FURNISHING

STYLE At Four Hands, we’re driven by profound curiosity and a love of creative experimentation. We believe the push of modern materials against the pull of traditional forms creates the purposeful paradox of great design. At High Point, we unveiled 300 new pieces. From stand-out materials that offer a found feel to dining, upholstery, and lighting trends that cater to modern living, we re-invented classics, and in the process, unearthed new trends. As we share top picks from the big show, we hope to leave you inspired. Come along with us to find the ideal relationship between shape and color, detail and texture — renewing traditions without the rules. This is furnishing style.

MATERIALS We love the way a new material makes a big look. Fearlessly mixing materials in a space creates a found feel, in which each object offers a unique history — perhaps an adventure — to pull a room together, tell a story, and spark a conversation.

GREER COFFEE TABLE IMAR-70-MBR Airy underpinnings and a glass top create a true architectural element that provides a pop of on-trend metallic and lightens a room.

OPEN MEDIA CONSOLE - WAXED BLACK CIRD-110 An open concept brings modern geometry into the mix. Waxed black iron in beautiful repetition creates linear interest for storing media or treasured objects.

KILIM COFFEE TABLE CIRD-W9 Traditional kilim rugs are re-purposed to top a functional coffee table, ottoman, or bench. Tribal elements provide a striking accent without overpowering.

VAUGHN MEDIA CONSOLE UWES-043 Textural oak with a soft hand and smooth touch mixes antiqued mirror, iron framing, and touch-open doors that skip handles in favor of clean design.

AMELIE 6 DRAWER IN RUBBED BLACK VPTN-004B Centuries-old craftsmanship and an enchanting serpentine shape moves the eye with warm acacia wood overlaid in wire-brushed, black glaze.

BRONSON LARGE END TABLE CIRD-P9 Reclaimed pine parquet top is interrupted with iron lines that form this table’s base. The hexagon shape is striking alone or in multiples.

FELIX BAR CART IMAR-69 This slim bar cart is perfectly scaled for smaller spaces. A matte brass finish mixed with a white marble top keeps things neat and on-trend.

EVER NESTING TABLES IMAR-72 High functionality tables get dressed up as hard marble graces softly curved, nesting legs. In matte brass with white marble or hammered gray with black marble.

CARRINGTON CABINET CIRD-Z6 Modern storage with an old-world, farmhouse touch. Metal mesh doors in a natural, iron tone play with gray wood, painted and polished to a soft shine.

THEORY 6 DOOR BOOKCASE ISD-0137 A book case with mullioned glass doors framed in cool gray, weathered wood. All doors open in one direction for old-world storage with a new twist.

SUKI MEDIA WALL VHAD-F188 A burnished, hand-rubbed finish creates high-low contrasts across mid-century modern shaping, accented by antique brass hardware.

DANNY MEDIA CONSOLE CIMP-7U Modern media storage meets mid-century design. Rolling doors add striking vertical lines while splayed-legs add visual interest and refinement.

DINING DETAILS This year’s dining shapes are lighter, less bulky, more flexible for modern living. On-trend tables are scaled for smaller spaces, or hide a talent for grand entertaining — all in a tempting new mix of textures and tones.

MARREN DINING TABLE VCNS-F019 Black lavastone with a mitered edge creates a delightful contrast to a parson’s style wood base finished in soft gray.

CHARLIE 87 EXTENSION DINING TABLE CIMP-96A-BPFOW A natural-toned rectangle of reclaimed pine over fresh white legs and refractory style extension offers farmhouse appeal.

CINTRA EXTENSION DINING TABLE VCND-17-4237 This round reclaimed table extends to an oval with a butterfly extension leaf, over an architectural base in appealingly distressed layers of white paint.

SYLVAN DINING TABLE CIMP-8T Burnished, wire-brushed oak and a distinctive Y-shaped stretcher is offset by antiqued iron with brass undertones and nailhead details.

FITZ CHAIR CKEN-F3Y-388 Invitingly curved, chalk-white nubuck has subtle, horizontal channeling plus squared off, repetitive lines for alluring negative — and positive — spaces.

ATWATER CHAIR CKEN-E8Y-377 Danish modern design is played out in tapered, almond-toned hardwood. Neatly neutral linen offers a just-right combination of comfort and sophistication.

PLATEAU COCKTAIL ROUND OTTOMAN CKEN-E6Y-384 Dramatically tufted, this oversized cocktail ottoman demands attention with a round hardwood plinth base and rich tobacco top-grain leather.

