Methodology & Respondents The Fox Cities Benefit Survey was conducted from August 7th through September 13th, 2019. The 244-question survey was administered and distributed by the Fox Cities Chamber of Commerce. The geographic scope of distribution extended beyond the Fox Cities (Calumet, Outagamie and Winnebago Counties) to include all Northeast Wisconsin counties. The Fox Cities Chamber expanded survey distribution with the assistance of numerous partners across Northeast Wisconsin including; Fox Valley SHRM, NE Wisconsin Manufacturing Alliance, United WayFox Cities, First Five Fox Valley, Childcare Resource and Referral Center as well as economic development organizations and chambers throughout Northeast Wisconsin. Overall, the survey had 243 respondents representing a wide variety of industries and company sizes. Approximately, 187 respondents reported operations in the Fox Cities region. However, it should be noted that many respondents reported operations in more than one county and/or multiple counties. Although the survey is not statistically valid, it is intended to provide human resource professionals and those making benefit decisions with data-backed insights about the current benefit landscape in the region. These data-backed insights are intended to help discover trends and provide guidance as the workplace evolves. In this report, several questions were identified from the survey that focused on “Employee Friendly Workplace benefit policies and practices. As employees across generations seek to navigate an
optimal work-life environment, employers must adapt in order to compete for talent by understanding that highly-sought-after benefits are necessary in reshaping the workplace of today. As a result of the annual benefit survey in 2018, an advisory group consisting of industry leaders in the Fox Cities has worked to launch the Fox Cities Employee Friendly Workplace Initiative and Certification Program. This collaborative effort, led by the Fox Cities Chamber, was created for the primary purpose of providing a supportive work environment while attracting and retaining top talent in the Fox Cities. In an effort to encourage participation, respondents were offered access to the survey results at no cost. The complete survey will be distributed to participants on November 1, 2019. Non-participants will have an opportunity to purchase the results online at foxcitieschamber.com. The cost will be $150 for Fox Cities Chamber members and $200 for nonmembers. More information about the Fox Cities Employee Friendly Workplace Initiative and Certification Program can be found at foxcitieschamber.com.

FLEXIBLE WORK SCHEDULE:
HEALTH & WELLNESS BENEFITS:
A flexible work schedule allows an employee to work hours other than the traditional hours established by the company. This offers an employee the opportunity to design their own work schedule and provides flexibility to address issues that arise in their personal life.
These benefits may include generous health and dental insurance coverage. In addition, employees may have access to the following on-site amenities such as: wellness clinic and coaching, fitness center and cafeteria. Off-site benefits might include: wellness education, gym membership subsidies and wellness rewards.
REMOTE WORK: Allowing employees to work away from the work site. An employee may work from home or from some other remote location some or all of the time. Remote work reduces and/or eliminates commute times and allows for flexibility in work schedule.
PARENTAL LEAVE: An employee benefit package may include paid or unpaid leave for the birth, adoption or acceptance of a foster placement of a child. Parental leave includes maternity and paternity leave.
CHILDCARE: Provides employees with support of childcare in a variety of ways such as, on-site day care and/ or financial subsidies for day care. Other forms of assistance might include referrals to reliable childcare and coordinating placement at day care facilities in close proximity to the company.
EMPLOYEE FRIENDLY WORKPLACE: Employers offering comprehensive benefit packages that promote and encourage work-life balance for all employees. Employee Friendly Workplace policies focus on a supportive work environment to better engage employees.
