic expansion tools.
One of Verolme®’s most valuable assets is its engineering capability. Our team of skilled engineers contributes to the development of process equipment and provides valuable insight, know-how, and advice to our customers. We have extensive experience with the use of ‘exotic’ materials and manufacturing equipment in the high temperature, high pressure, and corrosion range. • • • •

History 1946 – 1983 Established by Cornelis Verolme in Rotterdam, Verolme grows to become the largest shipbuilder in the Netherlands.
Marine scrubber
Extremely long tube bundle
1983 Verolme’s shipbuilding business collapses. Start of two new innovative companies: ‘Verolme Machinefabriek IJsselmonde’, a machine manufacturing company, and ‘Verolme Montage IJsselmonde’, a construction company. 1987 Verolme Machinefabriek IJsselmonde is transformed into a professional equipment manufacturer. The company is split into ‘Verolme Machinefabriek’ and ‘Verolme Apparatenbouw’, a high-end equipment manufacturer. 1998 VSE fabricates the first products in Verolme 800H Modified® material with unique product characteristics. 2002 Verolme Apparatenbouw is relaunched as Verolme® Special Equipment (VSE).
High pressure column
2006 In addition to the oil & gas industry and (petro) chemical industry, VSE starts to focus on manufacturing high-end equipment for the polysilicon industry. 2006 – 2007 VSE enters into a technical partnership with a US customer in the polysilicon industry. 2009 In april 2009 the company moves to its new facilities in Moerdijk.
Modern workshop
Unique Selling Points Verolme® has demonstrated excellence in the design, fabrication and welding of high-end process equipment. Usually our products are used at high pressure, high temperatures and in highly aggressive/corrosive environments. This requires exotic materials and heavy wall thicknesses. We continuously focus on innovation and quality in close cooperation with various strategic and leading material suppliers. Verolme® Special Equipment can quickly respond to emergency situations and is able to fabricate equipment within short delivery windows.
2015 Verolme® becomes part of Bencis Capital. 2017 Completion of a large new build project in China as well as the successful welding of a heavy wall Titanium grade 5 subsea pressure hull. 2018 PTD (Pressure Thermal Dynamics B.V.) established as holding company 2018 Logan Industries acquired by PTD 2019 Schelde Exotech acquired by PTD