SWIVEL WING CHAIR - FINN CHARCOAL CKEN-C2-381 A modern take on the wing chair is slip covered and full of surprises. Sit down to discover a little extra in the form of a swivel.

LUCILLE DINING BENCH CABT-36 Perfect for dining or at the end of a bed, this bench features an updated blue and white batik fabric with delicate, traditional Swedish routed legs.

MAXX SWIVEL CHAIR CKEN-F4Z-XX17 This modern take on the classic library chair is covered in distressed black top-grain leather and mounted on a smooth swivel base of weathered oak.

GOLD ANTIQUE MERCURY (LINEAR) PENDANT IHYA-018 Hand-blown glass with an acid-washed lacquer gives off a beautiful, amber-gold glow. A truly artisan-made, one-of-a-kind fixture made for a long dining table or bar.

CHARLOTTE CHANDELIER CIRD-Y9 Floating gracefully above rustic woods or industrial metals, an elegant finished frame and smoked-glass crystals give this chandelier a modern edge.

GARRICK PENDANT - ANTIQUE BRASS CVOL-38 A cool concrete dome seems to hover in an antique-plated metal ring. Get the casual look of concrete plus an elegant pop of metal.

CONCRETE MASON PENDANT CVOL-33 Clear glass topped with concrete, mango wood, and a natural mango wood socket cover adds unique sparkle, especially when massed over a kitchen island or entryway.

DUDUK CHAIR CBKO16-AZ0000 “When I traveled for the first time in Indonesia in 1972, I noticed the strong Dutch influence in the language, architecture and furniture. Later, Rudy and I went back many times to buy Dutch colonial furni-ture. This chair with a kind of naive Art Deco influence was bought by us in 1997, and it stayed in my office. Now, we asked our craftsmen to make an exact replica. We say, “Silahkan Duduk” … take a seat.” — Rudy Sr. & Rudy Jr.

THE CHISELED TOP TABLE CVT-0545

“The Shenandoah valley is well known for bluestone. Working on our new house on top of a mountain ridge, I was inspired to design this heavy table. All solid, it weighs a ton — so our craftsmen had to come up with a clever way to attach a thinner, solid top to the chiseled sides. Great job!” — Rudy, Sr.

THE 1500 KILOMETER TABLE CVT-0558

“It’s pretty easy: Leave by truck from Holland, drive 1500 kilometers to Kecskemet, Hungary, be there at 5 am on the flea market and make sure you buy before other dealers arrive. That’s how we got this more than 120-year-old X-framed table. To avoid weekly trips, we asked our craftsmen to make an exact replica.” — Rudy Jr.

THE SAND TIMER TABLE CVT-0542 “Medieval sailors liked marine sandglasses since the motion of the ship did not affect their accuracy. We could tell you this huge version was designed for a monster ship, but it would not be true. My brother Frederik and me created it during a late wine session. Take your time to enjoy it!” — Rudy Jr.

THE JIGSAW PUZZLE SIDEBOARD CVT-0541 “It was the color of the patina that made me buy a pile of sticks and planks from a dealer near Sundsvall. Sweden. Patience and craftsmanship paid off, as we ended up with an eighteenth century Gustavian cabinet! My compliments to our craftsmen who rebuilt the original first, and later managed to make an exact replica.” — Rudy Jr.

RUDY JUNIOR’S OFFICE TABLE CVT-0535

“I found a Beijing style Ming dining table in a small courtyard on my first trip in Hebei province. It was over 200 years old with amazing woodworking joints and no glue or nails. I kept it in my office for 11 years, and now we asked our craftsmen to make an exact replica. Enjoy my table!” — Rudy Jr.

THE SHIPSHEWANA COFFEE TABLE CVT-0561

“We bought our first vintage sliding fire door on the Shipshewana flea market in Indiana in 1997. Made out of zinc, they made great coffee tables. Now, we asked our craftsmen to create the same look in brass, carefully bending each edge and hammering thousands of nails! Great job, and great table.” — Rudy Sr.

THE NECKLACE TABLE CVT-0533 “Oh, you take the top off and fold the base, than you walk to the next village. That is how Soufian, our translator explained the use of a table used by traveling necklace salesmen for display. Since we liked them and they were easy to pack we bought about 60 old ones. When almost all sold we asked our craftsmen to make an exact replica. May be given to your wife with or without necklace.” — Rudy Jr.
